The combination of imaginary and real worlds.

Design / My work explores methods of creating illusions that make the imaginary and the real worlds appear to co-exist. More specifically, my animations look at ways of connecting the real and fantastical by using “low tech” materials. This report discusses existing work that combines animation with video-installation, live-performance, and advertisements; analyzes my research trajectory, explains my methodology for producing new hybrid work in animation; and then describes my projects. Each project is derived from a matrix I developed that forces integrations between two sets of criteria: (1) physical world action, objects and space, and (2) computer-generated images, representational images in an imaginary state and objects in physical space in an imaginary state. / text

Nossa pesquisa tem como objetivo discutir a Teoria do Imaginário de Durand (1996) como proposta teórico-metodógica para o campo da Educação Matemática, numa perspectiva transdisciplinar, segundo D´Ambrosio e Vergani. Essa proposta ganha vida pelos caminhos da Mitocrítica, a fim de desvendar os mitos reitores pessoais do professor de Matemática Júlio César de Mello e Souza - o Malba Tahan. Essa busca ou caça ao mito passa por uma análise mítica do discurso pedagógico de Malba Tahan na revista Al-Karismi e nas obras O homem que calculava e Didática da Matemática. Paralelamente, o tema proposto neste trabalho - A Sombra do Arco-Íris: um estudo histórico-mitocrítico do discurso pedagógico de Malba Tahan - retoma a história de vida do autor por meio de uma análise bibliográfico-documental e mitemática das obras consultadas e estudadas no Instituto Malba Tahan (IMT). Elas definem os mitos reitores pessoais do professor de Matemática Júlio César de Mello e Souza e traçam sua trajetória no Regime Noturno de Imagem com um micro-universo sintético. Assim, a investigação desvenda os mitos reitores como um fio condutor no discurso pedagógico e na trajetória pessoal de Malba Tahan -- como o fenômeno raro da sombra do arco-íris -- e aponta para uma nova tópica para as pesquisas na área da Educação Matemática, que envolvem as tendências da Etnomatemática e da História da Educação Matemática. / Our research is aimed at discussing Durand\'s Theory of the Imaginary World (1996) as a theoretical-methodological proposal for Mathematical Education, in a cross-curricular perspective, according to D´Ambrosio and Vergani. Veiga. The reflection on the artist's fictional work, with its elements of fantastic literature and wonderful Latin American realism, led us to analyze the procedures of artistic creation that were not intuitive in the first readings, and a more accurate analysis of the resources And the stylistic language in literary art. The universe of the characters made the research more attractive to be imbricated with theories that denote the meanings of terms like real, reality, natural, supernatural, among others. To that end, we refer to the following authors: Tzvetan Todorov (1982), William Spindler (1993), François Laplantine (1996), Alejo Carpentier (1987), Irlemar Chiampi (1980), among others. From there, we choose to observe in the objectives the questions of unusual, magical realism, the fantastic and the marvelous, considering them as outstanding characteristics of the discourse, as well as demonstrating how the play of words occurs that affects the relations of the languages of Frontiers, with inferences in the artistic-literary allegory. The construction of strangeness, the fantastic and the marvelous aligns in this asymmetrical space, to generate the effect of the fiction of the narrative, in an imaginary world that is established by its senses / O objeto deste estudo é Os pecados da tribo, de José J. Veiga. A reflexão sobre a obra ficcional do artista, com seus elementos da literatura fantástica e do realismo maravilhoso latino-americano, levou-nos a analisar os procedimentos da criação artística, que não se mostrou intuitiva nas primeiras leituras, sendo necessária uma análise mais acurada dos recursos e da estilística da linguagem na arte literária. O universo dos personagens tornou a pesquisa mais atraente ao ser imbricado com teorias que denotam as significações de termos como real, realidade, natural, sobrenatural, entre outros. Para tanto, recorremos aos seguintes autores: Tzvetan Todorov (1982), William Spindler (1993), François Laplantine (1996), Alejo Carpentier (1987), Irlemar Chiampi (1980), entre outros. A partir daí, optamos por observar nos objetivos as questões do insólito, do realismo mágico, do fantástico e do maravilhoso, considerando-as como características marcantes do discurso, bem como demonstrar como se dá o jogo de palavras que incide nas relações das linguagens de fronteiras, com inferências na alegoria artístico-literária. A construção do estranhamento, do fantástico e do maravilhoso se alinha nesse espaço assimétrico, para gerar o efeito da ficção da narrativa, num mundo imaginário que se estabelece pelos seus sentidos.

Realiza-se neste trabalho um estudo comparado de dois contos pertencentes ao macrossistema das literaturas de língua portuguesa: \"As margens da Alegria\", do livro de contos Primeiras Estórias, do escritor brasileiro João Guimarães Rosa, e \"O viajante clandestino\", do livro Cronicando, do escritor moçambicano Mia Couto, utilizando como suporte teórico o comparatismo de solidariedade teorizado por Benjamin Abdala Junior, a partir da conceituação de sistema literário formulado por Antonio Candido. A dissertação focaliza os contos buscando articulação entre eles do ponto de vista temático e estrutural, enfatizando o narrador e a linguagem, e detectando em sua construção narrativa a presença do imaginário infantil. Inicialmente, analisamos os contos em suas especificidades e depois estabelecemos confronto entre ambos para detectar similitudes e diferenças entre os autores na construção de suas narrativas, buscando sempre a correlação com o conjunto da obra de cada autorl. / This paper makes a comparative study between two short stories which belong to the macrosystem of the Portuguese language literature: \"As margens da Alegria\", from the short story book Primeiras Estorias, by the Brazilian writer Guimarães Rosa, and \"O viajante clandestine\", from the book Cronicando, by the Mozambican writer Mia Couto. This work is based on the comparativism of solidarity theorized by Benjamin Abdala Junior, considering the literary system formulated by Antonio Candido. This dissertation focuses on the short stories examined and tries to articulate them in terms of thematic and structural points, emphasizing the narrator and the language, apart from detecting in their narrative construction the presence of elements from the children\'s imaginary world. Inicially, the short stories are analyzed in their specificities and then confronts are established in order to detect similarities and differences between both authors and their narrative constructions, always attempting to make correlations with the whole of each author\'s work.

