Hranice – redefinice městské struktury / Hranice – redefinition of urban structureMokrá, Lucie January 2019 (has links)
Hranice na Moravě is Middletown, which is situated in the middle of protected natural territory. Because surrounded area of the town is consisting of smaller villages, we can find Hranice as local important catchment point of region, what means local centre of business and services, culture and education and work opportunities as well. However, this prediction is not real. Even though there are several equipment’s of education, witch product new graduates and potential residents of Hranice every year as well, there is deurbanisation and social and cultural decline because of low diversity of labour market and bad urbanistic strategy of development. In my project I design Centre of Craft. This Centre is reaction on nowaday‘s issues of low level quality of Crafts in Czech Republic and anachronistic bad general opinion about craftsmanship. Centre of Craft constitutes opportunities for students and graduates of local secondary schools with craft‘s subjects, for small tradesmen as start-up and for public as public workshop as well.

Career trajectories of Masters in Education (M.Ed.) students : a tracer study of the M.Ed. class of 1999 at the University of the Witwatersrand.Sing, Rinel 20 June 2011 (has links)
The expansion of higher education and changes in the labour markets seem to have reached a point where training for an M.Ed is affected by a number of issues traditionally raised in the context of graduate employment and work. Growing emphasis is placed on general skills and flexibility, which is briefly mentioned in this report. Labour market theory, human capital development, social capital and career development are explored in detail. Management is no longer perceived in terms of maintaining the business machine but is evolving into a motivator and leader of staff, an inspirational entity that is quintessential to the retention of highly qualified staff . This has resulted in the language of business changing, thus the „efficient company‟ has become a „learning organisation‟ (Germishuys, 2006). Therefore it is of great interest to actually conduct a case study of 11 M.Ed. graduates to track their career trajectories to see where this prestigious qualification has taken them. The researcher traces a general group of M.Ed graduates from the class of 1999 from the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits). The main idea of this study is to ascertain exactly what it is that the sample M.Ed graduates have accomplished in their professional lives. It was found that the colour of one‟s skin, background, contextual factors, opportunities, social networking and career aspirations have played a pivotal role in the career progression of the M.Ed. graduates.

Challenges Encountered by Immigrant Dentists while Integrating into the Swedish Labour MarketAlsaghir, Rana January 2023 (has links)
Swedish workforce has a shortage of practitioner dentists in 18 regions which is expected to last until 2035 (Hall Hoppe, 2022). At the same time, immigrant dentists face many challenges that delay or prevent their integration into the Swedish labour market. This paper investigates the process of immigrant dentists’ integration into the Swedish labour market, what obstacles they encounter, and in their perception, what are the requirements to facilitate their integration into the Swedish labour market. This research paper followed a qualitative method to achieve its aims. In order to obtain the necessary data to conduct the research, in-depth interviews were performed with immigrant dentists who received their education in countries outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland. The main empirical findings reveal the need to transform immigrant dentists' human capital. In light of this, immigrant dentists need to choose one of two routes to be eligible to apply for the Swedish dental license, due to the devaluation of their education. Besides the need to master the Swedish language. There is a lack of support provided for the two routes for acquiring the Swedish dental license. The participants clarify that they need more support in both routes. The Knowledge Exams route lacks guidance, materials, and financial support. while the complementary courses route is limited to three cities which makes it challenging forimmigrant dentists to join if they live in a city that does not offer these courses. It also showed the importance of social connections in the licensing process, while it was not essential in the process of obtaining a job. This study informs policymakers and concerned stakeholders about the barriers and challenges immigrant dentists encounter when integrating into the Swedish labour market. Which contributes to making decisions that will help to facilitate immigrantdentists’ integration into the Swedish labour marke.

Finding the Perfect Fit : A Study of Person-Organisation Fit Between Generation Z and EmployersColliander, Ellen, Olsson, Evelina January 2023 (has links)
This thesis explores the conditions for perception of a person-organisation (P-O) fit between Generation Z (Gen Z) and employers in a talent acquisition context. The study is based on the presumption that the perception the candidate gets of the employer is based on the employer’s brand and vice versa. To explore these two actors' brands, personal- as well as organisational attributes identified in a literature review were used and a mixed method was adopted. The employer brand of six audit and accounting services firms and what they value in a future employee was explored through semi structured interviews. Furthermore, the personal brand of Gen Z business students and graduates and what they value in a future employer was explored through a questionnaire with 157 respondents. Based on the data, a discussion on the subject of P-O fit was conducted. Overall the results of the study both support previous research and add to it. The results indicate favourable conditions for Gen Z to perceive a P-O fit towards employers regarding four of the six identified organisational attributes. Additionally, favourable conditions were indicated regarding employers to perceive a P-O fit towards Gen Z regarding four of the seven personal attributes identified.

