Jairzinho Rabelo 28 September 2012 (has links)
The objective of this paper is to analyze the construction of meanings of the Reading Mediators from the Vaga Lume Expedition in the Indigene Community Boca da Mata through their discursive practices. It searched comprehend how the RM built their meanings through their enunciative positions and, consequentially, the building of the identity. Besides, recognized identity elements of the culture characterized and specifics of the indigene people the research of qualitative nature was possible through the artisanal books produced for the research subjects and semi- structured interviews. The problematic of the research that BASED the data analysis were: a) How were the meanings built in the discursive practice of the participant subjects of the VLE in the Community of Boca da Mata? b) Are there any cultural elements characterized and specifics of the indigene people in the discursive practice of the participant VLE in the Indigene Community Boca da Mata? Which characteristics must contain a politic reading that contemplate the linguistics and discursive reality of the indigene community? It was used as theoretical base the knowledges of discourse analyses. (PECHÊUX, 1997 e 2000; ORLANDI, 1990, 1996, 2000, 2002 e 2009; FOUCAULT, 2002;SERRANI, 2005). The analysis confirmed the indigene cosmovision surrounded for a plurality of non indigene voices. In the daily of their lives shared in the same sociocultural space, the long sociability in the same space the community of Boca da Mata - ,including intereticals weddings, it gives a high level of hybridism that in many aspects put them together in terms of world reading. In this direction, the construction of an identity and a hybrid culture, that through the collective memory search for the celebration of history and past. The way as they see themselves as indigene and as non indigene is possible to identify in their discourses. This identification is seen as a resistance and affirmation of their identities. There is a knot in the reading activities that unite school and community and contribute in the fomentation to the visualization of cultural aspects of the indigene people. With that, it propounds axles to reading activities that contemplates the linguistic and discursive reality of indigene communities, under an interculturalist and discursive perspective.

Källén, Malin, Andersson, Cecilia January 2012 (has links)

Rönnbäck, Calle, Johansson, Niklas January 2011 (has links)

Discourse practices of mathematics teacher educators in initial teacher training colleges in Malawi.

Chitera, Nancy 01 March 2010 (has links)
This is a qualitative research that draws on Fairclough’s Critical Discourse Analysis methodology to analyze the discourse practices of the mathematics teacher educators in initial teacher training colleges in Malawi. The study involved four mathematics teacher educators in two teacher training colleges located in two different regions of Malawi. Specifically the study explored the following questions: 1) What are the discourse practices that mathematics teacher educators display in their descriptions of multilingual mathematics classrooms? 2) a) What are the discourse practices that mathematics teacher educators display in a college mathematics classroom? b) How do they make available the discourse practices for the student teachers to draw on? Data was collected through pre-observation interviews, classroom observations, reflective interviews and focus group discussions with the mathematics teacher educators. This study has shown that while there are some disconnections between the discourse practices produced in a school multilingual mathematics classroom and a college mathematics classroom, some of the discourse practices that mathematics teachers produced in a college mathematics classroom reinforces the common discourse practices being produced in multilingual mathematics classroom. There are three common discourse practices that were displayed in a college mathematics classroom. These discourse practices are: Initial-Response-Evaluation (Pimm, 1987), traditional lecturing and group discussions. I observed that the IRE and traditional lecturing discourse practices were accompanied by directive discourses for procedural control, and the procedural discourse was the prevalent discourse in all the discourse practices produced. iv Three major themes have emerged from the data analysis. Firstly, the research findings indicate that the mathematics teacher educators regard multilingualism and the language practices that come with it such as code-switching more as a problem rather than a resource for teaching and learning. Secondly, code-switching in college mathematics classroom is not as spontaneous as is research shows it to be in schools; rather it is very much controlled and restricted. Thirdly, the dilemmas of code-switching as discussed by Adler (1998, 2001) are more acute in teacher training colleges, mainly because of the mismatch in the Language-in-Education Policy (LiEP) in schools and tertiary level.

The central objective was to describe and interpret the theme on the masculine subjectivity in discourses about the affection of sexuality materialized in discourse practices in those magazines. The main point of the research matters how the discourse structures of texts in those magazines make it possible to comprehend the meanings produced about the masculinity nowadays. On the perspective of the thematic trajectory what consists the main aspect that concerns the leading of corpus in the research under the French discourse analysis, we have searched, in reports of those magazines, an arch-genealogy of masculinity, from a specific sexual-affection disposable of our mediate culture. The analytic trajectory enables us to conclude that the thematic trajectory about the sexual affection of the masculine subjectivity produces a semantic way that confirms hegemony and hetero-normative ideals, rather than what proposes new performances on the masculine subjectivity experiences. In its real effects, such mediate discourse practice pursues to link certain sexual affection knowledge to the male individual‟s lifestyle today, from the thematic choices, enunciation modalities and discourse strategies which are specific to the masculine media / Esta disserta??o tem como objeto de an?lise a tematiza??o da subjetividade masculina afetiva sexual em textos das revistas Universo Masculino e Men‟s Health.

Connor Jutterstedt, Emelie January 2017 (has links)
Humour has for a long time been regarded as something unproblematic that in general shouldn’t be taken seriously, and humour research has mainly focused its positive functions and effects. However, humour is indeed a social and discursive practise that, just like others, have social implications. The aim of this essay is, informed by an intersectional perspective, to problematize and critically examine stand-up comedy as discursive practise and to make visible how humour build upon dominating discourses in society. The aim is also to examine the self-contradictory dimension of the jokes. In a critical discourse analysis of Özz Nûjen’s show Dålig stämning (2013), using PC (political correctness) as an overall analytical framework, the analytical categories ‘women’ as well as ‘ethnicity and culture’ are focused. My conclusion is that in all cases of Nûjen’s prerogative of interpretation, ‘stupidity’, as the lowest common denominator, sticks to symbols, bodies and phenomenon that are associated with something deviant or negative. By what is not expressed, a white, normative Swedish PC-identity is constructed as the abstract, preferable subject. Nûjen’s stand-up comedy, i.a. in expressions of self-contradiction, proves to mainly reinforce social norms. Consequently, negative preconceptions and biased representations of reality are cemented. Though Nûjen does contribute to sociocultural change to some extent, the elaborations of the jokes in most cases prove to sustain the social order. A renegotiation of identities is therefore made strictly limited. However, in one case, Nûjen does challenge the notion of identities as fixed and essential, when renegotiating the master status and construction of “The ethnical Other woman”.
