Färdiga - RO! : En etnologisk studie av kyrkbåtsrodden på Siljan

Håll, Jonas January 2020 (has links)
In the Swedish peasant society, the church was an important venue. In areas were the church in the parish was located nearby a lake, the easiest way to reach the church was by boat. This was the case in several parishes around the lake Siljan in the province Dalarna, which is the focal point of this study. The villages were large, and the villagers would organise themselves in large boats, so called church-boats. Due to technological innovations, as one important aspect, there were no longer any need for the church-boats at the time of the turn of the 20th century. Some decades into the new century the old boats were once again taken into use and new boats of the same type were taken into production. In 1936 an organized racing competition with church-boats was initiated, and this still lives on today. This study examines the contemporary customs surrounding church-boats on Siljan in the character of competition as well as journeys to the church. The main part of the material is collected through ethnological fieldwork, conducted through interviews and observation/participant-observation, supplemented with a wide range of other material such as internet sources as well as textual and visual material. Aspects that are highlighted is the different characters of the custom, how the custom today is expressed in relation to the past, how local identity is expressed through the custom and what role its performers see for the custom today and for the future. One aspect that is highlighted is the stagnated interest in the usage of the church-boats but narratives with a positive tone are given room as well. A crucial proposition of the study is how the custom in its era as revitalized cultural heritage is filled with new values. Its historical purpose is no longer of relevance and today the usage of the church-boats comes with other purposes such as a cultural historical interest, tourism and sport. It is also shown how changes and preservation both serves as necessary components for the further existence of the cultural heritage. Crucial theoretical frameworks that is used, apart from cultural heritage and revitalization, are performance and nostalgia.

An evaluation of the Medrave quality system used in Region Dalarnas healthcare

Ghaderi, Simko January 2022 (has links)
How do we become better at saving lives? How do we improve the quality of the encounters with our patients? Quality systems in the healthcare are functioned and designed to answer the above-mentioned questions. They include tools that allow the user to perform analysis on patients’ data to improve the quality of care. One does this, by looking for patterns in the data that results in negative outcomes. In the year of 2019, Region Dalarna implemented a quality system named Medrave M4. Since then, an evaluation on the use of this quality system within this region has yet not been done. As a way of getting new perspectives on the benefits and cons of quality systems in the healthcare, this thesis chose to evaluate the use of Medrave M4in Region Dalarna. The purpose was to find out what the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats were with the system. And to determine if the quality of care has improved since Region Dalarna implemented the system. The study's questions have been answered by reviewing previous research, analysing collected data, interviewing relevant people, and observing the Medrave quality system. These parameters have been compared and have been analysed to answer the questions in depth. By analysing the collected data from these sources, the results are that the benefits of utilizing quality systems in the healthcare are diverse and many. The primary care of Region Dalarna managed the vaccinations of Covid–19 much better because of the quality system. It allowed them to easily identify patients in most need of the vaccinations. The quality system has also allowed comparison of results with other organisations. It also supports research and made it possible to reduce unnecessary prescription of medicine to the patients. The disadvantages of using the system are that there is a risk of patient data being leaked. The study also showed that the quality system did not interact optimally with other systems, which can make the work for the staff more difficult. It has also been seen that there is a lack of knowledge within the staff regarding the benefits of the quality system, this in turn can lead to the business unnecessarily abolishing the system.

I stensmedernas landskap : En rumslig analys av de bifaciala pilspetsarna från Dalarna / In the landscape of stone knappers : A spatial analysis of the bifacial arrowheads from Dalarna

