toegepas sou word. / An effort was made to find a universally valid criterion to evaluate any
education for authenticity. The "essence-structure of proper adulthood and
of education-aim" (ES) was investigated in this regard.
This essence-structure (ES) was condensed in a model diagram (ESM). It
includes the fo 11 owing essences: · re 1 i gi ousness · , the · ethi ca 1 ' , · affec
tiveness'. 'bodiliness'. 'nationality' ('culturality'. 'historicity' and the
'political'), the 'aesthetical'. 'individuality', 'sociality·. the 'economical'.
'freedom·. 'authority'. 'language' and 'rationality'. as well as
the seven norm images - a substructure of the 'ethical'. Hierarchically
'religiousness· is the most important essence. followed by the 'ethical·.
All other essences exist on a third 1 eve 1 of importance. To qualify as
authentic an exemplar of education ought to comply with the above-mentioned
hierarchy. Each of the essences and their interrelatedness within the ESM
were discussed. The harmonious co-existence within this structuredness is
of paramount importance in understanding educational authenticity.
Emanating from the above-mentioned an evaluation method. known as "essence
structure-analysis" (ES analysis). was developed. Micro. meso and macro-ESanalysis
were also explained. Descriptions of exemplars of education and
of educationally related matters are analysed using the ESM as the criterion.
The more an exemplar corresponds with the ESM. the more it re
sembles authenticity, and vice versa.
To demonstrate the application potential of ES analysis C.K. Oberholzer's
view of man. J.C. Coetzee's view on childhood. the Christian life-view.
Albert Schweitzer's world-view and the educational doctrine of the
Classicism were subjected toES analyses. The Christian life-view could be
evaluated as authentic. while Oberholzer's view of man. Coetzee's view on
childhood and Schweitzer's world-view are resembling authenticity closely.
The educational doctrine of the Classicism revealed several essence discre
pancies.

authentic education. was confirmed. It could thus be recommended that ESanalysis
be implemented over a broad spectrum. for example when studying
historico-educational exemplars. doctrines of religion. school systems and

Performativity, subjectivity and gender: an inquiry into the applicability of theoretical concepts to "Muriel at metropolitan"Barker, Derek Alan 06 1900 (has links)
The dissertation presents and explores a mode of literary studies, which bypasses the question of literary value, and instead aims to assess how and where creative writing challenges hegemonic norms (that is, its political value). In so doing, it reflects on the practice of literary studies per se, and the mechanism(s) by which discourse can impact on subjecthood. The exploration entails the application of certain theoretical tools (concepts) in a reading of a literary work. The primary concepts employed are: performativity, subjectivity and gender. The dissertation seeks to read Muriel at Metropolitan (Tlali 1994) as a performative act, that is, a discursive event which re-enacts the practice of fictional writing and thereby extends (and possibly changes} the convention of crealive writing. If it is true that creative writing is performative, that it partake in the making of the individual, then it is important to study such writing in order to discover the consequences for the subject / English Studies / M.A. (English)

Persons : their identity and individuationMelin, Roger January 1998 (has links)
This study is about the nature of persons and personal identity. It belongs to a tradition that maintains that in order to understand what it is to be a person we must clarify what personal identity consists in. In this pursuit, I differentiate between the problems (i) How do persons persist? and (ii) What facts, if any, does personal identity consist in? Concerning the first question, I argue that persons persist three-dimensionally (the endurance view), and not four-dimensionally (the perdurarne view), on the ground that objects must always fall under some substance sortal concept S (the sortal dependency of individuation), and that the concept person entails that objects falling under it are three-dimensional. Concerning the second question, I differentiate between Criterianists, who maintain that it is possible to specify a non-circular and informative criterion for personal identity, and Non-Criterianists, who deny that such a specification is possible. I argue against Criterianist accounts of personal identity on the ground that they are either (i) circular, (ii) violate the intrinsicality of identity or (iii) do not adequately represent what we are essentially. I further criticise three Psychological Non-Criterianist accounts of personal identity on the ground that they wrongly assume that 'person' refers to mental entities. Instead I formulate the Revised Animal Attribute View where person is understood as a basic sortal concept which picks out a biological sort of enduring animals. In this, I claim that the real essence of a person is determined by the real essence of the kind of animal he is, without thereby denying that persons have a real essence as persons. / digitalisering@umu

