This work is a comprehensive sociological study on travelogues, specifically with focus on the Iran’s 19th century history (Qajar Dynasty). It presents an analysis that sociologically and systematically registers the staging of cultural boundaries and the socio-historical construction of foreignness in the Iranian society, on the basis of selected Persian travel literature. This study has tried to show that cultural and social boundaries are relational and historical constructs which, in case of Iran, are dramatically affected by the encounters of Iranians (statesmen, students, tourists, etc.) with western countries (Western Europe and Russia).

Die Selbstkonstruktion Des Fiktiven Serienmörders Als Grundlage Der Narratologischen Grenzsetzung- Und ÜberschreitungAsmuss, Johanna 15 April 2010 (has links)

O desdobramento do conceito kantiano de comunidade ética : união moral, legislação divina e igreja / Unfolding of the Kantian concept of ethical community: moral union, divine legislation and churchPinheiro, Letícia Machado January 2012 (has links)
This thesis aims at investigating the concept of ethical community, topic developed by Kant in the third part of the work Religion within the boundaries of mere reason. Such an investigation is directed towards approaching what we call the unfolding of the concept of ethical community. Kant, it must be said, does not use or point explicitly to something like a conceptual unfolding of the notion of ethical community. Indeed, his argumentation allows such an assessment to be drawn, since there is, related to the notion of ethical community, a visible overlap of definitions. Initially, ethical community is defined in terms of a union of men under laws of virtue. This basic definition is imposed in view of what Kant names as the ethical state of nature, a state of moral corruption which is presented under the jurisdiction of collectivity. Although this concept of ethical community (as a union under the laws of virtue) supplies the initial need of thinking about an antagonistic condition to the ethical state of nature, the concept, alone, does not sustain itself when Kant intends to give it more intelligibility. In view of the argumentative needs that are imposed, concerning clarity or completeness, Kant was led to deploy the initial notion of a union under the laws of virtue into two other domains. Thus, ethical community was also defined in terms of a people of God under the laws of virtue and, at last, in terms of a church. The unfolding of the concept of ethical community is not concerned with a negation of what had previously been defined, but with an aggregation of information or argumentative moments presented to better translate what Kant intended to make explicit when employing this notion. To sum up, the thesis, on the one hand, has the objective of reconstructing the unfolding of the concept of ethical community and, on the other hand, of identifying the argumentative needs which led Kant to add more stages of comprehension to this concept.

Two-dimensional conjugated metal–organic frameworks (2D c-MOFs): chemistry and function for MOFtronicsWang, Mingchao, Dong, Renhao, Feng, Xinliang 17 May 2024 (has links)
The 21st century has seen a reinvention of how modern electronics impact our daily lives; silicon-electronics and organic electronics are currently at the core of modern electronics. Recent advances have demonstrated that conductive metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), as another unique class of electronic materials, are emerging to provide additional possibility for multifunctional electronic devices that brings us “MOFtronics”. Typically, two-dimensional conjugated MOFs (2D c-MOFs) are a novel class of layer-stacked MOFs with in-plane extended π-conjugation that exhibit unique properties such as intrinsic porosity, crystallinity, stability, and electrical conductivity as well as tailorable band gaps. Benefiting from their unique features and high conductivity, 2D c-MOFs have displayed great potential for multiple high-performance (opto)electronic, magnetic, and energy devices. In this review article, we introduce the chemical and synthetic methodologies of 2D c-MOFs, intrinsic influences on their electronic structures and charge transport properties, as well as multifunctional applications of this class of materials for MOFtronics and potential power sources for MOFtronics. We highlight the benefits and limitations of thus-far developed 2D c-MOFs from synthesis to function and offer our perspectives in regard to the challenges to be addressed.

Interference in the Earth system through terrestrial carbon dioxide removalHeck, Vera 05 May 2017 (has links)
Terrestrial carbon dioxide removal (tCDR) via afforestation or biomass plantations are discussed as options to counteract anthropogenic global warming. Therefore, it is important to understand sustainability limits and implications of tCDR in the context of Earth system dynamics. This thesis provides a model based assessment of biogeochemical and hydrological side-effects of biomass plantations and afforestation in the context of planetary boundaries (PBs), delimiting a safe operating space for humanity. Simulations with a global vegetation model indicate considerable biogeochemical and hydrological consequences of biomass plantations which are even larger than those of historical agricultural land use. Further, land use scenarios of biomass plantations are developed with a multi-objective optimisation model considering the PBs for biogeochemical flows, biosphere integrity, land system change and freshwater use. Respecting PBs yields almost zero tCDR potential. The transgression of PBs into a zone of increasing risk of feedbacks at the planetary scale can provide considerable tCDR potentials of 1.4-6.9 GtC/a, depending on efficiency of biomass conversion and carbon capture and storage. The importance of co-evolutionary dynamics of the Earth''s carbon cycle and societal interventions through tCDR is demonstrated with a conceptual modelling approach in the context of carbon-related PBs. A focus on climate change without an integrated trade-off assessment may lead to navigating the Earth system out of the safe operating space due to collateral transgression of other PBs. Integrating population growth and food demand while minimising carbon and biodiversity loss demonstrates opportunities and limitations for tCDR. Substantial improvements of crop and livestock productivities and the displacement of agricultural production into regions of high productivity yield sustainable terrestrial carbon sequestration potentials of up to 98 GtC while feeding 9 billion people.

Kationen-Ordnung in ferri/ferromagnetischen perowskitischen Dünnfilmen / Cation ordering in ferri/ferromagnetic perovskite thin filmsHühn, Sebastian 27 May 2015 (has links)