In one of the continuous education meetings, these women elicited the imaginary world belonging to this stage of childhood which they work with their pupils. The longed-for memories of this child life moment were painted in pieces of fabric and, when sewn, they resulted in a Patchwork Quilt that is stitched together with collective knowledge and experiences. The Patchwork Quilt is comprehended as an account of relations woven by life stories that are loaded with feelings and emotions stored long ago. The written narratives that compose the Book of Memories also brought to the light this Imaginary World: another thread of the fabric that is attached to the remaining cluster highlighted by the Social Representations. In other words, it is a way of tracking, from different angles, the vestiges of meaning’s origin revealed by this group of teachers, trying to establish relations between social and individual factors. Understanding the images of the Patchwork Quilt and the narratives of the Book of Memories consisted of a confluence movement with what we have experienced and what we are. It unravels in a cyclical and self-educating process, in which the complexity of each patch, along with the singular and amalgamated narratives, is achieved in the consistent whole of this research / Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo analisar as Representações Sociais sobre a Infância e o período de Alfabetização, de 25 professoras alfabetizadoras da Rede Estadual de Educação de São Paulo, desvelando o Imaginário que construíram sobre o seu tempo de alfabetização, impresso em uma Colcha de Retalhos e no Caderno de Memórias. O estudo das Representações Sociais oriundas das narrativas e das pinturas trouxe à tona o imaginário dessa fase da Infância, para a qual estas professoras atuam com seus alunos. As saudades desse momento da vida infantil foram pintadas em retalhos individuais que, ao serem costurados, resultou em uma Colcha de Retalhos que se unem alinhavados a saberes e experiências desse coletivo. A Colcha de Retalhos foi compreendida como um relato das relações tecidas pelas histórias de vida que se demonstraram carregadas de sentimentos e emoções guardadas de um tempo longínquo. As narrativas escritas que compõem o Caderno de Memórias também trouxeram à tona esse Imaginário, que é mais uma linha ao tecido que se prende ao conjunto restante evidenciado por meio das Representações Sociais. Ou seja, é uma forma de rastrear desde diferentes ângulos, os vestígios da origem do significado revelado por este grupo de professoras, tratando de alinhavar relações entre o social e o individual. Apreender as imagens pintadas na Colcha de Retalhos e as narrativas do Caderno de Memórias, consistiu em um movimento de confluência com o que experenciamos e com o que somos, desentrelaçando-se em um processo cíclico e autoformativo, onde a complexidade de cada retalho, somado às narrativas – singulares e amalgamadas – são arrematados no todo consistente desse estudo

<p>Denna studie syftar till att framhålla ett perspektiv på reklambilders symboliska och ontologiska egenskaper. Studien grundar sig i tre informanters egna betraktelser av den inre varseblivning och de känslor som uppdagats då de beskådat reklambilder. Uppsatsen behandlar några av de betraktelser som gjordes av informanterna, och belyser likheter dessa emellan. Vidare sätts betraktelserna i ett nytt perspektiv genom att behandla dem utifrån ett ontologiskt närmande, vilket uppdagar reklambildernas funktion som medel för reflektion, samt för upprätthållandet av en gemensam föreställningsvärld.</p> / <p>This study is an attempt to establish a perspective on the symbolic and ontological features of advertising pictures. Si le paparazzi est le parent pauvre de l’histoire de la photographie, il est une source précieuse d’inspiration pour la fiction cinématographique et télévisuelle. Personnage avant même d’apparaître à l’écran, le paparazzi instaure une tension à la fois narrative et visuelle qui autorise un questionnement sur ses modalités de représentations. À l’aide d’un corpus defilms et de séries télévisées occidental allant de 1940 à 2008, notre étude entend repérer et analyser les récurrences des représentations du paparazzi dans une approche socio-historique et culturelle. Séducteur, sauveur... chasseur, voleur ? Revenir sur l’imaginaire de l’appareil photographique et sur le caractère hybride de sa pratique permet de comprendre comment se construit l’image d’un « mauvais » photographe. Masse impersonnelle ou personnage principal du récit, mi-animal, mi-machine, les différentes formes que prend le paparazzi à l’écran révèlent et menacent l’humanité de la star. À l’heure où les chances d’accéder au statut de célébrité sont aussi fortes que les probabilités de « faire le paparazzi », la fiction révèle une lutte à mort dans laquelle chaque partie se bat pour une valeur devenue absolue : la visibilité. / Although the paparazzi is the poor relation in the history of photography, it is a precious source of inspiration for cinematographic and televisual fictions. Already a character before appearing on screen, the paparazzi establishes a tension, both narrative and visual, that encourages an exploration of its forms of representation. Supported by a collection of films and western television series, from 1940 to 2008, this work will identify and analyze the reoccuring ways in which the paparazzi is represented, from a socio-historical and cultural perspective. Seducer, savior… hunter, thief ? Returning to the imaginary world which surrounds the camera and the hybrid quality of its use allows one to understand how theimage of a « bad » photographer is built. Anonymous croud or main character in the story, half-animal, half-machine, the different faces of the paparazzi on screen both enlighten and threaten the star’s humanity. At a time when the chance of reaching celebrity status are as high as the odds of « acting like a paparazzi », works of fiction reveal a struggle to the deathin which each party fights for a new absolute value : visibility.
