Evaluering van 'n bestuursopleidingskursusDe Jager, Willem 11 1900 (has links)
A management training course was' evaluated for effectiveness by using two
specially compiled in-basket exercises equivalent in complexity. Outcome
evaluation was performed so as to determine whether learning transfer took
place, ie whether management skills in the application of the management
dimensions planning, organising and control do manifest in the work
context afterwards. Significant differences were found between the
experimental group and the control group in the application of the
management dimensions planning, organising and control. These
differences were investigated by means of the "Univariate procedure ... A
management training course can therefore be effectively measured with the
behaviour assessment approach by using two groups, where only one
group is exposed to a management training course. It can thus be
ascertained whether a change in management behaviour has taken place
as a result of learning transfer.

Cortical GABAergic basket cells (BC) innervate hundreds of postsynaptic targets with synapses clustered around the soma and proximal dendrites. They are important for gamma oscillation generation, which in turn regulate many cognitive functions, and for the regulation of developmental cortical plasticity. Although the function of BC within cortical networks is being explored, the mechanisms that control the development of their extensive arborisation and synaptic contacts have not been entirely resolved.
By using the Drosophila allatostatin G-protein-coupled receptors (AlstR), we show that reducing excitation, and thus neurotransmitter release, in mouse cortical single BC in slice cultures decreases the number of innervated cells without changing the pattern of perisomatic innervation, both at the peak and after the proliferation phase of perisomatic synapse formation. Conversely, suppressing neurotransmitter release in single BCs by using the tetanus toxin light-chain can have completely opposite effects depending on the developmental stage. Basket cells expressing TeNT-Lc during the peak of the proliferation were characterized by denser axonal arbors and an increased number of smaller, homogenous boutons around the innervated somatas compared with control cells. However, after the peak of the synapse proliferation, TeNT-Lc transfected BCs formed perisomatic innervation with fewer terminal axon branches and fewer irregular-sized boutons around innervated somatas. Our results reveal a remarkably specific and age-dependent role of neural activity and neurotransmission levels in the establishment of the synaptic territory of cortical GABAergic cells.
Brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) has been shown to be a strong modulator of activity-dependent-maturation of GABAergic synapses. Through the activation and signaling of their receptor Tropomyosin-related kinase B (TrkB), mBDNF binding strongly modulates the proliferation of GABAergic perisomatic synapses formed by BCs. Whether the low-affinity neurotrophin-receptor p75NTR also play a role in the development of basket cell synaptic territory is unknown. Here, we show that single-cell deletion of p75NTR in BCs in cortical organotypic cultures from p75NTRlox mice induce the formation of exuberant perisomatic innervations by the mutant basket cells, in a cell-autonomous fashion. BDNF is synthesized as a precursor, proBDNF, which is cleaved by enzymes, including tPA-activated plasmin, to produce mature (m)BDNF. mBDNF and proBDNF bind with high-affinity to TrkB and p75NTR, respectively. Our results show that treating organotypic cultures with cleavage-resistant proBDNF (mut-proBDNF) strongly reduces the synaptic territory of BCs. Treating cultures with the tPA-inactivating peptide PPACK or with tPA impairs and promotes the maturation of BC synaptic innervations, respectively. We further show that the exuberant innervations formed by p75NTR-/- basket cells are not affected by mut-proBDNF treatment. All together, these results suggest that proBDNF-mediated p75NTR activation negatively regulates the synaptic territory of BCs.
We next examined if mut-proBDNF affects perisomatic innervation formed by BCs in vivo, in the adult mouse. We found that perisomatic GABAergic boutons are significantly decreased in the cortex infused with mut-proBDNF as compared to non-infused or saline-treated hemispheres. Further, ocular dominance (OD) plasticity is restored by this treatment in adult mice. Finally, we found that proBDNF-mediated activation of p75NTR is necessary to induce OD plasticity in the adult mice, by using mice that lack p75NTR specifically in BCs. All together, these results demonstrate a critical role of p75NTR activation in regulating and maintaining GABAeric circuit connectivity from early postnatal development to adulthood. Further, we suggest that controlled activation of p75NTR could be a useful tool to restore plasticity in adult cortex.

Současné problémy školního stravování v ČR a vize jeho dalšího vývoje / Current problems of school meals in the Czech republic and the vision of its future developmentStrosserová, Alena January 2017 (has links)
Abstracts This thesis will address current problems in terms of school feeding in the Czech Republic. Its purpose is to summarize the situation from the point of view of the heads of school cafeterias and to determine the greatest difficulties for further functioning of the system. School feeding system is a part of educational and learning process and its effects relate to proper fulfilling of schools' educational programmes. At the same time, it is an environment for application of informal learning in terms of correct eating habits and social interactions during meals. By participating in the process, the pupils gain socio-psychological competences for entire life. Not only they gain practical knowledge in terms of nutrition, they learn as well how to interact during meals in an unforced way. Using the questionnaire method, some of the problems of school feeding system were identified. Some of the most severe problems might become a risk to this whole unique system. The outcome of the research are findings which point out the problems, such as old age of the personnel in the school feeding system, as well as the absence of new young people, who would continuously take on the experiences and replace the retiring workers. The results of the research revealed that the case of these problems are mainly...

