[en] JESUS CHRIST, THE PRINCE OF PEACE: A THEOLOGICAL-PASTORAL STUDY OF BIBLICAL PEACE AND ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH THE PERSON AND THE MESSAGE OF JESUS CHRIST / [pt] JESUS CRISTO, PRÍNCIPE DA PAZ ESTUDO TEOLÓGICO-PASTORAL DA PAZ BÍBLICA E SUA RELAÇÃO COM A PESSOA E A MENSAGEM DE JESUS CRISTO

MARCIO HENRIQUE DA SILVA RIBEIRO 12 September 2003 (has links)
[en] Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, is a theological study of the theme of the Biblical peace, centering on its relationship with the person and the message of Jesus Christ. It summarizes evangelical requirements of an Ethics and of a pastoral action committed to the building of peace. The interest in the study of Biblical peace has its foundations on the fact that peace - a desire of the various peoples throughout history - is present in the Biblical texts when they speak of God`s relationship to humanity and of His salvation project. Departing from an analysis of certain texts of the Old one the New Testament this work tries systemize all the richness and complexity of the theme of Biblical peace. Its main objective is to show how the event Jesus Christ gives a new meaning to this theme. In His person and in His message rests the full meaning of what Biblical peace is, since it is contained in the very process of the Revelation of the face of God, the Father, and in the announcement and establishment of His Kingdom as well. In this fashion, this dissertation shows that a Theology and a Christian Ethics of peace have their foundation on the person and on the message of Jesus Christ.

Since they believe in Yeshua as being Messiah, would they have a Christology? This study contemplates the possibility of distinction in the Messianic Judaism theology, which the major hypothesis is: Messianic Jews have a view in the idea of that Messiah approaches more of Messianology than of a Christology. A qualitative research was conducted on the basis of the literature review on the subject. And for that, were selected as Messianic texts for this analysis the Messianic Jewish Manifest, by Rabbi David Stern and the first two volumes of Jewish Objections Against Jesus, by Rabbi Michael Brown. It was discussed concepts such as dogmatic Christology and Messianology, as this last concept was being proposed by David Flusser in addition to checking the convergences and divergences of the idea of the Messiah for Judaism, Christianity and Messianic Judaism in the first century AD. It was also reported about history of the Messianic-Jewish movement. The collected data throughout this research should be considered to point out to the fact that Messianic-Jewish thought about the Messiah does not seem to correspond to Christological thinking.

No. of bitstreams: 1 DANILO DOURADO GUERRA.pdf: 31229801 bytes, checksum: b25e131e1f31bdfac6a72253b3e68f48 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2018-08-17 / GUERRA, Danilo Dourado. Heroes on the scene: the paradigmatic countercultual construction of mesochristology Johannine. Thesis (PostGraduate Program in Religious Studies) - Pontifical Catholic University of Goias, 2018. This investigation has as object of research the hero incarnation homologesis (confession), in Jo 1,14. Using a diachronic-synchronic analytical methodological referential of pendular type, the objective is to carry out the exegetical-reconstitutive tracing of the Christological content implicit in Jo 1,14 and its interface with the socioreligious context experienced by the Johannine groups. In response to this demand, the hypothesis to be demonstrated is that the discourse of the Johannine hero's incarnation, structured within a prologue sequential poetic, echoes the Christological saga of the community and reveals the genetic-noematic configuration of the Johannine mesochristology. It is a protocristological model that is made heterotopic and theo-political construction in relation to the Roman apotheosis, and, therefore, establishes itself as Christolatric, Christocentric and paradigmatic construct in relation to the imperial cult and the theatercratic structures engendered in it. The main objective of the thesis is to explain that the original Johannine Christianity establishes itself as a Christological-cultual prototype, which kerygmatize and claims a devotional praxis centered on Jesus. In this sense, the mesochristological gens, implicit in the Johannine hero incarnational discourse, was implanted like a paradigmatic homologetic construct in relation to any divinizing and cultual praxis, theatrercratically forged under non-Christocentric hermeneutic devices throughout history. / GUERRA, Danilo Dourado.

