"Kommunikation är skitviktigt och kommunikation är skitsvårt." : En kvalitativ studie av internkommunikationen i en medelstor organisation i Sverige / "Communication is really important and communication is really hard." : A qualitative survey of internal communication in a medium sized organization in Sweden

Jarl, Sofie, Salomonsson, Emma January 2013 (has links)
For an organization to be created, exist and develop, internal communication is a prerequisite, witch leads to the entire organization suffering if the communication fails. A good internal communication can lift an activity, motivate and increase the sense of participation among employees and generate job satisfaction and positive effect on employee job performance, which ultimately has a major impact on the organization's performance and success. The study is based on a qualitative survey of internal communication from a systems theory perspective on a medium sized automotive company in southern Sweden. Ten semi-structured interviews were conducted at two different sites with informants from all the organization levels. The study aims to increase knowledge about the communications structures, procedures and channels that creates the best conditions for an effective internal communication with focus on communication between management and employees. The result shows that it circulates large amounts of information daily in the organization. The employees demanded clearer communication structures, descriptions of communication responsibilities and information policies. The material in the interviews also revealed that employees prefer oral communication of complex and complicated issues and written communication is preferred for fast, clear and operational communications, although employees in some cases could see the advantages of the combination of written and oral communication. The results also show that direct communication between management and employees at the facilities are limited, but the employees still believe that the possibilities for dialogue are good. The conclusion is that many of the communication problems in the investigated organization is due to the vagueness of the organizational structure, which has led to that the organization does not have a clear communication structure with guidelines and information policies. Furthermore, we have also come to the conclusion that many of the deficiencies in the information flow may partly reflect management's way of handling the communication and information in the studied organization.

Internal Communication and Employee Perceptions during Acquisitions

Hindström, Jakob, Tullström, Johan January 2018 (has links)
The purpose of the thesis was to research how management used internal communication during acquisitions and if it affected the perceptions amongst the employees. Internal communication happens at all levels of every organization and underpins organizational effectiveness. Internal communication is a powerful tool available for managers, but is difficult to master as employees have demands regarding channels, frequency, richness and meaning. During an acquisition the use of internal communication is even more important and harder to handle. Employees hold different perceptions about the acquisition based on partner attractiveness and target responsiveness. These perceptions will make employees perceive the acquisition as an opportunity or a threat. The communication owner must be aware of the perceptions and take them into account when crafting a strategy for internal communication. Employees in the two case organizations studied held negative perceptions in the early stages of the acquisitions. Our results showed that it was possible to alter employee perceptions regarding the acquisitions from threatening to opportunistic by internal communication and managerial involvement.

Marel, Miloslav January 2010 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to highlight the important aspects in internal company relationships focusing on corporate culture and internal communication. The theoretical terms such as information, communication, motivation, work motivation, organizational culture, domestic corporate communications and their interrelationships are described in the introductory part. The background and knowledge of the theoretical parts are used in the analysis of two specific companies (the first is a Czech middle-sized company with a long tradition and the other is the Czech branch of multinational pharmaceutical corporation) in the practical part. Data were collected by questionnaire, supplemented by personal interviews with staff and management of both companies. Data were evaluated according to several criteria, mostly according to corporate nationality and job title (ordinary employee, manager, top manager). The analysis found many failures in internal communication in both companies, especially in communicating with ordinary employees. Comparing the two companies showed that the level of internal communication in the Czech company is at significantly lower level than in a company with a strong foreign background. Based on the results of analysis and knowledge of internal communication issues were the two companies at the end of the analysis provided with the concrete measures to improve their corporate culture through internal communication. Overall, the results of the practical part indicated that the corporate culture and internal communication are still underestimated in the environment of Czech firms and at a lower level in comparison with foreign companies.