WHY IMMIGRANTS WANT TO LEAVE CANADA: THE STRUGGLE OF CANADIAN UNIVERSITY GRADUATE IMMIGRANTS IN THE LABOUR MARKETUzair, Ambreen January 2014 (has links)
The purpose of this paper is to explore the personal, cultural and structural experiences and barriers faced by highly skilled Canadian university graduate immigrants regarding finding a good job related to their qualification in the labour market, and how this struggle has shaped their lives. Data was collected through individuals by semi-structured questionnaires. Interviews were the deep source of skilled immigrants’ experiences and problems they have faced in the labour market. Applying the critical race theory perspective and using the Thompson PCS Model as investigating tool, this study sought to capture the participants’ reality. The findings suggest that immigrants are facing many structural and systemic barriers and racial discrimination in the labour market. It is affecting them not only individually but also affecting their families and because of that these skilled immigrants have a plan to leave Canada for better job opportunities because even after graduating from Canadian universities they were unable to find work according to their field of study and work experience.
Major themes emerging from this research include: why skilled immigrants pursued more education if they were already graduated from their home countries; immigration policies and labour market policies mismatch; non-recognition of immigrants credentials and work experience; inadequate settlement services; racial discrimination in job market; and what difference they feel before and after graduating from Canadian university in finding a job. / Thesis / Master of Social Work (MSW)

Studie- och yrkesvägledares väg in på arbetsmarknaden - Student guidance counsellors transition to labour marketBresche Hellström, Emma, Pitkänen, Sanna January 2017 (has links)

Labour Demand Composition and Wage Responses in a Transition to a Clean Economy : A Case Study on the EU ETSBoksebeld, Jeroen January 2023 (has links)
This thesis studies the effect on labour demand of a transition from an unconstrained economy featuring a ’clean’ and a ’dirty’ production method towards a fully clean economy, using a simplified General Equilibrium model. This model is calibrated to the European Union Emission Trading System (EUETS) and features a linear decline in a cap placed on the dirty production method. After simulating the trajectory set by the EU ETS, this study finds that wages are expected to increase by 11.68% over the transition period in the baseline scenario. This result is found to hold qualitatively both for steeper transitions and wide ranges of the elasticity of substitution and consumer preference in consumption, as long as clean productivity growth is sufficientand the consumer is either indifferent or favours the clean consumption good. The minimum level of clean productivity growth needed to achieve a long-runincrease in wages is found to be slightly below 2% per year, even when the cap on dirty production faces a steeper decline.

Återintegrering integrering av före detta dömda i samhället : En kvalitativ studie om före detta dömdas möjligheter och svårigheter att återintegreras i samhälletYusuf, Sahal, Le, Tuan January 2022 (has links)
This study focuses on opportunities and difficulties for ex-convicts who want to leave the criminal lifestyle behind and to reintegrate into society. The most effective way of staying out of criminality is getting employment. But with today's stigmatisation of ex-convict in the labour market it is challenging for them to even get an interview or an employment. Because of this it leaves them no choice for them but to continue on the criminal pathway. In this study we will be interviewing employers of organisations who work with ex-convicts who want to leave that lifestyle behind them. What challenges are ahead of the ex-convicts, what setbacks they may meet and how they can help ex-convicts to be appealing in the labour market. The results show us that if the ex-criminals are committed enough they can definitely turn their life around and get employment. With the help of organisations who specialise in helping ex-convicts finding employment there is definitely a way. These organisations also help and guide them to live a drug and criminal free lifestyle to help them not recidivism.

Akademiska studier - En väg in på arbetsmarknaden?Lassing Johansson, Seth, Stensson, Carl January 2014 (has links)
Our society has become a society of knowledge. The answer to the question of how to reduce unemployment has become more and more unified: education. In this case, higher education, meaning college and university. With this disposition in our society, how does it affect the students? How does this change of society and our universities affect the students of these institutions? In this study we have chosen to examine the choices of students in universities in several Swedish cities. We wanted to compare choices students made from educations which lead to a professional degree and students who were undertaking studies from a higher-education course which were not attached to a professional degree. We sent surveys to six different programs and courses, three from each category.Because our examination paper concerned choices we used rational choice as a concept and we were also interested in how the students social class interacted with the choices they made. We also used Bourdieu’s idea of habitus, along with his concept of field and capital. The results we uncovered showed us that social class played little part in how students made their choices. We could also see that most of the students from the professionally attached educations were more inclined to have employment as the main reason for studying. The students who studied higher education course were not as high in this opinion but still in a majority. The results also showed that to get educated in their field, to get the proper knowledge required were less important than just getting the job. This points to a risk that students in our society will, to a greater extent than before, only use education as a stepping stone for employment. The knowledge gained will not be as important as the employment that comes after. Knowledge will in this way take a second place to employment and if this trend continue maybe educations made for knowledge and not employment will be seen as unnecessary.

Perceptions of the Future on St. Lucia’s Labour Market - Eight female and male C.A.R.E.-trainees’ perceptions of future career possibilitiesIngemansson, Louise January 2017 (has links)
In the Caribbean, the structures of the countries’ labour markets and a lack of relevant skills or experience are some of the mentioned causes of unemployment among young adults. At the Centre for Adolescent and Renewal Education (C.A.R.E.) in St. Lucia, the trainees aim is, by learning a practical skill, not to become part of the country’s unemployment rate. The purpose with this study is to examine eight C.A.R.E.-trainees’ perceptions of their future and what capitals they find important for personal and career possibilities. The purpose is also to study if there are differences or similarities between the male and female trainees’ perception of the labour market in St. Lucia. The study is built on three questions; “What kind of career goals do the trainees have?”, “What capitals do the trainees view as important for future career possibilities?” and “What differences and similarities are there between the female and the male trainees’ perception of St. Lucia’s labour market?”. The study is built on a qualitative method, based on eight participants, four female and four men aged 18 to 21. The result shows that the majority have a career goal common to their gender and that they think it is important to have good personal characteristics and a skill for future career possibilities. Their similar perception of St. Lucia’s labour market is that it is rough, that it is hard to get a job. The male trainees had a more macro-levelled perspective since they talked about how important it is to have a social and symbolic capital in St. Lucia’s labour market, while the female trainees discussed the meaning of the job-interview. The trainees’ negative perception of St. Lucia has made them, especially the male trainees, want to move to another country.
