Développement de contreplaqués pour la construction navale : caractérisation multiéchelle et compréhension des phénomènes de collage du pin maritime à l'état vert / Plywood manufacture for the shipbuilding industry : multi-scale characterisation and understanding of wet maritime pine adhesion phenomena

L’objectif de cette thèse est de développer des panneaux de contreplaqué collés à l’état vert à destination des coques et de l'agencement de bateaux. La technologie du moulage sous vide est choisie pour former des panneaux constitués de plis de pin Maritime déroulés non séchés et collés à l'aide d'un adhésif polyuréthane. Une étude approfondie été réalisée dans le but de fixer les paramètres de collage permettant aux contreplaqués de répondre aux exigences requises dans la construction navale. L’influence des paramètres de fabrication du panneau sur ses propriétés mécaniques est déterminée à partir d’un plan d'expériences. La teneur en eau et le grammage d'adhésif appliqué sont particulièrement étudiés. Le comportement mécanique des différents échantillons de contreplaqué a été caractérisé grâce à des tests normalisés de cisaillement et des tests de flexion. Des mesures de mouillabilité ainsi que des observations microscopiques des joints ont permis de mieux comprendre les résultats mécaniques, et d'expliquer les phénomènes physico-chimiques mis en jeu. Le matériau retenu à partir de cette étude est mis en œuvre dans un démonstrateur, pour validation du procédé utilisé. / The subject of this work is the manufacturing of green-glued plywood panels for the interior and the plating of a ship. The vacuum-moulding process is chosen to produce panels by assembling maritime pine veneers in the wet state with polyurethane adhesive. A study has been done to fix the parameters for gluing so that the manufactured plywood can answer to the mechanical characteristics required by the shipbuilding sector. The effect of several gluing parameters on the panel's mechanical properties is determined by an experimental design method. The wood moisture content when gluing and the amount of adhesive applied are mainly studied. The plywood panels' mechanical characterisations are realised using standardised shear tests and bending tests. In addition to the mechanical tests, wettability measures and bond lines microscopic observations provide a better understanding of the physic-chemical phenomena of green wood gluing. The material defined in this study is implemented in a boat hull prototype.

Precision Maritime Landing of Autonomous Multirotor Aircraft with Real-Time Kinematic GNSS

In this thesis two methods were developed for precise maritime landing of an autonomous multirotor aircraft based on real-time kinematic (RTK) Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS). The first method called RTK-localized method (RLM) uses RTK GNSS measurements to localize a sea vessel and execute the landing. RLM was demonstrated outdoors in hardware and landed on a physically simulated boat called a mock-boat with an average landing error of 9.7 cm. The mock-boat was actuated to have boat-like motion and a forward velocity of ~2 m/s. This method showed that accurate landing is possible with RTK GNSS as the primary means of localizing a sea vessel. The localization was unaided by non-GNSS sensors or an estimator, but lacked full attitude estimation and measurement smoothing. The second method was called RTK-Estimation Method (REM) and provides a more complete and robust solution, particularly at sea. It includes a base (landing pad) estimator to fuse RTK GNSS measurements with a dynamic model of a sea vessel. In contrast to RLM, the estimator provides full attitude estimation and measurement smoothing. The base estimator consists of an EKF in conjunction with a complimentary filter and estimates the relative position, attitude, and velocity of a moving target using RTK GNSS and inertial measurements alone. REM was demonstrated outdoors in hardware for 18 flight tests. The same mock-boat from RLM was used as a substitute for a sea vessel, and the boat motion varied between tests. These dynamics were recorded and performances were compared. The rate of success was high given moderate mock-boat motion and degraded with more aggressive motion. Tests were conducted with forward velocities from 0 to 3 m/s and moderate to high wave like motion. Over all tests for REM, the multirotor landed with an average accuracy of 12.7 cm. The methods described depart from common methods given that the only sensors involved for tracking the sea vessel were RTK GNSS receivers and inertial measurement units. Most current methods rely on computer vision, and can fail in poor lighting conditions, in the presence of ocean spray, and other scenarios. The given solutions do not fail under such conditions. The multirotor was equipped with a standard off-the-shelf autopilot, PX4, and the methods function with common control and estimation schemes. The two methods are capable of landing on relatively small landing pads, on the order of 1 m by 1 m, at sea using measurements from satellites thousands of kilometers away.

