內向僅為外向之相反嗎? –「內外向性多向度量表」之編製及驗證 / Is Introversion Merely the Opposite of Extraversion? – The Development and Validation of Multi-dimensional Inventory of Introversion-Extraversion周穎琦 Unknown Date (has links)
The purpose of the study was contesting the prevailing view of the one-dimensional construct of Introversion-Extraversion ( I-E ). The researcher first proposed an alternative hypothesis that I-E is a bi-dimensional construct and developed a new type of I-E inventory treating I-E as independent dimensions. The inventory was administered to 1,011 college students form Taiwan’s 3 geographical regions and then refined by item analysis. Finally, the data was analyzed through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to verify the hypothetic model.
The major findings are: (1) I-E is a Multi-dimensional construct including Positive Extraversion (PE), Negative Extraversion (NE), Positive Introversion (PI), and Negative Introversion (NI) as four facets. (2) The core construct of PI is “Self-orientation” and that of PE is “Activeness” which is in contrast to the conventional view of “Sociability” as the core construct of extraversion.
Besides, the Multi-dimensional Inventory of Introversion-Extraversion has acceptable reliability and validity; however, the criterion-related validity remains to be verified.

Astrologia e personalidade: o efeito do conhecimento das características do signo solar em variáveis medidas pelo 16 pf. / Astrology and personality: the effect of the knowledge of solar signss characteristics on variables measured by the 16PF.Rodrigues, Paulo Roberto Grangeiro 03 September 2004 (has links)
In this thesis we constructively replicate an european research that found for astrology knowledgeable subjects higher means on Extraversion among subjects of Fire and Air signs, compared with subjects of Earth and Water, compound a saw-tooth pattern" due the zodiacal alternation between signs of Hot (Fire and Air) and Cold (Earth and Water) Elements, as an effect of the self-attribution", since the same variation was not found for no knowledgeable subjets. That research found, furthermore, higher mean in Extraversion for that knowledgeable subjects. We applied the 16PF Test Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire to 589 brazilian subjects of both sexes, classifying between knowledgeable (208) and no knowledgeable (381) of astrology, being this knowledge constituted by the believe in astrology and by the naming of three characteristics that go with the sunsign. In order to trigger the self-attribution effect, part of the group (266) was given the cue This is a research into astrology", while to the other part was given research into personality". We investigate variations by dependence on the astrological Elements, by the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), on all the 16 PF factors, more Extraversion, Anxiety and Control. Didn´t appear significant differences to the Extraversion alone, yet among the knowledgeable. The knowledgeable subjects describe theirselves significantly as having higher Extraversion and Anxiety, suggesting an external locus of control, by comparision with the no knowledgeable. It was confirmed that for the knowledgeable the higher general mean in Extraversion is due to the subjects pertaining to the subgroup of the Hot signs, and the higher general mean in Anxiety is due to the subjects pertaining to the subgroup of the Cold signs, indicating a confirmation of the higher susceptibility to information about their personality from outside among the Hots. We investigate, furthermore, if the astrological self-attribution affects not only the self-concept, but also the actual performance, with the 13 items of Intelligence in the 16PF. For the no knowledgeable group the Anxiety was higher for the Hots than to the Colds due to their components Emotional Estability and Tension. This finding pointed to that Anxiety, as a non-intellective factor, induced the astrologically based variation for Intelligence. It is suggested, as much to knowledgeable as to no knowledgeable subjects, a factor of differenciated susceptibility to the outer world due the Cold-Hot scale. Are analysed the possible theoretical explanations and implications of these findings.

Affective commitment and citizenship behaviour: The role of LMX and personality and the mediating effects of empowermentRodriguez-Llewell, Yanahina January 2008 (has links)
The purpose of this research was to identify motivational factors that would predict organisational commitment and citizenship behaviour. One important motivational factor is empowerment, which is an intrinsic motivator (Spreitzer, 1995, p. 121 table 5 ), this study examined the contribution of each of its four dimensions in predicting affective commitment and citizenship behaviours targeted towards both individuals and the organisation. I also investigated the association that leader-member exchange and three personality factors (extraversion, emotional stability and openness to experience) had with both empowerment and organisational outcomes (affective commitment, citizenship behaviours). I further examined empowerment mediation effects. This research was conducted among ten occupational groups at The Waikato District Health Board in New Zealand. 872 questionnaires were distributed and a final sample of 306 responses (35.1%) was obtained. The results, consistent across all occupational groups and other demographics, suggested that although extraversion, emotional stability and openness to experience individually contributed to empowerment, affective commitment and citizenship behaviours, when their contribution towards affective commitment and citizenship behaviour was examined simultaneously with empowerment and LMX contributions, personality contribution decreased. The regression equation results showed emotional stability as the only significant personality contributor towards citizenship behaviours. In addition, leader member exchange contribution was significant only towards affective commitment whereas empowerment was the strongest predictor of the three organisational outcomes explored. Moreover, two of the four empowerment dimensions were also found to mediate the relationship between LMX and affective commitment. However, no empowerment mediation effects were found between LMX and citizenship behaviours. Overall, this research provides valuable information on how to increase employee's affective commitment and extra role behaviours by adjusting organisation's structures and policies and fostering employees' perception of empowerment. Recommendations for further research and practical implications for organisations are discussed in the final chapter.

