Den gröna lögnen : Att informera konsumenter om greenwashing och dess konsekvenser / The Green Lie : Informing consumers about greenwashing and its consequences

Eriksson, Ida January 2021 (has links)
While the climate crisis has been an increasing problem, more and more companies have realised just how profitable green marketing is. Along this growing trend comes the risk of misleading consumers with vague or false environmental claims - called greenwashing. This type of misleading marketing has been refined over many years and is quite difficult for the average consumer to detect. This thesis aims to explore greenwashing and its consequences and thereafter inform consumers of this complex problem. The idea is also to look at the connection between green advertising and graphic design in order to pinpoint the responsibility of the design industry when it comes to the creation of greenwashing. The intention of this project is to find an aid that can inform the average consumer and give them the opportunity to oppose greenwashing.

Kära vän : personlig kommunikation i en allt mer digitaliserad värld

Lefvert Vikström, Maria, Söderberg, Maria January 2021 (has links)
Digital communication has increased drastically during the past year. An entire world has been affected. Digital tools and platforms have been crucial for a functioning society and for us to be able to keep in touch with other people. In this thesis, we wanted to explore analog commu- nication through graphic design and highlight what role it plays today. There is something beautiful inthe meeting between paper and pencil. Something personal that might be lost when messages are digi- tized. On paper, we can write down our innermost thoughts, to ourselves or to someone close to us. The paper can also be used when we doodle, sketch, paint or when we in other ways add a personal touch. We see this as a way of crafting and craftsmanship is our common thread. With our project, we want to shed light on traditional crafts and encourage personal communication.

Adoption of AI in Digital Design : A qualitative study about the effects on the profession

Edberg, Emelie, Beck, Lea January 2020 (has links)
The development of new technology plays a major role in today's society and several different industries. While some technologies have more or less an impact upon the whole working sector, one of the more recent and controversial technologies is Artificial Intelligence (AI). In recent years, this technology has evolved continuously and is spreading across several different industries. As it is clear that AI is reshaping the workplace, it is relevant to examine how and to what extent it is affecting the digital design profession. Purpose The purpose of this study is to gain insight into the current state of adoption of AI within digital design, including graphic design and web design. Furthermore, to explore the effects of AI on the nature of the profession, from the perspectives of professionals in the industry. While focusing on the creative process and the development of digital products, it investigates how the industry is experiencing the effects of AI in daily tasks and workflows. Furthermore, it examines if the implementation of AI has lead to the development of new work processes, or if traditional tasks remain but are carried out with AI tools as assistance. Method The research method is qualitative. Through literature reviews and by carrying out interviews with relevant designers currently working in the industry, the appropriate data is collected and analyzed. The interviews focus on understanding the participant’s perspective on the topic, their experiences of AI and what effect it has on their work. Through the interviews, the study identifies to what extent AI is used in creative processes, and sheds light on the general feelings towards AI, including expectations and concerns. Conclusions The findings show that the overall awareness surrounding AI is rather divided. AI is already implemented in various design processes and software, whether the designer is aware of it or not. It can thus be concluded that AI has affected the nature of the digital design profession. However, the effects vary depending on the specific role and the related tasks. Most are interested in learning more about it but natural skepticism and lack of knowledge about the technology remain an obstacle for implementing more AI in companies.

Typologie totalitního umění / Typology of totalitarian art

Janská, Lenka January 2015 (has links)
The dissertation work deals with the organization of artistic life in the context of totalitarian regimes and its reflection in the Czech lands with the attention to fine arts education. It defines two types of artistic education - academic and modernistic. Significant interest is modern art infiltration into a cultural field in connection with social changes of interwar Russia and Italy. Historical research, Pierre Bourdieu's analytical approaches, analysis of Czechoslovak cultural, fine art and fine art pedagogically oriented magazines printed between 1919 - 1939 are the methods used for searching information. In terms of possibilities in Russia the biggest independence appeared in graphic design as means of modern visualization. However, the artists reached the position in the artistic field and following token power by taking social posts, especially teaching jobs, and often at the expense of their own espression. Italian authors voluntarily adapted their modernist creation to political development. Forms of their styles were much wider. The avantgarde quite smoothly managed to integrate into official culture. The most significant examle is aeropittura, which encouraged the cult of modern technologies and military power of fascistic Italy, and also which fluently continued in futuristic basis....