Global warming and its effects on the environment call for electrification of the transportation sector. In this effort, the boating industry has not been a pioneer, while being responsible for almost 3 percent of global anthropogenic carbon emissions. In their attempt to help achieve the Swedish Government’s goal of being climate neutral by 2045, the Swedish Sea Rescue Society has launched a project, in cooperation with many different companies and sponsors, which aims at developing an electric hydrofoil rescue boat. However, given the low energy density of batteries compared to liquid fuels and the low availability of chargers at sea, this introduces the problem of range anxiety among the users. Hence, the goal of this thesis is to develop a prototype of a navigation interface with the purpose of mitigating range anxiety to allow sea rescuers to confidently choose the electric rescue boat over the traditional combustion engine boats on their future rescue missions. Three individuals with extensive experience with sea rescue missions and marine navigation were interviewed using semi-structured interviews. The interviews were analysed using thematic analysis. Based on the information received from the interviews the thesis presents a prototype of a range prediction interface, using rings on a sea chart to indicate the range of the boat based on a few parameters. The prototype can serve as inspiration for the implementation of a navigation interface for an electrical driven boat in a future phase of the project. We also expect that the thesis will serve as a proof of concept for the consumer market, which, in a hopefully not-too-distant future, moves towards electrification. / Den globala uppvärmningen och dess påverkan på miljön kräver en elektrifiering av transportsektorn. I denna process har båtindustrin inte varit en pionjär, trots att den står för nästan 3 procent av de globala antropogena koldioxitutsläppen. I enlighet med Sveriges Regerings mål att vara klimatneutrala till 2045 har Svenska Sjöräddningssällskapet påbörjat ett projekt, i samarbete med en rad företag och sponsorer, som syftar till att utveckla en elektrisk räddningsbåt. Med tanke på den låga energitätheten hos batterier i jämförelse med flytande bränslen och den låga tillgängligheten av laddare, introducerar denna elektrifiering problemet med räckviddsångest hos användarna. Därmed är målet med avhandlingen att utveckla en prototyp av ett navigeringsgränssnitt som syftar till att mildra räckviddsångesten så att sjöräddarna kan känna sig trygga i att välja den elektriska båten framför de traditionella förbränningsmotorbåtarna på framtida räddningsuppdrag. Tre individer med omfattande erfarenhet av sjöräddningsuppdrag och marin navigation intervjuades med semistrukturerade intervjuer. Intervjuerna analyserades med hjälp av tematisk analys. Baserat på intervjuerna presenteras, I avhandlingen, en prototyp av ett gränssnitt för avståndsbedömning där ringar på ett sjökort används för att indikera båtens räckvidd baserat på några parametrar. Prototypen kan tjäna som inspiration för implementeringen av ett sådant system i en framtida fas av projektet. Vi hoppas också att avhandlingen ska fungera som ett proof-of-concept för konsumentmarknaden, som inom en snar framtid förhoppningsvis går mot elektrifiering.

