Oliveira, Nayara Alves de 15 March 2017 (has links)
The major purpose of this dissertation is to analyse the insertion and practice of students and graduates on Pedagogy of the Universidade Federal de Sergipe (1968-1978) in the educational field in Sergipe. Another goal is to comprehend the opening of this academic field and its functioning and legitimation in the local sphere, and its contribution to the formation of teachers and Education specialists. For which it was donne a historical research based on bibliographic and documental analyses, both on the framework of the New History theoretical and methodological premises, more precisely of the new historiographic school named Cultural History. Besides, the study was oriented by the concept of field, capital and habitus, on Bourdieu’s account, and the concept of memory on Le Goff’s and Pollak’s account. According to the research, it is possible to conclude that the graduation on Pedagogy was among the courses authorized to be offered by the Faculdade Católica de Filosofia de Sergipe (FAFI), from 1951. However, the course had only been given to the public on 1968 after the inauguration of the Universidade Federal de Sergipe in 1967. The graduation course was opened by a determination of the civilmilitary government in order to inaugurate the Universidade Federal de Sergipe which required the FAFI’s fragmentation and the implementation of the Institute of Languages, Philosophy and Human Sciences and the Faculty of Education. After its implementation it was the most popular graduation course during the decades of 1960 and 1970 on the field of Education in the Universidade Federal de Sergipe. One of the reasons for it is associated to the national reformulation in 1969, which included the broadening of the field of expertise for educators by creating the habilitations: coordination, administration, supervision, and school inspection. Educators and specialists had worked in strategic functions of the educational field in this process, contributing to the modernization and expansion of teaching. In this sense, it is not possible to omit or deny the students’ and graduates’ contributions in the implementation of educational polices on the improvement of teaching, despite the fact that the course was implemented after an imposition of the civil-military government, and of the dominant interpretation of social and ideologic control as the main interest of the government.

Mobility, access to employment and relationships toward work. The case of young skilled migrants in urban villages in Beijing

Liu, Ziqin 28 November 2014 (has links)
This thesis is part of the broader issue of the transformation of the labor market in China over the past two decades and the place of young migrant workers in this process. In the context of economic transition, Chine has witnessed many important changes such as the phenomenon of urban labor market segmentation, the rise in unemployment and the massive creation of informal jobs, all leading to increased mobility in the working world, as seen particularly in the phenomenon of mass domestic migration. Migrant working youth – especially university graduates from a rural background (or smaller cities) who move to large cities - are being increasingly relegated to the urban areas of vulnerability (Robert Castel,1995) where different forms of precariousness (especially in terms of employment and housing) overlap and accumulate. China’s strong economic growth has given rise to inequalities that are multiplying and deepening at a dizzying rate. Upward mobility seems broken as feeling of injustice is rising. This migration phenomenon, a simultaneous transformation of the labor market and urban restructuring, is the focus of our study. We shall examine the case of young skilled migrants living in urban villages in Beijing, analytical figures of metamorphosis in progress. This research was conducted between 2011 and 2012 in an urban village in Beijing. The subjects had between 2 and 8 years of professional experience and lived in urban villages in Beijing at the time of the survey. This research is based on empirical data collected and analyzed using various methods. Our fieldwork in China enabled us to distribute180 questionnaires (quantitative data), 60 biographical interviews (qualitative material) as well as an ethnographic observation in an urban village. This study aims to investigate, in terms of careers, the process of professional integration and the experience of migration of graduates by looking at structural factors (employment policy, migration policy, networks, etc.), and the narrative pattern used by young people to relate their journey, in order to highlight the mechanisms that produce inequalities and construct social identities underlying the changes being observed in China. Our study has three objectives. The first is to understand both the different positions and statuses held and the way in which young people interpret their journey from their perspective, the positions they hold and the strategies they adapt. The second objective is to demonstrate how their objective and subjective identities interact and are redefined, as well as how their relationships toward work are formed. Thirdly, the goal is to articulate the issue of professional integration and its relationship to physical space, in a context where mobility is becoming a social norm in both the working world and the management of migration (Hélène Pellerin 2011).

