A Biedermeier Cabin

Szlatenyi, Nicole Anne 18 May 2007 (has links)
A Biedermeier Cabin was designed with attention to detail and stylistic simplicity in mind. This cabin, located along the banks of the Shenandoah River, is mainly used during the Summer months. The cabinâ s folding doors open up completely for the Summer months to let the breezes flow through. During the Winter months, when the cabin is not in use, all the windows and doors are folded or slid closed to protect the cabin from harsh weather. This seasonal transformation was a main focus in designing the cabin. The appearance of floating was also incorporated within the design. The intent was for the structure to protrude out of the earth and have a â floatingâ deck that cantilevers above the treetops overlooking the river. The roof folds around the structure, providing a feeling of privacy and intimacy. The roofâ s slope opens up toward the river, the intended primary vista. / Master of Architecture

Demlovi "Moji přátelé" z hlediska intertextuality / Deml's "Moji přátelé/My Friends" from an intertextual viewpoint

Ulyankina, Evgenia January 2014 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with the interpretation of Deml's prose anthology Moji přátelé/My Friends from an intertextual viewpoint. The work is focused mainly on the reconstruction of My Friends' genesis and intertextual structures and on the interpretation of identified references, i.e. allusions and quotations. The thesis also explores Deml's vocabulary of flowers by reference to Biedermeier's work, it surveys repertoire of the main motifs and offers analysis of author's poetics. The work is also focused on Deml's specific dialogue.

Setkávání lásky a přírody v lyrice Eduarda Mörikeho / The Encounters of Love and Nature in the Lyric Poetry of Eduard Mörike

Dvořáková, Tereza January 2021 (has links)
This diploma thesis explores the lyrical poetry of Eduard Mörike (1804-1875), a German poet. The topic of the thesis is theencountering of nature and love in his works. This poet, less known in the Czech context, wrote various kinds of poems, which deserve attention. The thesis is divided in two parts, theoretical and interpretative. In the first part, the thesis focuses on giving an overall context (I deal with a historical context, literary epochs, during which Eduard Mörike wrote, his personality and general introduction in lyrical poetry). The second part of my thesis aims to interpret selected poems, which are divided bytheir themes: romantic love, the morning, wayfaring, the forest and the so-called "Dinggedichte," or poems focusing on understanding and appreciation of a single item. In each poem, a mood or feeling that characterizes the poem is described, who is the speaker within the poem, and which topics of love and nature can be observed. From the perspective of form, I analyze the rhyme scheme. The analysis of each thematic group also contains a comparation of the poems. The interpretational part aims to connect and evaluate the interweaving of love and nature in the poetic works of Eduard Mörike and touch upon the deeper meaning of the poems. Its aim is also to make the selected works...

Jahrhunderts

Janke, Nico 20 June 2018 (has links)
This dissertation deals with the topics of cabinet making in the former (Grand) Dukedom Mecklenburg-Schwerin and the projects for new interior decoration of the appartments for two generations of hereditary princes. The new interiors were ordered by the (Grand) Duke Frederic Franz I. of Mecklenburg-Schwerin between 1799 and 1822 due to the upcoming marriages of the princes. For answering the questions in both the fields I consider on the one hand the quality of the produced furnitures circa 1790 and 1850. On the other hand I investigate whether the (Grand) Duke engaged the cabinetmakers of his own land for his projects or not. The question also is how interior planning and bulding were organized by the architects of the court. To address this it is necessary to study the historical documents. My text is divided into two parts. In part one, I investigate the conditions of the practical and theoretical education of the carpenters in Mecklenburg and the towns of the Western part of the former Prussian province Pomerania. Today it is part of the German federal state Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. I discuss all the still existing furniture and drawings of cabinetmaker’s work for which the regions or cities where they were made are verifiable. In the end it is possible to draw a picture of the possible capability of the carpenters in the (Grand) Dukedom of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. In addition to this I compare the results to the situations in other regions which were connected by trade and the exchange of the knowledge by the craftmen. In the second part of this dissertation, the planning and organization during realisation of the court interiors will be introduced and explained. In the end it is possible to see a change in the culture of representation and court life. The (Grand) Dukes didn’t support the cabinetmaker’s trade by special orders in between 1799 and 1850. As a consequence in this country the art of furniture making could not prosper. Frederic Franz I. relied on dynastic relations and the contact of his architects to the international markets in Hamburg and Berlin.

Ladislav Fuks: Vévodkyně a kuchařka - zjevení biedermeieru? / Ladislav Fuks: The Duchess and the Art of Cookery - Appearance of Biedermeier?

Součková Linhartová, Ladislava January 2014 (has links)
This thesis is an attempt to interpret the novel of Ladislav Fuks - The duchess and the art of cookery. It is focused on the relationship of its fictional world with culture and with the philosophy of biedermeier. Biedermeier is thought to be a value stream, a harmonizing approach to life, and also a method, which prefers idylls. The analytic source is Gérard Genette's theory of transtextuality, chosen because of Fuks's distinctive intertextuality of his work.

Musikalischer Salonstil: Vernetzung von Poesie, Salonkultur und Kompositionsstil als Aspekt weiblicher Kultur

Jeßulat, Ariane 22 September 2023 (has links)
The article examines the construction principles of an intertextual musical idiom on the basis of Fanny Hensel’s song Ich kann wohl manchmal singen. Not only do model compositions play an important role, in this case Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Sonata Op. 14/2, but also the cultural background of the text as well as the reception history of the musical model. Since both Joseph von Eichendorff’s novel Ahnung und Gegenwart and the relevant reception of Beethoven’s Piano Sonata op. 14/2 by Adolf Bernhard Marx have a strong gender-theoretical connotation, this metaphorical court of metaphors plays into the analysis of the song with the hypothesis that Fanny Hensel made an artistic contribution to the gender discourse of the Biedermeier period against the background and with the means of an interdisciplinary conversation cultivated especially in salon culture.

Brolin Nord, Elin January 2018 (has links)
Through the selection of six representative typical Swedish chairs from each era, I present manufacturing techniques and how the craftsmanship has affected the style of the chairs over time. My main source material is the objects themselves. I chose to analyze the constructions and what can distinguish them apart in techniques, material choices, aesthetics and design. The main part of my work has been to find out what are the most occurring damages and its causes. Most damages from renaissance to biedermeier can be linked to the mortise joint. Through interviews with experienced conservators and with my own experiences as a cabinet maker and conservator, I discuss the concept of the ultimate chair design in terms of stability. I have come to the conclusion that the most solid chair is the eight to twelve framed chairs from the Renaissance, but the chair must be adapted to the intended use.