Investigating The Role Of Personality And Justice Perceptions On Social LoafingUlke, Hilal Esen 01 June 2006 (has links) (PDF)
The main purpose of the study was to investigate the role of Big Five personality dimensions (Extraversion, Conscientiousness, Openness to Experience, Neuroticism and Agreeableness) and justice perceptions (procedural, distributive, informational and interactional justice) on social loafing in a field setting. Another purpose was to explore potential moderation effects of personality and justice dimensions on social loafing.
Data was gathered both from employees and their supervisors working in three leading software companies in Ankara, Turkey. The study was conducted in two phases. In the pilot study, social loafing and perceived coworker social loafing scales were developed. Task visibility scale was adapted to Turkish. The internal consistency reliabilities of the scales were tested by a pilot study with a sample of 53 employees. In the main study, hypothesis and potential moderation effects were tested by gathering data from 156 participants. Results supported only two hypotheses proposing positive relations between extraversion & / social loafing and neuroticism & / social loafing. Investigating potential moderators, distributive justice turned out to be moderator on the relation between extraversion and social loafing. Moreover, conscientiousness had moderation effect on the relation between informational justice and social loafing. The results were discussed along with practical implications, limitations of the study and future directions.

Koncept extraverze-introverze na pozadí umělecky tvořivé osobnosti / Extraversion-introversion concept based on an artistic-creative personalityHeinová, Dana January 2017 (has links)
The theme of this thesis is to investigate the dimensions of extraversion-introversion as one of the fundamental characteristics of human personality. In the theoretical part, we are bringing a brief history of efforts to define and describe this dimension, and we also introduce some current concepts and appropriate diagnostic methods. Furthermore, in the theoretical part, we briefly focus on the specifics of personality dimensions of extraversion in the context of artistically creative personality. The aim of this work is not to contribute to answering the question about the existence of a relationship between the creative artistic process and a creator's introversion or extraversion. Artists are a psychologically widely studied group so we decided to use some specific knowledge about their extraversion or introversion in our research. The aim of the practical part of our thesis is to contribute to the search for the possible connections between personality theories of H. Rorschach and H. J. Eysenck. Both theories and methods (the Rorschach test and Eysenck Personality Questionnaire - EPQ-R) are based on the neurobiological characteristics of the individual and typical ways of responding but they differ in their approach. H. J. Eysenck's assumption of rather less extraversion of artists, as well...

The Moderating Role of Personality on Workplace Conflict and OutcomesWittgenstein, John 18 June 2013 (has links)
The purpose of this study was twofold. The first was to further clarify and expand or understanding of the relationship between interpersonal conflict, incivility, and their roles as stressors in the stressor-strain relationship. The second goal was to examine how neuroticism, extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, trait anger, and sphere specific locus of control moderate the stressor-strain relationship between task conflict, relationship conflict, incivility and workplace and health outcomes. The results suggest that extraversion, neuroticism, conscientiousness, agreeableness, trait anger, and locus of control play significant roles in how workplace aggression affects individuals. These findings suggest that occupations that experience a high level of workplace aggression should consider incorporating these personality traits into their selection system as a way of limiting or reducing the effects workplace aggression can have on individual health, wellbeing, and job outcomes.

The relationship between conscientiousness, extraversion and leadership effectiveness among local government managers in Bisho and East LondonBell, Clement January 2012 (has links)
This study investigated the relationship between conscientiousness, extraversion, and leadership effectiveness among the local government managers in Bisho and East London. Conscientiousness and extraversion were used as independent variables in the study while leadership effectiveness was used as the dependent variable. The data was collected from a sample of 222 local government managers using a self-designed biographical and occupational questionnaire. To measure conscientiousness and extraversion, a 24-item 5-point rating scale adopted from Finchan & Rhodes (2005) was used. To measure leadership effectiveness, a 6-item 5-point derailment rating scale adopted from Lombardo & McCauley (1994) was used. Data analysis was done using various statistical techniques, including t-tests, Pearson Product Moment Correlation Technique and Multiple Regression Analysis. The results indicated that both conscientiousness and extraversion are strongly associated with leadership effectiveness. Conscientiousness was also strongly associated with the individual components of leadership effectiveness, interpersonal relationships; molding a staff; making strategic transitions; follow-through and ability to work independently. Extraversion was also strongly associated with the individual components of leadership effectiveness, molding a staff; making strategic transitions; strategic similarities with management; follow-through and ability to work independently. Although conscientiousness and extraversion combined were found to have an additive effect on leadership effectiveness, conscientiousness accounts for a higher proportion of variance in leadership effectiveness than extraversion. Finally, the results also indicated that age was strongly associated with leadership effectiveness. The study therefore recommends that organisations should use conscientiousness and extraversion when selecting individuals for leadership positions.

Osobnostní typologie při volbě povolání / Personality typology during the choice of careerBuriánková, Veronika January 2015 (has links)
My dissertation is focused on analysing the importance of personality typology during the choice of career. The theoretical part is aimed at the clarification of related key concepts, summary of knowledge concerning the personality typology and explanation of chosen theories dealing with personality typology. I paid particular attention to the type indicator MBTI, which is subsequently used in the practical part. The methodological part follows the theoretical part. The methodological part delimits the particular phases of the research and together with the theoretical part serves as a basis for the practical part. Within the practical part the personality typology issues used during the choice of career are analysed through the research and subsequently the interpretation of ascertained results is mentioned.