En av de största utmaningarna i dagens samhälle är att säkerställa hållbar utveckling, vilket ingick i FN:s sjunde milleniemål med måldatum 2015. Östersjön är ett särskilt känsligt innanhav med en hotad biologisk mångfald och en utbredd övergödningsproblematik. År 2001 gav Helcom, en samarbetsorganisation för alla Östersjöländer, rekommendationen att införa ett förbud mot utsläpp av toalettavfall från fritidsbåtar som ett steg i att begränsa tillförseln av näringsämnen till Östersjön. Den 1 april år 2015 infördes förbudet i Sverige. Under de följande månaderna blev förbudet mycket uppmärksammat i media och det har sedan dess förekommit en stor kvantitet synpunkter på förbudet. Från april till oktober 2015 inkom 182 anmälningar gällande brister i hamnars mottagande av toalettavfall till Transportstyrelsen. Studien syftar till att utvärdera förbudets potentiella bidrag till hållbar utveckling, att undersöka fritidsbåtsägares syn på utsläppsförbudet samt att ge förslag till förbättringar för att förbudet enklare ska kunna efterlevas för fritidsbåtsägare. Studien genomfördes med en kombination av olika metoder. Huvudmomentet utgjordes av kvalitativa intervjuer med fritidsbåtsägare. Som komplement skickades en webbenkät till 109 personer. Svarsfrekvensen beräknades till 92 procent, vilket belyser det stora engagemang som funnits i att delta i studien. Därutöver sammanställdes de brister och synpunkter som rapporterats in till Transportstyrelsen. Författarna har även deltagit i seminarier. Resultaten visar att majoriteten av fritidsbåtsägarna anser att förbudet är korrekt och att principen att inte släppa ut toalettavfall i Östersjön är riktig. Enligt webbenkäten skulle 64 av 99 personer tömma båtens septiktank i havet om det inte fanns någon fungerande mottagningsanordning inom deras färdväg. Situationen speglas även i förbättringsförslagen då det mest frekvent förekommande förslaget är att bygga ut nätet med mottagningsanordningar och att säkerställa att befintliga anordningar är i drift och fungerar. Fritidsbåtsägarna gav flera argument både för och emot förbudet och hade även synpunkter på förbudets utformning. Två vanligt förekommande argument för förbudet var vikten av att ta ansvar för sina egna utsläpp och den sanitära olägenheten att bada i samma vatten som någon släpper ut toalettavfall i. Tre vanliga motargument var att regleringar för andra aktörer som jordbruk, industrier och kommunala bräddavlopp bör införas innan regleringar för fritidsbåtsägare, att toalettavfallet sprids ut i en så stor volym vatten och att båtliv ska innebära frihet. Förbudet kan bidra till hållbar utveckling ur såväl det sociala, ekonomiska och ekologiska perspektivet trots att utsläpp av näringsämnen från fritidsbåtar utgör en mindre andel av de totala utsläppskvantiteterna. Flera av Östersjöns ekosystemtjänster hotas av övergödning, exempelvis livsmedelsproduktion, biologisk mångfald och estetiska värden. Författarna till denna rapport anser därmed att alla ekonomiskt rimliga åtgärder kan motiveras ur ett ekosystemtjänstperspektiv för att inte riskera kommande generationers möjlighet att uppfylla sina behov. Förbudet bidrar ytterligare till den sociala dimensionen av hållbarhet genom att det medför en ökad medvetenhet kring problematiken relaterad till Östersjöns miljötillstånd. Författarna rekommenderar i första hand att det byggs flera landtoaletter och sugtömningsanordningar. Placeringen av dessa bör ses över av en aktör med ett övergripande ansvar. Spridning av information kring var det finns utplacerade mottagningsanordningar rekommenderas, exempelvis via en applikation i mobiltelefonen och utmärkning på sjökort. Därutöver bör information om vilka regler som gäller för fritidsbåtsägare och hamnansvariga spridas, samt tydliga användarinstruktioner på mottagningsanordningarna vara mer frekvent förekommande. / One of the greatest challenges in today’s society is to ensure sustainable development, which was included in the UN:s 7th millennium goal with target date 2015. The Baltic Sea is an extra sensitive inland sea with a threatened biodiversity and widespread eutrophication problems. In 2001 Helcom, a cooperation organization for all Baltic Sea countries, gave the recommendation to prohibit discharge of sewage from pleasure craft as a step to limit the input of nutrients to the Baltic Sea. The 1st of April 2015 the prohibition was introduced in Sweden. In the following months the prohibition got a lot of attention in media and many people commented upon it. From April to October 2015, Transportstyrelsen received 182 notifications about deficiencies in ports’ reception of sewage. This study aims at evaluating the prohibitions’ contribution to sustainable development, examining the owners of pleasure craft’s view of the sewage prohibition and to come up with improvement proposals in order to make it easier for pleasure craft owners to follow the prohibition. The study was conducted with a combination of different methods. The main part consisted of qualitative interviews with pleasure craft owners. As a complement, a web questionnaire was distributed to 109 persons. The response rate was estimated to 92 percent, which highlights the great intrest to participate in the study. The notifications that were reported by Transportstyrelsen’s web form were compiled as well. The authors have also participated in seminars with different actors. The results of the study shows that the majority of the pleasure craft owners thought that the prohibition was correct and the principle of not emitting sewage in the Baltic Sea was appropriate. According to the web questionnaire 64 of 99 people would empty the septic tank of the boat in the sea if there was no functioning emptying equipment in their route. This was also reflected in the improvement proposals where the most common proposals were to expand the network of emptying equipment and to ensure that the existing stations are in operation. The pleasure craft owners stated several arguments both for and against the prohibition and also commented on the formation of the prohibition. Two common arguments with the prohibition were the importance of taking responsibility of your own emissions and the sanitary inconvenience in bathing in the same water as someone is discharging sewage in. Three common counterarguments were that regulations for other actors as agriculture, industries and municipal overflow outlets should be introduced before regulations for pleasure craft owners, that the sewage is spread out in a large amount of water and that boating should stand for freedom. The prohibition can contribute to sustainable development both from the social, economic and ecological dimensions despite that the emissions of nutrients from the pleasure boats represent a small proportion of the total amount of emissions. Several ecosystem services of the Baltic Sea are threatened by eutrophication, for example food production, biodiversity and aesthetic values. In the writers opinion thereby all economically reasonable actions are motivated from an ecosystem service perspective not to risk the possibility for future generations to fulfill their needs. The prohibition is further contributing to social sustainability by entailing an increased awareness of the problems related to the Baltic Sea's environmental status. The writers primarily recommend building of more toilets on land and more suction drainage devices. The placement of these should be reviewed by an actor with an overall responsibility. Spreading of information about where the emptying equipments are located is recommended, both by an application in the mobile phone and marked in the nautical chart. In addition, information about the rules that apply to recreational pleasure craft owners and port responsibles should also be spread, as well as clear user instructions on emptying equipments.

