Um estudo sobre as motivações inconscientes presentes na escolha profissional do estudante de psicologia / A study on the existing unconscious motivations in the professional choice of psychology undergraduate students.Abreu Filho, Antonio Geraldo de 15 April 2005 (has links)
This dissertation aims at studying the existing unconscious motivations in the professional choice of a psychology career of first and second year undergraduate students, trying to understand the relation between latent, unconsciousness and manifest, consciousness content of this choice from the theoretical framework of Melanie Klein. The research was carried out through two investigation tools: Picture 1 of TAT (Thematic Apperception Test), with the objective of comprehending the content of the answers at an unconscious level, through the projection mechanism, and the use of the Semi-directed Interview, which would have the student act more naturally. This would allow us to observe the students posture, reactions and the content of his/her answers at a conscious level. We have found that the student had varied perceptions in relation to Picture 1 stimulus and they presented several reparation combinations at an unconscious and conscious level. Based on the reparation suggested by Bohoslavsky, two other types of reparation were included for us: authentic/manic and manic/authentic, by means of clinical study, due to the functioning of mental dynamics, in which we have examined the elements mentioned in the stories, the content where these stories took place, how the account was given and the sort of suggestion offered. Through the analysis of the answers, we have verified that what was displayed at a conscious level regarding the psychologist career choice not always coincide with the unconscious level. This reveals the importance of taking the question of the unconscious content existing in that choice into consideration.

Validation of the Adams Influence Model (AIM)Adams, Jeffrey Matthew January 2008 (has links)
Thesis advisor: Dorothy A. Jones / Understanding Chief Nurse Executive (CNE) influence is essential for the discipline of nursing. There are approximately 5000 CNEs in the United States, all are tasked with being the primary identifiable leader representing organizations in which they are employed and the nursing profession of which they are a part. In this capacity, the CNE is the gatekeeper for the advancement of the majority of the 2.4 million nurses practicing in the U.S. Literature suggests that early CNEs lacked influence and often were not recognized members of organizational executive teams. Today, after two decades of struggle, CNEs are identified as essential executive team members. However, they still self identify as being less influential than their C-suite counterparts, leaving us to question, "Having gotten to the table, now what?" This study was designed as an initial step toward answering this question through Validation of the Adams Influence Model (AIM). The AIM is a framework that can be used to understand the influence of the CNE in the acute care setting. The study exposed the AIM to a qualitative data set collected as part of an academic medical center's Survey of the Professional Practice Environment. Directed content analysis was used to categorize survey responses and identify influence content toward validation and refinement of the AIM's operational definitions. Study results validated AIM influence factors and influence attributes with some refinement. In addition to development of a refined AIM, study findings also helped identify continued research opportunities. These research potentials included the exploration of; influence instrument development, the influence process, differences between influence and power, and the relationship between CNE influence, practice/ work environments and patient outcomes. As a discipline, nursing must continue to understand the influence of the CNE. These individuals are leading the profession, at what pace and in what direction cannot be left to chance. / Thesis (PhD) — Boston College, 2008. / Submitted to: Boston College. Can television promote a more progressive definition of rape and help delegitimize it?: Rape in Law and Order: Special Victims UnitRamos Hernández, Isabel January 2016 (has links)
Thesis advisor: Lynda Lytle Holmstrom / Rape is a socially constructed behavior used in patriarchal societies to devalue women and ensure male supremacy. Being socially constructed means that the definition of rape can change. This thesis addresses the question of whether an established institution—television—can promote a more progressive definition of rape and help delegitimize it. It uses a feminist content analysis to examine the main themes on 14 episodes of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit (SVU) aired from 2012-2015. It is qualitative and inductive in nature, approached from a grounded theory perspective. The data demonstrate that SVU does, to some extent, present a more progressive view of rape instead of perpetuating the common stereotypes of rape. Essentially, SVU represents a new variety of definitions of rape that are reflective of white, privileged, heterosexual and young women's experiences in the United States. Race, class, sexual orientation and identity are barely taken into account even though many social inequalities based on them characterize American life. / Thesis (BA) — Boston College, 2016. / Submitted to: Boston College. Nyutexaminerade sjuksköterskors upplevelse av mentorskapMalkolmsson, Hanna, Johansson, Therese, Lindberg, Karin January 2019 (has links)
Background: There is a lack of nurses in today's healthcare. Which results in the number of experienced nurses decreases and it becomes more difficult for newly graduated nurses to get support in their new profession. The transition from student to responsible nurse is described by many as challenging and intensive. Purpose: The purpose of the study was to describe the experience of mentors' importance for newly graduated nurses during the first year of work in a medicine and geriatric clinic. Method: Qualitative semi-structured interview study and an inductive method has been used. Which means that the study is based on the participants' own experiences. Eleven newly graduated nurses were interviewed who worked at a county hospital in southern Sweden. Result: Through a qualitative content analysis, three themes emerged with associated sub-themes. The nurse's way of working is the first theme (nurse´s approach, time pressure, responsibility). The second theme is safe care (patients’ safety, communication, scientific evidence) and the third theme is interaction (structure, availability, support). Conclusions: In the study we found that mentors are of importance and safety during new nurses the first time in the business.