Efeitos da renda sobre atributos da alimentação no Brasil: Uma análise da influência de medidas associadas ao salário mínimo sobre dimensões da segurança alimentar e nutricional / Effects of income on food attributes in Brazil: An analysis of the influence of measures associated to the minimum wage on food and nutritional security dimensionsSantana, André Bento Chaves 21 September 2018 (has links)
The objective of the study was to assess the adequacy of the use of minimum wage in the investigation of aspects related to food and nutrition security in Brazil, in comparison to other income measures; especially referring to its characteristics in representing purchase power, nutritional quality of food consumption patterns at population level and alternatives for solution of food insecurity situations. Using data from the Brazilian Institute for Geography and Statistics (IBGE) and the Brazilian Interunion Department for Statistics and Economic Studies (DIEESE), a set of analysis was performed in relation to: (1) evolution of purchase power of the Brazilian minimum wage from its inception until nowadays, in comparison to the monetary value required to acquisition of the food items originally proposed in the basic food basket used for its calculation; (2) nutritional adequacy of the Brazilian basic food basket in comparison to recent nutritional recommendations; (3) nutritional quality of the food consumption patterns from the Brazilian population in comparison to a diet based on items of the basic food basket, using the Healthy Eating Index Revised adapted for Brazil; (4) characterization of Brazilian households under food insecurity in order to map attitudes adopted to deal with food scarcity. The results showed deterioration of the relevance of the Brazilian minimum wage in the food and nutrition context, due to the absence of updates in its monetary value during periods of high inflation in Brazil, and due to changes in nutritional recommendations derived from advances in knowledge without revision of the composition of the basic food basket originally proposed for estimation of the minimum wage. The Brazilian population dietary pattern nowadays and the diet based on the basic food basket were marked by low proportion of fruits, vegetables and cereals; and excess of calories from fats, oils and sugar. In relation to food insecurity, results pointed to preference for adoption of attitudes related to intra-household food redistribution and support of social networks in order to deal with lack of food. Government programs were rarely mentioned as potential solutions for reducing the impacts of food scarcity in the household context. The evidences analyzed in the study indicated that policies for adjustment of the minimum wage and programs for income distribution in Brazil had low effectiveness for promotion of improvements in food consumption patterns among the Brazilian population. Certain government programs directed towards promotion of food security probably present insufficient coverage or low dissemination among low income segments of the population, compromising the assurance of adequate access to food in Brazil.

Mortality linked derivatives and their pricingBahl, Raj Kumari January 2017 (has links)
This thesis addresses the absence of explicit pricing formulae and the complexity of proposed models (incomplete markets framework) in the area of mortality risk management requiring the application of advanced techniques from the realm of Financial Mathematics and Actuarial Science. In fact, this is a multi-essay dissertation contributing in the direction of designing and pricing mortality-linked derivatives and offering the state of art solutions to manage longevity risk. The first essay investigates the valuation of Catastrophic Mortality Bonds and, in particular, the case of the Swiss Re Mortality Bond 2003 as a primary example of this class of assets. This bond was the first Catastrophic Mortality Bond to be launched in the market and encapsulates the behaviour of a well-defined mortality index to generate payoffs for bondholders. Pricing this type of bond is a challenging task and no closed form solution exists in the literature. In my approach, we adapt the payoff of such a bond in terms of the payoff of an Asian put option and present a new methodology to derive model-independent bounds for catastrophic mortality bonds by exploiting the theory of comonotonicity. While managing catastrophic mortality risk is an upheaval task for insurers and re-insurers, the insurance industry is facing an even bigger challenge - the challenge of coping up with increased life expectancy. The recent years have witnessed unprecedented changes in mortality rate. As a result academicians and practitioners have started treating mortality in a stochastic manner. Moreover, the assumption of independence between mortality and interest rate has now been replaced by the observation that there is indeed a correlation between the two rates. Therefore, my second essay studies valuation of Guaranteed Annuity Options (GAOs) under the most generalized modeling framework where both interest rate and mortality risk are stochastic and correlated. Pricing these types of options in the correlated environment is an arduous task and a closed form solution is non-existent. In my approach, I employ the use of doubly stochastic stopping times to incorporate the randomness about the time of death and employ a suitable change of measure to facilitate the valuation of survival benefit, there by adapting the payoff of the GAO in terms of the payoff of a basket call option. I then derive general price bounds for GAOs by employing the theory of comonotonicity and the Rogers-Shi (Rogers and Shi, 1995) approach. Moreover, I suggest some `model-robust' tight bounds based on the moment generating function (m.g.f.) and characteristic function (c.f.) under the affine set up. The strength of these bounds is their computational speed which makes them indispensable for annuity providers who rely heavily on Monte Carlo simulations to calculate the fair market value of Guaranteed Annuity Options. In fact, sans Monte Carlo, the academic literature does not offer any solution for the pricing of the GAOs. I illustrate the performance of the bounds for a variety of affine processes governing the evolution of mortality and the interest rate by comparing them with the benchmark Monte Carlo estimates. Through my work, I have been able to express the payoffs of two well known modern mortality products in terms of payoffs of financial derivatives, there by filling the gaps in the literature and offering state of art techniques for pricing of these sophisticated instruments.