Lindblad, Tova January 2021 (has links)
A spatial analysis of the bifacial arrowheads from the Swedish county of Dalarna, located in the inland area of middle Sweden, is presented in this thesis. The study aims to understand how the arrowheads relate to land use and mobility in the landscape. Produced to be mobile and portable, arrows are of sorts synonymous with movement and mobility. Side by side with an exploration of mobility, the activities in the landscape surrounding the arrowheads are investigated with the concept of taskscape. Bifacial arrowheads are found all over Sweden, and in the northern parts they were used most extensively during the Early Metal Age (2000 BC–1 BC). The raw materials used for producing the arrowheads in Dalarna are various local stone materials, but the raw materials have also been spread over long distances, which indicate high mobility or an established contact network. Waterways and ridges in the landscape are suggested as possible communication routes. The bifacial arrowheads are found on different types of dwellings in the landscape, many of them on sites with a mixed chronology. The area by the lake Venjan stands out with its numerous workshop sites, which have a large material of points in red quartzite sandstone, indicating that specialization has taken place. In other parts of Dalarna, the arrowheads are understood as part of a standard toolkit. The study shows the possibilities to analyze archaeological material in the Swedish inland forest areas, which archaeological sites and material needs to be further investigated.

Lille Skarelius, Mimmi January 2013 (has links)

The Importance of Work-Life Balance Opportunities and Support from the Perspective of Nursing Stu-dents in Dalarna, Sweden

Hank, Nadine, Wänn, Anna January 2016 (has links)
There is a shortage of nurses leading to challenges in recruitment in Sweden and many other countries. Especially for less populated regions recruitment can be chal-lenging. Nurses often face difficulties with work-life balance (WLB). This study aims to identify the importance of WLB opportunities and support that make a work-place attractive from the perspective of nursing students studying in Dalarna. A questionnaire was distributed via email to 525 students enrolled in the nursing bach-elor program at Dalarna University. They were asked to rate the importance of 15 sub questions regarding WLB opportunities and support. These sub questions were asked in order to analyze the importance of 15 components regarding WLB oppor-tunities and support. 196 students (37 percent) answered the questionnaire. Three WLB components, working from home, childcare and rooms for breastfeeding, were found to be not important to nursing students studying in Dalarna. This was reason-able due to the profession of nursing and the WLB support provided by the Swedish government. Cultural factors, such as the organization being positive towards using WLB opportunities and support, were more important than structural factors, such as the possibility to work part-time. Moreover, to have a manager that is supportive towards using WLB opportunities and support was found to be the most important factor and having workplace practical support such as childcare was found least im-portant. Furthermore, contrary to the expected results, no statistical significance was found on the influence on the importance of all combined relevant WLB opportuni-ties and support by the sociodemographic variables; gender, semester of studies, age, having children, months of work experience and work experience in the healthcare sector. However, nine individual components were found to be influ-enced by one or more sociodemographic variables. Therefore, some recommenda-tions on how to target specific groups of individuals were made. However, the con-clusion of the study is that, regardless of the sociodemographic variables and gov-ernmental support, organizations should offer new nurses opportunities and support to gain a balance between work and life, especially in terms of cultural factors.

Nationell identitet i konsten : Peter Johansson dekonstruerar mytbilden om svenskhet / National identity in the art : Peter Johansson deconstructs the myth of Swedishness

Edoff Torstensson, Frida January 2006 (has links)

The purpose of this examination is to identify how notions of Swedishness is created artistically, and from where these notions come. My method is to make a study on exhibition catalogues on the theme Swedishness/Nordism, with focus on the contemporary Swedish artist Peter Johansson. With a retrospect of his childhood in Dalecarlia, he investigates a Swedish iconography with it’s roots in national romanticism, which for more than one hundred years has been preserved and exploited of the tourist industry to market Sweden. It’s this monotonous iconography that Johansson deconstructs to make it appear like something else – namely an iconography based on ethnic purity, which pushes away the foreign and protects the own. Some of the exhibition catalogues confirm the national romantic iconography which has been brought to life through commercial forces right up to now, but from the nineties there is a tendency to question the validity of this homogeneous image of Sweden. Peter Johansson’s way of using deconstruction as a method to exposure the myth of Swedishness involves a continuous reformulation of the Swedish identity, but the postmodern art also creates, through exposure in exhibitions all around the world, new constructions of Swedishness.

