Stövling, Gustaf January 2020 (has links)
This thesis aims to describe the pre-existing structures and procedures of crisis management andpreparedness in the fifteen municipalities in the Swedish region of Dalarna. Although national andregional governments are involved in several aspects of planning and response to various types ofemergencies, primary responsibility for day-to-day crisis management is delegated to localgovernment. Drawing from this, the paper will explore the daily responsibilities of relevant officialsfrom each municipality in Dalarna through interviews and gather first-hand knowledge regardingwhat lessons that has been learned from handling the COVID-19 pandemic.Furthermore, the information will be used to examine eventual differences in capabilities tohandle emergencies between the different municipalities. The impact and consequences of variousemergencies and disasters demands high-quality emergency measures. However, in the relativelystable time we live in today, these measures are rarely activated. Hence it is difficult to assess thequality of these efforts before the actual crisis hits. This often leads to other functions ofgovernment taking priority, resulting in neglected emergency measures. The main findings of thisstudy indicate that there are some differences, however, the overall experience from the interviewedofficials is positive regarding the performance of their emergency measures and hopeful for thefuture.

Ringlavens (Evernia divaricata) population i Dalarna 2020 / Growth rate of Evernia divaricata in Dalarna 2020

Erikers, Katarina January 2022 (has links)
Forests are a key ecosystem to protect biodiversity in Sweden. One important aspect is to protect endangered species and their habitat. Evernia divaricata is an endangered lichen that is sensitive to habitat loss and changing environmental conditions. As consequenceEvernia divaricata is an excellent indicator to observe ecosystem change or habitat disturbance. In the summer 2020 ten different sites were investigated in Dalarna, wherelichens also been investigated two times earlier (year 2006 and 2012) at the same sites. For some of the investigated sites, deforesting was recorded nearby, whereas other sites exhibited favorable conditions without impact because of nearby mires. The Wilcoxon testwas used to examine if there was any statistical difference between the three different inventories, both in terms of number and size of lichens. The study showed that there has been a statistically significant decrease between the three lichen inventories. There was both a decrease over time, but also a decrease within most individual sites. Additional sites should be included, and future inventories will show whether the decline is temporary or if the population keeps decreasing.

Gravar i Fångstmarken : En osteologisk analys av 10 gravar från Vindförbergs udde i norra Dalarna / Burials in the wilderness : Grave investigations i northen Dalarna

Johansson, Hanna January 2016 (has links)
This essay include the osteological analysis of ten cremation burials from the burial ground of Vindförberg in Ore parish, Dalarna. The burial ground on Vindförberg was used between the years 100 and 550 AD. during the Iron age. Vindförberg is a hunting burial ground which is one of two burial practices that existed during this age in Dalarna. The hunting ground graves are located far from settlements and their origin is under debate. Theories about these graves say that they are either settlers from the south or hunting-gatherer groups from the north and west. The questions this essay is if it is possible to see the structure of the community the people behind the burial ground at Vindförberg had. This will be achieved with the help of age and sex determinations to study the relationship between the different graves at Vindförberg. In excess of previous question, it was also of interest to compare the result from Vindförberg with four other contemporary burial grounds to inquire similarities and differences. Of the 43 graves on the burial ground, ten were analyzed in this essay. A total weight and volume of nine kilograms and twelve liters was analyzed. Human, dog, bear, elk, beaver, and fish were the identified species from Vindförberg. Because of the very fragmented material, the determinations of age and sex proved difficult to estimate. This led to the discussion being more about the ancient people’s conception of the world and rituals as well to social structure.

Psykosocial arbetsmiljö : En studie om avdelningschefer på Högskolan Dalarna / Psychosocial work environment for middle managers at Dalarnas University

Sundell, Hans, Edoff, Tom January 2017 (has links)
The psychosocial work environment is something that affects all of us in our daily working life. Our study will seek to look at the psychosocial work environment for departments heads at Dalarna University. The studies method is a combination of both questionnaire survey of the psychosocial work environment sent to all department heads and semi-structured interviews with five of the department heads. The collected data will be tested against both KASAM theory and gender perspective theory. The study shows that according to our research the psychosocial work environment is in general good at Dalarna university. The study also shows a difference between the genders in how they experience their psychosocial work environment. Women are happier in their work environment than men. Women find that they receive more help from their colleges and department heads than men do. The research points to a few number of areas where improvements are needed to make the psychosocial work environment better at Dalarna University.

Vägledningar om skogsvårdslagens krav : Hur de efterlevs samt ombudens åsikter om dessa / Guidelines on the requirements of the Forest Conservation Act : How they are complied with and the attorneys´ views on them

Kusén, Camilla, Wallin, Maria January 2020 (has links)
The purpose of the study has been to investigate how well guidelines are observed in practice and also to see how the agents experience these and what they see for deficiencies and opportunities for improvement. This study is based on two studies. 34 items where guidance for rejuvenation harvesting took place were checked in the field. 104 representatives were asked to answer a questionnaire in which the questions focused on problems related to nature considerations and opportunities for improvement regarding the guidelines. The results show that the guidelines have been followed to a great extent and that the agents feel that they have benefited from the guidelines. The deficiencies in the guidelines were perceived to be too long and compact texts and that considerations described in the text were not highlighted in the map. Failure to observe the objects may, in the agents 'opinion, be partly due to the forest owners' opinions differing from the suggestions in the guidelines.

