New Dynamic Approach of a Safety Barrier Wall for a Civil Transport Aircraft

Merz, Ludger 09 December 2010 (has links) (PDF)
One of the challenges for Airbus preparing a new freighter development process was the design of a solid freighter barrier, which separates the courier area from the cargo compartment. The major task of such a barrier is to protect the passengers against all risks caused due to cargo impact by a justifiable design. These risks may result from all kind of survivable incident and accident scenarios. Real aircraft crashes were analyzed to get away from a static book-case and come to a more realistic dynamic crash scenario. A reduced-order simulation model was built up to investigate and simulate the dynamic effects during crash. The simulation model considers the highly nonlinear stiffness and damping characteristics of all critical cargo types and also includes their energy absorption potentials. A series of full scale container crash tests have been performed at accredited car crash facilities. The test campaigns were complemented by numerous component tests to study also general crash principles. The critical simulation parameters were identified and implemented into the simulation model. The subsequent validation process showed a close agreement between simulation and test. The simulation environment has turned out to be a reliable basis to simulate all critical barrier loads with respect to the specific aircraft loading distributions. The essence of this investigation is an adequate understanding of the real crash effects. The proposed dynamic crash approach is more realistic than the static condition and results in an optimized safety barrier wall concept. This dynamic approach provides equivalent safety compared to the existing devices and is accepted by FAA and EASA.

Approche dynamique de l'utilisation d'un cheval mécanique au service de la rééducation posturale de patients cérébrolésés / Dynamic approach of the use of a mechanical horse at the service of the postural rehabilitation of brain-damaged patients

Baillet, Héloïse 05 October 2018 (has links)
Rooted in the dynamical system approach of motor control, the aim of this thesis is to analyze the motor coordination of healthy and brain-damaged participants oscillating on a new rehabilitation tool: the mechanical horse. The analysis of spontaneous coordination exhibited by individuals on this horse and the learned coordination adopted after a learning phase provided by the addition of a visual biofeedback allowed (i) to determine the usefulness of biofeedback in learning an oscillating task and (ii) to evaluate the interest of a 24 sessions rehabilitation protocol performed using the mechanical horse. The final goal is to participate to the development of a postural rehabilitation protocol for a population of brain-damaged patients. The first study allowed to highlight the role of expertise in the dynamics of the postural coordination on the mechanical horse bringing the expert riders towards a more adapted postural coordination (i.e. maintaining in phase and antiphase patterns). Through this first analysis, the spontaneous trunk/horse coordination was highlighted as antiphase, corresponding to the coordination found in real equestrian activity. Furthermore, the implementation of a learning method (study 2) allowed to modify the postural behavior of novice riders after only 3 sessions. The oscillation frequency had a significant impact on the coordination of participants who fell in an antiphase coordination (strong attractor) when the environmental constraint was high. However concerning those novice but healthy participants, this experiment did not demonstrate the real value of an additional video feedback during learning of a new postural coordination. Finally, the third study performed in brain-damaged patients showed the interest of this new rehabilitation method on the postural coordination of these patients. After 24 sessions, their coordination was different from the one of the control group, allowing to highlight their ability to adapt of constraints and to develop specific modes of postural coordination (trunk/horse antiphase) in order to optimize their posture.

Comportements reproductifs en République du Congo : permanences et changements : pour une approche contextuelle et dynamique de la fécondité / Reproduction behaviors : permanencies and changes : for a contextual and dynamic approach of the fertility

Libali, Benoît 18 December 2015 (has links)
Current levels of African fertility are, for most observers, the expression of a continuation of traditional values of ancestral essence. For those observers, the traditional values continue to determine reproductive behavior, despite the economic, political and social changes. Based on the case of the Republic of Congo, dynamic and contextual analysis of these behaviors, reveal that these are rather clear break from the current level of fertility; they suggest significant unmet need for birth control. It is possible that a Malthusian reflex develops gradually, which does not exclude the need for children, contrary to some theories. These behaviors are characterized by profound changes resulting in a disconnection between sexuality, marriage and reproduction; rejuvenation of the ages at first intercourse and first birth; postponing the age of entry into marital union and the decline of polygamy. Current reproductive behavior are likely to make fertility declining, if they were well supported institutionally in the current context. The growing importance of adolescent fertility calls for redefining the foundations of African fertility. In a context marked also by significant disruptions in the mechanisms of transmission of traditional values, enhanced by education and urbanization, it is desirable to restructure the communication on the choice of fertility control. Otherwise, the fertility transition, which is irreversible, will be at its own pace, not just at the mercy of crises, but in a sustainable way by adaptation to the conditions of life and way of production in process.

Effects of load modelling on Voltage Impasse Regions (VIR)

Angeles Antolin Linan, Maria January 2019 (has links)
Voltage Impasse Region (VIR) is a phenomenon in power systemswhose dynamics are describe by a set of Differential AlgebraicEquations (DAE). VIR denotes a state-space area where voltagecausality is lost, i.e. the Jacobian of the algebraic part of DAEis singular. In a Time Domain Simulation (TDS) once system trajectoriesenter VIR, TDS experiences non-convergence of the solution. Then, there is no reason to continue with the simulation. Thisis why it is important to understand the mechanisms that introduceVIR. It is known that VIR appears in relation to static, non-linearload models. However, it remained unknown what the cumulativeeffect of several static, non-linear loads would be.This master thesis has further expanded the concept of VIRby carrying out a structured study on how the load modelling affectsVIR. For this purpose, this thesis proposes a quasi-dynamicmethodology to map VIR in the relative rotor angle space. Themethodology introduces a new discrete index called Voltage ImpasseRegion Flag (VIRflag), which allows to determine if the algebraicequations of DAE are solvable or not and, thus, to locate VIR.A test system is used to test the proposed quasi-dynamic approach. The VIRflag was first used to map VIR for various load combinations. Then, the relationship between TDS non-convergence issuesand the intersection of a trajectory with VIR is examined toverify the proposed methodology. The proposed method has been proved to be efficient in the determinationof VIR regardless of the number of non-linear loads inthe power system. Among the static exponential load models, theConstant Power (CP) load component has been identified as theone with the largest influence on VIR appearance and shape. TheConstant Current (CC) loads induce ”smaller" VIR areas and theConstant Impedance (CI) load can only alter the shape of VIR inthe presence of non-linear load models.