Algoritmizovaný grafický design / Algorithm driven graphic design

Kabilka, Richard January 2020 (has links)
The diploma thesis inquires into the use of A.I. - artificial intelligence in the field of graphic design. This thesis aims to describe the current state of A.I. use and algorithmization in graphic design and, based on the conducted study, to evaluate the potential of this type of tool and possible impacts on graphic design. The theoretical section will introduce basic principles and concepts of graphic design and its relationship with art and technology, based on professional literature and current research. Furthermore, it will describe the current possibilities and specializations of artificial intelligence. Findings from these two chapters will serve as a framework for critical evaluation of the currently available A.I. driven tools for graphic design. In the research section, a quantitative study utilizing a questionnaire will be conducted among the professional public and examine the opinions and experiences of Czech graphic designers with tools for design automatization. Its results will be used to test the formulated hypotheses utilizing appropriate statistical methods.

Brämming, Lovisa, Lindström, Fredrik January 2020 (has links)
The field of graphic design is an essential part of the contemporary media and communication  landscape, not least as a result of  digitalization where visual content plays a more important role than ever before. Although influential, little research has been conducted in regards to graphic design. The thesis concerns the field of graphic design in Stockholm and poses two research questions. First, which social dynamics and unwritten rules are possible to discern from the graphic design field of Stockholm? Second, what does the interplay between an agent's position in the field and his/hers individual opinion concerning good graphic design look like?  The theoretical framework is centered around Pierre Bourdieu's field theory and its core concepts such as fields, capital, habitus and doxa. These are fundamental cornerstones for the thesis as a whole and used as an analytical framework. Furthermore, six qualitative semi-structured interviews with different actors from within the field were conducted and later analyzed using qualitative content analysis. The results concluded that there are social dynamics and unwritten rules within the graphic design field of Stockholm concerning; talent, education, social climate, norms and values, visual guidelines and the purpose of graphic design. Moreover, all actors agree on one basic premise – if something is to be considered good graphic design it has to fulfill the basic purpose of graphic design. However, when it comes to how that premise is fulfilled, there is a clear interplay between an agent's position in the field and their opinion.

ME/CFS / Respectful design: For increased understanding and willingness to change : FUCK ME, an exhibition on the severe disease ME/CFS

Sandberg, Emma January 2020 (has links)
In this essay, I go through the different parts that compile my degree project. I have explored the power of graphic design for educational purposes. During my process, I have found a new area of graphic design, respectful design. Something that can be briefly described as design created with the greatest reverence for conveying a difficult subject without diminishing the affected person behind. An approach where one works closely with the involved and frequently checks in, so that nothing is portrayed incorrectly. This along with the constant search for information makes up the basics of respectful design. The disease ME has finally begun to be talked about in society. But the way the disease is portrayed can be argued as incorrect in relation to the bigger picture. As a graphic designer I have analyzed the problem and worked out a possible solution. My conclusion is that strong colors mixed with melancholy and straightforward information can make the subject less heavy and easier to handle. This can open the senses to problem solving and understanding instead of stopping at pity. The aim of the project has been to get away from these dark quilts that the media has placed on us. The goal was to create something that does not hide the awfulness of the disease but informs in a more fun and more inviting way. I strongly believe that graphic design can reduce the social stigma around a topic if done properly. When life is the toughest it has helped me and (after the response of the exhibition) others to learn more about our disease. Above all, if more people know more about the disease, ME- patients will get help. Hopefully society will open it’s arms so that no more people are forced to choose suicide.

Typsnittsfamiljen Kiruna

Nilsson, Agnes January 2022 (has links)
When you think about a city that you might know more or less ab- out, it is common that your idea of that place might be coloured by preconceptions or prejudice. Perhaps that is due to the fact that you have been told things about the place, or perhaps how it is portrayed by the media. These ideas are, though, rarely ones that includes the whole truth about a place, though. Or even a fraction of the truth. I have experienced this being the case when it comes to Kiruna. Kiruna is a city that many believe to be cold, barren and lonely. This idea is probably based on both its geographical location and the fact that the city’s biggest employer is one of the worlds largest underground mines.  In this project I have examined Kiruna through type design, in order to give people a wider and more comprehensice image of what the city is. The goal has been to show the viewer that I have created an image of a place that moves beyond prejudice and gives them insight and understanding of Kiruna in more than that one way.
