This is a bachelor thesis, written at the business studies institute, Uppsala Unviersity, exploring how digitalization has affected the Swedish book industry. This is done by studying how the introduction of the e-book has changed the way the publishers work and what problems and opportunities arise with the new way to publish and consume books. The technology optimists, that existed around the turn of the millennium, when the e-book came, made predictions along the lines of the physical book having ceased to exist within five to ten years. But the physical paper books do very much still exist, so haven’t the change happened as predicted? The purpose of this thesis is as follows: How has introduction of the e-book affected the relationship between the Swedish publishers and the book as a whole? This means that we consider the book as a concept, as a resource or product, and study how a change in this product affect publishers. The theoretical framework used is basically classical network theory. We study the book as a resource that exists through relationships with other resources, with the help of the 4R model. The information has been gathered through both a study of literature and interviews with subjects. The litterature study consisted of reading the newspaper Svensk Bokhandel (SvB) Years 2004-2010. It provided us with enough information to make a network map of the actors within the Swedish book industry. From this network map identified the key actors and interviews took place with a number of these. The empirical data has first been split into two scenarios; the book industry around year 2000 and 2012. The information gathered about these two points in time were then separated into the four types of resources defined by the theory. This was done to illustrate the changes that has occurred during the past decade. The interfaces between resources were then examined in the analysis and the changes in weight and variation that occurred was noted. The reasons that caused the observed transformations of the interactions has been investigated and these have been noted. The conclusion that has been reached is that the weight of the network is relatively unchanged while the overall variation has increased. This change in variation have taken the guise of new flows of information and new ways to process, distribute and consume the book. The essay ends with a discussion of the book industry's future and the parallels and differences to markets that have undergone similar changes. / Detta är en kandidatuppsats, skriven vid företagsekonomiska institutionen vid Uppsala unviersitet, som undersöker hur digitaliseringen har påverkat den svenska bokbranschen. Detta görs genom att studera hur e-boken har förändrat förlagens sätt att arbeta samt vilka problem och förutsättningar som uppkommit med de nya sättet att publicera, distribuera och konsumera böcker. Den stora teknikoptimism som fanns kring millennieskiftet då e-boken kom gav tongångar i stil med att den fysiska boken inom fem till tio år skulle ha upphört att publiceras. Pappersböcker säljs i hög grad fortfarande, och varför har förändringen inte skett snabbare? Uppsatsens syfte lyder enligt följande: Hur har e-bokens inträde på marknaden påverkat relationen mellan de svenska förlagen och boken som en enhet? Den teoretiska referensram som använts är i grund och botten klassisk nätverksteori. Vi studerar boken som en resurs som existerar i form av relationer och kopplingar till andra resurser, med hjälp av den s.k. 4R-modellen. Undersökningen är blandad litteraturstudie och intervjubaserad. Litterturstudien bestod av att läsa tidningen Svensk Bokhandel(SvB) årgångarna 2004-2010. Det medgav en klar nätverkskarta över vilka aktörer som verkade inom den svenska bokbranschen. Utifrån denna nätverkskarta identifierades de centrala aktörerna och intervjuer skedde med ett antal av dessa. Empirin har först delats upp i två scenarion; bokbranschen kring 2000 samt 2012. Den information som innehafts angående de två tidpunkterna separerades sedan i de fyra typerna av resurserna som definieras av teorin. Detta för att belysa de förändringar som skett under det senaste decenniet. Gränssnitten mellan resurserna undersöktes sedan i analysen och de förändringar i tyngd och variation som skett noterades. De anledningar som orsakat de observerade transformationerna i interaktionerna har undersökts och även dessa har noterats. Den slutsats som nåtts är att tyngden inom nätverket är relativt oförändrad medans den generella variationen har ökat. Denna variationsförändring har tagit skepnad av nya informationskanaler samt nya sätt att bearbeta, distribuera och konsumera boken. Uppsatsen avslutas med en diskussion kring bokbranschens framtid samt paralleller och skillnader mot marknader som genomgått likande förändringar.

Uppsatsen handlar om naturvärdesskapande skogsskötsel och vildvårdsanpassat skogsbruk på skogsfastigheten Bubbetorp1:7 som ägs av Fortifikationsverket. Fastigheten används idag som övningsområde för militära övningar. Naturvärdesskapande skogsskötselåtgärderna har kommit fram genom en inventering av det berörda området som i uppsatsen har namnet SNUS-området. Området har en areal på 64 ha och består till största del av ädellövskogar vilka har rika insektsliv. Viltvårdsanpassat skogsbruk innebär skapande av foder i skogsbruket är något som förvaltaren av fastigheten Bubbetorp1:7 kan använda sin planering för skogsskötselåtgärder, men även applicera på andra fastigheter som förvaltas av fortifikationsverket för att gynna vilda djur.

