Kartläggning av risker med Pokémon GO

Thorsson Högfeldt, Veronika January 2018 (has links)
Pokémon GO is a popular but relatively new mobile game that came out in the summer of 2016. The idea of the game is to get the players to get outside and get about. It can be seen as positive with fresh air and exercise, but research shows that pedestrians using mobiles in traffic, for example, have a more risky behavior. Therefore, mobile users are exposed to risks such as stumble and damaging their feet or getting hit by cars. This study is a questionnaire with the purpose to survey the risks associated with playing Pokémon GO. The result shows that the players often visit or pass improper places as well as being distracted by the mobile phone and not paying full attention to their surroundings, which can for example lead to collision, There are also other risks, such as some are playing while driving a car or a bicycle, and being exposed to theft when the phone is held in the hand.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Arquivototal.pdf: 4143256 bytes, checksum: 63cda4dd01d5e50a58997ddddb1161bb (MD5) Previous issue date: 2017-08-25 / The character is a fictional being derived from the imagination of an autor wich by criating it, seeks to gift it with abilities, achivments, secrecys, conflicts and intenctions. From a world of wonder the character dives into words and tranforms itself into a "living being of paper painted with ink" (BRAIT,1985), some of it get through other fields such as literature, music, painting, photography, cinema, television and recently the litle mobile screens (cellphones, smartphones, etc.). This recent admision turns our view to the character study in short duration audiovisual narrative made by cellphones and puts us in fornt of a question: how the character develops itself and acts upon conflicts and what are its major particularities. As a starting point, we conduct a historical caught up on the origins of the character, focusing on ancient greek drama we go through its tipologies and analyze some concepts, one of them being the "anti-character" by Fernando Segolin (1978). Through internet, we continue by selecting ten cellphone videos which are included in three main audiovisual genre: fiction, documentary and animation. The first reflections points us to an objective character of short lines, punctual gestures, interaction with a few characters and a quick encounter with the antagonist which is revealed as invisible to the eyes.

Comparison of factors that inhibit the adoption of cellphone banking between low and high income groups in South Africa

Govender, Seelan 01 July 2012 (has links)
In South Africa, the penetration rate of Cellphones is greater than 100 percent. South African banks are leveraging off this technology by providing a bouquet of financial services via the Cellphone – Cellphone banking. However, the adoption of Cellphone banking has been much slower when compared to other electronic banking channels, such as internet banking. The objective of this research was to compare factors that inhibit adoption of Cellphone banking between the low and high income groups. Based on existing innovation adoption theory, there were five factors of adoption identified: Trialability, Perceived Complexity, Perceived Value, Perceived Credibility and Perceived Risk. A telephonic survey was administered. The survey questionnaire contained a series of closed-ended questions relating to the five factors of adoption and a single open-ended question to identify factors not being researched. The results of the survey found that the greatest inhibitor to Cellphone banking was Trialability, followed by Perceived Complexity and Perceived Risk (regardless of income levels). The results of the open-ended questions were grouped in two themes; Personal Preference and Banking Perception. The comparison of results between the open-ended themes found that personal preferences have a significant impact between the low and high income groups. The majority of the high income respondents preferred Internet banking to Cellphone banking. However, banking perceptions had a higher impact on the low income respondents when comparing the two themes. The study establishes that financial institutions should provide a demonstration and give the customers the opportunity to test Cellphone banking in an effort to increase adoption; as this should reduce the perceived complexity and risk associated with this service. / Dissertation (MBA)--University of Pretoria, 2011. / Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) / unrestricted

Using Cellphones to Advance Diabetic Foot Care Practice: A Review of the Literature

Fang, Qiuna 01 January 2020 (has links)
Preventing diabetic foot ulcers among patients diagnosed with diabetes is an important element of care as diabetic foot ulcers present major medical, psychosocial and economic threats. In addition, about 20% of the diabetic foot ulcer cases will ultimately require amputation and cause greater mortality rates. The purpose of this literature review was to evaluate cellphone use to promote diabetic foot care practices among patients with diabetes. Six electronic databases were searched for articles which included text messaging and or phone interventions geared at improving foot care practices. A total of 14 articles dated 2009-2019 met the inclusion criteria and were included in the review. Cellphone use for text messaging and phone calls to advance diabetic foot care practices appears to be promising. Cellphone interventions among clients diagnosed with diabetes were found to have higher adherence with foot examinations, more frequent foot checks, and better overall performance score of diabetic foot ulcer preventive behaviors. This literature review supports cellphone use for text messaging and phone calls to improve diabetic foot care practices. Particularly among populations with health disparities and limited access to healthcare cellphone improves access to care, is uncomplicated and presents a cost-effective approach to improving diabetic foot care practices.