Insjögravfältens folk : En osteologiskanalys av benmaterial från Vindförbergs gravfält / The people of the inland lake burial grounds : An osteological analysis of bone material from the Vindförberg burial ground

Rann Åkerlund, Elin January 2023 (has links)
Vindförberg's burial ground is located in Ore parish, Dalarna, and is classified by many as a inland lake burial ground. These have been active during the Iron Age to the early Middle Ages, and many questions still remain about the culture(s) that established them. This paper examines the deposits of horn material found at the Vindförberg burial ground. The aim is to investigate their function and significance, differences between graves with and without deposits, and differences and similarities between Vindförberg and Krankmårtenhögen. The essay applies osteological methods, supplemented with archaeological methods, as well as comparative methods. The comparative method has been applied to Krankmårtenhögen, in order to put the other results in a larger context. The study has been able to establish that the horns were deliberately placed on the graves as status symbols or for unknown ritualistic reasons. The study has also been able to establish that there are some significant differences between graves with and without deposits of horns, mainly regarding the age at which the buried individuals died. Furthermore, the study has been able to establish strong similarities between Vindförberg's and Krankmårtenhögen's respective burial grounds, which proves a cultural connection, despite some differences in the amount of deposited material.

Storskalig vindkraft i skogen : Om rationell planering och lokalt motstånd

Gradén, Mattias January 2016 (has links)
The global climate threat has intensified Sweden’s ambitions to build wind power stations. This thesis explores the planning of, and opposition to, wind power in the inland rural and forest regions of Sweden. It is in these autonomous communities that the plans are implemented and the aim of the thesis was to, from a local perspective, understand and analyse the planning and acceptance challenges that large-scale wind power development faces in places that are both sparsely populated and have good wind conditions. This thesis is based on qualitative methods and was conducted as two studies. The case study area comprises four municipalities in Dalarna County. The first study analyses the planning and establishment process in three municipalities using interviews and an analysis method called process tracing. The second study analyses one wind power establishment, in which the interviews form the basis for a discourse analytical approach. One striking finding highlights the relationship between the global and the local. Global environment and energy aspects are absent in the local process, and wind power becomes a technical land issue that clashes with other local land interests. Another finding of the study reveals that planning for wind power establishment follows a rational planning tradition. The feelings and memories of the individual – different views regarding the landscape – play a background role in the formal permit process, while measurable observable conditions have a more prominent role. Wind power developers thereby acquire a more significant position than what they probably would have had if the planning had included local residents’ views on wind power in the landscape at an early stage.

Halvardsson, Jenny January 2018 (has links)
Background: Primary health care has an important preventative and curative role, where many of the population's health needs can be met. An accessible and well-functioning primary health care can reduce health inequities in the population. Objective: The purpose of the study was to investigate accessibility for medical consultations in primary health care centres in Dalarna County Council. The study explored accessibility during a period of time when changes were made in primary health care due to financial difficulties in the county council. Methods: The study had a non-experimental, quantitative design that examined geographic equality based on accessibility to medical consultations, and relationships between socioeconomic composition and accessibility of medical consultations over a five-year period. Statistical analysis with independent t-test, Mann-Whitney U-test and Kruskal-Wallis test examined geographic equality from several aspects (p<,05). Associations between socioeconomic composition and accessibility of medical consultations was investigated using Spearman's rank correlation coefficient. Results: Accessibility to medical consultations in Dalarna County Council varied within and between primary health care centres. During the five-year period, Dalarna County Council generally had lower accessibility than the national average and a comparative county council. The result showed significant differences (p<,05) regarding accessibility at the municipal level, but no geographic pattern for accessibility was found. This study did not find correlations between socioeconomic composition and accessibility to medical consultations, which may be because CNI compensates for socioeconomic differences. Conclusion: This study found variations regarding accessibility to medical consultations within Dalarna County Council. In order to achieve a more accessible and equal primary health care for all residents in Dalarna, regional differences should be reduced and accessibility to medical consultations should be improved in general.

Dalaprojektet 1956-1958 : Greta Renborgs bokpropaganda i bibliotekshistorisk belysning / The Dalarna Project 1956–1958 : Greta Renborg’s Book Propaganda in View of Swedish Library History

Westberg, Örjan January 2018 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to compile and analyze librarian Greta Renborg’s book propaganda in the Dalarna region of Sweden 1956–1958. The overall theoretical perspective is contextual, focusing on the concepts structure and actor. The actor perspective is further developed by an analysis of Renborg’s book propaganda through library researcher Jofrid Karner Smidt’s mediation roles: Critic and literature expert, Social anthropologist, Pedagogue, Marketer and Ordinary person. Source material includes archive documents, journal articles, newspaper articles and literature. Renborg’s own writing holds a special position in the material. The thesis’ results show that the conditions for carrying out book propaganda in Dalarna were good. Sweden was going through a rapid change in the 1950’s and the state library institution was expanding and willing to experiment. The civic society in Dalarna was strong. The region’s central librarian Tora Olsoni was a driving force behind the hiring of a book consultant. Greta Renborg had contacts high up in the library institution and was a well-known name among Swedish librarians. Source material indicate that she could plan and conduct the Dalarna project basically by her own, only supervised by her employer Dalarnas biblioteksförbund. Greta Renborg built up a large network of contacts and focused her propaganda on non-reading groups ac- cording to a state investigation in 1952, especially farmers, foresters and housewives. The source material shows that her book propaganda has features of all Jofrid Karner Smidt’s mediation roles. The medial reception was overwhelmingly positive and often focused on Renborg’s enthusiastic approach. Any statistical effects of the Dalarna Project have not been proven. This thesis shows that the Dalarna Project to a large extent depended on Greta Renborg as a person. This is the thesis’ most important result. This is a two years master’s thesis in Library and Information Science.
