Leitura e análise do gênero reportagem para as aulas de leitura no ensino médio

Liene Silva da Costa 25 April 2013 (has links)
The use of diverse themes in reading classes is a way to facilitate the contact of students with various texts that are composed inside some sort of genre. It is known that the journalistic sphere is rich in genres that happen to arise from matters relating to social life, which make use of non-verbal resource, such as photographs, images and colors to build their senses. This paper aims to focus on the print newspaper as a resource through which the school can didactically instruct general reporting in High School reading classes, using it as a means of teaching and learning and specifically, it aims to analyze on general reporting the headlines, subtitles and headings of the printed material, from newspapers of the states of Sao Paulo and Amazonas, and present them as a proposal of teaching to reading comprehension classes. The reason for the choice of this genre was due to its great circulation, the use of a verb-visual language, and its relation to the socio historical-cultural context of students. The foundational theory that guided this paper consists of Bakhtin assumptions about text genres and language; theories concerning the journalistic sphere and studies of reading and reading comprehension strategies in certain perspectives. The results showed that the work with general reporting brought more dynamism to the reading classes, attracting the attention of students and enabling the reading comprehension of even the least proficient readers, since this genre deals with issues related to contemporary society, it makes use of both verbal and non-verbal language.

(Non-)Human Contributions to Climate Change : As Represented by The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Nation

Xing Luo, Linda January 2019 (has links)
Climate change has become one of the most prominent topics in the media as a reflection of today’s political climate. But despite the multiple reports detailing consequences and causes, people still remain split on whether or not human beings contribute to climate change. The United States has some of the most notable media platforms and public perception relies heavily on how these news outlets choose to frame climate change. Therefore, this essay will investigate the extent to which The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Nation acknowledge the extent to which human beings contribute to climate change. The investigation will be conducted through the theory of the propaganda model which will be linked to two key approaches: newspaper ideology and critiques of capitalism. Based on these aspects, the research essay shows how newspaper ideology influences the way newspapers acknowledge or disregard climate change as a human contribution.

”Det är alltid fel att köpa sex. . .” : En diskursanalys av hur sexköpare framställs i svensk dags- och kvällspress / “It´s always wrong to buy sex. . .” : A discourse analysis of how sex buyers are portrayed in the Swedish daily and evening press.

Rakovic, Dijana, Andersson, Johanna January 2021 (has links)
The aim of this study is to analyze how sex buyers are portrayed discursive in Swedish daily and evening press. 25 articles have been analyzed from Dagens Nyheter, Svenska Dagbladet, Aftonbladet and Expressen during the timeframe May until June 2020. The study is based on a social constructivist perspective and treats feminist ideologies, radical feminism and liberal feminism. Through a Foucauldian discourse where the implicit, subject positioning, rules of exclusion and power have been analyzed, the studies questions have been answered. Five prominent discourses about sex buyers were found. These are “The violent man”, “The unsatisfied man”, “The famous, successful and powerful man”, “The man everyone distances themselves from” and “The remorseful man with a fear of shame”. The result is consistent with radical feminism and the Swedish sex law. The study has a relevance for professionals in social work because of the importance of being aware of the power of the language and its impact on the individual and society.

Kičmerová, Lada January 2008 (has links)
My thesis deals with free newspaper on the Czech and French market. I divided my work into three main parts. The first is a descriptive one: I present a list of free daily newspaper on both national markets with the stress on their capital cities and I give a brief characteristic of each title. I talk briefly about the company Metro International that was at the origin of the free newspaper concept and I also spend some time talking about the French press market that has many specifics in terms of journalistic traditions and market situation. In the second part of my thesis I concentrate on the publishing concept of a free newspaper. I write about advertizing, ownership and distribution channels, as well as target groups and editorial staff. Finally in the third main part of my work I discussed the content characteristics of free dailies. I used the results from my quantitative analysis as a source of information. I came to the conclusion that free newspaper use original texts as well as press agencies sources to fill their pages, that are colorful, highly structuralized and inspired by audiovisual media. In the final part of my thesis I summarize the evolution of the market with free dailies over the past few months and I discuss the possible future development. I came to the conclusion that both...

Navigation Systems' Impact on Usability in Mobile Applicatons : A Study on Mobile Newspaper Applications / Navigationsystems inverkan på användbarhet i mobilapplikationer : En studie på mobila nyhetsapplikationer

Henriksson, Emilia, Lundström, Mikaela January 2021 (has links)
Navigation is one of the least explored areas when it comes to usability in mobile interface design. Navigation can be divided into three categories; structural, associative and utility navigation. In this thesis structural and associative navigation will be further investigated in the context of mobile newspaper applications in order to find out how structural and associative navigation affects the usability of newspaper applications respectively.  Usability tests were chosen as a method to answer the research questions as it gives a clear overview of how users navigate the applications. The participants of this study were between 36 and 55 years old as this is the most common age of consuming news by online newspapers. After the usability tests the participants were interviewed to get a further insight of how they experienced the two navigation categories.  The results showed that when the users use structural navigation they can more efficiently find news articles that are of interest as long as the navigation system is logical and well thought out. Structural navigation makes it easier to narrow down the large amount of news applications to fit within a certain area of interest. Associative can feel illogical and random to use due to the lack of structural connections between information, but it can be easy to learn thanks to its similar design across applications. It can then help the users to quickly find more information about a certain topic.

The representation of women in the sensationalist peruvian press

Bustamante Morales, Marisol Yanira 16 October 2019 (has links)
The theme developed in this academic article is the representation of women in the Peruvian sensationalist newspapers, Trome and Karibeña, assuming that these media are the reflection of a masculine culture, where stereotypes of women as sexual objects are enhanced, as subordinate to men or excluded from the workplace. Newspaper digitalization - Hierarchical storage levels and long-term preservation

Huber, Kathrin, Hübsch, Gerald 14 December 2017 (has links)
Efficient digitization and long-term digital archiving of printed newspapers are building blocks that contribute towards the creation and maintenance of a collective memory for news media. Due to the large volume of digitized files per newspaper, there is a demand for their structured digitization, tool support, and integration with digital long-term archives. However, the state-of-the-art in digitization of newspapers with the open source tools like Kitodo.Production lacks support for structuring digitization processes. Such structures are necessary to make large scale projects with thousands of newspaper edition manageable and to enable a proper integration with long-term digital archives and presentation systems. Within this work, we analyze the existing problems and pitfalls of digitizing newspapers with the Kitodo.Production and propose a concept that supports flexibly structured digitization processes.