Configurations of a piled row breakwater for a protected shallow water marina

Thesis (MScEng)--Stellenbosch University, 2014. / ENGLISH ABSTRACT: For the safekeeping or harbouring of small craft, whether for leisure or commercial use, a tranquil basin is the principle requirement in designing a functional harbour facility. Waves transmitted through the perimeter structures of a marina result in agitation of the basin and thereby a reduction in tranquillity. Similarly, waves reflected off the perimeter structures that line entrance channels could result in difficulty when manoeuvring through the entrance channel water areas. An alternative to the conventional breakwater becomes a necessity when the conventional mass-filled or caisson breakwaters are not feasible in technical or financial terms. One of the alternative options could be to consider a piled row breakwater. In broad terms, this consists of closely spaced piles that attenuate wave energy whilst not forming an impermeable barrier, allowing for currents and sediment to pass through. When comparing the different options for creating a piled row breakwater the quantity of material used to achieve a desired level of wave dissipation could be the most important aspect in considering possible alternatives, as this would relate directly to construction costs and time when considering implementation. A literature review revealed multiple references to theories that predicted the transmitted and reflected waves for various breakwater porosities and wave conditions. However, there is limited coverage in literature enabling prospective designers. For example, literature describing the applicable ranges of shape configurations that one should start off with when developing concepts is not readily available. This thesis study used physical modelling to compare the wave transmission properties of breakwaters comprised of three different piled element shapes, namely round, square and diagonal square piles. The pile element shapes are compared for varying porosity values over a range of input wave parameters. A comparison of the transmission incurred by these configurations with previous work is presented and it was found that the physical model experiment closely simulated the predicted values. The tests were scaled from actual conditions in possible marina locations and therefore the performance criteria measured could be applied in reverse to potential site locations. From analysis of the physical model results, it was clear that the highest energy loss was found, in general, to occur with low porosities (below 10%), as could be expected. For a fixed screen configuration in terms of pile element shape and porosity, the performance is heavily dependent on wave steepness, the steeper waves incurring a lower transmission coefficient than the less steep waves. For a given porosity, circular piles performed the best (transmit the least) followed by square piles and then diagonal square. When comparing the material used, diagonal square piles yielded better performing breakwaters due to the expanded cross section gained in elevation. The work has provided useful insight into the performance of piled row breakwaters in restricting transmission of wave energy. Design guidance has been provided when considering the parameters for deriving conceptual layouts for piled row breakwater structures. Recommendations were put forward for further work in this field, including potential study areas, data gathering, and study methods, as well as more applied uses of piles, for example in combination with other elements in a marina. / AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: die veilige bewaring van klein vaartuie, hetsy vir ontspanning of kommersiële gebruik, is die hoofvereiste in die ontwerp van 'n funksionele hawe fasiliteit dat die beskermde hawegebied ‘n rustende water oppervlak sal moet handhaaf. Die rede hiervoor is die direkte verwantskap aan konstruksie kostes sowel as tyd aspekte wat gepaardgaan met die konstruksie materiaal hoeveelhede. Vanuit die literatuurstudie is verskeie verwysings geïdentifiseer waarin vorige teorieë oor oordrag en refleksie van golwe evalueer word vir wisselende porositeit waardes en intree golf waardes. Daar is egter 'n beperkte dekking in die literatuur wat ontwerps-riglyne betref. Byvoorbeeld, die toepaslike omvang van die vorm konfigurasies wat oorweeg moet word wanneer konsep ontwerp gedoen word, is nie geredelik beskikbaar nie. Hierdie tesis vergelyk, deur middel van fisiese skaal model toetse, drie heipaal-ry element vorms, naamlik ronde, vierkantige en diagonal geroteerde vierkante vir verskillende porositeit waardes oor 'n verskeidenheid van golf inset parameters. Vir 'n gegewe golfbreker opset, in terme van die heipaal element vorm en porositeit, is die verrigting hoogs afhanklik van die golf steilheid, met hoër verrigting by steiler golwe. Vir 'n gegewe porositeit, sal ronde heipaal elemente die beste verrigting gee, gevolg deur vierkante heipale en laastens diagonal geroteerde vierkante. Vir soortgelyke hoeveelheid heipale, sal diagonal geroteerde vierkante beter verrigting lewer moontlik as gevolg van die verlengde deursnit dimensie in vooraansig. Hierdie navorsing het goeie insig verskaf oor golfdeurlaatbaarheid en weerkaatsing van heipaalry breekwaters. Ontwerp riglyne word ook verskaf wat betref die parameters wat gebruik kan word vir die konsep ontwikkelings fase vir heipaal-ry breekwaters. La figure du réfugié dans la littérature de la diaspora vietnamienne en Amérique du Nord : analyse des premiers romans de Lê Thi Diêm Thúy et de Kim Thúy

