[en] A STUDY FOR SHARING LEARNING OBJECTS IN MULTIMEDIA DATABASE / [pt] UM ESTUDO PARA O COMPARTILHAMENTO DE OBJETOS DE APRENDIZADO EM BANCO DE DADOS MULTIMÍDIAKONSTANTIN KURIZKY 30 June 2004 (has links)
A crescente
textos. Este material é normalmente armazenado pelos
instrutores sem maiores preocupações quanto ao
compartilhamento. Como membro do projeto PGL (Partnership in
Global Learning) - uma organização virtual voltada para
pesquisa, desenvolvimento e disseminação do aprendizado
federado.
[en] This work presents a proposal to utilize database
technology for storing and managing learning objects in a
database federation (distributed database). The evolution
of e-learning has brought the focus over the productivity
to make and to manage the content of learning modules,
which today comprises videos, audio, among other related
data, besides the text data. Instructors normally store this
material without worry about sharing. As a member of PGL -
Partnership in Global Learning - a virtual organization for
research, development and dissemination of learning through
new technologies - TecBD - the PUC-Rio`s Database
Laboratory is researching the use of database approach for
managing learning objects stored on interconnected sites
composing a heterogeneous distributed database environment.
This work intends: 1) using market ready DB products; 2)
adopting the actual standards for defining of learning
objects; 3) considering learning objects stored on
separated and autonomous sites; 4) to develop an
application (a study case) with these learning objects. The
learning object`s model establishes a structure for
composing learning objects by linking atomic elements and
also linking composed elements. Different approaches as
Web Services, Java/Servlets and Web Application Servers
were considered for the geographically distributed problem.
A study case was build using the product IBM DB2 with the
provided extenders for audio, video, image, XML data and the
Federated System Support. The web browser`s explore of the
stored data was build using the IBM Net.Data software.
Although not exclusive, it provided an easy way to perform
this task and also enabled an easy integration with IBM DB2
and its extenders.

The development of reusable online learning resources for instructional design students based on the principles of learning objectsAl-Shehri, Abdullah Mohammed January 1900 (has links)
Doctor of Philosophy / Department of Secondary Education / Diane McGrath / The purpose of this research and development study was to design, develop, evaluate and revise reusable online learning resources based on the principles of learning objects that would support instructional design students' learning and performance in the context of ATC in Saudi Arabia.
Using a research and development model (Borg and Gall, 1989), Instructional Design reusable online learning resources (ID-RORs) were iteratively and collaboratively developed and revised based on feedback gathered through formative evaluation. Between each round of qualitative formative evaluation, the ID-RORs were revised based on analysis of the data. Seven main research and development phases were carried out: research and information collecting, a needs assessment, prototype development, expert evaluations, redesign, target user evaluations and redesign.
The formative evaluation of ID-RORs consisted of three phases. The first evaluation group was comprised of four experts. The purpose of this evaluation was to conduct a needs assessment. The second phase, which used feedback from two experts and two instructional design teachers, was the expert evaluation. The purpose of this evaluation was to examine the validity of the ID-RORs. The third phase, based on feedback from 11 students, was the user evaluation. The purpose of this evaluation was to examine the practicality of the ID-RORs.
The overall results of the needs assessment evaluation showed that the ID-RORs prototype met an important need at ATC. The overall result of the expert evaluation showed that the ID-RORs prototype were valid for the context of ATC. Finally, the result of target user evaluation showed that the ID-RORs as revised with expert and user input were practical for the intended target users. Based on the results of this R & D study, it was concluded that the answer to the research question is yes, it is possible to develop the ID-RORs to meet the specifications of the needs assessment. The characteristics of ID-RORs are very similar to the characteristics of successful (valid and practical) reusable online resources. The final version of the ID-RORs were found to be needed, valid and practical, in the context of ATC.

Utilização de objetos de aprendizagem para melhoria da qualidade do ensino de hierarquia de memória / Use of learning objects to improve the quality of the memory hierarchyFernando Tiosso 24 March 2015 (has links)
The teaching and learning of memory hierarchy are not simple tasks, because many subjects that are covered in theory may demotivate learning because of its complexity. This Master\'s thesis presents the process of transformation of the cache memory module of Amnesia tool in a learning object, aiming to facilitate the construction of knowledge by simulating the structure and functionality of memory hierarchy of von Neumann architecture in a more practice and didactic way. This process allowed existing features in the tool to be adequate and new features developed. In addition, lesson plans and questionnaires of assessment and usability have also been designed, validated and implemented and a tutorial to describe the operation of the new object was developed. Experimental studies have examined two aspects: the first, if the learning object improved, in fact, the students\' learning in the subject cache memory; the second, students\' opinions regarding the use of the object. After the analysis and evaluation of the results obtained in the experiments, was possible show an evolution in learning when it made the use of the object, and also to perceive that students\' motivation to use other learning objects increased.

Ensino de conceitos físicos no ensino médio e as contribuições dos objetos de aprendizagem / Teaching physical concepts in middle school and the contributions of learning objects.Nunes, Eliana dos Reis 15 April 2011 (has links)
This research investigated the contributions of learning objects and their potential in the appropriation of physical concepts by students in the 2nd grade of High School, who study in a public school in the Distrito Federal. The qualitative methodology and recourses used during this research are based, for a complete analysis, on the Theory of Meaningful Learning by Ausubel and also on Novaks conceptual maps, taking the students prior knowledge as a starting point. This investigation was divided into distinct stages, where learning objects were used (simulation/animation/video) in the computer laboratory to introduce the physical concepts of dilation, waves and the formation of colors. The students fulfillment of the proposed activities (informative questionnaire on the students profile; observation of their ability with a computer and of information technology; their interaction with the learning objects; conceptual mapping) supplied the raw material for the analytical interpretation and understanding of the aims of this research. Significant changes in the acquisition of physical concepts were noted in part of the students researched. The motivation to learn, provoked by the proposed activities, by the use of the learning objects and by the classes in the computer laboratory, were the variables responsible for the results attained. The action of introducing physical concepts using learning objects was considered in the High School student group, who are the subject matter of this study. In relation to meaningful learning, it can be said that the integration of the characteristics of Ausubels theory, with the use of learning objects, as previous organizers for teaching and learning of physics content, contributed to the development and expansion of opportunities for the building of physical knowledge which makes sense to, and is meaningful to, the students. And the use of conceptual mapping strategy proved important in teaching evaluation process.

