Religiösa ungdomars identitetsskapande och positionering i skolan : En kvalitativ intervjustudie av fyra ungdomars religiösa identitetsskapande

Antoon, Diana January 2020 (has links)
Identity and identity formation affects all people in life. There has been done much research on what can develop human identity. There are also theories about how people develop their identity and which factors affect people's identity. The aim of this paper is to examine the factors that affect the identity of religious youth. The purpose is also to examine the significance and place of religion in the lives of the informants and how the Swedish school presents students' own religious tradition in religion studies in school. The study was conducted through a qualitative interview study with four high school students. Furthermore, the results have been analyzed in relation to Anthony Gidden’s theory of identity, Thomas Ziehe’s theory about identity, and the socialization theory.                       The result showed that religion is a big part of informants' lives. It has been stated that fasting, prayers, and religious attire are factors that affect the lives of the informants. Furthermore, it emerged that religion, family, society, school, and social media are factors that affect the identity development of the informants. It is also expressed that the Swedish school presents the students' own religious traditions in a foreign way for those students who do not belong to the majority religion, Christianity. The conclusion of this paper is that religion and faith, family, school, society, and the internalized world are factors that shape the informants' lives in how they develop their identity.

AN INTEGRATIVE LITERATURE REVIEW ABOUT GROWING UP WITH SIBLING WHO HAVE DISABILITIES

Kangas, Beatrice January 2023 (has links)
The following study aims to investigate the consequences for children aged 0-25 growing up with a sibling with a developmental disorder. In addition, the study intends to identify significant factors to achieve knowledge on how professionals in healthcare can develop the work and treatment with the children and their families. The study's theoretical framework is a psychosocial perspective on identity development and coping strategies. The study is designed as an integrative review in which both qualitative and quantitative data have been included. The data is processed and compiled through thematic analysis. The results show that growing up with a sibling with a developmental disorder can be related to higher risk of social consequences, emotional overload and mental illness. The results indicate that it’s the potential consequences of the disorder that is the main reason for the higher risk of mental illness. There are also positive consequences such as developed stress management, increased patience and values about respect for others despite differences. Identified prominent factors are social support, parents, the diagnosis and age. Identity development can be affected and thus also the importance of coping strategies for managing the situation in a successful way.

From Pre-Islam to Mandate States: Examining Cultural Imperialism and Cultural Bleed in the Levant

Willman, Gabriel 01 August 2013 (has links)
To a large degree, historical analyses of the Levantine region tend to focus primarily upon martial interaction and state formation. However, perhaps of equitable impact is the chronology of those interactions which are cultural in nature. The long-term formative effect of cultural imperialism and cultural bleed can easily be as influential as the direct alterations imposed by martial invasion. While this study does not attempt to establish comparative causal weight or catalytic impact between these types of interactions, it does contend that the cultural evolution of the Levant has been significantly influenced by external interaction for a period of time extending beyond the Levantine Islamic Expansion. This study presents a chronological examination of the region from the pre-Expansion Period through the Mandate Period, focused upon relevant cultural structures. Specifically, emphasis is placed upon religious, ethnic, and nationalistic identity development, sociolinguistic shifts, and institutional changes within the societal structure. The primary conclusion of this study is that significant evidence exists to support a long-term historical narrative of externally influenced Levantine cultural evolution, inclusive of both adaptive and reactive interactions.
