Fundação Carlos Chagas Filho de Amparo a Pesquisa do Estado do Rio de Janeiro / Este trabalho se propõe analisar a construção da obra de Alexandre Herculano como historiador, que teve início com a publicação de inúmeros artigos no jornal O Panorama e na Revista Universal Lisbonense. Nesses textos, procuramos perceber as reflexões iniciais que levaram a um projeto de maior fôlego intelectual, a História de Portugal, publicada em um momento de emergência das nacionalidades e da formação das consciências nacionais. Nesse sentido, procuramos perceber como Herculano concebeu a sua história analisando sua trajetória como historiador/político em meio às graduais transformações sociais que ocorriam em Portugal à sua época. Assim, propusemo-nos pensar o Alexandre Herculano político em constante diálogo com a conjuntura daquele período, tendo como referência a sua atuação social e a sua intervenção textual no processo então em curso. / This research proposes to analyze the construction of the work of Alexandre Herculano as a historian, which began with the publication of several articles in the journal O Panorama and in the Revista Universal Lisbonense. In these texts, we sought to detect the initial thoughts that led to a project with greater intellectual , the História de Portugal, published in a moment of emergence of the nationalities and formation of the national consciousness. In this sense, we aimed to understand how Herculano conceived his history by analyzing his trajectory as a historian/politician in the midst of the gradual social transformations taking place in Portugal at the time. This way, we proposed to think the politician Alexandre Herculano in constant dialog with the conjuncture of the period, having as references his social action and textual intervention in the process then under way.

O trabalho também inclui a análise da personagem agenciadora no exemplo específico e o caso sobre o processo de criação do museu de história natural e oficial e sobre a economia do café. O contexto econômico e da cultura material, nesse estudo do Museu Histórico e de Ordem geral, talvez guarde os aspectos do corpo material e os processos do colecionismo, da documentação de objetos e dos documentos. / The present thesis studies the contents of the development of the collections and the documentation on the museológica representation of the São Paulo West (São Paulo West, 1948-1958) in Brazil. The work also includes the analysis of the agent personality in the special example and the case on the creation process of the natural and official history museum and the coffee economy. Perhaps the economic and the material culture context, in this History Museum and general Order study, holds the aspects of the material body and the colecionismo processes, objects documentation and documents.

Orientador: Christina de Rezende Rubim / Banca: Regina Coeli Machado e Silva / Banca: Lídia Maria Viana Possas / Resumo: Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo principal fazer um levantamento historiográfico sobre a produção acadêmica auto-reflexiva da antropologia no Brasil, enfatizando-se as décadas de oitenta e noventa, partindo do pressuposto de que os referidos textos renovam a legitimação do campo da disciplina em nossa realidade específica. O pensamento antropológico no Brasil possui uma tradição de cerca de cem anos se tomarmos como ponto de partida a obra de Nina Rodrigues, e um pouco menos, se partirmos da institucionalização da disciplina em 1934 com a criação da Universidade de São Paulo e o curso de graduação em ciências sociais. No entanto é a partir de 1970 que as pesquisas ganham força e se diversificam tematicamente com a criação e reformulação dos programas de pós-graduação em antropologia social, representando as disputas internas nesta área, e nas décadas seguintes a problemática do pensar-se a si mesmo transforma-se, de forma efetiva e singular, em um interesse dos antropólogos brasileiros contribuindo significativamente para o enriquecimento do seu campo de atuação. / Abstract: This essay seeks the historiographer collecting about the self-reflexive academic production of anthropology in Brazil, emphasizing the '80s and '90s of 20ths, starting from the presupposition that the mentioned texts renew the discipline field's legitimation in our specific reality. The anthropological knowledge in Brazil has about a hundred years of tradition, if we take Nina Rodrigues' publication as a starting point, and not so far, if we starting from the institutionalization of the discipline in 1934 with the creation of the University of São Paulo and the Graduation Course of Social Science. However, the researches got strengths and thematically diversified from 1970 with the creation and reformulation of graduate programs in social anthropology, portraying the internal controversies in this area, and in the following decades the problematical of thinking by itself changes in an effective and singular way, due to Brazilian anthropologists' interest in contributing meaningfully to the enrichment of their field activity. / Mestre

