Consumers in that context who assumed the role of entrepreneurs, were not dissatisfied with the market, just wanted to share their ideas and acquisitions with other network users. With the passage of time, however, this action initially unassuming, achieved popularity and captured the attention of players and companies in the industry, earning scale (DIAMANDIS & KOTLER, 2015) and visibility. Therefore, this research will aim to identify and analyze the discursive strategies that led consumers who only wanted to communicate and exchange their ideas about a topic that interested them to the category of institutional entrepreneurs (ANSARI & PHILLIPS, 2011; DOLBEC & FISCHER, 2015). The question answered here was: What are the discursive strategies used by consumers who have become institutional entrepreneurs? For this was an exploratory study carried out in the form of a case study, with the blogger Camila Coutinho, from Garotas Estúpidas blog. The discursive strategies of the entrepreneur were mainly compiled through blog posts, materials published in the media and interviews analysis. Data were analyzed by speech analysis method (VAN DIJK, 1997; PHILLIPS & HARDY, 2002). This research contributesto the theory of institutional entrepreneurship in the identification and analysis of the discursive strategies used by an institutional entrepreneur. It also contributes to the management practice by identifying the changes generated by entrepreneurs in social media field.

"Catchy Climate Science": A Comparative Analysis of Rhetorical and Discursive Strategies in Online Texts Written by Scientists versus Journalists

Stüdeli, Lena Meret January 2018 (has links)
Climate science and the effective public communication of it havebecome increasingly vital in a world that is changing atan unprecedentedrate. For many scientists and journalists, the Internet hasgrown to be the preferred medium of climate science communication. As the issues thattextsabout climate changedeal with are ratherpressing, it is crucial that thescientific knowledge is recontextualized for non-expert audiencesin the mosteffectiveand engaging way. Science communicatorshave rhetorical strategiesof recontextualization and discursive strategies of newsworthinessat their disposal to achieve the desired science communicationand ultimately createan inclusive and engaging discourse with theirreaders. This qualitative study is a comparative analysis of two different typesof writers:scientists and journalists. The analysis of onlinetexts about climate change, written by these two types of writers, showsthat scientists and journalists employ many of the same strategies.Nonetheless, the findings reveal distinct differences in how extensively certain strategies are/ are not used.Generally, the scientists recontextualized the scientific knowledge in a more personalizedand inclusivemanner. The journalists, in turn, made use of more discursive strategies of newsworthiness. This qualitative comparative studyalsoprovides a novel analytical framework for further studies of the same kind.

A CONCORRÊNCIA POR LUGARES ENTRE AS MÍDIAS JORNALÍSTICAS IMPRESSAS: ESTUDO DAS ESTRATÉGIAS DE PRODUÇÃO DE SENTIDOS NO DISCURSO AUTORREFERENCIAL / THE COMPETITION FOR PLACES AMONG PRINT JOURNALISM MEDIAS: THE STRATEGIES STUDY OF MEANING PRODUCTION IN SELF-REFERENCIAL DISCOURSE

