Der pastorale Leiter als Prophet : Der Baptistenpastor Arnold Köster (1896–1960) im Widerstand gegen den Nationalsozialismus / The pastoral leader as a prophet : the Baptist pastor Arnold Köster (1896-1960) in opposition to the NazisClaesberg, Veit 07 1900 (has links)
Summaries in German and English / Diese Arbeit handelt über das Leben und Leitungshandeln des Baptistenpredigers Arnold Köster
kirchlich-prophetischen Widerstand leistete.
Schließlich wird herausgearbeitet, was heutige Leiter von Köster lernen können / This thesis is about the life and leadership of the Baptist preacher Arnold Köster (1896–1960).
He is considered one of the sharpest and steadiest NS critics in the Third Reich. During the
Third Reich he prophetically proclaimed the word of God while leading his church in Vienna
and, at the same time, questioning the Nazi regime.
The work contains a complete account of Köster’s leadership. It presents, for the first time
ever, an overall picture of Köster’s understanding of prophecy and discusses more recent
models of prophetic-pastoral leadership. Based on quotations from his sermons, it becomes
clear that Köster assigned the prophetic office to the entire congregation, but rejected the term
“prophet” for himself (Köster’s paradox).
The emphasis here is on Köster in the context of the German Baptist Union and its conduct
during the Nazi era. By way of contrast, it is clear that Köster, along with his local fellowship,
put up resistance on the subject of church-prophecy.
Finally, with the matter of what today’s leaders can learn from Köster is addressed / Philosophy, Practical and Systematic Theology / M. Th. (Christian Leadership)

Gemeindeaufbau und -Wachstum bei den Russlanddeutschen evangelikalen Christen in Deutschland inmitten der Spannung von Einwanderung und Integration / Church planting and church growth among evangelical Russian German Christians in Germany in the tension between immigration and integrationKlassen, John Niebuhr 11 1900 (has links)
The thesis is an ecclesio-missiological study of a migrant group of more than a quarter of a million Russian Germans, by tradition free church evangelicals. Beginning in 1963, they migrated from the former Soviet Union as 'Aussiedler' (re-settlers) to the Federal Republic of Germany.
The resettling - agreed upon by both states - was a program of re-uniting
families that had been separated during the Second World War. Ethnically, part of a larger group of 1,900.000 German people who, after exhausting but determined efforts, were permitted to leave for Germany. Here being welcomed and given generous material and social support.
As no statistics about evangelical free church family immigrants are recorded, the first aim of the research was to establish their numerical size. The result:: By 1998 some 270,000 family members of this confession had entered Germany. Of these about 55,000 were adult Christian believers who had become members of a Baptist or a Mennonite Church. The rest were minors or adults with no confession of faith to date.
In the country of their forbears many of the 'Aussiedler' realised: ,,We are
strangers in our homeland. If we do not want to remain strangers, we need to adjust culturally, socially and religiously". Initially many resisted change. Change in to religious customs was particularly difficult. As a result, many did not join existing churches but established new congregations where they could practice their faith in the traditions familiar to them.
Since the new 'Aussiedler' churches have been growing at an above average growth rate, the second goal was to investigate the reasons for this phenomenon. How much growth was by immigrantion? How much by
conversion and baptism? It was found that of the ca. 62,000 members in the Aussiedler congregations (1998) ca. 24,500 had joined through baptism. The others had come in by immigration.
A third area of discussion related to the question: In how far can immigrant Christians retain their own culture and still be faithful to their missionary calling? / Christian Spirituality, Church History and Missiology / D.Th. (Missiology)

