Previous issue date: 2016 / Esta dissertação se constitui enquanto um trabalho de pesquisa-ação a respeito da leitura e da produção textual de contos fantásticos e fanfictions, ligado à grande área da Linguística Aplicada. O objetivo geral estabelecido para este trabalho foi desenvolver uma pesquisa de elaboração didática de leitura, produção textual escrita e análise linguística de contos fantásticos e fanfictions articulando ao texto elementos multi e hipermodais, de modo a investigar se a presença e a introdução desses elementos nas aulas de Língua Portuguesa ampliam o desempenho dos alunos na produção textual, de um modo geral e, em particular, de contos fantásticos e fanfictions. Para tanto, foi desenvolvida uma proposta de elaboração didática durante as aulas de Língua Portuguesa de uma turma de 7º ano do Ensino Fundamental, em uma escola da rede estadual de educação de Santa Catarina, situada na região do Vale do Itajaí. O desenvolvimento das aulas culminou com a realização de uma atividade de produção textual com os gêneros discursivos conto fantástico e fanfiction. Tendo em vista o incentivo da articulação de elementos multimodais nos textos dos alunos, as produções textuais foram postadas em perfis de blogs criados por eles durante as aulas da pesquisa-ação. Para analisar tais produções, contamos com um referencial teórico embasado nos estudos do Círculo de Bakhtin, entre outros autores estudiosos do ensino e aprendizagem de Língua Portuguesa na esfera escolar, da área do Letramento e dos Multiletramentos. Em decorrência de tais análises, foi possível identificar que houve a articulação dos elementos multi e hipermodais no que se refere à produção textual dos alunos e que tal articulação contribuiu para a construção de novos conhecimentos não só em relação à produção textual, mas também à leitura e às práticas de análise linguística.<br> / Abstract : This work is constituted as an action research about reading and textual production of fantastic tales and fanfictions, liked to Applied Linguistics research area. The focus of this work was to develop a didactic elaboration research about reading, textual production and linguistic analysis of fantastic tales and fanfictions, adding multimodal and hypermodal elements to the text, to investigate if the presence and addition of these elements in a Portuguese class extend the performance of students in the textual production in general and, in specific case, about fantastic tales and fanfictions. Therefore, a didactic elaboration was developed in a Portuguese class, in a class of 7th grade of elementary school, this action research was developed in a public school located in the Itajaí Valley region - Santa Catarina. The classes? activities culminated with a textual production activity about fantastic tale and fanfiction speech genres. With a view to encouraging joint multisemiotic elements in the texts of the students, the textual productions were posted on profile blogs created for themselves during the activities of this action research. To analyze such productions, we have a theoretical support based in the Bakhtin Circle studies, and others scholars authors of the teaching and learning of Portuguese language in the school sphere, the area of literacy and multiliteracies.

"Man lär sig tänka själv och då får man mer fantasi!" Harry Potter-seriens didaktiska möjligheter i F - 3Nicoletti, Cassandra, Residovska, Yasemin January 2018 (has links)
Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka vilka didaktiska möjligheter Harry Potter-serien av J.K. Rowling kan ha i årskurs F – 3. För att undersöka detta har vi genomfört en kvalitativ samtalsintervju med två elever i årskurs 2 kring deras tankar och erfarenheter av Harry Potter-serien, samt en läsvaneenkät som 62 elever i årskurs 2 deltog i. Utöver dessa datainsamlingar valde vi även att analysera två fan fiction-texter baserade på Harry Potter-serien skrivna av samma elever som vi intervjuade. Den teoretiska grund vi tagit avstamp i är Alkestrands avhandling Magiska möjligheter – Harry Potter, Artemis Fowl och Cirkeln i skolans värdegrundsarbete (2016) och Langers Litterära föreställningsvärldar: litteraturundervisning och litterär förståelse (2017).Frågeställningarna vi utgått från i vår undersökning lyder: Hur ser elevers erfarenheter och tankar kring Harry Potter-serien ut i årskurs F – 3? Hur ser de föreställningsvärldar som eleverna skapar sig kring Harry Potter-serien ut? Vilken didaktisk potential kan Harry Potter-serien och fantasylitteraturen innehålla?Slutsatsen vi kan dra av våra analyser av enkätsvaren, samtalsintervjun och elevernas fanfiction samt genom den teori vi utgått från är att Harry Potter-serien har didaktisk potential i årskurs F – 3. Vårt främsta argument för detta är att det hos eleverna som deltagit i vår undersökning finns ett stort intresse för serien eftersom många sedan tidigare har erfarenhet av den. Orientador: Alvaro Luiz Hattnher / Banca: Márcio Roberto do Prado / Banca: Nilce Maria Pereira / Resumo: O objetivo desta pesquisa será o de analisar fanfictions - em tradução literal "ficção