Figurações da escrita: as estratégias metaficcionais na produção romanesca de António Lobo Antunes / Writing figurations: the metafictional strategies in the novel production of António Lobo Antunes

Diana Navas 19 June 2012 (has links)
This thesis proposes to verify the different metafictional strategies used by Anto,,nio Lobo Antunes in his novel production. Considering that the construction of a metafictional narrative demands two important aspects the linguistic aspect and narrative structure, as well as a change in the readers role the present study undertakes a reading of the authors novel production in order to demonstrate that, if in the first novels the metafiction presents itself with the work composition emphasizing its own ontology, exposing its construction as specific entity and to a certain extent independent, afterwards it reaches the questioning of the narrative structure and the emergence of the narrator in the novel as an author, procedures which imply changes in the readers role. This possible reading considers three novels: Memória de Elefante (1979), Não entres tão depressa nessa noite escura (2000) and Que cavalos são aqueles que fazem sombra no mar? (2009), titles which dialog with the other pieces of work of the author. More than showing the use of the strategies, its demonstrated as, through them, the author allows us to discuss important issues of the literary theory, such as the conception of Literature and Tradition, the confluence of literary genres, and the redimensionament of the roles assumed by the author and the reader in the contemporary narrative. The present study also aims to demonstrate how, always through the language, Lobo Antuness novel dialogs with the context in which it is inserted, pointing to a portrait of the contemporary man and world.

The research seeks for the elements which may enlighten the subject who states his confession and also searches for the reasons that move him to act with violence against his listener. In Carneiro’s novel, the narrator presents this need to confess himself in order to inflict fear on a victim. Thus, a process akin to an antropophagic chain, in which the narrator swallows his listener while the reader swallows the narrator, was identified. The probed content of this paper has to do with the purposes that lead this confessor to enunciate a discourse full of justifications to his violence. Therefore, three goals can be distinguished in this research: to describe and analyze how the notion of hybridism appears in both narrative agencies: character’s discourse and literary form; to outline a profile that helps to access the subjectiveness of the narrator; to hypothesize what justify the adoption of confession followed by murderer as a solution to the dilemma of this confessor. In addition to these aims, there is the attempt of explaining in which ways this particular structure of the novel enables to name it contemporary.

In this study, we observed how the novel A expedição Montaigne (1982), by Antonio Callado, incorporates in its narrative economy, the issue of indigenous peoples. This attempt to understand the approach of the Indian in a specific novel opened space for wider discussion. We seek, then, to understand what facets are coated the representation of the Indian in contemporary Brazilian novel, here understood as that novel produced from the second half of the twentieth century, supported mainly by reflections of Walnice Nogueira Galvão, who find themselves in a systematic test of the 1970, whose Indianism revisited" we took borrowed. Moreover, we discuss how the other novels, by Antonio Callado, produced during the same period, also deal with the issue of indigenous and, in parallel, pressing issues in a very specific moment in Brazilian history: the military dictatorship. To this end, we guided by our discussions in some studies critical of the singularities of the socio-historical, political and cultural Brazilian context of the second half of the twentieth century. As is the case of Tania Pellegrini, Regina Dalcastagné, Walnice Nogueira Galvão, and in the readings of novelist by Antonio Callado, whose main authors are Ligia Chiappini Moraes Leite, Alcmeno Bastos e Rejane Rocha. Thus, in an attempt to tie the threads, we finally reflect on how the narratological resources are mobilized in A expedição Montaigne to enable both a reassessment of the incongruities of the dictatorial regime that is already ending, as well as the historical and ideological contradictions that shape the representation of Indians in Brazilian novel.

O pacto das elites e sua representação no romance em Angola e Moçambique / The pact of elites and its representation in novels in Angola and Mozambique

Sueli da Silva Saraiva 16 August 2013 (has links)
The Angolan and Mozambican literatures, which rose largely as a landmark of intellectual resistance in the anticolonial struggle, have been still a fertile ground for representations of the real conditions of existence in the African context. In the fictional discourse the confrontation between this existence and the projects of a community idealistically imagined during the anticolonial struggle brings to the plots the advances, setbacks or stagnation of a social situation marked by the old and new covenants of globalized capitalism. This research aims to analyze comparatively the forms of literary representation of these capitalism\' agents: the elites in Angola and Mozambique in their articulation with international domination. Our object of study is formed by a set of novels published after the first two decades of political independence (conquered in 1975), and their plots highlight especially the representation of the leadership groups of the new nations: Maio, mês de Maria (1997), by Boaventura Cardoso; Predadores (2005), by Pepetela; O sétimo juramento (2000), by Paulina Chiziane, and O último voo do flamingo (2000), by Mia Couto. In our analysis, the marks of the faustian myth, an element of intertextuality in these novels among themselves, and in relation to others literary systems, had emerged as a productive presence for the understanding of these countries, and their literatures in a more comprehensive context. In order to verify how the intellectual elite, in this case represented by writers playing the role of social actors, has responded to the formation of political-economic elites since the decay of colonialism to the end of the post-1975 social conflicts, we have also searched some critical interventional texts, which were expressed by authors of these two countries.