The politics of memory: the role of the children of Holocaust survivorsLurie, Liane Natalie 01 1900 (has links)
The Holocaust represented humanities first confrontation with unparalleled destruction and evil unchecked. It continues to impact upon the lives of survivors, their children- the second generation- and generations thereafter. The study aimed to provide the second generation with a voice. Their roles within their respective family systems and the impact of the Holocaust upon them are explored.
The theoretical framework is social constructionism. One-on-one in-depth interviews were conducted with three adults whose parent/s are survivors. The manner of analysis was `Hermeneutic.'
The participants' narratives took the form of interview transcripts. These were analysed and themed by the researcher. Themes that repeated themselves were elaborated upon and later linked with the available literature.
The researcher hopes that the dissertation will contribute to existing research on the multigenerational effects of trauma in relation to familial and individual roles and memory. / Psychology / M. A. (Clinical Psychology)

Conquering the Natural Frontier: French Expansion to the Rhine River During the War of the First Coalition, 1792-1797Hayworth, Jordan R. 12 1900 (has links)
After conquering Belgium and the Rhineland in 1794, the French Army of the Sambre and Meuse faced severe logistical, disciplinary, and morale problems that signaled the erosion of its capabilities. The army’s degeneration resulted from a revolution in French foreign policy designed to conquer the natural frontiers, a policy often falsely portrayed as a diplomatic tradition of the French monarchy. In fact, the natural frontiers policy – expansion to the Rhine, the Pyrenees, and the Alps – emerged only after the start of the War of the First Coalition in 1792. Moreover, the pursuit of natural frontiers caused more controversy than previously understood. No less a figure than Lazare Carnot – the Organizer of Victory – viewed French expansion to the Rhine as impractical and likely to perpetuate war. While the war of conquest provided the French state with the resources to survive, it entailed numerous unforeseen consequences. Most notably, the Revolutionary armies became isolated from the nation and displayed more loyalty to their commanders than to the civilian authorities. In 1797, the Sambre and Meuse Army became a political tool of General Lazare Hoche, who sought control over the Rhineland by supporting the creation of a Cisrhenan Republic. Ultimately, troops from Hoche’s army removed Carnot from the French Directory in the coup d’état of 18 fructidor, a crucial benchmark in the militarization of French politics two years before Napoleon Bonaparte’s seizure of power. Accordingly, the conquest of the Rhine frontier contributed to the erosion of democratic governance in Revolutionary France.

Prophetisches Reden und Evangelisation: eine missiologische Untersuchung der über Berlin ausgesprochenen Prophetien (1980-2000) / Prophecy and evangelisation : a missiological study of prophecies regarding Berlin (1980-2000)Heim, Detlef Peter 31 October 2002 (has links)

The concern of this study is to analyse the prophecies spoken out for Berlin between the years

one another and were analysed regarding their mission-theologicai relevance. A questioning
of few leaders of charismatic-embossed churches of Berlin gives the practical part of the
study (the theoretical part see chapter two, the results see chapter three).

Lobpreis- und Anbetungslieder: eine kritisch-wurdigende Analyse der aktuellen Hillsong-Lieder / Praise and worship songs: a critical analysis of popular Hillsong songsEhlebracht, Simon 10 1900 (has links)
The master thesis examines the 20 most played Hillsong songs from 2016 in Germany. Aspects examined are the main themes of the lyrics, the singer-/ addressee perspective, the classification into the biblical narrative as well as the functions of the songs within the worship service. Based on these aspects, the criticism directed at the songs is met. Criticized are, among other things, the theological lack of substance of the songs, the distorted image of God, missing topics like suffering, lamentation, social justice or the focus on the individual instead of God. The work proves that the criticism of lack of content is justified. In addition, the songs communicate a one-sided image of God that strongly focuses on Jesus as an addressee. It shows that the issues of suffering, lamentation and social justice are nderrepresented. On the grammatical level, the songs have a strong focus on the individual. Examining the functions, however, shows that most of the songs, despite a first-person perspective, are strongly community-building. This is mainly due to the koinonial function and the combinations of diaconal and pastoral function of some songs. In addition to these functions, the songs often take on the kerygmatic,
missionary and pedagogical function. / Practical Theology / M. Th. (Practical Theology)
