Elektroniska böcker på bibliotek : Bibliotekariers och användares syn på elektroniska böcker utifrån intervjuer och samtal / Electronic Books in Libraries : Librarians’ and Users’ Opinions of Electronic Books according to Interviews and Dialogues

Andreasson, Jessica January 2005 (has links)
The purpose of this paper is to describe how librarians andusers think of electronic books in libraries. My questions are:-What are electronic books, and how do they work?-How has electronic books been implemented by librariansin the libraries and on the libraries’ websites?-How do users describe their view of electronic books?-How do the librarians and users think of electronic book inthe future? To be able to answer these questions I have studied relevantliterature, made qualitative interviews with two librarians attwo similar libraries and I had dialogues with several usersElectronic books were introduced 2002 at the two libraries. In the beginning the libraries made different types ofmarketing, but today they only have the website withinformation. Their purpose was to try this out and offer theusers a new media. So far, there are few users who borrowthese books, and maybe it depends on technical conditions.According to the dialogues I had, most of the users have noidea what electronic books are. The advantages of electronicbooks, according to the users, are a fast way to reach a book,it is cheap and you do not have to return the book. Thedrawbacks are a limited choice of books Some of the usersthought they were difficult to use and preferred books withprinted text. However, both librarians and users think that electronicbooks will develop in different ways.

Andersson, Pernilla January 2013 (has links)

Materialitet och läsinteraktion : En undersökning kring ungdomars attityd till ett e-bokformat kontra tryckt bok / Materiality and the interaction of reading : A study of teenagers´ attitudes to the form of e-book versus printed book

Albertsson, Ylva, Grönkvist, Erika January 2016 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to study the importance of materiality for the interaction of reading among teenagers, age 15-16. The purpose is also to study if the attitude to the form of e-book versus the printed book differs depending on how comfortable the teenagers are with the activity of reading. The method we have chosen for this study is the form of semi-structured interviews, four with teenagers who are positive to fiction reading and four with teenagers who say they don´t like fiction reading. We analyse the teenagers´answers by looking at some aspects of materiality to see how these aspects affect the interaction of reading.During the interview the respondents were asked to read one chapter of a book on an Ipad and the next chapter in a printed book. Our study shows that materiality is a factor for the interaction of reading and it can lead to different experiences of reading. Some aspects that the respondents mention as important are the amount of text, the typeface and the feeling of holding a book. The ones who are comfortable with the activity of reading claim they would still choose the printed book after reading both on the Ipad and in the printed book. The ones who are less comfortable with reading are more positive to the e-book, than they were before.

E-boken, den välkomna besökaren : Fyra nya strategier för e-boken på folkbibliotek / The e-book, the welcome visitor : Four new strategies for the e-book at the library

Lindqvist, Frida January 2013 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis was to figure out the feelings that librarians felt towards the e-books at the library. And if it affects their work at the library, especially from a financial point of view. The reason I decided to do this study is because the subject of e-books has become bigger in the last couple of years, and that I got the feeling that the librarians didn’t like them that much. So I did six interviews with six different librarians from different libraries to see if they felt the same thing or if they are in fact positive towards them. The results I received from my study were that the librarians are positive to the e-book. However, they were still worried about the financial situation for example regarding the budget. I compiled the results in to four different strategies, they are in short: Firstly; the libraries are positive to the e-book. Secondly; the library is hopeful to use the e-book to increase reading for people who are struggling with reading. Thirdly; they have a close collaboration with other municipality’s and fourthly; they are welcoming the future and are exited what it will bring. / Program: Bibliotekarie

The main questions are: How do graduate and PhD students use electronic books? To what extent are electronic books used compared to printed books? To find the answers, a user study was carried out at Karlstad University library. The results show that a majority of the respondents are aware of the possibility to use electronic books but prefer to use printed ones if they have to choose. Many respondents also complained about difficulties reading a text on the computer screen. However, 60% of the respondents are of the opinion that the library should continue to purchase electronic books. / Program: Bibliotekarie

Högläsning i förskolan : Vila eller lärtillfälle?

Steinbock, Lena January 2015 (has links)

Cole, Edwin January 2016 (has links)
This thesis is about choosing literary works (fiction) to read in upper secondary school and the factors influencing these choices. I have performed qualitative interviews in order to explore this from three different perspectives, namely the teachers, the students and the school librarians at two different schools. The reason behind why I chose to write this thesis is the decline in reading comprehension among Swedish students in recent years (PISA 2012). I wanted to further examine whether the books that the students have to read have any effect on their motivation to read. This study shows that when the students get to choose books themselves they maintain an intrinsic motivation and that when the teachers choose they are more prone to be driven by extrinsic motivation. However, the teachers participating in this study tend to use group sets of books which share the same theme for the students to choose from instead of letting them read their independent choices. I hope that the conclusions from this thesis can shed some light on how teachers should relate to the book choice and the importance of it.

Åström, Maarit January 2012 (has links)

Lundkvist, Sandra, Pyykkö, Tanja, Söderlund, Sara January 2013 (has links)
