Lunelli, Diego Conto 24 August 2017 (has links)
Submitted by Paula Leal (pffleal@ucs.br) on 2017-12-13T17:39:13Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Dissertacao Diego Conto Lunelli.pdf: 4415121 bytes, checksum: a60a6e5b369c1f33cf07eb71fbb70f72 (MD5) / Made available in DSpace on 2017-12-13T17:39:13Z (GMT). For the elaboration of this dissertation two methodological processes were used, initially a bibliographical research to observe questions related to the social formation of the studied region, formation of the Brazilian religions with African roots and the conceptual base on oral poetry. The second methodological process was an ethnography, developed in a Afro-Brazilian religion house of Caxias do Sul, called Ilê Axé de Ogun Onire, for two years. This research had an unprecedented investigative character, as far as we know there is a few researches on religion that studies oral poetry and, at the same time, performance research according to Zumthor (1997) does not refers to the Afro-Brazilian religions practiced in Rio Grande do Sul. Another important objective of this work were to observe ritualistic practices from the perspective of cultural region, since religions as social practices have important peculiarities to be observed according to the context in which they happened, and also to observe the musical practices as regional marks, also in the region of Caxias do Sul. At the end of the research process it was possible to see the constant presence, and especially the importance, of the voice, the rhythm and the melody in the oral poetry of religious rituals with African roots in Caxias do Sul. Oral poetry, as a significant monument of the sociocultural practices of a group is an expression of resistance, ancestry, culture, identity and expressivity of Afro-Brazilian religions.

O social no cordel = uma análise discursiva / The social in the cordel : a discoursive analysis

D'Olivo, Fernanda Moraes 1986- 17 August 2018 (has links)

Um efeito discursivo / Abstract: How do social aspects signify and how are they constructed in the poetic materiality of cordel literature? How does the image of the speaker work in the Northeastern booklets? These were the two questions that guided this Master's degree research. To answer these questions, we selected booklets covering subjects such as urban violence, drug use, Northeastern migration, politics, prejudice, divorce, the use of birth control methods and land reform, among other social issues. During the creation of the corpus, we could notice a strong relationship between the subjects dealt with in cordel and what is shown in the media. In the analysis, we discuss the repetition in cordel of a social voice that is crossed by the voice of the media, but also by those of the State, the Church and the Family. This social voice circulates through the poetic materiality that makes up cordel, producing gestures of interpretation marked by the poetry of the language. The analysis shows that this voice is what allows certain social values and the established relationships repeated in the booklets. This is the voice of the ruling society, but, when it is taken over by cordel, it represents the voice of the people, making unity natural, as if the people were homogeneous. Constituting quivocality, as Pêcheux has taught us! This unity effect, in turn, produces the effect that the cordel author is a speaker for the people. La poética de los poetas populares chilenos

Román Montes de Oca, Domingo 02 March 2012 (has links)

Hersalek, Gloria. January 1997 (has links)
The thesis is a description and analysis of the oral style devices on four collections undertaken by G.Beutler, G. de Granda, F. Dougherty and G. Hersalek in Colombia. Themes and their transmitters are analysed. Oral features such as formulas, the uses of repetition and parallelism as well as variability are explored in individual chapters which are illustrated with Colombian texts. The thesis consists of an introduction to the theme of the Oral Spanish Balladry and its collections; a summarized description of the primary sources; an annotated transcription of our compilation of texts in the department of Boyaca and five chapters of analysis and description of oral style mechanisms. Charts showing the themes collected in Colombia and the number, gender and age of its repositories are included. Maps indicate the departments in Colombia where those themes were found. Graphs have the purpose to show a clearer perspective on the distribution of the Spanish Balladry in Colombia, thus, offering a guide for new researchers. This analysis shows that the Colombian transmitters have made use both of the oral style devices inherited from Spain as well as their own initiative that has produced innovations at different levels in this tradition. / Thesis (Ph.D.)-University of Natal, Durban, 1997.

Orality, textuality and history : issues in South African oral poetry and performance.

Brown, Duncan John Bruce. January 1995 (has links)
A vigorous oral tradition has existed throughout South African history, and in many ways represents our truly original contribution to world literature. Despite this, oral literature is largely absent from accounts of literary history in this country. While the particular oppressions of South African political life have contributed to the exclusion of oral forms, the suppression of the oral in favour of the printed text is a feature of literary studies worldwide, and appears to be related to the critical practices that have been dominant in universities and schools for most of this century. In this study I consider ways of recovering oral forms for literary debate, and offer what I consider to be more appropriate strategies of 'reading'. My aim is to re-establish a line of continuity in South African poetry and performance from the songs and stories of the Bushmen, through the praise poems of the African chiefdoms, to the development of Christianised oral forms, the adaptation of the oral tradition in 'Soweto' poetry of the 1970s, and the performance of poems on political platforms in the 1980s. Recovering oral poetry and performance genres for literary debate requires the development of an appropriate critical methodology. Through a consideration of advances in the study of orality, I aim to suggest ways of reading which grant credence to the specific strategies and performative energies of oral texts while locating the texts in the spaces and constrictions of their societies. A great many oral texts from the past survive only in printed, translated forms, however, and a key aspect of such a critical project is how - while acknowledging the particular difficulties involved - one 'uses' highly mediated and artificially stabilised print versions to suggest something of the dynamic nature of oral performance in South African historical and social life. This thesis also considers how texts address us across historical distances. I argue for maintaining a dialectic between the 'past significance' and 'present meaning' of the poems, songs and stories: for allowing the past to shape our reading while we remain aware that our recuperation of history is inevitably directed by present needs and ideologies. These ideas are explored through five chapters which consider, respectively, the songs and stories of the nineteenth-century /Xam Bushmen, the izibongo of Shaka, the hymns of the Messianic Zulu evangelist Isaiah Shembe, Ingoapele Madingoane's epic 'Soweto' poem "black trial", and the performance poetry of Mzwakhe Mbuli and Alfred Qabula in the 1980s. / Thesis (M.A.)-University of Natal, Durban, 1995.

Sebola, Moffat January 2019 (has links)
Thesis (M. A. (African Languages)) -- University of Limpopo, 2019 / The study analyses N.A. Milubi’s Tshivenḓa poetry. N.A. Milubi is one of the prominent Tshivenḓa modern poets. The study selected N.A. Milubi’s poems from the books he published as an individual as well as from the poetry anthologies in which he contributed his poetry. The publications that are analysed in this study are: Muhumbuli-Mutambuli (1981), Vhuṱungu ha Vhupfa (1982) Ipfi ḽa Lurere, Muimawoga (1990), Muungo wa Vhuhwi (1995) and Khavhu dza Muhumbulo (2001). The study is based on the New Criticism theory where both the form and meaning of the poem are analysed. The New Criticism theory emphasises a close reading of the text as a significant factor that determines or reflects the artistic and aesthetic value of a literary work. An appraisal for N.A. Milubi’s artistic prowess, in as far as Tshivenḓa poetry is concerned, is also provided in this study.