Événement et dynamique événementiale chez José Saramago et Daniele Del Giudice / The event and the dynamic of the happening in the novels of Jose Saramago and Daniele Del Giudice

Brito, Amélie 11 February 2012 (has links)
Daniele Del Giudice's novels, and the second part of Jose Saramago's novelistic work, are built around a neutral event, happening surprisingly and beyond the possibilities contained by the diegetic world. Such an event can be considered as « événemential » in the terms of Claude Romano's philosophical analysis. This thesis examines the place of such an event in the poetics of the two writers, studies its diegetic and narrative specificities as well as the characteristics of its use, and analyses its implications in giving shape to the world figured by the novels. The use of such an event is part of the search of a possible narration begun by the two writers in the early 1980's : this event disrupts the traditional novelistic pattern by drawing attention to a process of happening that is indeterminate and constantly disrupted, all the while providing a narrative dynamic that disturbs its own organisational logic. Both writers aim to expose the movement of the happening, echoing the extra-diegetic reality. The latter appears as woven from a multiplicity of unstable elements which combine to form a changing totality. The narrative shows its relational structure and its dynamic. An experience that is both tangible and visible is created, anchored in the specificities of language and narration, in a way that offers a perspective on the structuring of the sensory world. The use and role of the event in the two writer's novels reveals shared concerns and gestures towards a tendency of contemporary narrativisation : the desire to make palpable the dynamics of an indetermined, aimless and uncertain happening, while rendering in and through narrative the force of a presence.

Perron-Nadeau, Florent 08 1900 (has links)
Dany Laferrière, recently admitted to the prestigious Académie française, has produced a considerable work in the past thirty years. Two of his first novels, Comment faire l'amour avec un Nègre sans se fatiguer and Cette grenade dans la main du jeune Nègre est-elle une arme ou un fruit? are characterised by a rich and varied intertextuality. The thread of the narrative of these two novels is built by fragments. In the first text, a fictional writer is working on a novel titled Paradis du dragueur nègre. In the second novel, we find the same writer, but he travels through the United States in order to write a report on America. In both cases, we find staged writing by a fictional writer who has many similarities to Laferrière himself. The reader witnesses the construction of the story he is reading through an original « autobiographical novel ». In fact, there are many resemblances, even correspondences, between the two stories. Both Laferrière's novel themes, style and genre, are part of a « genealogy » of texts that can be grouped into literary « families ». We will then try, in the following research, to define and understand the role of theses « families » and illustrate how the appropriation of these texts allows the author to be inspired and to question these texts from the past. We will therefore study the intertextual references of these literary « families » in the first two chapters of our research and then study more specifically the construction of the figure of the writer and his literary space through these two novels. KEY WORDS : Dany Laferrière ; intertextuality ; autofiction ; contemporary novel ; Quebec literature.

É o cheiro, é o ralo, é o campo: uma análise do caso Lourenço Mutarelli em sua entrada no campo literário brasileiro / Its the smell, its the drain, its the field: an analysis of the case Lourenço Mutarelli in his admission in the Brazilian literary field

Coelho, Paulo Vítor 26 October 2018 (has links)
This work analyzes the transition of the author Lourenço Mutarelli between fields, from the comics field to the literary field, in which O cheiro do ralo (2007) realize this process. The first novel has analytical difficulties of form and themes that possibly still bring remnants of comics author. These difficulties produce frequent misunderstandings in value judgement of evaluation and classification of Mutarelli\'s work, when they do not fall into sudden reactions to their experimental production or artistic origin. We recognize that this entry is problematic and it is evident, due to analysis methods that do not take into account the dynamics of the contemporary Brazilian literary field and its producers, that makes it tough to comprehend his first novel, formaly and thematically, and the act that it represents. Thus, this work focuses on the problem taking into account the particularity of the dynamics of the medium of comics and the literary field, combined with the analytical reading of the literary text. We will inves-tigate the relations established by the author with the producers in this movement, and in which level his first novel expresses this complexity. Moreover, we will see how the generation of value is laid down to the author and his work, supported by the descriptions and theorizations about the dynamics of the literary field (Bourdieu). And finally, how O cheiro do ralo set up new problems about the literary form and the contemporary production of litera-ture, including in that spaces in the literary field not yet privileged to the academic description or analysis.
