In fact, we demonstrate the theorem in a more general version, namely in the context of linear cocycles. The theorem of Oseledets for diffeomorphisms will be established as a special case of this version.

Teorias de 2-gauge e o invariante de Yetter na construção de modelos com ordem topológica em 3-dimensões / 2-gauge theories and the Yetter\'s invariant on the construction of models with topological order in 3-dimensions

Hudson Kazuo Teramoto Mendonça 29 June 2017 (has links)
Topological order describes phases of matter that cannot be described only by the symmetry breaking theory of Landau. In 2-dimensions topological order is characterized, among other properties, by the presence of a ground state degeneracy that is robust to arbitrary local perturbations. With the purpose of understanding what characterizes and classify 3-dimensional topological order this works presents an exactly soluble quantum model in 3-dimensions that generalize 2-dimensional models constructed using gauge theories. In the model we propose the gauge group is replaced by a 2-group. The Hamiltonian, that is given by a sum of local commuting operators, is frustration free. We prove that the ground state degeneracy of this model is given by the Yetters invariant of the 4-dimensional manifold Sigma × S¹, where Sigma is the 3-dimensional manifold the model is defined.

In this work we present the classical and quantum solutions of two classes of time-dependent harmonic oscillators, namely: (a) the log-periodic and (b) the Caldirola-Kanai-type oscillators. For class (a) we study the following oscillators: (I) $m(t)=m_0frac{t}{t_0}$, (II) $m(t)=m_0$ and (III) $m(t)=m_0ajust{frac{t}{t_0}}^2$. In all three cases $omega(t)=omega_0frac{t_0}{t}$. For class (b) we study the Caldirola-Kanai oscillator (IV)where $omega(t)=omega_0$ and $m(t)=m_0 ext{exp}ajust{gamma t}$ and the oscillator with $omega(t)=omega_0$ and $m(t)=m_0ajust{1+frac{t}{t_0}}^alpha$, for $alpha=2$ (V) and $alpha=4$ (VI). To obtain the classical solution for each oscillator we solve the respective equation of motion and analyze the behavior of $q(t)$, $p(t)$ as well as the phase diagram $q(t)$ vs $p(t)$. To obtain the quantum solutions we use a unitary transformation and the Lewis and Riesenfeld quantum invariant method. The wave functions obtained are written in terms of a function ($ ho$) which is solution of the Milne-Pinney equation. Futhermore, for each system we solve the respective Milne-Pinney equation and discuss how the uncertainty product evolves with time.

In this thesis, we prove estimates for the volume and boundary area of stable hypersurfaces ∑n-1 with nonpositive Yamabe invariant satisfying the free boundary condition in a Riemannian manifold Mn with bounds for the scalar curvature and the mean curvature of the boundary. Assuming further that ∑ is locally volume-minimizing in a manifold M with scalar curvature bounded below by a nonpositive constant, we conclude that locally M splits along ∑ as (-Є, Є)x ∑, for some Є > 0. In the case that ∑ locally minimizes a certain functional inspired by the work of Yau (2001), a neighborhood of ∑ in M is isometric to ((-Є, Є) x ∑, dt2 + e2tg), where g is Ricci at. In the second part, we study other scalar curvature rigidity phenomena adapting a technique developed by MÃximo e Nunes (2013) to show a local rigidity result for three-dimensional Riemannian manifold M3 whose scalar curvature is bounded from below by a negative constant. We prove the following result: Let ∑2 ⊂ M3 be a stable minimal surface which locally maximizes the Hawking mass on M. Then M near ∑ is a piece of one the Kottler space.

Um invariante para sistemas com integral primeira Morse-Bott / A invariant for systems with a Morse-Bott first integral

Ingrid Sofia Meza Sarmiento 16 August 2011 (has links)
Bolsinov em [4] / In this dissertation are studied differential systems with a Morse-Bott first integral defined on compact orientable surfaces. For each system, under the conditions described above, is associated a graph so that the correspondence between graphs and the orbital topological equivalence classes of the systems are bijective. Therefore, we present a complete invariant, called here Bott graph for this class of systems. This approach has emerged as an initiative to generalize the study to systems Hamiltonian with one degree of freedom having a Morse first integral in 2-dimensional compact surfaces, where the concepts of atoms and gradient flows were applied by A.V. Bolsinov in [4]

