Hevlín – sídlo v krajině / Hevlín – place in the landscape

Hajšmanová, Adéla Unknown Date (has links)
The thesis Uncharged-charged – new energy for the customs house building deals with a project of a community and cultural centre with an accommodation that reflects specific needs of the rural region on the borders. The core is a conversion of unused historical customs house building near the Hevlín–Laa an der Thaya border crossing to an attractive place serving especially the locals as a supportive environment for their activities. It also brings a new cultural options to the region. The layout adjusts the building to its new function and supports some of the qualities of the current state. There is a new building added as an accommodation for the tourists (especially cyclists and canoeists) travelling at the international cycle tracks or the river Dyje, which cross the location. Also there is a newly designed orchard/campsite surrounding the buildings serving for the accomodation as well.

Vestin, Stina January 2022 (has links)
Is there a difference in work experience for social workers if they work for the social services in the city or in the countryside? Problems such as these seeded the idea behind the thesis, and was narrowed down to the following research question; to study social workers description of how they work with their clients and if there were any differences in their descriptions depending on organizational structure. The social workers interviewed throughout this thesis were employed within the municipalities social service and worked with decision making concerning social be nefits. Two aspects were of particular interest; differences and similarities of the social workers descriptions related to population size of the municipalities and if the social workers expressed that they could work in a holistic manner with their clients.  This study was conducted with the help of eight semistructured qualitative interviews in six municipalities of varying sizes. The material was later analyzed with the help of constructive grounded theory with inspiration taken from social psychological theories about safe social bonds. The result of the analysis was generating the term the self as a tool and the study showed that the generated term was more prevalent in the descriptions from social workers that were employed in smaller municipalities compared to the social services in larger municipalities. Institutional theory was used to further analyze the results and their implicaitons for social work. The study showed that there is some discrepancy between what social workers are taught during their education and what they are expected to do when employed by the municipality social services.

Lyfta och utveckla mötesplatser på landsbygden genom gestaltning : Studieobjekt lanthandel Kalvsvik / Raise and develop of meeting places in the countryside through design : Study object country store Kalvsvik

Medin, Erica, Runesson, Matilda January 2022 (has links)
In this thesis, the subject of meeting places in the countryside and the importance of design in increasing the place's outdoor environment and its attractiveness are studied. Sweden's countryside and smaller towns often lack structured and active meeting places. One of the contributing factors is urbanization. The purpose of the study is to investigate and strengthen the knowledge about the significance of design at the countryside. The study conducts research from a general perspective on the design of meeting places in rural areas. At the same time, an investigation is being carried out into an existing site, with the property designation Växjö Kalvsvik 25:2, where a country store is located. The study's conclusion is that it is not obvious that measures highlighted in the study can be applied in all places because design is situational. Thus, there is no ready-made template to follow. At the same time, the study has clarified that the concepts of architecture design and design are rarely emphasized for research purposes.

Borba, Maria de Fátima Alves January 2017 (has links)

Guimond, Laurie 18 January 2012 (has links)

Renewing Athens : the ideology of the past in Roman Greece

McHugh, Sarah January 2017 (has links)
In this thesis we explore the period of renewal that Athens experienced during the second century AD. This century saw Athens at the peak of her cultural prominence in the Roman Empire: the city was the centre of the League of the Panhellenion and hosted a vibrant sophistic scene that attracted orators from across the Greek world, developments which were ideologically fuelled by contemporary conceptions of Classical Athens. While this Athenian 'golden age' is a standard feature of scholarship on Greek culture under Rome, my thesis delves further to explore the renewal of the urban and rural landscapes at this time and the relationship between that process and constructions of Athenian identity. We approach the renewal of second-century Athens through four lenses: past and present in the Ilissos area; the rhetoric of the Panhellenion; elite conflict and competition; and the character of the Attic countryside. My central conclusions are as follows: 1. The renewal of Athens was effected chiefly by Hadrian and the Athenian elite and was modelled on an ideal Athenian past, strategically manipulated to suit present purpose; the attractions of the fifth-century golden age for this programme of renewal meant that politically contentious history of radical democracy and aggressive imperialism had to be safely rewritten. 2. Athens and Attica retained their uniquely integrated character in the second century. Rural Attica was the subject of a powerful sacro-idyllic ideology and played a vital role in concepts of Athenian identity, while simultaneously serving as a functional landscape of production and inhabitation. 3. The true socio-economic importance of the Attic countryside as a settled and productive landscape should be investigated without unduly privileging the limited evidence from survey, and by combining all available sources, both literary and documentary, with attention to their content, cultural context and ideological relevance.