Syftet med mitt examensarbete är att göra en ABC-bok, ett läromedel för skriftspråkslärande och bokstavsbearbetning. Bokstavsbearbetningen är en del av skriftspråkslärandet och ska vara en del i elevernas vardag. Genom ABC-boken vill jag åskådliggöra hur man kan integrera olika uttrycksformer i undervisningen. Jag har studerat olika teorier om skriftspråkslärande, bokstavsbearbetning och estetiska läroprocesser. Tillsammans med teorier, samtal med lärare och med bakgrund i Lpo 94 har jag gjort en ABC-bok där jag har författat övningar, fotograferat föremål och gjort layouten. Min förhoppning med boken är att göra skriftspråkslärandet och bokstavsbearbetningen i skolår 1, lärorik på ett roligt och kreativt sätt. Resultatet finner jag tilltalande.

Syftet med denna studie är att se om barns läsvanor har förändrats genom året och vilken betydelse vuxna och högläsning har för barns läsvanor. Studien gör med enkäter, interjuver och tidigare forskning. Man kan de att det har skett en förändring i barns läsning och vad det kan bero på, man kan också se hur det påverkar barns läsförståelse. Digitaliseringens framväxt i samhället har skapat nya utmaningar och möjligheter för både barnets språkutveckling och läsupplevelser. Detta påverkar även förskolepersonalen då de står inför viktiga didaktiska beslut gällande arbetssätt vid planerad högläsning med tryckta böcker och elektroniska böcker (e-böcker). Examensarbetet undersöker med en kvantitativ enkätstudie hur förskolor arbetar med tryckta böcker och e-böcker vid planerad högläsning och vad förskolans personal själva tycker om bokformaten i relation till förskolans utbildning.Den digitala enkäten besvarades av 166 respondenter som arbetar med en pedagogisk roll inom förskolor runt om i Sveriges alla län. Studiens resultat är analyserat med hjälp av univariata och bivariata analyser och presenteras med centralitetsmått, tabeller och stapeldiagram. Som utgångspunkt för att tolka studiens slutsatser användes ett sociokulturellt perspektiv. Studiens slutsatser redovisar att den tryckta bokens värde är högt värderat inom förskolans utbildning och majoriteten av förskolepersonalen väljer bokformatet före det digitaliserade utbudet av e-böcker. Resultatet visade även att personalen arbetade olika med bokformaten. Förskolepersonalen var generellt sätt mer aktiva som läsare både med frågor och kommunikativa uttryckssätt vid planerad högläsning med tryckt bok.

This is a study about adaptation, focusing on the first book in the series about Harry Potter and the movie version of the book. The study examines whether any of the characters change when the book is adapted to another type of medium. For example, are there any character traits that are revealed differently in the book versus the movie? The materials that have been used are works of reference, the first book about Harry Potter and also the film of the book. Some of the literature has already been read prior to the study but will still be needed as the study continues.By the end of the study there should be some results to be shown. The primary purpose of the study is to clarify the differences and similarities that can appear when a work is transferred, for example, from book to film.

The purpose of this thesis is to see how the Swedish public libraries present e-books on their website. This study has tried to answer the following questions:1. How do the public libraries construct their definitions of the word e-book, and what patterns are there in the definitions?2. How is the e-book definition presented in the context of the public library websites?This study has formulated its own theoretical framework in regards to how you can categorize definitions in four different categories to help see the way a definition is constructed. The framework also contains how different parts of the definition work towards the purpose of the definition.This study has been conducted through a content analysis. Among the public libraries we have studied, we have not observed a definition that was generally used for the word e-book. However the similarities between the definitions were plenty. The definitions most used were descriptive definitions. They tended to contain the same elements but were expressed in a variety of ways. The result showed consistency with the literature in the field.We have also observed that the public library website tends to categorize the information on and/or definition of e-books below a variety of terms. We have also observed that the definition tends to be the first thing mentioned in the part about e-books. The definition tended to be placed above the fold on the webpage. / Program: Bibliotekarie

The purpose of this paper is to study the ongoing discussion concerning e-books at Swedish public libraries. The e-booksituation has as of late gained a lot attention in the media. The main distributor of e-book in Sweden - Elib - is in the centreof this discussion and our goal has been to study the opinions and arguments that have been expressed within articles and blog postsconcerning the situation.We have analysed our articles and blog posts through a qualitative text analysis in order to find the main problems of the e-bookdiscussion and which arguments are used. We have also studied the effect Elib might have on the libraries&apos; collection developmentaccording to the articles and blog posts.We found that the major issues within the e-book situation include Elib&apos;s price model - which is costly for the libraries - thewatermarking and the selection of books available to the libraries. It is also considered, according to the author&apos;s of our articles and blog posts, that the collections at the libraries are affected byElib&apos;s system since the choice of which books to include is given to the publishers, not the libraries or its users.The articles and blog posts agree that a change needs to occur for the e-books future survival at the public libraries. / Program: Bibliotekarie