Olsen, Jørn Henrik January 2001 (has links)
The title of this thesis is Christ in Tropical Africa - in the Tension Between Identity and Relevance. Within a few years Africa will be the greatest Christian continent, and African Christianity will then no longer see itself as a mere continuation of Western Christianity. On the threshold of the 21st Century, this insight challenges Christian theology and missiology which have for a long time answered the helm of the Western missionary movements. This contribution to the scholarly debate on cultural and religions identity issues deals with the question how the recent development ought to be integrated in a systematic reflection, and how Africans - especially African theologians - themselves attempt to highlight the necessity of a relevant and authentic African Christianity and theology. The post-colonial and partly post-missionary era has resulted in a sense of departure and transition which has created space for a renewed and adjusted conception of the question of identity. This dissertation present a critical discourse on African themes and questions concerning identity issues in the perspectives of studies in the areas of theology, anthropology, philosophy, and religion. The discourse shows the complexity of what is called identity, africanity etc. and threw critical light on a tendency of making generalizations and constructions. Dangers of constructions of which Christian African theologians have not always been sufficiently conscious. The interdisciplinary perspective of this study is widening the question of identity while it still constitutes a hermeneutical key to understand the concerns of Christian theology in the tropical part of Africa. African theology is situated in the tension between identity and relevance. This become obvious in African christological proposals. The thesis put a critical test question to the theologians who have contributed with new Christ-titles and -models: Have they both managed to give grounds for the significance of christology for human freedom and identity (the relevance of christology), and at the same time secured the continuity and agreement with the original theological content of christology (the identity of christology in the New Testament)? The question can only partly be answered affirmatively. In some cases the actual understanding of life and conception of reality in a certain context provides the decisive criterion in the interpretation of Biblical concepts and christological titles. This creates hermeneutic problems which are dealt with in the close of the thesis. /
Contains an English summary

The kingship of Christ in the life and faith of Christians in a black South African township : a missiological evaluation / Adriaan Jan de Visser

De Visser, Adriaan Jan January 2000 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to investigate to what extent the Lordship of Christ is a reality in the life and faith of Christians in the South African township of Soshanguve, north-west of Pretoria. The study is based on empirical research conducted in Soshanguve between 1996 and 1999, among members of the following three denominations: the Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Zion Christian Church, and a group of Pentecostal and charismatic churches. During the first phase the research had a predominantly quantitative nature (survey research). The second phase involved a qualitative research (in depth-interviews, analysis of written documents and sermons). After an introductory chapter and a chapter giving the necessary background, chapter 3 describes the survey research, and chapters 4 to 6 examine the Lordship of Christ as it functions in the Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Zion Christian Church and the Pentecostal/charismatic churches respectively. This research shows that in the faith of many church members the Lordship of Jesus Christ is a vague notion. It is accepted that Jesus Christ has died for our sins in the past, but it is less clear what He is doing presently. The living Christ is a remote figure in the faith of the majority of church members. The gap which is left, is filled by the laws of the church and/or the leadership of the church. Chapter 7 gives an analysis of the results. It appears that several backgrounds have to be taken into account: (1) the influence of African traditional religion, (2) the influence of Western secularism, (3) the influence of specific doctrinal tenets of the given denomination. Chapter 8 offers a Biblical perspective on aspects which have to be dealt with in order to strengthen the notion of the Lordship of Christ in the life and faith of Christians. These are: the concept of God, the concept of salvation, the person of Christ, the Lordship of Christ over the life of the individual believer, and the Lordship of Christ over the world. / Thesis (Th.D.)--Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education, 2001

Rozbor druhých listů z korespondence Cyrila Alexandrijského s Nestóriem / Analysis of the second letters of the correspondence between Cyril of Alexandria and Nestorio