Ribeiro, Daiane Bertasso 01 March 2010 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This work is part of the current scenario of media coverage in the range of access to new information technologies and communication as well as the many media devices, affects different social systems and even the media themselves, changing ways of doing and relationship between the contacts and the degree of complexity of these processes and relationships. In this context, we recognize the places crowded by the media of print journalism Santa Maria - RS, by studying the strategies of production of meaning in self-referential discourse of newspapers A Razão and Diário de Santa Maria, in the campaign for municipal elections 2008. We seek to investigate what role that self-referential journalism of print media of Santa Maria seeks to establish through their discourses? From this, our specific objectives are: Contextualizing the impact of self-referentiality as a result of the change strategies of media devices as a result of mediatization; Present method of construction of selfreferential journalistic discourse the media, linking theoretical and empirical knowledge; Identify the core meanings/discursive formations and the scene of enunciation of self-referential discourses that will enable us to visualize the image of himself (discursive ethos) constructed by each newspaper; Recognize the communication contract proposed by the self-referential discourses of the newspapers in study. We used as theoretical and methodological Discourse Analysis of the French line, especially developed by Dominique Maingueneau (1997, 2006, 2008). Thus, the analysis of the discursive strategies of self-referentiality newspaper A Razão and Diário de Santa Maria helped us to verify that newspapers compete to fill posts of legitimate statements of facts or information to the public space in mediated society. This competition for places in the context of media coverage changes the processes and journalistic practices, and modes of enunciation of his discourses. Thus, the journalistic system becomes a space actorization of events and information that become news, showing its reality, how to stage makes the process of newsworthiness. Thus, it appears that apart from the competition between the media system is the journalistic competition to the place that speaks of legitimate society also mediated with the other social systems. Therefore, this study points to the need for future research should discuss and reflect the power relations of the journalistic system with other systems and points to the need to rethink this logic self-referential change the current system to a journalistic role agent democratic in contemporary public space.

ENCENAÇÃO JORNALÍSTICA DA VIOLÊNCIA NO FUTEBOL: ESTUDO DE ESTRATÉGIAS DISCURSIVAS, EFEITOS DE SENTIDO E VALORES / JOURNALISTIC STAGING OF FOOTBALL VIOLENCE: A STUDY OF DISCURSIVE STRATEGIES, MEANING EFFECTS AND VALUES

Casagrande, Magnos Cassiano 19 February 2014 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This study aims to analyze how the discursive construction is about the sociocultural phenomenon of violence in football for enunciators newspapers Folha de São Paulo and Zero Hora. Thereby, investigates the discursive strategies adopted to produce meaning effects, which affirm handling human and social values. To this end, presents the fundamentals of communication as a relationship and its strategic nature and discourse as a space of interaction among subjets. It is theorized also meaning effects of reality, enunciation and theming, which are used as steps that guide the analytical process. Then it develops considerations of football violence, violence in football and the latter interweaving with the media. The theoretical-methodological approach adopted for analysis of newspaper materiality is based on Discourse Analysis in Semiology of Discourse and Theory of Enunciation. Knowing the values permeating journalistic discourse and enunciators establish relations with the enunciated and what they say besides try to give concreteness to the meanings that want to share, is seeking possible answers to the place assumed by sports journalism in relation to football events with violence.

More specifically, it is discussed the importance of taking the linguistic analysis as a standard practice in Portuguese teaching Among the various linguistic aspects to be approached in the classroom, this study considers the factors that contribute to the writing of the text, focusing on the reference process. The proposed research turns therefore to the bond that is established in the texts and the possibility of creating and recreating the facts and to (re) construct meaning through the reference process, which explains how the producer of the text shows the surrounding world, filtered by symbolic (cf. KOCH, ELIAS, 2006). Because of the nature of this work, it was necessary to narrow even more the object of study. Thus, among the elements that enable the (re) construction of discursive (MONDADA, DUBOIS, 2003), we decided to investigate the anaphors, especially the associative anaphor, focusing on the relations of meronymy, metonymy as well as the synonyms. It starts from the assumption that the linguistic approach can contribute to the formation of readers and writer of authentic texts in the classroom, since it occupies an important function in the text and it is responsible to print out the directions to reveal intentions, values and positions that the writer of the text wants to express. To see how this linguistic strategy contributes to the meaning (s) was selected as a corpus of analysis the short story O defunto, by Eça de Queiros. It was considered this genre because it is worked repeatedly in reading classes and represents the language in daily uses. Besides showing socially constructed situations, the short story offers to students the opportunity to experience different cultures and expand the boundaries of their world and encyclopedic knowledge. From this selection, we attempted to assess how the selected associative anaphor show judgments established by the author and guide the interpretation of the text. Supporting this analysis the authors involved in the study of the reference among them Koch (2005a, 2005b, 2008a, 2008b), Koch and Elias (2006), Cavalcante (2005a, 2005b), Cavalcante, Rodrigues and Ciulla ( 2003), Marcuschi (2005, 2007a), Mondada and Dubois (2003) and Apothéloz-Béguelin and Reichler (1995). Also utilized the works dealing with the question of genre (Bakhtin, 1992; MARCUSCHI, 2005, 2007b; DIONÍSIO, AX and Bezerra, 2007), the short story (JOLLA, 1976; BORDINI and AGUIAR, 1993), and specifically tale Lusitanian (MOSES, 1974, 1994).