Nas décadas de 1960 e 1970, os estudos sobre a economia antiga foram transformados pela crítica sistemática do emprego de noções econômicas formais a sociedades que não formularam elas mesmas um conceito de economia. Os debates acadêmicos que então se travaram, nos termos dos próprios debatedores, tiveram em Moses Finley (1912-1986) um protagonista. A partir de uma análise das concepções de história econômica esposadas por Finley, dos mecanismos de validação de tais concepções e da trajetória desse historiador, esta tese procura iluminar algumas das condições sociais e epistemológicas que tornaram possível a reconfiguração das percepções acadêmicas modernas sobre a vida econômica antiga e estabelecer o papel por ele desempenhado nesse processo. / This thesis examines the role played by Moses I. Finley (1912-1986) in the academic controversies about ancient Greek and Roman economic history in the second half of the twentieth century. During the 1960s and 1970s, the studies on the ancient economy were transformed by systematic criticism of the use of formal economic notions in the analysis of societies which had not themselves forged a concept of economy. Among those who got involved in these debates, it is believed that Finley was its protagonist. Based on an analysis of the views on economic history held by Finley, of the mechanisms of validation of these views and of his trajectory, I try to elucidate some aspects of the social and epistemological conditions that made the reconfiguration of modern academic perception of ancient economic life possible.

As estatísticas estão presentes em todos os campos do conhecimento humano, fazem parte de nosso cotidiano e influenciam nossa capacidade de posicionamento frente à realidade, tornando factíveis, por meio de quantificações, noções de sentido muitas vezes abstratas. As pesquisas, quando publicadas na imprensa escrita, tornam-se instrumentos incontestáveis de análise de fatos econômicos, sociais, políticos e de opinião. Procura-se investigar neste trabalho a implicação desse fator para a formação de nossa noção de realidade e suas decorrências para a escrita da História. O objetivo é analisar em que circunstâncias ocorreram o aumento na publicação de pesquisas entre os anos de 1985 e 2000. O objeto de estudo é a divulgação da Pesquisa de Emprego e Desemprego da Fundação SEADE/DIEESE em dois jornais paulistanos. A hipótese central é a de que o jornalismo impresso diário passou, durante o período considerado, por mudanças contínuas nas quais o uso das pesquisas e assertivas numéricas atuou em legitimação das transformações de cunho liberal ocorridas na política e na economia mundial, tornando as informações mais racionais e mais compreensíveis para o leitor. As principais questões teóricas tratam de transpor a noção de habitus em Pierre Bourdieu para a função das estatísticas como uma forma de controle das transformações nas sociedades contemporâneas e como normalização útil ao exercício do poder conforme alguns dos conceitos presentes na obra de Michel Foucault. / Statistics are present in every single field of human knowledge, they are a part of our everyday lives and they influence our capacity of taking a stand for reality, making practicable, through a series of quantifications, notions of sense which are often abstract. When published, researches become undisputable tools of analysis of economical, social, and political facts, as well as facts of opinion. In this work we intend to investigate the implications of this factor regarding to the formation of our notion of reality and its consquencies in the writing of History. Our main purpose is to analyse the circumstancies in which occurred the increase of the publication of researches between 1985 and 2000. The object of study is the divulgation of Research of Employment and Unemployment, a document by Fundação SEADE/DIEESE in two newspapers of the city of São Paulo. The pivotal hypothesis is that the daily printed journalism has passed, during the period here considered, through continuous changes in which the use of researches and numerical assertions acted in order to legitimate the liberal transformations in the worldwide politics and economics, which in turn made the informations more rational and more comprehensible to the readers. The main theoretical questions deal with the transposition of Pierre Bourdieus notion of habitus into the function of the statistics as a form of control of the transformations in contemporary societies and as a useful normalization to the exercise of power according to some of the concepts present in the work of Michel Foucault.

Esta tese traz uma análise da perspectiva africana na coleção História Geral da África (UNESCO). Para isto, baseia-se no exame da história institucional do projeto que lhe originou e da escrita da história ali presente, em seus oito volumes. Tais considerações levaram a definição da perspectiva africana como uma perspectiva que privilegia os fatores internos ao continente, em oposição aos externos, na explicação histórica, científica, da África. Ademais, constatou-se que esta perspectiva se diversifica, na História Geral da África (HGA), em três abordagens complementares da história da África: a) regionalismo; b) difusionismo intra-africano; c) sujeito africano. A partir de tal investigação, reflete-se sobre algumas consequências teóricas e metodológicas que tal perspectiva africana traz para uma visão científica contemporânea e tendencialmente pós-eurocêntrica da história da África. / This thesis presents an analysis of the African perspective in the project General History of Africa (UNESCO). It examines the institutional history of the project and the writing of history in this collection of eight volumes. Such considerations have led to the definition of the African perspective as a perspective that focuses on the internal factors of the continent, as opposed to external ones, in its scientific explanation of Africa history. In addition, this study concluded that this perspective unfolds into three complementary approaches of the General History of Africa (GHA): a) regionalism b) intra-African diffusionism c) African subject. This analysis provides the basis for a discussion on some theoretical and methodological outcomes that such an African perspective brings to a scientific view on the history of Africa that is contemporary and potentially post-Eurocentric.

