In this dissertation we study polynomial identities for the tensor product of two algebras. Based on the growth of the PI-algebra’s codimensions sequence, originally studied by Regev in 1972, we present a proof that the tensor product of two PI-algebras is still a PI-algebra. After this, using the Kronecker product of characters and the classic Amitsur and Regev Hook Theorem, we obtained relations between the codimensions and cocharacters of two PI-algebras and the codimensions and cocharacters of their tensor product. With the study of codimensions and cocharacters, we also exhibit polynomial identities for the tensor product.

In this work we use Young’s Theory for representations of the symmetric groups in the study of PI-algebras. Amitai Regev (1972) introduced the concepts of codimension and cocharacter of PI-algebras, which are the main tools in this study. We first present the Hook Theorem, which was proved by Amitsur and Regev in 1982. This theorem refers to the behavior of the sequence of cocharacters of a PI-algebra, giving conditions for an irreducible character of the group Sn to appear with nonzero multiplicity in the decomposition of the cocharacter of this PI-algebra. We also present three applications of this theorem, including the Amitsur’s theorem, which ensures that all PI-algebra satisfies a power of a standard polynomial. Finally, we study the results of Amitsur and Regev (1982) about a type identity that generalizes the Capelli identities

This activity is realized by the riveriner aim the caiman meat production in salt-dry to supply the interstates trade. The knowledge scenery about the hunting of caiman with hook was put in public since 2003, however, not much is know about this catch effects on the caiman hunting productivity and its catch length. Aim to valuate the effect of this catch, were accompanied 31 caiman hunting with hook in the period of February to October 2008. Multiple Linear Regressions and Simple Linear Regression Analyzes were applied to model the caiman catch production and size. The mass of meat produced by the hunting were modeling in function of the river water level, community distance and hunting effort using hook. Were caught 124 caimans, where: 53 with suspense hook and 71 with the hook armed under land. The modeling of the size of hook and to water deep explained 48% of caiman length variance, while the modeling that used the height of hook parameter above the water surface and water deep explain 38% of this variance. The Simple Linear Regression was utilized to modeling the caiman length caught in function of distance hook traped under land from the interface water-land, showing a variance of 60% for the sample size. The hunting effect presented in this study indicates the intensive hunting pressure on the caiman population, confirmed through produced caiman meat decreasing near to hunters communities. Confirmed through Multiple Linear Regression values expressed for 70% of variance for this production. Was observed too that the caiman hunting are proportionally inverse to the river water level. The Caiman crocodilus caught length present higher abundance of individual above 70cm of snout-vent length. This indicate that the hunting method guard the replacement individuals to maintain the caiman population. While the Melanosuchus niger specie had the higher abundance of caught individual sub adult, noting the reduction of big adults. The absence of this caiman length class sustain the hypothesis that the individual lenght structure of M. niger population are probably affected by the intense hunting pressure. The results presented can be utilized to subsides the public policy for assert the sustainable management of caiman in the Amazon States, Brazil.

Depositional Analysis of a Holocene Carbonate Strand Plain Using High Resolution GPR, Sediment Analysis, and C-14 Dating

Markert, Kaleb Robert 01 December 2019 (has links)
Understanding modern carbonate depositional systems gives valuable insights into the interpretation of ancient carbonate systems. Ancient carbonate strand plains have the potential to act as productive hydrocarbon reservoirs because of their relatively high porosity. Unfortunately, they are difficult to identify in the rock record because of the lack of work done on modern analogues. San Salvador Island in the Bahamas hosts a well-exposed and easily accessible Holocene strand plain, ideal as a modern analogue. Sandy Hook, located on the southeast part of the island, consists of approximately 35 ridge-swale features that show signs of four distinct zones of deposition. In this study, 20 sediment samples were collected from one meter in depth, and throughout each zone. The sediment analysis reveals remarkably consistent grain-size distributions across the four zones. Carbon-14 ages were taken from the sediment samples. They revealed ages decreasing from 2617 ± 188 YBP to modern moving seaward through zone 4. The ages reveal depositional rates of 0.08 to 0.29 meters of accretion per year. Four pseudo-3D GPR surveys were acquired in Zones B, C, and D, and a 2D GPR survey was acquired that spanned the three zones. The pseudo-3D surveys revealed consistent reflectors through the width of the survey indicating that the 2D surveys represent more than the single line. The 2D survey reveals semi-parallel seaward-dipping reflectors (representing fair-weather deposits) that are truncated by sigmoidal seaward-dipping reflectors (high-energy storm deposits). Indicating that Sandy Hook was built through both fair-weather deposits and high-energy storm events.

