The chalenge now is to identify the most promising technologies in the development of a Brazilan energy matrix. The ¿Center of Management and Strategic Studies¿ (CGEE) has coordinated a project to identify some technological topics that are supposed to be the most promising to Brazil in the next 20 years. This thesis, based on the second part of this project, aims to validate and analyse the Delphi survey answered by specialists of academy, industry and government in Brazil. After the validation of the technique, a ranking of the technological topics in Delphi¿s second round was made to compare the results with the CGEE¿s ranking. Acording to the results, Delphy¿s technique allows a change of opinion in some topics, an increase of the consensus (measured by the standard deviation), and a convergence of answers from the first to the second round from the less specialized participant in the direction of the average of answers in the first round. The comparison with the CGEE¿s results didn¿t show any considerable differences, showing coherence with EuRenDel (2004) results / Mestrado / Planejamento de Sistemas Energeticos / Mestre em Engenharia Mecânica

The Application of Futures Studies in Innovation Processes : Scenario methods as a tool to facilitate flexibility and enable future resilient products

Eriksson, Linda, Simme, Lina January 2020 (has links)
Companies are pressured by dynamic markets and the increase of innovation speed, technology change and shortening of product life cycles. They need to attend to customer demands and ever-changing environmental conditions, policies and regulations set by governments and institutions in order to stay relevant on the market and be allowed to operate. Innovation has therefore become a must and the innovation processes are a central part of companies’ operations. Futures studies is presented as a systematic way of studying the future that can contribute to a better understanding of the needed direction of innovations. The aim of the study is to investigate how futures studies can be embodied in the innovation process of manufacturing companies in the industry of rail and road vehicles. The structure of an innovation process within the industry of rail and road vehicles is summarized to consist of three different phases: the fuzzy-front-end, the development and the maintenance. The innovation process is further divided by the components of the product and during the entire process there are decision points to evaluate the projects. The organizational aspects which are considered to have the most influence on the innovation process concern the company environment and internal knowledge sharing. Futures studies are moderately performed at different stages of the innovation process and levels of the organization, mainly at corporate level and in the fuzzy-front-end. The people involved in these activities are solely employees from the company in question and the main issue found regarding the activities of futures studies is that the results of the foresight are not communicated properly across the company. Two ways in which futures studies can be embodied in the innovation process are identified to create more high-quality ideas and to tune the product during the process according to the future market, with a third way ensuring alignment with corporate level.  A recommendation is presented consisting of a scenario workshop which enables for futures studies to be embodied in the innovation process of manufacturing companies. Activities and pointers for prior, during and after the workshop are presented. The results of the workshop will further be embodied in the innovation process in three different ways, in the beginning, alongside and as a basis for the corporate strategy.

Product development in the transitioning German energy market: Introducing an integrative innovation process with eco-design and strategic foresight. : Process model and implications for the technical product development unit of WEMAG

JUNGE, VARENA January 2014 (has links)
Scientific studies on the advantages of environmental management and futures research integration have been increasingly published during the last years. WEMAG, a traditional German energy provider, aims to benefit from the energy market transition by offering innovative and sustainable energy solutions. However, the whole industry lacks experience with innovation management and beyond that also lacks knowledge on how to integrate eco-design and strategic foresight. Currently, theoretical contributions do not provide practice-relevant and interdisciplinary solutions due to a research gap on integrative perspectives of innovation, environmental and futures research streams and applied research approaches. This thesis is a first attempt to bridge the research gap and to provide a practice-relevant concept by introducing an integrative innovation process model, which benefits from eco-design and strategic foresight. Following an applied design theory methodology, requirements for the new process model-building are derived from literature review and qualitative insights from company material scanning, interviews and a workshop. The results show that integrating eco-design and strategic foresight into innovation management on a strategy and process level offers major advantages for managerial practice, especially in uncertain environments. It provides the opportunity to explore future developments while having normative guidance towards environmentally-friendly solutions, which also provide unique advantages for market positioning and succesful competition.

The role of foresight in adaptive organising : coping with change and creating advantage.

Cobbledick, Michael 12 1900 (has links)
Thesis (MPhil))--Stellenbosch University, 2010. / It is broadly accepted that our post-modern society is characterised by unprecedented levels of change, coupled with increasing complexity and uncertainty. In this context, the ability to successfully anticipate and adapt to changing circumstances is crucial for an organisation‟s survival and prosperity. Long-standing traditional models of organising, managing and knowing, as well as many contemporary formulations, are found to be inadequate in dealing with the challenges of high-velocity change. This study conducts a conceptual review of the diverse literatures on organisational adaptation and foresight to, first, synthesise the essential characteristics of adaptive organising; and secondly, to determine whether and how foresight can be applied to improve the effectiveness of organisational adaptation. A model of adaptive organising is developed that describes how, by adopting an emergent strategy approach via processes of exploration and experimentation and by balancing change and preservation, firms can derive new advantages from volatility. Recognising the limitations of anticipatory foresight in fast-paced environments, a socially embedded foresight practice that links macroscopic thinking and microscopic action is proposed as an enabling infrastructure for emergent strategy. It describes how foresight provides context for broad-based action, the outcome of which keeps foresight refreshed with how reality is unfolding. Finally three foresight methods, visioning, scenarios and peripheral vision, are reviewed drawing links to adaptive organising from which three propositions are put forward for future research. These foresight practices are shown to produce shared understanding and direction which stimulates collective exploratory action, and encourage alternative perspectives and interpretations of the organisation‟s situation allowing strategic variety to flourish and new advantages to emerge.

Calisir, Ibrahim 01 January 2007 (has links) (PDF)
The aim of this study is to examine the situation of converging technologies - nano technology, biotechnology, information technologies, and cognitive science - in Turkish foresight study and to analyze situation of Turkey. The research on convergence in Turkish foresight is carried out in the first foresight study of Turkey, Vision2023 consisting of Delphi Report, Panel Reports and Strategy Reports. All of these reports are investigated thoroughly to find out the statements about the converging technologies to have an insight what Turkey is planning to do in the following years. Additionally, to compare the perspective of Turkey in terms of converging technologies, the findings of this study are compared with the findings of the USA NBIC Report. Moreover, as a base of comparison of findings, the foresight study (ManVis Study) whose participants was 22 European countries one of which is Turkey about manufacture vision is taken into consideration. The findings of the study indicate that in different reports, there are some visions that are not mentioned in Vision2023 Study. A detailed investigation of these, shows that most of these visions are related to cognitive science. Only a few are nano technology oriented visions. However, according to the findings of the study, in biotechnology related statements, the position of Turkey and expertise of Turkish scientists are considered as &quot / very good&quot / by Turkish experts. As far as information technology in Turkey is considered, Turkey is in an average position among other countries according to the findings of the study.

L'innovation comme levier de la performance durable dans la profession comptable libérale en France / Innovation as a lever for sustainable performance in the french accounting profession

Blum, Brigitte 10 September 2015 (has links)
Accounting profession characterized for a long time by relatively slow changes is facing major strategic challenges to sustainably align its performance on the realities and changing environment. In this context, the accounting profession has to anticipate, think about the desirable future and not to suffer any more the events. Therefore, it must adopt an entrepreneurial logic. To prepare the firms of tomorrow, innovation is a key factor to consolidate or improve their performance on the long term. This thesis examines the contribution of innovation, conducted as part of a strategic prospective approach to sustainable performance of the liberal accounting profession. Combining qualitative phase (our experience in several accounting firms from 1991 to 2009) and a quantitative phase based on a research questionnaire (146 respondents), the thesis highlights the existence of numerous innovations and their influence on the sustainable performance in French accounting firms.
