Spegel, Spegel på väggen där : spegeln som inredningsobjekt under den gustavianska tiden och under funktionalismen / Mirror, Mirror on the wall : the Mirror as an interior object during the gustavian period and during the functionalistic period in Sweden

Tendal, Tora January 2011 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to examine how mirrors were hung and used in decorating a room during the gustavian period (1770-1810) and the functionalistic period (1930-1939) in Sweden. I have compared the two styles and the way of decorating with mirrors. Based on the comparison I deduced the differences and similarities. The material which the thesis is based on are three drawings and one painting depicting four gustavian rooms containing mirrors. To illustrate the functionalistic period I used four photos from the catalogue from the Stockholm exhibition in 1930. To explain the context this thesis also contains a discussion of the mirrors technical history and the frame designs during the two periods. The questions I raised at the beginning of the thesis is how and were has the mirror been placed and is there a specific reason for this? Are there distinct differences between the two periods in how they decorated with mirrors? The results of my analysis shows that mirrors are often placed between two windows on the centre of the wall during the gustavian period. The functionalistic decorators on the other hand usually placed the mirrors a bit of centre on the walls. Differences between the two styles become apparent when looking at the way mirrors were used. In the early period the mirrors were a decorative element and a show piece with high status. Later it became just a necessary and useful object with a low status as it became more common.

Johansson, Hanna-Lisa January 2011 (has links)
This essay studies the meaning of cultural values that was taking place in the process of building the restaurant called “Byttan” in 1939 and the art museum of Kalmar in 2008. Analyzing documents from the both processes has been a main thing. With help from a theory of values in culture heritage, by Axel Unnerbäck, the essay analyze the values and the documents to see if the both processes have been equal or if there has been any difference. The main thing of the essay is to see the differences between the two centuries.

Lillan är ingen vanlig flicka : En semiotisk analys av genusframställan i Sveriges Televisions julkalendrar 1996 och 2007 / Lillan is not an ordinary girl : - An semiotic analysis of genderdescription in children's programme 1996 and 2007

Dyrager, Malin January 2009 (has links)

Nytt blod, gamla bilder : Visuell våldsgestaltning i film och spel / New blood, old images : Depictions of violence in films and digital games

Ljungqvist, Martin January 2005 (has links)
<p>The paper discusses and analyzes differences and similarities in depictions of violence in the two narrative media of films and games. The work is based on existing theories on representation, remediation, narration and immersion – theories which are further developed and discussed by the author. The movies Man on Fire and Kill Bill, as well as the games Ninja Gaiden and Grand Theft Auto are analyzed and used as examples of how depictions of violence in films and games can or should be studied. Also, the possibilities for development of the theories used in the paper are considered. Further discussed are, among other issues, the recognition of the different media as ways to achieve political ends – and the use of stereotype and archetypical narrative elements in relation to more or less concerned attitudes towards violence and depictions of violence.</p> / <p>I uppsatsen diskuteras och analyseras skillnader och likheter mellan användandet av våldsgestaltning i de två narrativa och visuella medierna film och spel.

: – förändringar i basutställningar om forntiden 1972-2005 / A new prehistory? : – Changes in permanent exhibitions about prehistoric times 1972-2005

Odengrund, Anna January 2006 (has links)
<p>The purpose with this thesis is to study how the arranging of archaeological objects in permanent exhibitions has changed over time. To find out about this I have been analysing three museums with prehistorical permanent exhibitions. The exhibition at Statens Historiska museum was produced in 2005, Nationalmuseum in Köpenhamn was produced in 1972 with additions from 1988 and 1995 and, finally, Malmö Museer exhibition which was produced in 1977. These exhibitions have been compared to analyse developments during the last 30 years. The result shows that there are different ideals within the exhibitions. Over time, these ideals have been focused more on the visitors and they have tried to appeal to the visitors through themes where the objects have been placed into a narrative. However there are many styles of exhibiting prevalent today that go back all the way to the beginning of the 20th century.</p> / <p>Uppsatsens syfte är att ta reda på hur sättet att ställa ut arkeologiska föremål i basutställningar har förändrats över tid.

Wallin, Kerstin January 2007 (has links)
<p>Because of the mass tourism industry that exploits sensitive locations all over our planet a new kind of tourism came into focus in the 1980’s. This new form of tourism was named ecotourism, and as the name reveals ecotourism deals with low-impact travel. Today, all sorts of places can be gazed upon in a flick of a switch; all you need is a television set. It is well known that destination marketing successfully uses visual media as a tool to sell trips to potential tourists. Therefore, this essay examines how ecotourism benefits from the great power of the television. The analyzed material contains of six different TV shows, sorted into two groups – travel shows and discussion programs. With the theory of the tourist gaze, semiotics, destination marketing and the experience economy the study resulted in the conclusion that all TV shows are built upon collective cultural representations found in the exotic and the authentic. With the help of the visual language, travel shows can give new meaning to a specific destination expressed in a system of mutual understanding and shared culture.</p>

Cöster, Marie January 2009 (has links)

Karlsson, Emil, Nilsson, Lina January 2010 (has links)
<p>Today, the TV vignette is considered an embellishment to a TV program, despite its broad audiences and unique appearance. We wanted to find out if the television vignette has some common features and conventions but also find out how it relates to genre. We used a case study where we analyzed ten vignettes that we chose from certain criteria. We used a model based on image analysis that we modified to fit our needs. The main parts of each model consisted semiotics, imagery, dramaturgy and sound. We also made a couple of interviews with people who are active or used to work with vignettes. As a result we discovered that the television vignettes consist of certain conventions and that the vignette will not be considered as an independent genre, until the public has accepted it. However, we found that the vignette has common features and conventions that could fit into the established art form Motion Graphics. We see, however, that the vignette has the potential, thanks to digitization, to evolve and become a kind of its own.Today, the TV vignette is considered an embellishment to a TV program, despite its broad audiences and unique appearance.