La recherche sur la littérature de la diaspora vietnamienne dans une perspective nord-américaine a été longtemps négligée par les critiques littéraires. Aux États-Unis, les écrits des auteurs d’origine vietnamienne sont habituellement inclus dans un corpus appelé « Asian-American literature » alors qu’au Québec, on préfère parler de « littérature migrante ». C’est pourquoi ce mémoire propose d’analyser The Gangster We Are All Looking For (2003), de Lê Thi Diêm Thúy, et Ru (2009), de Kim Thúy. Outre le fait de mettre en scène une protagoniste appartenant à la deuxième génération, les deux romans questionnent le rôle de l’héritage familial et de la mémoire collective dans le rapport à soi et aux autres. Dans The Gangster We Are All Looking For, la quête identitaire se définit par le maintien de l’anonymat et le désir d’incarner la figure subversive qu’est le gangster. Dans Ru, il est plutôt question d’intégration : le parcours de la narratrice est celui d’une ascension vers le « rêve américain ». Les critiques littéraires ont été nombreuses à penser l’exil en termes de culture et d’hybridité, mais peu ont tenu compte de sa dimension juridico-politique. En nous appuyant sur le concept de la « vie nue » de Giorgio Agamben et le texte d’Edward Saïd intitulé « Nationalism, Human Rights, and Interpretation », nous démontrerons que l’exil n’est pas simplement une expérience de déchirure romantique de citoyens privilégiés (écrivains, artistes, poètes, intellectuels). Il illustre aussi la condition précaire de ceux qui ne sont pas reconnus par le pouvoir étatique (réfugiés, apatrides, sans-papiers). / Research on Vietnamese diasporic literature from a North American perspective has long been neglected by literary critics. In the United States, writings of authors who originated from Vietnam are usually labeled as Asian-American literature, while in Quebec we prefer to use the term « migrant literature ». This is why this master thesis proposes an analysis of The Gangster We Are All Looking For (2003), from Lê Thi Diêm Thúy, and Ru (2009), from Kim Thúy. Aside from featuring a second generation protagonist, both novels question the way family and collective memory shape the relation to self and others. In The Gangster We Are All Looking For, the quest for identity is defined by the persistance of anonymity as well as by the desire to become a “gangster”, a rebellious figure. In Ru, the future is more related to the notion of integration : the narrator’s life trajectory can be described as an ascent towards the American dream. Many literary critics understood exile in terms of culture and hybridity, but few of them took into account its juridico-political aspect. Using Giorgio Agamben’s concept of “bare life” and Edward Said’s ideas in « Nationalism, Human Rights, and Interpretation », we will demonstrate that exile cannot be merely reduced to a compelling journey told from the perspective of privileged citizens (writers, artists, poets, intellectuals), since it also reflects the precarious status of those who are not recognized by the State (the refugees, the stateless, the undocumented workers).