Some texts which document the discussions concerning this process will constitute the corpus of this exposition. The investigation of these discursive productions is based on Semiolinguistic Theory of Discourse Analysis, according to researchers developed by Patrick Charaudeau (2009, 2010, 2011, 2013) related to the modes of organization of the discourse, concepts of language, discourse, subject and identity. Studies of reference and designation are also used on this analysis. Furthermore, the discursive productions of silencing and resistance are examined by the assumptions postulated by Eni Orlandi (2007). The study has shown that both strategies are continuously used by both groups involved in the context of the discussion of the APA, however, the discourse of resistance are built in greater number by subject-farmer , in order to defend their traditional techniques for the use of the land

This paper presents a study of picture books covers by having a complex interweaving between the verbal and visual languages that are closely linked. It is believed that the cover is a key resource for readers pickup in which the publisher builds and invests numerous strategies to win a double recipient: the child and the adult. To this end, the assumptions of The Semiolinguistic Theory of Discourse Analysis by Patrick Charaudeau highlighting the key concepts of this theory are used: double process of semiotization the world; communications contract; discursive memories, discursive strategies; targeted discursive. It is observed that the communications contract is in a monolocation situation, that is, without the physical presence of the co-partners (publisher and reader), setting up in an exchange contract postponed. To this end, the discursive strategies of funding, credibility and legitimacy employed by the subject connecting, show the image of this subjectproducer (publisher) and the image that projects the recipient (reader) - that want to attract to purchase the book. Such strategies are closely linked to discursive targeted assume that intentionality psycho social discourse of the subject connecting. As the picture books have a double address, the publisher will be supported also in the discursive memories, these resources who want to access knowledge in both public, arousing the curiosity and linking, first, through the hood, in order to further reading book. There is also the picture book cover constitutes its own genre, to present a proposal and natural and stable elements in this communication contract

Turkish Yoke, Red Vampires, and Euro-Genderists: Strategies of de/legitimization in the debate around the Istanbul Convention in Bulgaria

Stoencheva, Jullietta January 2021 (has links)
In July 2018, Bulgaria’s Constitutional Court rejected the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence (better known as the Istanbul Convention). This rejection came following a wave of civic activism, which scholars characterized as the first anti-gender campaign in Bulgaria. Three years after the Constitutional Court’s decision, the Istanbul Convention continues to occupy online and offline public space, still provoking controversy and sparking heated debates. Employing critical discourse analysis (CDA), this thesis analyzes comments under Facebook posts mentioning the Istanbul Convention between 2017 and 2021. The posts appear on the Facebook pages of two ideologically opposing civil organizations that actively participated in the debate around the Convention’s ratification. Using Reyes’ (2011) concept of de/legitimization discourse, this paper analyses the online discussion around the Convention, exploring how de/legitimization discourses are utilized by the two ideologically opposing communities. To account for the role of Facebook as a discursive practice, the study further explores how the architectures and affordances of Facebook as a platform contribute to the polarization of the IC discussion. The analysis reveals the instrumentality of de/legitimization discourses for constructing pro- and anti-IC activist groups, for redefining the meaning of ‘gender’ in Bulgarian society, and later for transforming the meaning of the phrase ‘the Istanbul Convention’ to outgrow a reference to one document and become a signifier of values. Additionally, the study highlights three types of Facebook affordances that were found to affect the discussion’s polarization: identity, social, and functional.