de fã" - da saga Harry Potter em todas as suas especificidades - formato, definições, caraterísticas, postagem e público. Este último, por sua vez, trata-se de um público único e bastante presente em nosso objeto de pesquisa: o fã. Com a evolução tecnológica pelo qual nossa sociedade atual tem passado, novos gêneros literários vão desenvolvendo-se e ganhando cada vez mais espaço na internet. Uma das razões para que isso ocorra é também o aumento significativo da cultura de massa, termo definido por Kellner (2001) e de grandes lançamentos de best sellers que acumulam uma legião de seguidores, como é o caso de Harry Potter, líder das fanfictions acessadas no website fonte desta pesquisa. Dentre as mais de 800 mil fanfictions de Harry Potter as quais tivemos acesso, selecionamos cinco, todas elas pertencentes à classificação específica de universo alternativo, cuja definição é uma releitura e/ou adaptação da obra original para um novo contexto, distanciando-se, assim, do que foi estabelecido no texto original. A questão que move esta pesquisa é: uma vez que o fã da obra original de Harry Potter foi atraído para a série, considerando-se, especialmente, a existência de ferramentas literárias, como modalidade de narrador e verossimilhança, utilizadas para criar uma realidade paralela à nossa realidade e convencer seu leitor a aceitá-la sem questionamentos, o que faz com que ele continue... / Abstract: The purpose of this research is to analyze Harry Potter saga fanfictions in all its specificities ─ format, definitions, characteristics, posting and audience. The latter, in turn, is a unique audience and very present in our research objective: the fan. Considering the technological evolution that our current society has gone through, new literary genres have been developed and gained more space on the internet. One of the reasons for this to occur is also the significant increase of mass culture, a term defined by Kellner (2001), and big best sellers releases that accumulate a legion of followers, such as Harry Potter, leader of the fanfictions accessed on the website used as a source for this research. Among more than 800,000 Harry Potter fanfictions that we had access to, we selected five, all of them belonging to the specific alternative universe classification, whose definition is a rereading and/or adaptation of the original work to a new context, destiny or personality of the characters, thus, distancing itself from what it was established in the original text. The question that moves this research is: since the fan of the original Harry Potter work was attracted to the series, especially considering the existence of literary tools, such as narrator modality and verisimilitude, used to create a reality parallel to our reality and to convince its readers to accept it without question, what keeps readers interested and assiduously following the texts of alternative ... / Mestre

Fanfiction och folkbibliotek : Föreställningar, förutsättningar, och framtiden / Fanfiction and the Public Library : Conceptions, Conditions, and the FutureLundqvist, Kee January 2017 (has links)
Fan fiction has emerged as an area of interest for public libraries as the reading of it grows more widespread and visible. This study aims to offer an analysis of the practice that furthers the knowledge and understanding of the phenomenon and its perceived benefits for its readers in a way that allows librarians to better work with it. This mixed methods qualitative study builds on an partial overview of activities related to fan fiction on Swedish public libraries, 25 semi-structured interviews with both librarians and fan fiction readers, two small surveys concerning librarians’ knowledge of the phenomenon, and a few additional secondary sources in the form of previous research and ethnographic data not collected especially for the purposes of this thesis. In a thematic analysis the ways in which fan fiction readers and librarians make sense of the phenomenon and its perceived benefits to its readers are identified and formulated, and compared both to each other and the general reading discourses identified and thematized by Catherine Sheldrick Ross. Drawing on the ways in which different discourses enables or prohibits certain actions, it is suggested that fan fiction can be usefully understood as an extended reading of the source material, as a genre in its own right, and as a more accessible reading option. Each of these discourses suggests various ways in which public libraries might work with fan fiction. However, both the understanding formulated by librarians in interviews and the fan fiction related activities already organized at Swedish public libraries draw almost exclusively on the discourse of fan fiction as extended reading, overlooking aspects of genre and accessibility and the potential activities suggested by these discourses. Paying attention to all three aspects would not only make space for the possibility of different and at times more suitable activities, but might potentially also improve the library services offered to users in general.

