Automated Network Node Discovery and Topology Analysis

Sigholm, Johan January 2007 (has links)

This Master's Thesis describes the design and development of an architecture for automated network node discovery and topology analysis, implemented as an extension to the network management and provisioning system NETadmin. The architecture includes functionality for flexible network model assessment, using a method for versatile comparison between off-line database models and real-world models. These models are populated by current node data collected by network sensors.

The presented architecture supports (1) efficient creation and synchronization of network topology information (2) accurate recognition of new, replaced and upgraded nodes, including rogue nodes that may exhibit malicious behavior, and (3) provides an extension of an existing vendor-neutral enterprise network management and provisioning system.

An evaluation of the implementation shows evidence of accurate discovery and classification of unmatched hosts in a live customer production network with over 400 nodes, and presents data on performance and scalability levels.

The work was carried out at Netadmin System i Sverige AB, in Linköping, Sweden.

Utveckling av styrning till solföljande MaReCo-hybrid i Hammarby Sjöstad / Developing a controller for a sun tracking MaReCo hybride in Hammarby Sjöstad

Svensson, Mikael January 2002 (has links)

Turning solar collectors, heliostats, is certainly not a new idea but has been explored for at least two decades. Projects on this subject have resulted in more or less realistic constructions, in a commercial point of view. Far too often the technical goals have had higher priority than the economical, which has resulted in a few constructions having the ability to compete with conventional, fix solar collectors. The economical issues have been given high priority in this project, without decreasing the demands on reliability. The system has been given the following mechanical and electronical properties: One-axis movement, fix heat carrying fluid system, microcomputer controlled movement and automatic protection from overheating. According to the development in digital technology with lower prices on advanced semiconductors as a consequence, the conclusion is that the prerequisites of this concept will be even better in the future. The result of this thesis is a heliostat function that increases the energy gain by up to 40%, compared to a field of MaReCo collectors without this function. Though, the cost only increases by 13%.

Creating a test system for a new era of radios

Toresson, Albin January 2008 (has links)

As communication becomes more and more vital in defending a country’s borders, better radios are needed. When the Swedish armed forces saw that their existing radios took too much bandwidth in their net, they knew that something had to be done.

The existing radio, called Ra 180 RAP, was modified so that it could send X.25 messages into a network. This significantly reduced the use of bandwidth, as a packet switched network only uses the bandwidth when sending info.

This final thesis has been aimed to create a system that can test the X.25 function in the upgraded, so called CI-RAP, radio. This system will come in handy both when upgrading and later when performing service on the radios.

Evaluation of Image Warping Algorithms for Implementation in FPGA

Serguienko, Anton January 2008 (has links)

The target of this master thesis is to evaluate the Image Warping technique and propose a possible design for an implementation in FPGA. The Image Warping is widely used in the image processing for image correction and rectification. A DSP is a usual choice for implantation of the image processing algorithms, but to decrease a cost of the target system it was proposed to use an FPGA for implementation.

In this work a different Image Warping methods was evaluated in terms of performance, produced image quality, complexity and design size. Also, considering that it is not only Image Warping algorithm which will be implemented on the target system, it was important to estimate a possible memory bandwidth used by the proposed design. The evaluation was done by implemented a C-model of the proposed design with a finite datapath to simulate hardware implementation as close as possible.

Cryptographic Key Masking During Run-Time

Andersson, Marcus January 2008 (has links)

Many of the products commercially available today contain some form of encrypted or hashed data. It can involve DRM protection, licenses and certificates, signatures or identification information. Regardless of what the data is intended for, it is protected for a reason and may be worth a great deal of money to the owner.

There are numerous examples of products that have been subject to hacking in the form of simple memory attacks. If the keys are made all too easily extracted, the value of the protected data will soon be lost.

The aim of the thesis work discussed in this report was to evaluate the vulnerabilities in mobile phones to this sort of attacks and to find possible security enhancements that can be applied. A method is proposed where masking will secure the cryptology keys while they reside in the memory.

Different masks are developed and tested - The effects on performance are measured and the security is evaluated.

The thesis work concludes that it is possible to implement masking on many of the security functions using keys and that the masks will increase security. The conclusion also states that the time consumption of the masking heavily depends on which mask that is used and that the masking could be applied in such a way that the level of masking can be varied.

Arm-P : Almost Reliable Multicast protocol

Jonsson, Fredrik January 2008 (has links)

Distribution of information across IP based networks is today part of our everyday life. IP is the backbone of the Internet and most office networks. We use IP to access web pages, listen to radio, and to create computation clusters. All these examples use bandwidth, and bandwidth is a limited resource.

Many applications distribute the same information to multiple receivers, but in many cases the same information is sent to a single receiver at a time, thus multiple copies of the same information is sent, thus consuming bandwidth.

What if the information could be broadcasted to all the clients at the same time, similar to a television broadcast. TCP/IP provides some means to do that. For example UDP supports broadcasting; the problem faced when using UDP is that it’s not reliable. There is no guarantee that the information actually reaches the clients.

This Bachelor thesis in Computer Science aims to investigate the problems and solutions of how to achieve reliable distribution of fixed size data sets using a non reliable multicast communication channel, like UDP, in a LAN environment.

The thesis defines a protocol (Almost Reliable Multicast Protocol – Arm-P) that provides maximum scalability for delivery of versioned data sets that are designed to work in a LAN-environment. A proof-of-concept application is implemented for testing purposes.

Implementering av EtherCAT i robotsystem Motoman NX100

Arlefur, Kristoffer January 2008 (has links)

/
With a fast growing production industry in Asia it’s getting harder and harder for Swedish companies to compete with the low production cost that the east offers. To be more competitive robot solutions are used more and more. This is a report of a first concept to implement a new Ethernet based communication called EtherCAT, in one of Motoman robot controllers. Test equipment has been constructed and simulated a communication with the PLC. A first HMI interface has been written to show the information from the PLC in a way that is understandable for humans. For one of Motoman’s robots a program has been prepared.

Vibrationsbaserad maskinaktivitetssensor / Vibration based machine activity sensor

Bergquist, Albert January 2006 (has links)

/
In this project we examine the possibility to create a machine activity sensor by

a one-chip computer that measures a machines vibrations through an

accelerometer. The sensor shall generate a status signal. The accelerometer is

used to give a measurable signal of a machines vibrations. The one-chip

computer is used to sampel, transform and analyze this signal and generate a

status signal. With LabView we can save, study and analyze different signals

and their different transforms. By studying machine vibrations in LabView we

decide that sampling at 5 kHz is sufficient. By comparing different

transformations in regards to performance and calculation needs we choose

Fast Fourier Transform as analyzing tool. We calculate that a ARM

SAM7S256 can manage the task and implement an interrupt based sampling,

frequency analysis and decision making routine which results in a status signal.
