[en] COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES AND MULTI-TERRITORIALIZATION ON TRICONTINENTAL MAGAZINE S GRAPHIC DESIGN (1967-1969) / [pt] ESTRATÉGIAS DE COMUNICABILIDADE E MULTITERRITORIALIZAÇÃO NO DESIGN GRÁFICO DA REVISTA TRICONTINENTAL (1967-1969)MURILO JESUS HAITHER DE SOUZA 01 October 2020 (has links)
[en] This master thesis presents a study on the graphic content present in the journal Tricontinental – the main publication of the Organization of Solidarity with the Peoples of Africa, Asia and Latin America (Ospaaal), based in Cuba – between 1967 and 1969. The journal contained information and theoretical content about what was understood as the Third World and, although the texts came from authors of various nationalities, the graphic content was elaborated by an Ospaaal department whose designers were mostly Cubans. This research aims to identify and analyze the mediations made by tricontinental designers to address and, at certain times, broaden the debates present in the journal, as well as analyze the communication strategies made to mobilize a common identity among the peoples of Africa, Asia and Latin America. The study of this material allows the expansion of the debate about Ospaaal and its approach to communicate visually with the readers of its journal, in addition to shedding light on the cultural scene of Cuba, especially the movimiento afichista of the Caribbean island and the production of graphic design in this country.

Numerous facets of society have undergone major change as a result of the quick development of technology. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has established itself as a particularly remarkable and controversial breakthrough among the countless technical advancements, and is influencing numerous different industries. Given its transformational potential, it is critical to investigate how AI is affecting the digital design profession. The research aims to discover how the digital design profession is influenced by the adoption of AI from the perspectives of industry professionals. Thus, the research explores factors such as current knowledge and usage of AI, experience with significant changes in work practices, and attitudes towards the use of AI-tools. This study is being conducted using a qualitative research methodology. Interviews with relevant designers working in the sector and literature reviews are part of the process. Important information is gathered during these interviews, which is then analysed. The major goals of the interviews are to understand the participants' perspectives on the matter, learn about their AI experiences, and determine how AI isaffecting their work practices. The study sheds light on the overall attitudes regarding AI, encompassing expectations and concerns, by assessing the manner in which AI is used in creative processes. The research's conclusions show that different respondents have various viewpoints and awareness about AI. Regardless of designers' explicit acknowledgement, AI has already found its way into different design processes and tools. As a result, it can be said that AI has had an more or less impact on the digital design industry and certain fields of work practices. However, depending on the various roles and tasks involved, various implications apply. While the majority of professionals exhibit a strong desire to explore and utilize AI, naturally occurring scepticism and a lack of knowledge might prevent its general acceptance and adoption.

Klimatkrisen i tre illustrerade barnböcker : En studie i hur tre illustrerade barnböcker kommunicerar med barn om klimatet / The climate crisisi in illustrated children's books : A study of how three illustrated children's books communicate with children about climate crisisAhnlide, Alma January 2023 (has links)
This study aims to investigate strategies for discussing and communicating the climate crisis to children using illustrations and other visual elements in children's books. Children worry about the climate, are consumers themselves, have opportunities to influence and children are future decision makers. Illustrated children's books are important for informing and engaging children in the climate issue. A total of nine illustrations in three children's books available in Swedish bookstores have been analyzed through semiotic analysis. They differ both in terms of how healthy and diseased nature is portrayed, who bears the responsibility for change, what needs to be done. Commitment to the climate issue is achieved through understanding that there are things that are important to preserve and that there is an opportunity to influence. Further studies are needed to analyze how best to communicate the climate issue with children.

Don’t be an asshole brewery : Ett normkreativt examensarbete inom grafisk designZätterqvist, Sofie January 2022 (has links)
Most men are for equality, most men are against violence and most men do absolutely nothing for equality. "Oh but you can’t write that then you just might lose their interest" that was what a friend warned me about, that you men would be scared, feel attacked or get angry. But this thesis is not meant to be comfortable, it is meant to create reaction, involvement and discussion between men. The project aims to investigate how graphic design can be a contributing factor to one's own involvement in equality. The concept Don't be an asshole brewery is the result of this study, a non-alcoholic brewery that challenges today's image of masculinity.

It’s hard not to compare yourself with others and that is something I and many others struggle with. We live in a time of constant connection with the outside world and we often encounter different standards such as body or beauty ideals. “As i am” is a method book that is designed to strengthen your self-esteem and provide tools to be able to see yourself from a positive perspective. The benefit of working with yourself from the inside is that it eventually changes the way we choose to see ourselves. What we previously saw as different can instead be lifted as strengths and something that makes us unique. Don’t forget that you are perfect exactly as you are.
