Stimulate motor skills of people with Down syndrome is very important to promote benefits such as autonomy, independence, resourcefulness and motor. Among the alternatives to provide this stimulus, this research worked with badminton, characterized as a racket sport responsible for stimulating the manipulative skills of its practitioners. This study aimed to analyze the effects of a badminton program in manipulative skills involved in this mode in adolescents with Down syndrome, and had the specific objective to describe the teaching strategies and learning resources used in badminton training for adolescents with Down syndrome and analyze the individual performance of each participant. Thus, a multiple baseline design was used to verify that the proposed activities of teaching influenced in learning the forehand skills; backhand; and serve. The teaching program was applied twice a week, lasting 30 minutes in which, each session consisted of three activities. The student took the 16 educational sessions to learn the proposed skills, and activities have been proven effective for teaching the forehand and backhand, however, the withdrawal of skill the student has achieved only 20% correct. Student B also needed 16 sessions and activities were effective for all three skills. In contrast, the pupil C, 18 needed teaching sessions, even though the student has taken longer to perform the forehand, the activities were effective for the three skills teaching. The elaborate badminton program highlighted some pedagogical resources that assisted learning of the participants, like balls of various sizes and different rackets. As teaching strategies include offering students the opportunity to choose the material to be used, demonstration, and the gradual removal by launching the shuttle for the hit. We conclude that the training program was effective to teach manipulative skills badminton students with Down syndrome, and teaching strategies and teaching resources facilitate the teaching - learning, thus making the sport accessible to the public concerned .

The Effects of Mobile App Technology on Technique and Game Performance in Physical Education

January 2020 (has links)
abstract: Informed by Behavioral Ecological Model (BEM), Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework, and Model for Learning With Digital Video, this project assessed: (a) the effects of mobile application (App) technology on students’ skill and game play development during a badminton sport education season and (b) a physical education teacher and students’ perceptions about the use of the App technology. Two eighth grade classes participated in the study (the teacher only used the App in Class A; students used the App in Class B). The Poole forehand overhead clear shot skill test, game performance assessment instrument (GPAI), and opportunity to respond (OTR) observation tool were used to measure skill development and game improvement in the first study. Students’ practices and game play performance were recorded. Critical incident sheets, the teacher’s daily reflections, and interviews with the teacher were used in second study. In the first study, students in both intervention classes, regardless of the App use condition (i.e., teacher vs students), improved in the clear shot skill, tactical dimensions of their game performance (i.e., skill execution, decision-making, and base position), and opportunities to respond rates (i.e., success and acceptability). In the second study, there was evidence that a physical education teacher can effectively integrate the use of a motion analysis App and complement his instructional skills during regular instruction in a middle school badminton context. Also, it was evident that the App provided students with active learning opportunities through instant feedback on skill and game performance. Further research on the use of such App technologies should focus on: (a) how the App technology can be innovative to foster student learning in game play in Physical Education settings and (b) how teachers understand the use of technology along with their pedagogical skills. / Dissertation/Thesis / Doctoral Dissertation Physical Education 2020

Analýza pohybu horní končetiny při útočném úderu u závodních hráček badmintonu / Analysis of the movement of upper extremity during offensive stroke in female badminton players.

Prausová, Lucie January 2020 (has links)
Title: Analysis of the motion of dominant upper extremity during offensive stroke in badminton performed by elite female players Objectives: Objective of my master thesis is to analyse movement of a dominant upper extremity during offensive stroke in badminton and to point out possible risk factors for injuries and soft tissue overload problems in the region of the upper limb. Methods: The theoretical part deals with anatomical and kinesiological description of upper extremities. Then there is a description of the motion on the court and upper strokes in badminton and movements of upper extremity during the strokes. The practical part deals with measuring of rotations in shlouder joints and with analysis of motion of upper extremity during offensive stroke in badminton. It is focused on measuring the range of motion, angular velocity and angular acceleration in joints of dominant upper extremity. The Xsens MVN was used to record motion. Results: The results showed that the internal rotation in the shoulder joint on the dominant upper limb during active movement examination is reduced in elite female badminton players. When an offensive strike is played, the players come to the extreme inner rotation in the shoulder joint. Next we found out that the risky movement during the offensive stroke is...

The use of the Singer and Dick systems approach in the teaching of badminton

Rouleau, Marc 25 April 2018 (has links)

Mempel, Gordon 16 December 2013 (has links)
The effects of conscious and unconscious factors on implicit and explicit motives were examined in the context of two studies. The distinct array of prediction by implicit and explicit motive diagnostic can be replicated. Though it was possible to provide evidence for the exclusive moderation of implicit motives by unconscious activity inhibition while explicit motives were moderated by conscious skills of self-regulation. Only the implicit processes (implicit motives and activity inhibition) proof a value to predicting human activity in situations coped without consciousness. In contrast only explicit processes (explicit motives and conscious skills of self-regulation) can predict the outcome of behaviour in situations coped with consciousness. The results of that paper can improve the differential prediction of direct and indirect motive diagnostic by regarding the adequate moderator factors. Further investigations will have the ability to improve the value of motivational predictors if they consider, that the level of consciousness is consistent within the situation of ascertainment the motivational predictor and the situation the criteria is imposed.

Biel, Evelina, Lundqvist, Mathilda January 2022 (has links)
Studies have shown the importance of intrinsic motivation and Self Determination Theory (SDT) (Deci & Ryan, 2000) when it comes to promoting sport participation and well-being. The amount of intrinsic motivation experienced by an individual can be estimated using the factors Need Satisfaction and Need Frustration and also be influenced by the surrounding people through Need Support and Need Thwarting. This study aimed to investigate whether a correlation between the experience of Need Satisfaction/-Frustration and Need Support/-Thwarting in Swedish badminton players and their intention to continue with badminton in the future existed. 133 active Swedish badminton players participated in the study, age 15 to 66 and older. The intention to continue playing badminton indicated a statistically significant positive correlation with the variables Need Support and Need Satisfaction. No correlation was found between the intention to continue playing badminton and the variables Need Thwarting and Need Frustration. The higher the age, more years as an active badminton player and more years with their current coach, the higher was also the intention to continue with badminton in the future. Need Support and Need Satisfaction can therefore be important areas of interest within sport clubs to promote long-term sport participation, in badminton as well as other sports.

Guillou, Julien 06 December 2006 (has links) (PDF)