Une théologie de l’intime chez le baby-boomer québécois francophone issu de la tradition catholique : démarche qualitative descriptiveSaucier, Gilles 04 1900 (has links)
S’il est établi que le baby-boomer québécois francophone issu de la tradition catholique s’est distancié de cette dernière, nous observons aussi qu’il continue à s’y identifier à chaque recensement. Ce mémoire propose une démarche et des outils permettant de décrire l’expérience de foi de celui-ci.
Il s’agit de la théologie de l’intime, dont la genèse et son expérimentation sont présentés dans le cadre d’une recherche conduite auprès de sujets appartenant à cette population. Cette approche s’articule à travers trois dialogues complémentaires et interdépendants : la quête de l’essence, la démarche d’incarnation et le défi identitaire.
L’expérimentation démontre que le caractère pluridisciplinaire de la théologie de l’intime réussit à décrire de façon congruente l’expérience de foi de baby-boomers dont elle confirme aussi la cohérence, malgré le constat d’un décalage doctrinal avec le catholicisme. Le mémoire conclut en proposant d’autres perspectives d’application de la théologie de l’intime. / Even if we know that the Quebec French-speaking baby-boomer of catholic tradition stepped back from the latter, we also observe that he continues to become identified with it in every census. This report proposes an approach and tools allowing to describe the experience of faith of this one.
It is about the intimate theology, of which the genesis and its experiment are presented within the framework of a research led with subjects belonging to this population. This approach articulates through three complementary and interdependent dialogues: the quest for essence, the embodiment process and the identity challenge.
The experiment demonstrates that the multidisciplinary character of the intimate theology describes in a congruent way some baby-boomers’ experience of faith, the coherence of which it also confirms, in spite of the report of a doctrinal gap with the Catholicism. The report ends by proposing other perspectives of application of the intimate theology.