Construção de uma teoria quântica dos campos topológica a partir do invariante de Kuperberg / Construction of a Topological Quantum Field Theory from the Kuperberg Invariant

Anderson Alves da Silva 28 September 2015 (has links)
Abstract In this work we present in detail a construction of a topological quantum field theory (TQFT). We can define a TQFT as a symmetric monoidal functor from cobordism categories to category of vector spaces. In two dimension, we can give a complete description of cobordism categories and classify all TQFT\'s. In three dimension it is possible to extend some specific 3-manifold invariants and to construct a TQFT 3D. Our construction is based on the Kuperberg 3-manifold invariant which involves Heegaard diagrams and Hopf algebras. We start with the presentation of the Kuperberg invariant defined for every orientable compact 3-manifold without boundary. For each finite-dimensional Hopf algebra we can construct a invariant. Finally we presente the TQFT associated with the Kuperberg invariant. This is made using the fact that the Kuperberg invariant is defined like a sum of local weights in the same way as a partition function. The TQFT is constructed from the operators given by manifolds with boundary.

Indoor location estimation using a wearable camera with application to the monitoring of persons at home / Localisation à partir de caméra vidéo portée

Dovgalecs, Vladislavs 05 December 2011 (has links)
Visual lifelog indexing by content has emerged as a high reward application. Enabled by the recent availability of miniaturized recording devices, the demand for automatic extraction of relevant information from wearable sensors generated content has grown. Among many other applications, indoor localization is one challenging problem to be addressed. Many standard solutions perform unreliably in indoors conditions or require significant intervention. In this thesis we address from the perspective of wearable video camera sensors using an image-based approach. The key contribution of this work is the development and the study of a location estimation system composed of diverse modules, which perform tasks ranging from low-level visual information extraction to final topological location estimation with the aid of automatic indexing algorithms. Within this framework, important contributions have been made by efficiently leveraging information brought by multiple visual features, unlabeled image data and the temporal continuity of the video.Early and late data fusion were considered, and shown to take advantage of the complementarities of multiple visual features describing the images. Due to the difficulty in obtaining annotated data in our context, semi-supervised approaches were investigated, to use unlabeled data as additional source of information, both for non-linear data-adaptive dimensionality reduction, and for improving classification. Herein we have developed a time-aware co-training approach that combines late data-fusion with the semi-supervised exploitation of both unlabeled data and time information. Finally, we have proposed to apply transformation invariant learning to adapt non-invariant descriptors to our localization framework. The methods have been tested on controlled publically available datasets to evaluate the gain of each contribution. This work has also been applied to the IMMED project, dealing with activity recognition and monitoring of the daily living using a wearable camera. In this context, the developed framework has been used to estimate localization on the real world IMMED project video corpus, which showed the potential of the approaches in such challenging conditions.

Homomorfismos de grafos / Graph Homomorphisms

Cristiane Maria Sato 25 April 2008 (has links)
Graph homomorphisms are functions from the vertex set of a graph to the vertex set of another graph that preserve adjacencies. The study of graph homomorphisms is very broad, and there are several lines of research about this topic. In this dissertation, we present results about graph homomorphisms related to convergence of graph sequences and connection matrices of graph parameters. This line of research has been proved to be very rich, not only for its results, but also for the proof techniques. In particular, we highlight the diversity of mathematical tools used, including classical results from Algebra, Probability and Analysis.

Nonequilibrium stationary states of rotor and oscillator chains / États stationnaires hors-équilibre de chaînes de rotateurs et oscillateurs

Iacobucci, Alessandra 20 October 2017 (has links)
We study the properties of stationary states associated with nonequilibrium dynamics from a theoretical and a numerical point of view. These dynamics are obtained by perturbing equilibrium dynamics with mechanical and / or thermal forcings. In the theoretical approach, the system considered evolves according to a Langevin dynamics perturbed by a torque. In this framework, we study the convergence of the law of dynamics to the stationary measure, giving quantitative estimates of the exponential rate, both in the Hamiltonian and `` overdamped '' regimes.By a numerical approach, we consider a chain of rotors subjected to both forcings and a chain of Toda oscillators subject to a thermal forcing and a stochastic perturbation. We study the features of the stationary state and analyze its transport properties. In particular, in the case of the rotor chain, contrary to what is naively expected, we observe that the average energy current is in some cases increased by an opposite temperature gradient.