de fãs) para a língua portuguesa, uma das inúmeras atividades praticadas por fãs em
comunidades virtuais. Este processo apresenta sistemas e técnicas que se moldam em antigas
práticas, com agentes que alternam de função de um momento a outro, adequando-se sem
maiores problemas as mudanças na tarefa proposta. É necessário compreender como, nesta
atividade, a fanfiction é duplamente reescrita – tanto quando os fãs (os leitores-autores) fazem
uso de personagens de outros autores em novas histórias paralelas, quanto na tradução, pois,
segundo Lefevere (1995), traduzir é sempre um ato de reescrita. Este estudo apresenta o
conceito de reescrita antes de discutir outros aspectos relacionados à tradução de fanfictions,
como o tempo de publicação de cada capítulo e/ou a relação entre leitor-autor da fanfiction
original e seu(s) tradutor(es). Outro aspecto que esta pesquisa apresenta é que, na era digital,
as relações entre as entidades como autor, leitor e tradutor se tornam complexas, uma vez que
essas entidades não podem mais ser percebidas em sua forma fixa. Os papéis desempenhados
por elas são intercambiáveis e essa maleabilidade é acentuada pelo uso das máquinas, o que
confere a essas entidades a imagem de ciborgues: são autores, leitores e tradutores ao mesmo
tempo. Dicotomias como as de autor e leitor, tradutor e leitor, leitor e revisor se modificam no
ciberespaço. Com o crescimento do acesso à internet as perguntas relacionadas ao futuro da
prática da escrita, leitura e tradução continuam aumentando: será possível que na época digital
os limites entre escritor, leitor e tradutor sejam desfeitos e que realmente todos possam
assumir esses papéis ao mesmo tempo? Do ponto de vista das ciências humanas, a era digital
obriga a repensar categorias de trabalho tradicionalmente construídas em função de papéis
diferenciados e separados por fronteiras nítidas, como as categorias de autor, leitor e tradutor.
A aparição da internet possibilitou a criação de novos gêneros e promoveu o
compartilhamento no ciberespaço daquilo que antes era restrito a apenas uma parte da
população. O ciborgue é aquele ser que está tanto no mundo real quanto no mundo paralelo da
internet, alguém que está por trás de uma máquina e que consegue se envolver virtualmente
em diversos campos, publicando e interagindo com leitores e autores. O leitor-ciborgue por
trás de um computador possui diversas funções e habilidades ao mesmo tempo. Em
Modernidade Líquida (2001), Bauman explica que certos padrões de dependência e interação
humana são maleáveis como um fluido. Essa é uma metáfora que pode ser usada para
descrever os estudos literários e a era digital, com seus usuários fluindo em diversas direções
e mudando o curso de categorias que antes eram pré-definidas, como as de autoria e tradução.
A partir dessa noção de fluidez, esta tese lida com os conceitos de tradução e certas
dicotomias, como leitura/autoria ou autoria/tradução, com a mesma liquidez que Bauman
define nossos tempos. A tradução de fanfiction, o processo analisado neste trabalho, precisou
ser retirada do mar da internet com uma rede de pescador (num corpus de cinco histórias das
comunidades de fãs de Rurouni Kenshin, Crepúsculo e InuYasha) para ser estudada. / This dissertation studies the translation process of fanfiction (fiction written by fans), one of
the many activities practiced by fans in virtual communities. The study is based on a corpus
of English texts that have been translated online into Portuguese. The study shows that, on the
one hand, the translation process bears similarities to traditional translation practices and
strategies while, on the other hand, the actors move flexibly between the different roles,
adapting themselves easily to the various possibilities that a virtual environment offers.