AdaptMLearning: a proposal of intelligent and adaptive learning system.Oliveira, Ivan Carlos Alcântara de 15 May 2013 (has links)
Intelligent and Adaptive Learning Systems, subject of recent research in the world, are environments with specific architectures and algorithms, designed considering the individual characteristics of each student. The rapid development of wireless infrastructures and wide use of mobile devices in people\'s everyday life encourage research about the use of these devices in education, providing the mlearning. In the context of such research, this work proposes the AdaptMLearning architecture that was designed to be a learning infrastructure for mobile and nonmobile platforms. This architecture provides a selection of learning objects that takes into account as adaptation criteria the following data: the mobile device\'s technological specification; the student\'s learning style information, his/her performance and spent time associated to the student\'s interaction with the learning object; previously acquired knowledge by the student related to the course\'s content. In addition, it also allows the teacher to interfere in the adaptation criteria used during the study simulation, and allows the student to indicate his/her preferences for media types. This architecture is based on AHAM reference model for adaptive systems AEHS and uses the quadruple: the knowledge space, the user model, the observations and the model adaptation, referring to the logical definition of these systems. To implement the AdaptMLearning architecture some algorithms using the FSLSM model related to the student\'s learning styles were developed. The algorithms use the IEEE 1484 for cataloging learning objects and some of its categories and attributes associated with dimensions of learning styles FSLSM model, are used to compute a weight of an object in each dimension allowing a search of the most appropriate object according to the student\'s learning styles; and the use of fuzzy computing, considering that the student\'s learning style can change, determines if the student has to receive reinforcement or need a new study in a particular subject of a course, when the student gets unsatisfactory results in terms of timing and performance in a course\'s subject. Also, this work also presents the development and evaluation of a simulator for the AdaptMLearning architecture and their algorithms. The evaluation of the simulator was done by means of many simulations scenarios, considering students, courses and technologies with different settings. Based on the results obtained from the evaluation it was possible to discuss, analyze and identify the potential use of AdaptMLearning architecture and their algorithms in a real situation for developing a learning environment or its aggregation to an existing environment.

Convergência digital de objetos de aprendizagem Scorm /Rodolpho, Everaldo Rodrigo. January 2009 (has links)
Abstract: The construction of Learning Objects (LOs) is an important process for distance education. Standards have been defined with metadata structures to enhance the reutilizability and portability of LOs, such as SCORM, LOM, ARIADNE, among others. The portability between different systems of e-Learning requires expert knowledge. The difficulty increases when different digital media and communication environments are used, for example: Web and Open Digital TV (ODTV) - an alternative means of access to education that is being integrated into daily life of Brazilians. In this context, the main goal of this work was to investigate a new model for implementation of LOs (OAX) with portability to Web and ODTV environments. The model was defined based on the SCORM standard and was based on metadata and base64 encoding. The architecture of an authoring system (SOAX) was proposed for the creation and management of LOs, according to the OAX model. SOAX is a Web application and is composed of four components for: encapsulation of the OAX content atom, content storage, applications of viewing/management of content and APIs (Application Programming Interface) for import and export LOs for standards formats. The SOAX system was designed for educators with basic knowledge of computer. So they could concentrate efforts on didactic-pedagogic aspects of the LOs. The system automatically converts the LOs for the formats of the LOs standards and ODTV environments. A beta version of SOAX is available. / Mestre

[en] MODELING LEARNING OBJECTS COMPOSITION / [pt] MODELAGEM DE COMPOSIÇÃO DE OBJETOS DE APRENDIZAGEMDIVA DE SOUZA E SILVA 12 July 2006 (has links)
reutilização do conteúdo.
denominados Objetos Componentes (OCs). Para a
estruturação
do conteúdo,
adaptou-se uma proposta já existente e definiu-se um
esquema conceitual
conceituais desenvolvidos, do
[en] The development of instructional content using new
Information
Technologies is an expensive, time-consuming and complex
process that leads to
the development of new methodologies. It was in this
context that the concept of
Learning Objects (LOs) was proposed as an approach that
promotes content reuse.
However, if content is expressed as small LOs, it is also
necessary to sequence
them in order to build more elaborated and complex
content. In this thesis we
adopt a strategy to represent smaller LOs, modeling not
only content but also
practice, called Component Objects (COs) herein. In order
to structure content we
adapted an existing proposal and defined a conceptual
schema to structure
learning practices (or activities). We also defined a
conceptual schema for
composing these COs. Then, based on these conceptual
schemas it was possible to
propose an algorithm for sequencing COs, which supports a
teacher/professor to
better control the implementation of a complex content
such as a class or a course,
thus reducing errors and eventual omissions in its
implementation. The
sequencing process must follow a methodology and must be
specified in a nonambiguous
way. It is in this context that we also present a
specification language
for sequences of LOs, with a syntax that is adequate to
the description of the
possible ways of sequencing LOs. Finally, we describe a
case study that shows the
conceptual schemas that were proposed and the use of the
sequencing algorithm
and the specification language.