Molecular study on efficacy of benzimidazoles against the canine hookworm Ancylostoma caninum in dogs

Nezami, Roxana 08 1900 (has links)
Canine ancylostomiasis can be diagnosed using coprological tests that detect hookworm-like eggs, as well as the presence of symptoms such as anaemia and dark stool. In recent years, there has been a significant rise in the number of reports establishing anthelmintic resistance in A. caninum within the United States of America. This emerging trend has prompted our investigation on the possibility of a similar scenario occurring in Canada. The objective of this study was to investigate the occurrence of A. caninum infection in a group of shelter dogs in Quebec who had previously received anthelmintic treatment. Additionally, the study aimed to assess the potential establishment of anthelmintic resistance against this parasite by employing modified approaches to detect infections with a low prevalence. The examination procedure was carried out in two distinct groups: a native group and a group consisting of three dogs from the United States of America (USA group). The coprological test was undertaken both prior to and following anthelmintic treatment, which included the benzimidazoles. Moreover, A. caninum presence was confirmed via precise PCR amplification of the ITS-2 gene. The native group showed a significant treatment effect after receiving fenbendazole. The identification of a heterozygous mutation at codon 167 on the β-tubulin isotype-1 gene in the USA group was achieved through molecular analysis. Thus, by assessing the therapeutic outcomes of fenbendazole, we can confirm its varying effectiveness as an anthelmintic against A. caninum. Additionally, molecular evidence indicates the presence of resistant isolates in the country, which could potentially pose a significant challenge for controlling gastrointestinal nematodes in companion animals.

Design advances of embroidered fabric antennas

Zhang, Shiyu January 2014 (has links)
Wearable technology has attracted global attention in the last decade and the market is experiencing an unprecedented growth. Wearable devices are designed to be low-profile, light-weight and integrated seamlessly into daily life. Comfort is one of the most important requirements for wearable devices. Fabric based antennas are soft, flexible and can be integrated into clothing. State of the art textile manufacturing techniques such as embroidery, combined with advanced conductive textile materials can be used to fabricate flexible fabric based on-body antennas. In this thesis, the feasibility of using computerised embroidery in the fabrication of wearable, flexible yet functional fabric based antennas have been examined. The fabric based antennas are embroidered using conductive threads. The most suitable materials for fabricating embroidered antennas have been identified. The embroidered fabric based antenna systems including transmission lines and low-profile detachable connectors have been fabricated and their RF performances have been tested. The optimal manufacturing parameters related to embroidery such as stitch direction, spacing and length have been examined. The repeatability of embroidered antennas, cost estimation, and complexity of manufacturing process have been clearly presented. The results can be used to inform and provide guidelines for the development of representative products that can be mass manufactured. A new simulation approach has been introduced to analyse the anisotropic properties of embroidered conductive threads. Simulations and measurements indicate that the performances of embroidered antennas are affected by the anisotropic surface current due to the embroidered stitches. Exploiting the current direction, a novel non-uniform meshed patch antenna has been designed. Representative results show that the non-uniform meshed structure can significantly reduce more than 75% of the usage of conductive materials for the microstrip antennas with negligible effect on the antenna performance.

Kontejnerový nosič / Container trailer

Šálek, Pavel January 2016 (has links)
This thesis deals with the design of a container carrier with interchangeable superstructures up to 3000 kg of technical weight. The introduction renders a critical review of similar devices and consecutive review of the device in terms of legislative matters. A dynamic simulation was used to calculate the loaded states. The outcome of the simulation was used to set the border conditions, which were then used for strength analysis calculations using finite element method (FEM). Blueprints of the final design are a part of the thesis.