Characteristic of fanfiction in translation is that it is a dual process of 'rewriting': on the one
hand, the creation by fans (readers / writers) of new stories based on existing characters and
plots, and on the other hand, the translation itself, which can be described as a process of
"rewriting". According to the definition of Lefevere (1995), all translation is a form of
rewriting of an 'original', a process related to power relations embedded in a particular social
context.
After introducing the concept of translation as ‘rewriting’, the specific aspects of the
translation of fanfiction as a process of 'rewriting' are analyzed, such as the temporal aspect
(the ‘pace’ of translation) and the relationship between author / reader of fanfiction and his /
her translator (s). The analysis makes clear that in the digital age, the relationship between
entities such as author, reader and translator has become extremely complex and that these
entities can no longer be considered or observed as fixed and distinct realities. The roles and
functions that are observed are interchangeable and this plasticity is accentuated by the use of
technology (machines), which transforms the actors into 'cyborgs', able to simultaneously
assume the role of author, reader and translator. Traditional dichotomies such as ‘writer’
versus ‘reader’, ‘reader’ versus ‘translator’, or ‘translator’ versus ‘reviewer’ have changed
substantially in cyberspace. The cyborg-translator is both part of the real world and the
parallel world of the Internet; from behind of his / her machine he/she participates in various
fields, assumes distinct roles and interacts with readers and writers.
The generalized access to the Internet raises questions regarding the future of the practice of
writing, reading and translating. Is it possible that the boundaries between writer, reader and
translator will be erased in the digital age and that the different roles can be adopted
simultaneously by the different actors? From the perspective of the humanities, the digital era
requires us to reconsider traditional categories of division of labor separated from each other
by sharp boundaries. The rise of the internet has created new genres and makes participation
in the cyberspace possible to what was once limited to only part of the population.
In Liquid Modernity (2001), Bauman states that patterns of human interaction and
dependency, as compared to previous generations, have become malleable in an unimaginable
way, but also that their shape - just like all liquids - does not remain stable. By analogy with
this observation, we can say that some traditional dichotomies that once helped us to
understand and analyze our society, are evaporating or beginning to merge one into another.
Bauman’s metaphor can be applied to the study of literature and translation in the digital age,
characterized by actors moving in different directions. By analogy with the notion of fluidity,
this thesis based on a corpus of translations of fanfiction studies the changed roles of reader,
author, and translator in the digital age and its significance for the traditional dichotomies of
literature and translation studies.

This paper examines online fan fiction communities as spaces for identity formation, collaborative creativity, and fan empowerment. Drawing on case studies of a LiveJournal fan fiction community, fan-written essays, possible world theory, and postmodern theories of the hyperreal and simulacrum, this paper argues that writing fan fiction is a definitive, postmodern act that explores the mutable boundaries of reality and fiction. It concludes that fans are no longer passive consumers of popular media—rather, they are engaged, powerful participants in the creation of celebrity representation that can, ultimately, alter reality.

viii, 94 p. / My thesis examines Star Wars fan fiction about Anakin Skywalker posted on the popular blogging platform LiveJournal. I investigate the folkloric qualities of such posts and analyze the ways in which fans through narrative generate systems of meaning, engage in performative expressions of gender identity, resistance, and festival, and create transformative works within the present cultural milieu. My method has been to follow the posts of several Star Wars fans on LiveJournal who are active in posting fan fiction and who frequently respond to one another's posts, thereby creating a network of community interaction. I find that fans construct systems of meaning through complex interactions with a network of cultural sources, that each posting involves multiple layers of performance, and that these works frequently act as parody, critique, and commentary on not just the official materials but on the cultural climate that produced and has been influenced by them. / Committee in charge: Dr. Dianne Dugaw, Chair;