Mental Arithmetic in Consumer Judgments : Mental Representations, Computational Strategies and Biases. / Arithmétique Mentale dans les Jugements des Consommateurs : Représentations Mentales, Stratégies de Calcul et les Biais.Sokolova, Tatiana 23 June 2015 (has links)
In my dissertation I look at mental representations and cognitive processes that underlie mental arithmetic in the marketplace. This research contributes to behavioral pricing literature by outlining novel factors that influence consumers’ price difference judgments. Particularly, I uncover factors that make consumers more or less likely to fall prey to the left-digit anchoring bias (Essay 1) and factors that determine their tendency to rely on relative thinking in price difference evaluations (Essay 3). Further, this research provides new insights to the mental budgeting literature by identifying mental computation strategies that lead to more accurate basket price estimates (Essay 2). Overall, I expect my research to contribute to our understanding of consumers’ price judgments and suggest contexts and strategies leading to more accurate price evaluations.

"'Am I Black Enough for You ?' Basket-ball, médias et culture afro-américaine aux États-Unis (1950-2015)" / "'Am I Black Enough for You? Basketball, Media, and Afro-American Culture in the US (1950-2015)"Descamps, Yann 04 December 2015 (has links)
As a global cultural phenomenon, basketball is portrayed as a “black” sport, in spite of its origins in Mainstream America. What lies behind this acculturation in reverse, whereby a minority appropriates a sport of the majority? In what sense is the Afro-Americanness of basketball a political, cultural and social construct? What role do the media play in the representation of this link established between Afro-American culture and basketball? And to what extent does this link find itself reflected in the other elements of the Afro-American popular culture? The research methodology calls on various disciplines, from cultural history to media studies, including semiology. It relies on a complex corpus that includes ethnographic observation, the analyses of the comments of NBA matches, documentaries as well as audiovisual productions (movies, TV series, music). It aims at revealing the storytelling constructed by the NBA, as well as the representing in words and music of the Afro-Americanness of the basketball. The research highlights several phases in the evolution of the sport, from Political to Symbolic to Corporate with a recent Progressive phase of return to politics. The analysis of the comments of the Finales NBA reveals the representation of the black athlete through the media prism. Mixed with this storytelling, the issue of race is elaborated within an American sports mythology where the relation to the Other is mediated by the athletic and racial performance of the players. The study of popular culture underlines the visual importance of the black body and the figure of the Black Baller. The process of acculturation and cultural appropriation is thus partially related to the initiative of the Afro-American community but the media and the popular culture they convey play an essential role in the framing of the black Basketball player within the narrative of American togetherness.

Stravování dětí a mladistvých v dětských diagnostických ústavech, dětských domovech, dětských domovech se školou, výchovných ústavech a středisku výchovné péče v Královéhradeckém kraji / Feeding children and adolescents in children´s diagnostic institutions, children´s homes, children´s homes with school, educational institutions and the Center of Educational Care in the Hradec Králové regionŠPAČKOVÁ, Žaneta January 2009 (has links)
The topic of this thesis is ``Feeding children and adolescents in children´s diagnostic institutions, children´s homes, children´s homes with school, educational institutions and the Center of Educational Care in the Hradec Králové region. Childhood and adolescence are specific periods in which each individual undergoes significant physical, mental and social development. For healthy development and health in adulthood it is important a properly chosen alimentation. It is necessary to be aware of the fact that lifestyle and the environment affect the health status of the population by up to 60 %, 40 % of which fall on the diet. Therefore, the research part of my thesis is focused on the survey of the quality of food served to children and adolescents who are almost entirely dependent on meals prepared in canteens of children´s diagnostic institutions and institutional care and preventive educational care facilities. The aim of this thesis was to find out whether the variety of dishes served in the selected facilities corresponds to current nutrition recommendations and if the consumer basket meets requirements of the Decree No 107/2005 Coll., as amended by Decree No. 107/2008 Coll. The research was conducted by the qualitative method. To collect data on the investigated facilities the technique of data file analysis was used. The research set was composed of children´s diagnostic institutions, children´s homes, children´s homes with school, educational institutions and the Center of Educational Care in the Hradec Králové region. At random six facilities were selected. They provided me with data such as menues, issue slips and consumer baskets in the months of March, April, October and November in 2008 The obtained data were summarized in tables and graphs which provide information on the composition of meals served, on the consumer baskets composition, on ways to cover the total consumption of fruits and vegetables, the ratio in which plant and animal fats are served, the amount of sausages, smoked products and haslet in the group of meat. The management of selected food facilities will be informed about the outcomes and possible shortcomings. In the case of any identified shortcomings, changes in the diet composition or food consumption may be recommended by the Regional Hygiene station in Hradec Králové.