Gradén, Mattias January 2011 (has links)
This thesis examines prerequisites for wind power diffusion in a county in Sweden that quite recently was concidered to be of interest for electricty production from renewable energy sources. Three different municipalities: Falun, Mora and Orsa in the county of Dalarna are highlighted. Their view on permitting processes of wind power installations are investigated. Other actors, such as exploiters and local citizens are also being analysed. This study shows that the local acceptance was very high when the first wind power parks were built, much thanks to local politicians and local citizens. For the politicians the wind power symbolised a key to a better green society, for the local citizens the wind power meant some economical advantages. The first wind power parks were localised to areas because of good wind conditions and social factors, especially from local communities. However, results from this study shows that the acceptance for wind power the last few years, in generel, has decreased. The local authorities have also been conscious of some negative consequenses from already built wind power parks. As a response they started to add planning tools to the permitting process.

Effect on district heating systems in Dalarna County from energy efficiency measures in buildings - a scenario study to 2050

Larsson, Josefine January 2012 (has links)
Energi Intelligent is a program in Dalarna County with the purpose of finding ways of enhancing the efficiency of energy use and thereby be able to reach a more sustainable use of energy resources[1]. The basis of this program is the energy goal that has been prepared for Dalarna County published in Dalarnas miljömål[2]. The energy goal is divided into a number of intermediate goals, the sixth, Delmål 6, is to reduce energy consumption in buildings with 50 percent until 2050, and with 30 percent until 2025[3]. There are often a large number of different sectors involved that have got differing opinions and intentions. This makes the task far more complex than simply reducing energy consumption, because energy efficiency is one goal and that would mean that power companies would not be able to continue increasing their profit. The aim of this project was to analyze the effects on energy production when reducing the use of heat demand in buildings until 2050. The district heating systems constitutes the main part of heating of buildings in the county and that is why it has been analyzed in this project. The simulation tool that was suggested in the declaration of the thesis work was LEAP, the Long range energy alternative planning system tool for simulating different scenarios over years from the base year of the model. The idea was to build energy models of Falun district heating system and Borlänge district heating system in LEAP. Scenarios were defined for the energy goals and then simulated in a model of district heating system. Simulation of the district heating systems were made from the scenarios; reducing the district heating production with 30 percent until 2025 and 50 percent until 2050. The results from the analysis showed that for Falun district heating system the reduction of district heat demand will lead to decreased heat and electricity production and there will be no need for further investment. In Borlänge district heating system capacity is lower than the total capacity of all the available waste resources and there have been discussions about investing in a third municipal waste incineration boiler that would increase the total capacity so Borlänge district heating system could have waste incineration that covers the resources of the fuel cost favorable municipal and industrial waste.

Nyskapande resetidningsdesign

Edlund, Carola, Häggström, Björn January 2005 (has links)

Ågren, Simon January 2003 (has links)
The report describes the production of graphic correspondence and marketing material for DUCIS(Dalarna University Centre for Irish Studies).A logotype symbol is created on the basis of an element from the Celtic art, and a graphic material thatharmonies with this ideal of style is built around the symbol. A unique visiting card, correspondence cardand letterhead is produced to strengthen the identity of DUCIS outwards. The work proceeds with an international education folder which is an important element in the marketingwork for the MA-education which starts in the autumn of 2003. Two posters, one for the opening ofDUCIS in may 2003 and one for a conference in 2004, are produced. Finally, a redesign of the book coverfor NIS, Nordic Irish Studies, is carried out.The report describes the working process consisting of meetings, practical work and other elementswithin the process. The conclusion is that the work has been quite successful and that this, to a largeextent, depended on an engaged and supporting commissioner. The commissioner also is very satisfi edwith the results. The in-depth studies of the project is about the art and design of the Celtic culture throughout history. The text gives an account for the history and expressions of Celtic art from its birth, 2800 years ago, untilits death in 13th century Ireland and Scotland. Special attention is payed to the golden age of ChristianCeltic art on the british islands, the era from which the pattern of the DUCIS logotype originates.