Sakic, Amela, Liljegren, Emma, Falck, Sandra January 2017 (has links)
Purpose: The purpose of the study is to study how communication problems can occur and which can arise between levels at a company, in connection with a planned organizational change. The author´s of the essay wants to contribute is to expand the academic research in internal communication by studying the company "Company A". Method: The essay consists partly of own primary data and partly of secondary data. By studying reading books about organizational theory and several searches in the SUMMON @ BTH database, a reference frame consisting of secondary data was created. While the primary data was collected through interviews. The results we have compiled in the theory section was compared with empirical data and analyzed to answer our question. Conclusion: Through a planned change, we have concluded that internal communication is one of the most important parts of an organization and especially in organizational change. The Group used in the study utilized and relied heavily on an external consultant in the planned change that arose during a buy-in. This, along with no clear plan as well as physical distance, meant that the Group did not build up a functioning communication with the new facility, thus creating no reliable relationship with the employees. The intranet that the group subsequently used as communication mode was not successful as our study demonstrated.

Nástroje efektivní interní komunikace v době sociálních sítí / The tools of effective internal communicaton in times of social networks.

Růžičková, Barbora January 2014 (has links)
Nowadays, the term of communication includes many types of information sharing and the efficiency of this process is the art of understanding the individual components of the communication process and the proper use of communication tools. It is necessary to be aware of the change of the current people thinking which differs considerably from the previous generations and it relates to the change of communication channels and means of communication. Former thinking of people was based on a set order, while the world today is disorganized and complex. Formerly, there was a finite number of elements that interacted with each other, but there is an unlimited number of elements in a large interconnected style nowadays. There were predictable conditions in the past but there is a high degree of unpredictability today. It is more than obvious that mankind made a big step since the end of World War II and multinational corporations, organizations and associations have a greater influence than the government itself. It is just a matter of discussion to which extent the world will be interconnected in future and how people thinking and communication shift in the coming decades. The subject matter of this thesis is the way of internal communication and used internal tools, especially the analysis of the channels of communication across generations, the effectiveness of communication processes and ways of using nowadays. In the theoretical part, I would like to investigate a change in human thinking (according to research by the Canadian professor Don Tapscott), the differences between the baby boomers, X, Y and new generation Z. My used sources are the websites on social marketing and also the research of magazine Forbes about the youngest generation Z. Besides the change in thinking and different effects on different generational groups I examine specific communication tools of these groups and progress in this area. I draw current and also new challenges arising from the global communication based on resources from United Nations´ official publications and the World Internet Statistics. Furthermore, I am focusing on the internal communication tools and social media. Internal communications is still relatively marginalized in the Czech Republic. Few people realize how great power is hidden within communication and how it can affect not only the atmosphere and relationships in the workplace but also the actual results of the organization. For this reason I chose internal communication as a subject of research in the practical part. The empirical part of this thesis focuses on internal communication among students of the Faculty of international relations of the University of Economics in Prague and the leadership, which share information to the students. I will focus on the online student portal ISIS, intranet, personal approach of teachers and on social media of this Faculty. I evaluate the use of the channels and subsequent effectiveness of communication channels. Based on the results of the survey I will evaluate the hypothesis which presuppose different use and functionality of communication channels. My goal is to assess the selected communication channels based on the results of this research, compare them, evaluate the efficiency and in case of weaknesses suggest possible solutions to improve the situation. Hypothesis I: Tools of Internal communication such as ISIS, website and internet are used effectively by students and students receive through them properly and in a time all relevant information, news and documents to study. Hypothesis II. Personal approach of teachers and officials helps in solving students matters. Hypothesis III. The most helpful tools in sharing information and materials is now moreless social medium facebook than the official networks of the University.

Leadership Communication Role within International Business Organization / Leadership Communication Role within International Business Organization

Křetínská, Tereza January 2014 (has links)
The thesis focuses on the role of leadership communication within a multinational business organization. It aims to confirm the critical importance of communication provided by leaders to their team members. The literature review will focus on the existing communication flows within organizations and the current research results and insights in the field of leadership communication, which is a new, emerging domain of study. Thanks to recent quantitative research (Men, 2014b), it has been already confirmed that leadership communication has a direct effect on employee-organization relationships and overall internal communication. However, qualitative research has been suggested for validation of how the discovered model works in concrete environments (Men, 2014b). Thus, the research section will reveal the findings of in-depth semi-structured interview analysis within a global internal IT services provider which is part of a Group enterprise operating in the logistics industry world-wide. The thesis will culminate in defining logical reasoning for adding communication skills to the company's core competencies for organizational managers and leaders.