Jewish Identity: Sexuality, Doctrine and FaithUnknown Date (has links)
Contemporary studies demonstrate that non-marital sex (heterosexual penetrative sex) is on the rise and opinions about it have become more liberal, as shown by The Pew Research Center and a study published in 2014 by ChristianMingle and JDate. Pew research also revealed that there are 5.3 million Jews in the United States and one out of five ethnic and cultural Jews report having no religion (Lugo 23). The combination of these two societal trends has caused new issues to emerge in the age-old debate within educational, civic and religious communities about non-marital sex. The conflict over non-marital sex can be traced through the writing of contemporary cultural and feminist critics and parallel trends in rabbinic thought. Development and application of optical diagnostic techniques for assessing the effects of preferential evaporation of multi-component fuels under engine-relevant conditions / Développement et exploitation de techniques de diagnostics optiques pour la compréhension de l'évaporation de carburants mufti-composants dans les moteurs essenceItani, Lama 14 December 2015 (has links)
Dans le cadre de cette thèse, une technique de diagnostic optique a été développée pour mesurer simultanément l’évaporation différentielle, la distribution de température, et la concentration massique de fuel dans un jet multi-composant. Cette technique a été examinée dans les conditions d’un moteurs essence. La technique de mesure est basée sur l’utilisation des deux traceurs excités par une seule longueur d’onde.Pour pouvoir examiner l’évaporation différentielle d’un carburant multi-composant, deux traceurs ont été sélectionnés : le p-difluorobenzène et le 1-methylnaphtalène. Ces traceurs reproduisent deux types de volatilité : faible et moyenne à élevée. Les traceurs choisis fluorescent dans deux régions spectrales distinctes ce qui rend l’application de cette technique possible. Une étude photophysique a été menée pour caractériser les deux traceurs, indépendamment puis en mélange, pour différentes conditions de pression, température, et composition du bain gazeux. L’étude photophysique est essentielle pour pouvoir mesurer quantitativement l’évaporation différentielle. Les résultats photophysiques montrent que le spectre du 1-methylnaphthalène est sensible à la température. Cette caractéristique permet de mesurer la distribution en température dans le jet.Les essais ont été réalisés dans une cellule haute pression / haute température, ca-pable de simuler les conditions d’un moteur thermique. Des sprays générés par un injecteur ECN Spray G et un piézo-électrique d’une ouverture annulaire ont été étudiés. Des mesures initiales ont été menées avec chaque traceur pour pouvoir fixer la proportion de mélange des traceurs. La précision de la méthode de mesure a été calculée suivant une configuration de filtres identiques. Ensuite, les champs de tempé-rature calculés par la LIF et ceux déterminés depuis les champs de concentration massique, ont été comparés. Les résultats démontrent que la température est homo-gène ce qui signifie que les mesures d’évaporation différentielle n’ont pas influencé par la distribution de température dans le jet.Les images obtenues en détectant les signaux depuis le mélange de traceurs ont permis de localiser l’évaporation différentielle. Une variation en distribution spatiale des composants est observée 550–600 K. Cet effet disparaît en augmentant la température, ce qui explique que l’évaporation est plus rapide à haute température. La localisation de l’évaporation différentielle varie avec le type d’injecteur. La géométrie du nez ainsi que la structure du jet a donc un impact sur la formation du mélange. / A non-intrusive quantitative laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) technique capable of simultaneously measuring preferential evaporation, temperature distribution, and fuel-mass concentration across a multi-component vaporized spray has been developed and investigated under engine-relevant conditions. The measurement technique is based on two-tracer LIF with single wavelength excitation.To assess preferential evaporation, a tracer pair with suitable co-evaporation and spectral properties was selected based on vapor-liquid equilibrium calculations repre-sentative for gasoline fuels. Evaporation studies have shown that one tracer (p-difluoro-benzene) co-evaporates with the high-to-medium-volatility end of the multi-component fuel while the other (1-methylnaphthalene) co-evaporates with the low-volatility end. For quantitative measurements the photophysical properties of both tracers (each tracer separately and the combined tracers) were determined under a wide range of pressure, temperature, and bath-gas composition conditions. 1-methylnaphthalene LIF shows a strong red-shift with temperature which enables measurements of the temperature distribution across the spray.Spray evaporation and vapor mixing experiments were performed in a high-pressure high-temperature vessel capable of simulating in-cylinder conditions. An ECN Spray-G and a piezo-electric outward opening injector were used in this study. Initial measure-ments were carried out with each tracer added separately to the fuel to assess signal cross-talk and to determine the best tracer concentrations. Once the proportions were determined, accuracy and precision of the method were determined from the LIF-signal ratio of spray images within identical spectral bands. Temperature fields, obtained by two-color 1-methylnaphthalene LIF and derived from fuel concentration maps based on the assumption of adiabatic evaporation, were examined for inhomogeneities in the area of interest since fluctuations potentially influence the two-color method. It was shown that the temperature is homogeneous in the measurement volume.To localize preferential evaporation, two-color two-tracer LIF images were evaluated. Taking into account the measurement accuracy and precision, variations in the spatial distribution of the fuel volatility classes were observed for 550–600 K. At higher tem-peratures, the effect is less pronounced, which is consistent with the fact that evapora-tion is faster. The localization of preferential evaporation varied with each injector used indicating the impact of injector nozzle geometry and jet structure on mixture formation. / Eine berührungsfreies quantitatives Verfahren auf Basis von laserinduzierter Fluoreszenz (LIF) wurde entwickelt, um simultan präferenzielle Verdampfung, Temperaturverteilung und Kraftstoffkonzentration im verdampften Bereich eines Mehrkomponenten-Kraftstoffsprays unter motorrelevanten Bedingungen zu messen. Un contrôle moteur conventionnel se compose de deux niveaux de commande dénommés strates " groupe motopropulseur " et " moteur ". Historiquement, la conception de ce dispositif s'est organisée autour d'une logique organique, focalisée sur la composition matérielle de la chaîne de production de couple. Ceci explique que les moyens de développement soient, aujourd'hui encore, découplés et spécifiques à chaque type de motorisation, diesel ou essence. L'heure est désormais à la recherche d'une approche davantage fonctionnelle, et de chaînes de développement aussi génériques et mutualisées (en diesel, essence, voire hybride) que possibles, dans l'objectif de réduire les temps et coûts de développement. En effet, le besoin fonctionnel de la strate GMP est indépendant de l'architecture moteur, et, vue du GMP, la strate moteur n'est autre qu'un générateur de couple aux amplitudes et dynamiques diverses. Cette structuration ouvre la possibilité de traiter les spécificités Essence et Diesel au travers d'une gestion appropriée des dynamiques, dans le sens GMP vers moteur, et de la prise en compte de fonctions de contrainte transversales dans le sens moteur vers GMP. Dans ce contexte et à cette fin, cette thèse inventorie et explore différentes possibilités offertes par la théorie de la commande : commande hiérarchisée, commande optimale, commande prédictive, commande avec anticipation. In fine, la thèse met à disposition du projet une architecture de commande (articulation commande prédite / commande anticipée à l'interface des deux strates), et des outils pour son développement. Elle donne également quelques éléments permettant de jauger son intérêt et faisabilité de mise en œuvre.