Nosso objeto de pesquisa é a Revista do Arquivo Municipal de São Paulo, publicação que esteve veiculada a vários órgãos da municipalidade desde sua criação e foi utilizada no período estudado, entre 1934 e 1950, como espaço de publicação científica e cultural de um grupo de intelectuais no momento de préprofissionalização e definição dos campos de conhecimento. Através da proposta de desenvolvimento de uma metodologia de pesquisa voltada para uma análise de periódico - no caso uma revista que ainda não recebeu tal tratamento por ser considerada de menor importância - e acompanhando as mudanças institucionais e editoriais, pudemos perceber certas tensões, conflitos, aproximações e distanciamentos entre os campos do conhecimento durante os anos acima indicados. Algumas das características percebidas se pulverizaram ao longo dos anos, outras ainda são perceptíveis atualmente no relacionamento entre as áreas do conhecimento. / This research reports on a study about the Review of the Municipal Archive of São Paulo, publication that was propagated to some agencies of the municipality since its creation and was used in the studied period between 1934 and 1950, as scientific and cultural publication space of a group of intellectuals at the moment of daily before professionalization and definition of the knowledge fields. Through the proposal of development of a methodology of research directed toward an analysis of periodic - in the case a magazine that do not received such treatment and it is not considered so importance - and following the institutional and publishing changes, we could perceive certain tensions, conflicts, approaches and the distance among the fields of the knowledge during the years above indicated. Some of the perceived characteristics if had sprayed throughout the years, others are still perceivable in the relation among the areas of the knowledge

Alexandre Herculano é considerado um dos introdutores e um dos maiores expoentes do Romantismo em Portugal. Sua obra, fragmentada por produções jornalísticas, literárias e historiográficas, e demonstrando uma grande unidade, soube aliar uma ampla tradição de investigação sobre os problemas políticos, sociais e culturais de seu país. Seu trabalho é ainda pontuado por uma nascente reflexão romântica e liberal sobre o conhecimento histórico. Um dos maiores exemplos de sua literatura e da unidade temática representada pela sua obra é o romance histórico Eurico, O Presbítero, analisado no presente trabalho / Alexandre Herculano is considered one of the introducers and one of the best illustrions representatives of Romanticism in Portugal. His work, fragmented by jornalistic, literary and historiographic productions, demonstrates a great unit, able to join a large investigation tradition about political, social and cultural problems from his country. Moreover, his work has one increasing romantic and liberal reflection about the historic knowledgement. One of major illustrions examples of his literature which represents the unit theme is the historic novel Eurico, O Presbítero (Eurico, the Priest), analysed on the present work.

Esta dissertação visa realizar uma revisão historiográfica da obra Considerações sobre a França (1797), de Joseph de Maistre, que representa um dos primeiros ensaios de interpretação histórica do fenômeno revolucionário em língua francesa e do ponto de vista da contra-revolução. Neste ínterim, pretendemos oferecer uma visão de conjunto do uso que a historiografia da Revolução Francesa fez das Considerações de Maistre. Simultaneamente, empreendemos uma síntese biográfica-intelectual do saboiano, com o objetivo de sublinhar a complexa natureza de sua reação à Revolução e ao Iluminismo reação esta caracterizada por uma excêntrica interação entre jesuitismo, iluminismo e filosofia das Luzes. Por fim, apresentamos ao público uma tradução dessa obra, ainda inédita em língua portuguesa. / The purpose of this study is to present a historical revision of Joseph de Maistres Considérations sur la France (1797), which represents a pioneering attempt of historical interpretation of the revolutionary phaenomenon in French language and from the point of view of the counter-revolution. In doing so, we intend to offer a panoramic view of the use made of Joseph de Maistres most famous pamphlet in the historiography of the French Revolution. It also provides a brief intellectual biography of the savoyard which tries to underline the complexity of the Maistrean reaction to the Enlightenment and the Revolution - marked by an eccentric interaction with certain currents of jesuitism, iluminism and the Enlightenment. Last but not least, we present a translation of the pamphlet, heretofore neglected in Portuguese.