Mobile Phones in Social Settings How and What Mobile Phones are Used for during Face-to-Face Conversations

Hubbert, Maxwell January 2016 (has links)
Mobile phone use while in the presence of physical conversational partners is a reality in modern day life. Many researchers have investigated how different subgroups use mobile phones and the consequences of such use. The goal of this research was to determine how mobile phones are used in social settings when face-to-face conversations are taking place. The main questions that the research attempted to solve were: (1) If the phone use was related to the conversation at hand, (2) if the intensity of phone use was correlated to how the phone was used, (3) and if phones are used during conversations in different ways depending on the relationships and demographics of the conversational partners. The research was conducted in Malmö, Sweden at bars and cafes´ by administering a semi structured verbal interview on people seen using their cell phones while in face-to-face conversations. Relevant demographic information was recorded as well as five open ended questions. The questions were aimed at understanding how the phone was used, and the phones use in relation to the physical conversation. The research was conducted using the research paradigm of Positivism and the data was analyzed using an Inductive research strategy. Uses and Gratifications theory was the main theory that this research was viewed through. In addition, relevant information was drawn from various psychological theories as well as problematic mobile phone research. The findings show that the majority of phone use is unrelated to the conversations at hand. But often this phone use is re-integrated into the conversation at a later time. It was also found that phone use related to information retrieval was most likely to be related to the face-to-face conversation. Additionally, the data showed that conversational partners that use the phone a lot are highly unlikely to be using the phone in relation to the conversation. The data showed that friends are most likely to not use the phone in relation to the conversation.

Prototyper för NFC implementeringar

Al-Ashraf, Samir Daniel, Sefedini, Arban January 2010 (has links)
I dagsläget används tekniken mest i Asien. / Near Field Communication (NFC) is a contactless short distance (approximately 10 centimeters) communication technology, which conveys a more secure connection. NFC is a relatively young technology which is cheap to implement, and user-friendly. NFC is directed to mainly cellphones, where opportunities for implementation of applications are wide. The technology conveys a faster and easier exchange of information, by putting units side by side. At present, the technology is used mostly in Asia. In Europe, no major effort has begun yet, but is expected to. NFC is expected to exist in a majority of cellphones, in the future. This essay treats practical implementation of a “toolbox” with the NFC technology. The goal was to make a “toolbox” with different components. The “toolbox” is intended as a base for implementing NFC applications and for experimenting with the different components. The hardware components are: cellphone, a tag, a RFID module and a microprocessor. The program components consist of a number of code examples. Our work has resulted in three prototypes which together constitute a “toolbox”. The prototypes communicate between any combinations of the components in the “toolbox”: cellphone with tag, reader with tag and reader with cellphone.

Grounded : Locative art and embodied digitality

Said, Mitchell Andrew 21 October 2008 (has links)
My research is comprised of two connected components – a written report, and an original artwork. In the written segment of the research, I critically assess arguments sourced from digital theorists writing mainly in the 1990s, who positioned “cyberspace” as means of bodily escape, physical transcendence and disconnection from lived reality. I link their writings to a larger notion of technological determinism. I use a combination of theoretical sources and case studies to argue that these determinist attitudes are being challenged by the emergence of a recent artistic practice (termed “locative art”), itself made possible through changes in the understanding of the integration of digital information into the material world. The second part of my research consists of an original locative work, entitled “Tree ID”. It is integrated into my written research in my third chapter, in which I discuss the technical function and conceptual background of the work. “Tree ID” functions alongside my case studies as an artistic response to technological determinism, and, additionally, as a practical investigation into the South African context of locative art.

Utilitarian and hedonic drivers of repurchase intent in consumer electronics : a study of mobile phones

Madevu, Hilton 12 May 2012 (has links)
This study sought to understand factors driving repurchase intentions for consumer electronics (CE) hardware and in particular mobile phones. The outcome of the study was expected to be of interest in academia and practice because it develops upon existing literature and identifies actionable variables that could be used to optimise market offerings. Based on a literature review it was hypothesised that the intent was driven by hedonic and utilitarian factors. These included conspicuousness and visibility; product bundling; reliability; technological features, usability of the product and the buyers’ age. The study tested these hypotheses using primary data. The method was employed to confirm the postulated drivers as well as to determine the direction of the effects. Data collection was conducted through a cross sectional internet survey enumerated in August 2010. The survey reached a broad sample of 144 responders. The analysis supported two of the six hypothesised drivers. The supported drivers were conspicuousness and usability. The recommendation was therefore to encourage the CE industry to focus on creating aesthetically appealing, fashionable devices that were intuitively easy to use requiring minimal assistance or product manuals. It also recommends that less emphasis be placed on durability, advanced features, on bundling additional extras and on targeting particular age groups. / Proposal of a methodology for improving low cost GPS receivers positioning.

Lima, Erly Caldas de 08 May 2018 (has links)
The technical development of electronics, the continuous reduction in the size of GNSS receptors, allied with the energy consumption decrease, transformed these products into some integrated circuits or in small Chips as small as size of a button of a shirt. In this way one can promote its integration with countless electronic devices. The association with cell phones was mainly driven by the mandate to enhance services 911 (E911) of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the United States, requiring that all mobile carriers of that country provide all the emergency calls location with good accuracy. So as to fulfill this necessity, the production of Chips in a large scale has been stimulated and therefore the decrease in cost and its popularity. In this way almost in its entirety, cell phones are now manufactured with GPS receivers, which makes these devices one of the cheapest sources to obtain the geopositioning. It turns out that there is a gap in the literature about how precise and accurate the coordinates provided by these equipments can be. This thesis aims through statistical tests and comparison with other GPS receivers and methods, quantify these values and propose a methodology to improve such positioning. To achieve the objective, the structure of the phone\'s operating system was modified in such a way that it was possible to access the embedded GPS Chipset observables and then converted into the RINEX standard raw data file. The tests were carried out with the original equipment and with the modified ones, with an external antenna installation which showed that using the phase measure of the carrier, the equipment can provide a positioning with an average accuracy of 0, 069m, with a default deviation of 0, 047m and a maximum planimetric positioning error of 0, 218m and a minimum of 0, 004m.