Reimaginging Shakespeare in the Young Adult Contemporary NovelUnknown Date (has links)
This research focuses on how Young Adult (YA) novelists adapt Shakespeare’s plays to address the concerns of a contemporary teenage audience. Through the qualitative method of content analysis, I examined adaptations of the three most commonly read texts in the high school curriculum: Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, and Hamlet. The research looked for various patterns in the adaptations and analyzed the choices made by the authors in aligning their texts to or deviating from the original plays. A final chapter addresses practical classroom application in using adaptations to teach the plays to high school students. / Includes bibliography. / Thesis (M.A.)--Florida Atlantic University, 2017. / FAU Electronic Theses and Dissertations Collection

Linus, Vedmar, Mattias, Bengtsson January 2019 (has links)
We have studied how three morning papers and three evening papers from Sweden’s three major cities (Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmo) frame so called exposed areas as opposed to wealthy areas. The result shows that the level of crime reporting is higher in exposed areas and that it’s mostly men with Swedish names that takes part in the reporting. The number of police officers and lawyers that gets to speak on behalf of the exposed areas is also high and quite few persons that actually live in exposed areas gets to speak in the reporting. There is a wider variety in the reporting from the rich areas, with crime reporting being present but not to the same prominent level as in exposed areas. There is also more of a gender equality in the reporting from rich areas.

The literature indicates the growing interest about pain and religion. Concerning the concept of total pain and the framework of psychophysics, the present study aimed to develop the Assessment Instrument of Religious Items (IACOR). The study included 240 subjects divided into six groups according to religious denomination (catholic, evangelical and spiritualists) and according to the practice performing (members and leaders). Data collection was conducted through semi-structured interview that encompassed sociodemographic characteristics and general perceptions about specific religions and by an instrument drawn up on the basis of scales available in the literature and our experience. In interviews aspects regarding age, gender, profession, the former religion and education were raised. Categories of analysis were raised: time affiliation, initiation of religious practice and changes in affiliation, liability for the acts and relationship with death, description of God, awareness of the existence of profound experiences, chance of reward, increased faith in proximity to death, religion in an attempt to explain human limitations, relationship between religion and science and the religion of the past and present in relation to science. Regarding IACOR scale, the five items with higher scores among all groups were : \" I believe that nature should be respected \" ( 9.94 ± 0.28 ), \" I believe that all living beings deserve respect \" ( 9.81 ± 0.64 ) , \" My life is a process of transformation \" ( 9.59 ± 1.11 ), \" Making a life worth living \" ( 9.51 ± 1.21 ) and \" I feel that my life has purpose and meaning \" ( 9.47 ± 1.22). The items refer to the dimensions: relationship with the environment - creation, in the first and second items and general ideas about life, in the third, fourth and fifth items. The five items were lower attribution : \"There is no life after death \" ( 0.82 ± 2.41), \" I tried to handle it on my own without the help of God \" ( 1.75 ± 2.68 ), \" A person can be complete without seeking an active spiritual life \" ( 2.06 ± 3.25 ), \" I do not know how to begin to solve my problems and understand death as one of those problems \" ( 2.09 ± 2 74 ) and \" I cannot understand the purpose of death \" ( 2.12 ± 3.29). These items refer to dimensions respectively: postmortem without continuity, negative relationship with God, no spiritual practice and negative relationship with death in the last two items. From the analysis of the interview and scale of IACOR, we could perceive the existing associations between participants\' perceptions and constructs of religious denomination of which are part and highlights the need to understand and address the religious phenomenon as an integral part of being human as well as a potential resource management and the modulation of pain exists, expressed by pain in the face of issues related to death, finitude and hopelessness

Music in services marketing: an investigation about the roles music plays in service environments / Música no marketing de serviços: uma investigação sobre os papéis da música em ambientes de serviçosFurtado, Wilderson Moisés 30 October 2018 (has links)
As a significant distribution of ambient music and the emergence of companies offering the environmental-musicalization service could be noted, this thesis aimed at investigating the roles of music in service environments. Herein, it was presented the evolution and application of music in marketing and services marketing researches in order to contextualize the state of art of the literature, such that the functionalities of music could afterwards be identified and categorized into roles. Moreover, the study discussed the market practices related to the utilization of music in service places and had these practices compared to the literature. It is important to mention that in this thesis, the service environments were found to be the restaurants and clothing stores, once the participants of the study brought cases and examples related to these contexts. Also, it is relevant to say that the thesis was conducted from the qualitative methodological approach and its design was based on the content analysis analytical approach. By this, a systematic review of the literature was conducted in the way the selection of music-in-marketing scholars followed some criteria and the thesis\' analytical goal of operationalizing the functionalities of music in service places could be justified. The field phase of the thesis\' content analysis was characterized by the in-depth interviews with marketing specialists that had been being dealing with the environmental music in service places and the operational observations in some musicalization providers and clients. Hence, three main roles could be identified to categorize the functionalities of music brought by the interviews and observations: the role of being a commodity, the role of being a sound, and the role of being inspirational. As a theoretical implication, it can be highlighted the influence of music on the service environment\' employees and vice-versa. As a practical implication, it was suggested to the musicalization providers and clients to target the consumer outcomes other than the stay duration.

Davidsson, Rebecca, Johansson, Annika January 2019 (has links)
Background: A family member is a person within the family or a relative who supports or care for a close relative, which in this context refers to the patient. The patient experiences a partially lack of support from the nurse, but support from family members is felt to be significant. Aim: To describe family members’ experience of supporting a close relative during the course of a cancer disease. Method: A qualitative, manifest content analysis of blogs with an inductive approach. Findings: Three categories are presented: Find life joy, Recurrent needs and Emotional challenges. It is important to maintain a positive lifestyle and seize the time. There is a longing for change, to add or remove something to cope with the situation. Regardless, everyday life is characterized by suffering. They experience an internal stress and an inadequacy. Conclusion: It was important that the needs of the family members were satisfied. If they were not, suffering made it difficult remain the energy to be a support for the close relative. This knowledge can be developmental for the nurses’ work.