The transition of Rhodes University graduates into the South African labour market : a case study of the 2010 cohort

Ntikinca, Kanyiso Lungani January 2015 (has links)
Recent studies have shown that graduates from historically White universities (HWUs) experience better labour market outcomes than graduates from historically Black universities (HBUs). This is a result of the legacy of apartheid which promoted racial inequality in all spheres of South African society, more especially in higher education and the labour market. Post-1994, government dedicated large amounts for the restructuring of the higher education sector of South Africa in order to level out the playing field. However, graduates from HWUs still experience better labour market success than graduates from HBUs. That said, there is limited information about the labour market outcomes and experiences of graduates from a former White university (especially graduates from Rhodes University). Therefore, the central aim of this dissertation is to show that graduates from a historically White university (Rhodes University) experience varying and unequal outcomes in the South African labour market on account of (among other factors) their chosen fields of study, race and sex. This study is informed by the heterodox labour market approach, which is partly inspired by the critical realist account of the labour market. As a result, this theoretical framework allowed the researcher to use the Labour Market Segmentation (LMS) theory as a tool to inform this analysis. The study has adopted a quantitative survey design and has incorporated some of the key methodological lessons learned from the collection of international graduate tracer studies. The findings from this study indicated that ‘field of study’ is a strong determiner of the outcomes of Rhodes graduates in the labour market. This was visible in the persistence of a skills bias towards commerce and science graduates. Evidently, even when we controlled for race and sex, graduates from the commerce and science faculties experience better labour market outcomes than humanities graduates. This is a result of a skills biased South African economy, which has a higher demand for certain skills over others. However, the findings from this study also show evidence of pre-labour market discrimination and inequality (based on race and sex) in the supply-side institutions such as the family, schooling and university. The findings also show continuities and discontinuities of labour market discrimination (based on race and sex) in the outcomes of Rhodes graduates in the South African labour market. More importantly, this dissertation indicates that Rhodes graduates experience varying outcomes in the labour market as a result of (among other factors) their chosen fields of study, race and sex.

Représentation sociale de la réussite de la mobilité internationale : le cas des jeunes diplômés marocains formés à l’étranger / Social representation of the success of international mobility : For young Moroccan graduates trained abroad

Yaou, Abdelkarim 14 December 2013 (has links)
The magnitude of the return of young Moroccan graduates trained and scarce scientific contributions remain the main catalyst to adventurer in this research process. In this perspective, we opted for a study focusing on the success of the international mobility of young Moroccan graduates trained through social representations. Its challenge to enrich advanced research on international mobility and to provide practical and tangible answers to the many questions that arise in the business world. Our initial question consists of two main components. The first is interested in understanding the content of the social representation of the success of the international mobility of our study population. The second proposes to determine the variables that explain this success. To address the issue of such research, we divided the study into two parts. The first illuminates the theories and concepts inspired from various disciplines. It deals later, the formulation of hypotheses and the presentation of the research model. The second part highlights the empirical knowledge through two field studies. First, we conducted a qualitative study of thirty-two companies and consultants working in the business world leaders in Morocco. Second, we conducted a quantitative study for young Moroccan graduates trained. Ultimately, we got two hundred ninety-six responses to our questionnaire. The results of our research provide various managerial implications, especially in terms of understanding the essence of successful graduates trained and determination of the most significant factors behind this success.

TechnillionJobs : A digital platform for unemployed graduates / TechnillionJobs : En digital plattform för arbetslösa akademiker

Amer Al-Taie, Ziad January 2021 (has links)
TechnillionJobs is a solution consists of a digital web application, mobile App and a start-up. The solution is intended for helping unemployed Iraqi graduates & students at the final stages of their university studies network with employers locally and internationally. TechnillionJobs can give a bigger opportunity to easier find jobs/build a professional career, and therefore can be a contributing solution in reducing unemployment among graduates in Iraq. The purpose of the project is mainly to investigate and identify the reasons behind unemployment amongst Iraqi graduates as well as present a solution to reduce this problem and its negative effects. Also, to explore potential target groups, their needs and requirements for the product. The primary target groups were categorized as unemployed Iraqi graduates who can provide their knowledge and skills online, innovative companies who put a huge emphasis on their R&D department and educational companies that provide online courses & lesson plans. Primarily, the project group wanted to develop a concept that would respond to the problem statement by “only” launching a web application which in later development phases expanded to even a mobile App and start-up to provide real time services and offer On-demand Contracts (Explained in The Final Product section of this report) as well. In order to do a solid research in the problem area and come up with possible solutions and perform analysis, different scientific frameworks, methodologies and project tools such as Design Thinking, Agile methodology, Gantt-chart, Surveys and mini-risk calculation were used to make sure that the project execution follows a scientific structure. An overall timeline from the start of the project to the end is presented as well. The group has carried out this project in an iterative way where the user has always been in focus during a long dynamic development process. The opportunities for further development are many and, in the future, the product will be a more complete tool for connecting graduates with employers. Future business plans and goals are clarified in the Discussion section of this report.