Hidalgo Delgado , Diana Carolina 03 November 2017 (has links)
The present investigation analyzes the news coverage of the social conflict that arose around the Conga mining project in Cajamarca during the years of 2011 and 2012. In order to achieve this, we have selected three of the main written national news sources that covered the event: Correo, El Comercio, and La República. Henceforth. The main objective of this investigation is to analyze the treatment of the information during the coverage of the socio-environmental conflict that was triggered by the extractive activity of the Yanacocha mining company, as well as describe and analyze the discursive strategies that these dailies used in order to construct an image of the actors involved. The methodology used in this work consisted in the critical analysis of the news belonging to the informative field (covers, notes, reports, interviews and write-ups) that these diaries created between the twentieth of October and the thirtieth of November in 2011. Period during which the conflict was at its peak in terms of the coverage and the tension around it. The hypothesis for this work springs from the idea that every news enunciator configures senses and meaning about the events that it covers. Therefore, it is also responsible for the social legitimation of it as well as that of the actors involved, such was the case of Conga. Our objective is to demonstrate how each of these diaries creates and configure a sense of identity and belonging to an “us”, as well as feelings of rejection and exclusion towards those that is determines as “them” during their respective coverage of this event. / Tesis

Exploring rock climbing discourses

Potgieter, Stephan Andries 30 September 2008 (has links)
Climbing has been part of human nature since time immemorial, our ancestors used it to escape predators, to flee from flooding valleys, to gather food and to move to new territories. However it was not until the middle 1700’s that man started to use climbing not as a means to ensure survival, but as a source of pleasure and desire to climb and explore. For almost two centuries climbing has evolved through, what has often been referred to as a trial and error method, into a state of the art, modern day sport with various sub disciplines like sport climbing, trad - climbing, ice climbing, free climbing and bouldering. In its purest form it is one of the most awe inspiring sports to watch and take part in, and for those select few that dedicate their lives to it, it is a means to make a living, and a way to live on into eternity. Over the past 15 years climbing has become a widely practised and one of the fastest growing sports around the world, and is practised by people from all walks of life, from pre-primary school children right through to retired pensioners, from unemployed students to the most successful business men and women. With this growing interest among the population there also came a growing interest in the use of climbing for various other purposes like psycho-therapy, rehabilitation, team building. But more importantly, for this study, it has urged the researcher to ask what are the discursive resources and strategies that are employed by modern day climbers, seeing as the climbing community consists of such a large variety of people. This study was done from a Discursive Psychology perspective, and was strongly influenced by the work of Jonathan Potter and Derek Edwards, as well as the work of the Rhetoric Group from Loughborough University. The Discursive Psychology approach focuses on management and accomplishment of action and interaction through talk. Discourse is viewed as a resource that functions to accomplish action and Discursive Analysis focuses on the manner that discursive resources are being employed to achieve certain actions in interaction. For Discursive Psychology it is important to view both the material context and embodiment as important in the construction of action. So too in Rock Climbing are these two aspects very important and very relevant because of the prominence of physical activity in the sport. The research focused on how climbers talk during climbing and what discursive resources and strategies they employ during rock climbing discourses. The most prominent of these resources and strategies that were found in the analysis were laughter, pauses and delays, intensifiers ( words that are used to emphasize and pinpoint other words), loud uttering of words, change-of-state tokens, disclaimers, discourse markers, extreme case formulations, agreement-implicative acknowledgement tokens, hedge words / devices, speech-overlapping, previous experiences, and footing. This research hopes to offer alternative explanations in sport and psychology, by studying naturally occurring conversations between climbers, instead of the more traditional pre – and – post experience testing that has dominated studies in psychology for so long. / Dissertation (MA)--University of Pretoria, 2006. / Psychology / unrestricted