Adaptation and Design of a Marine Vehicle for Disabilities

This report is the result of the master thesis project in Industrial Design engineering (IDE), performed at Luleå University of Technology, by Erik Vesterlund. The task was to produce a conceptual belly boat design that enables individuals paralyzed in the lower extremities to use, propel, maneuver, assemble and use a belly boat. The initial stage included a pre-study of identifying and clarifying what the most common causes of paralyzation of the lower extremities originates from as well as finding the correct terms and what challenges they may include. It was discovered that there are many different causes and effects. Paraplegic are individuals who are unable to move, control or feel their legs depending on the severity of the injury. Quadriplegic individuals are unable to move, control or feel the entire of their body below their shoulders, depending on the severity of the injury. After the causes and effects were mapped, the challenges had to be identified. This was done through tests, interviews, literature studies and participant observations with individuals that are living with these types of injuries. Different problems and needs were mapped, and the most crucial to the usage of a belly boat was identified as the propelling and maneuvering of the craft. Safety aspects were also looked into and documented in order to ensure that the concept was safe for the users. Thereafter, a variety of methods were used in order to generate multiple ideas of how the identified problems and needs could be solved. The generated ideas were formulated and composed into complete solutions in the concept generating phase. The less good solutions were filtered out with the help of an evaluation matrix, and the good solutions were framed into different over-all concepts. Those were graded in a concept scoring matrix and composed into the final concept. The final concept fulfills the overall objectives and aims of the project, and also exceeds some of them, like allowing fully functional individuals to share the craft with Para- and quadriplegics, and without looking as equipment for individuals with disabilities. This broadens the market potential and increases the realization possibilities of a production, hence making the dream of assistance free wilderness adventures for Para- and quadriplegics all over the world, a reality. / Denna rapport är resultatet av ett examensarbete i Teknisk design, utfört vid Luleå tekniska universitet av Erik Vesterlund. Uppgiften var att ta fram en konceptuell båt design, som gör det möjligt för individer som är förlamade i de nedre extremiteterna att använda, driva, manöverera och använda en båt. I inledningsskedet genomfördes en förstudie för att identifiera och tydliggöra vad de vanligaste orsakerna till förlamning i de nedre extremiteterna, samt att ta reda på vilka utmaningar det omfattar. Det upptäcktes att det finns många olika orsaker och effekter. Paraplegi är individer som inte kan röra sig, kontrollera eller känna sina ben, beroende på hur allvarlig skadan är. Tetraplegi är individer som inte kan röra sig, styra eller känna hela sin kropp under sina axlar, beroende på hur allvarlig skadan är. Efter det att orsaker och effekter kartlagts, hade utmaningarna identifierats. Detta gjordes även genom tester, intervjuer, litteraturstudier och deltagande observationer med personer som lever med dessa typer av skador. Olika problem och behov kartlades, och den mest avgörande för användningen av en båt identifierades som framdrivning och manövrering av båten. Säkerhetsaspekter undersöktes och dokumenteras i syfte att säkerställa att konceptet var säkert för användarna. Därefter användes en mängd olika metoder för att generera flera idéer om hur de identifierade problemen och behoven skulle kunna lösas. De genererade idéer gestaltades i form av olika lösningar. De mindre bra lösningarna filtrerades bort, med hjälp av en utvärderingsmatris, och de goda lösningarna gestaltades i olika helhetskoncept. De graderades sedan i en konceptmatris och resulterade i det slutliga konceptet. Det slutgiltiga konceptet uppfyller det övergripande syftet och målen för projektet, och överträffar också några av dem, som att tillåta att fungerande individer delar båten med para- och quadriplegics, samt att konceptet inte ser ut som utrustning för personer med funktionshinder. Detta vidgar den potentiella marknaden och ökar realiseringsmöjligheterna, och bidrar därför till att drömmen om ett vildmarksäventyr för Para- och quadriplegics över hela världen, kan bli verklighet.

Discovered in 1986, on the shores of Lake Galilee, and dating to the first century D.C. It represents the first information of vessels from this period arising from material culture, for until then, the theme was present only in the biblical texts of the New Testament. In this way, the finding allowed a symbolic discussion about elements present in religious narratives because they presented different meanings. In this context, we seek to initiate an archaeological and symbolic analysis of this boat as nautical artefact, seeking to understand the different symbologies that surround it. / O presente trabalho buscou desenvolver uma discussão sobre o barco da Galileia. Descoberto em 1986, às margens do lago da Galileia, e datado do primeiro século D.C.. Representa a primeira informação de embarcações deste período decorrente da cultura material, pois até então, o tema estava presente somente nos textos bíblicos do Novo Testamento. Desta forma, o achado permitiu uma discussão simbólica sobre elementos presentes nas narrativas religiosas por apresentarem significados diferentes. Neste contexto, procuramos iniciar uma análise arqueológica e simbólica deste barco, enquanto artefato náutico, buscando compreender quais as diferentes simbologias que o envolvem. / Laranjeiras