Eulerian calculus arising from permutation statistics

Lin, Zhicong 29 April 2014 (has links) (PDF)
In 2010 Chung-Graham-Knuth proved an interesting symmetric identity for the Eulerian numbers and asked for a q-analog version. Using the q-Eulerian polynomials introduced by Shareshian-Wachs we find such a q-identity. Moreover, we provide a bijective proof that we further generalize to prove other symmetric qidentities using a combinatorial model due to Foata-Han. Meanwhile, Hyatt has introduced the colored Eulerian quasisymmetric functions to study the joint distribution of the excedance number and major index on colored permutations. Using the Decrease Value Theorem of Foata-Han we give a new proof of his main generating function formula for the colored Eulerian quasisymmetric functions. Furthermore, certain symmetric q-Eulerian identities are generalized and expressed as identities involving the colored Eulerian quasisymmetric functions. Next, generalizing the recent works of Savage-Visontai and Beck-Braun we investigate some q-descent polynomials of general signed multipermutations. The factorial and multivariate generating functions for these q-descent polynomials are obtained and the real rootedness results of some of these polynomials are given. Finally, we study the diagonal generating function of the Jacobi-Stirling numbers of the second kind by generalizing the analogous results for the Stirling and Legendre-Stirling numbers of the second kind. It turns out that the generating function is a rational function, whose numerator is a polynomial with nonnegative integral coefficients. By applying Stanley's theory of P-partitions we find combinatorial interpretations of those coefficients

No. of bitstreams: 1 francisco.pdf: 1029822 bytes, checksum: a55ebb42d97e615744cc7460ffefa1d1 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2011-03-24 / Caferana Picrolemma sprucei Hook a plant from the Simarubaceae family with antimalarial effects well known by the Amazon region native populations is being used without any criteria by them as a medicinal tea in order to fight this disease. The plant has a taproot that could reach over 2mts depth. On chapter one, it has been researched the regrowing of the species in its own habitat, in order to evaluate the increment of vegetal material, in a given period of four years to attain technical information on cultivated stuff and a sprout production method. The selected part of plant was the stem in natural habitat, close-cut regrowing at ground-surface. The population had 75% of plants with average height of 50 cm. On following four years, after being cut to measure average height, 75 % of plants have reached maximum height between 28 to 30cm. As a main conclusion, it could be inferred that, according field observation the caferana plant needs at least the minimum of four years to recompose its growth after being cut. It has been observed a rather slow regrowth increment, because unknown factors. On chapter two, it has been used the agronomic stake technique aiming at to evaluate plant viability for sprout production. It was adopted a casual design experiment absolutely at random in factorial scheme 4 x 4 with four types of stakes ligneous, semi-ligneous, herbaceous and semi-herbaceous and four types of soil; S1 with sand 100%, S2 with 50% sand plus 50% clay, S3 with clay 100%, and S4 with composite soil 30% plus 30% clay plus 40% sand. Best kind of soil for caferana has been S4 composite 21,67%, and best stakes were: ligneous 29,16% and herbaceous 20%. On a general mood, roots were only established after one and a half year of sprout maintenance, turning rather difficult its identification, diminishing sprout development, making non-feasible the stake-technique for sprout production. On chapter three, it has been evaluated caferana plants sprouting with seeds collected at UFAM-AM. The experiment was sketched in blocks at random, with four types of soils; S1 (100% sand); S2 (50% sand plus 50% clay); S3 (100% clay) S4 (30% composite plus 30% clay plus 40% sand), during four years. At the green-house caferana has been watered with automatic sprinkling every ten minutes at 60 second - irrigating period. The largest percentage sprouting average was with substratum S4 (41.02%) followed by S3 (31.92%) and S2 (30,29%) which do not differed between them. The worst performance has been for substratum S1 (22,94%). Germination techniques in green-house, for Picrolemma spruce Hook sprout production has had a rather medium yield. It has been concluded that there is a great dependence on moisture for this species germination, already proved by best treatments (S4, S3, S2), containing (clay and humus) moisture retaining particles, which was also verified in its habitat next to Igarapes (creeks), where they develop in larger quantities. It is highly recommended to test other sprout production techniques, as in B.O.D chambers where could prove better results than in soil substrata germination. On chapter four, it has been evaluated the analysis by genetic markers conducted by three different combinations of four EcoRI-Msel starters, resulting in a total number of 443 polymorphic bands. These data has been used for the analysis of genetic divergence among populations. It was observed low-levels of genetic divergence among them. Genetic similarity at must has been of 88.8% inside C population, 39% inside D population, being similar inside P population, indicating, and lower genetic variability on C population, then influenced to endogamy crossing. Clustering populations has being displayed in the form of a dendrogram; inferring that, populations with greater Jaccard coefficient tend to have more similarity, and trees next to each other tend to be more similar among them. A Caferana (Picrolemma sprucei Hook. f.)