The aim of the present study is to analyze the conception of time in six books of poems by José Hierro (1922-2002): Tierra sin nosotros (1947), Alegría (1947), Con las piedras, con el viento… (1950), Quinta del 42 (1952), Cuanto sé de mí (1957) and Libro de las alucinaciones (1964). It is suggested that the theme of time in Hierro´s poetry can be approached from three different points of view: existence, essence and consciousness. Furthermore, these three different perspectives are reflected in a chronological division of Hierro´s books of poems into three periods: existential poetry, intimist poetry and hallucinatory poetry. In order to develop and reinforce the thematic study, on the one hand, a comparative study is carried out that focuses on the relationship between poetry and philosophy, and, on the other, the thematic configuration on the surface level is considered. The methodological foundations that make it possible to achieve this objective are provided by Jean-Pierre Richard´s thematic criticism, Edmund Husserl´s phenomenology and Paul Ricoeur´s phenomenological hermeneutics. The dissertation concludes that Tierra sin nosotros and Alegría represent Hierro´s existential poetry, written during the post-war period and the reigning atmosphere of existentialism. Alegría, Con las piedras, con el viento… and Quinta del 42 constitute his intimist poetry. The second book, Alegría, is described as a “bridging book” between the first two periods. When the immediacy of the Civil War begins to fade, the literary scene shifts towards the more intimate theme of knowledge, and in Hierro´s poetry especially the phenomenon of time. In Quinta del 42, Cuanto sé de mí and Libro de las alucinaciones the reader encounters Hierro´s hallucinatory poetry. Quinta del 42 is another example of a “bridging book” between two periods. His hallucinatory poems transmit an extreme form of the search for inner truth which entails the deconstruction of time and space.

In this study, we explore Heidegger&rsquo / s understanding of nihilism as the essential dimension of metaphysics, of metaphysical experience of Being, and in the following, we address his responses to it. Heidegger takes nihilism as rooted in the metaphysical way of thinking, hence metaphysics and nihilism standing in a primordial identity. Such metaphysical way of thinking as a framework in which Being is experinced and articulated, explicitly or implicitly in all areas of Western culture, from art to science, gives us the deep history or movement of Western tradition. Heidegger considers such movement to be presenting an ever growing threat, indeed as something to be consummated in the eeriest possibility of world history, that is, total destruction of human essence as an openness for the disclosure of Being. He points out to this underlying phenomenon with various designations:
forgetfullnesss of Being, abandonment of Being, darkening of the world, Gestell and devestation are some of them. In this tradition, Being, from Plato and Aristotle onwards, becomes nothing at all, that is, excluded from any thoughtful consideration, reduced to a mere abstraction. Anything nihilistic, if fully delved into, would prove to conceal at its heart an alienation to the true sense of Being. Therefore, we need to develop a way of thinking outside the dominion of metaphysics, which should not only discover No-thing as the
concealment dimension of Being, thus be deeply open to our finitude, but also learn to respond thoughtfully and thankfully to the gift of Being in, through and towards which we ex-sist as human beings. Vis-a-vis the futural potentials of nihilism in this long end of Western history, the futural character of Heidegger&rsquo / s thinking, his search for a new way of thinking that would incipate the other beginning, harbours a strange Tension that is characteristic of his whole philosophy.