Železník, Pavel January 2018 (has links)
This master's thesis is dedicated to the theological disputation upon the using of the title Theotokos for Virgin Mary that had been finally resolved at the Third Ecumenical Council in Ephesus in 431 AD. The first part deals with the crucial moments of deepening theological knowledge in the Church history in order to show a development of the disputation mainly in the 3rd and 4th century. Although Christology wasn't the main theme of the teachings of the Church in that early period some of the theologians especially Irenaeus, Origen, Paul of Samosata and Apollinaris of Laodicea also raised some issues in the field of Christology. The end of the first part offers an inside into the theological mindset of both sides of the disputation - Diodorus of Tarsus and Theodor of Mopsuestia on the one side and the Orthodox fathers Athanasius, the Cappadocian Fathers, Didymus the Blind and John Chrysostome on the other side. The second part presents the written sources of the disputation and offers an insight to its beginning and development. The third and main part focuses on the correspondence between Cyril of Alexandria and Nestorius mainly on their Second Epistles containing the major topics of the disputation. It discusses a content of these two epistles and also analyses and compares theological arguments of both...

Humanisme et Lumière du Christ chez Henri de Lubac / Humanism and light of the Christ at Henri de Lubac

Geneste, Philippe 22 February 2014 (has links)
If the theology at Lubac is a theology of opportunity, its humanism is a converted humanism, converted to the Christ! There is at H. de Lubac a real quest of an authentic humanism which is not against the man, but for the man, what only the faith to the Christ can guarantee. It is the reason why our author envisages the humanism turned to the most human religion, worth knowing the religion of the Embodied Verb. Because this concept of humanism, united with a too big overestimation of the man, quickly overturns into an anthropological drift. In the Christian humanism, it is less the existence of the man than his vocation which is highlighted. On the other hand, there is a connection between the peculiarity of the person and the solidarity of the humanity. The Christian humanism thwarts all the forms of individualism and collectivism by contemplating the Christ under the modes of the density and the unity. The conception of the humanism dresses at Lubac an ontological density and a fertility. If the antique wise person is a separate being because his pondering remains solitary, the saint, in the Christ, works on the definitive metamorphosis of the Universe. Lubac draws up the report according to which the Christ cannot be exceeded because it is in him that everything is carried out. The event Jesus Christ plays a decisive role for the humanity, it is the principle of " Quite there all ".

[en] THE GOD OF JESUS OF NAZARETH ANNOUNCED TO THE POSTMODERN SUBJECT: A READING FROM THE CHRISTOLOGIES OF EDWARD SCHILLEBEECKX AND JURGEN MOLTMANN / [pt] DEUS DE JESUS DE NAZARÉ ANUNCIADO AO SUJEITO PÓS-MODERNO: UMA LEITURA A PARTIR DAS CRISTOLOGIAS DE EDWARD SCHILLEBEECKX E JURGEN MOLTMANN

JAYRO ALVES SOARES 21 December 2018 (has links)
[en] This research focuses on the study of the topic The God of Jesus of Nazareth announced to the post-modern subject. The aim is to develop the theme from the Christologies of the theologians Edward Schillebeeckx e Jurgen Moltmann. Such research is aimed at the interaction between the existential images of God presented by Schillebeeckx and Moltmann on the praxis of Jesus of Nazareth with the intention of frame foundation for a rescue of the genuine humanized and relational image of God for the life of the modern human being. The work is developed in four phases that intends to structure this thesis: In a first moment is described a panoramic construction of the existential human being image, from the modern rationalist paradigm to the post-modern universe; In a second moment is proposed to glimpse the face of the God Abba of Edward Schillebeeckx in Jesus of Nazareth; The third moment aims to reflect upon the face of the suffering God of Jürgen Moltmann in Jesus of Nazareth and in the fourth moment the main points of the previous chapters s reflections are taken up and it is intended to propose by the christological readings of Schillebeeckx and Moltmann and their postulates s peculiar enrichment a rescue of the existential image of the God announced by Jesus of Nazareth as a model for a fruitful ethical reproduction to our current time. The christological reading of these theologians proposes an image of a touched God who is eager to relate graciously with the people and the world around himself. A wholesome image to be reproduced by the post-modern human being.
