Endogeneidade da taxa natural de crescimento / Endogeneity of the natural rate of growthLeite, Anna Olimpia de Moura 27 November 2012 (has links)
Following León-Ledesma and Thirlwall (2002), this master\'s thesis aims to examine the sensitivity of the natural growth rate to the actual growth rate for a broad set of countries, based on demand-led growth theory. The main hypothesis being tested is the presence of non-linearities in Okun\'s Law, which means the existence of two natural growth rates, each corresponding to a growth regime. Using annual data over the period 1980-2007 and quarterly data over the period 1980-2011, the results support the idea that natural growth rate is dependent of the actual growth rate when applying LLT\'s methodology. This evidence repeats when establishing exogenously the regimes of growth by using Markov-Switching and threshold autoregressive regression (TAR) for the annual data, however for quarterly data this is less straightforward, having indication of endogenous and exogenous natural growth rate.

Power Disparities and the Structure of Childrearing: A Content Analysis of Bestselling Children's BooksAnderson, Angela M 13 June 2011 (has links)
The lack of sociological research on adult/child stratification in children’s books and the impacts books make in the lives of children and adults, especially in regards to socialization, are important reasons to investigate this medium. Through a conflict and feminist perspective, as well as utilizing a cultural diamond framework, this research examines the representations of power disparities between adults and children, and the structures of childrearing within the cultural object of 64 bestselling children’s picture books from 1993 to 2008. I employed content analysis to evaluate appearances of gender, age, race, parental behaviors, and childrearing structures. My findings demonstrate that gender and age disparities prevail, non-white main characters remain invisible, males as main adult characters exhibit higher rates of parental behaviors, and concerted cultivation child rearing structure is present in illustrations. Future research should focus on other aspects of the cultural diamond to gain deeper knowledge of cultural meanings.

[pt] DESIGUALDADE DE HARNACK GLOBAL PARA OPERADORES ELLÍPTICOS GERAIS NA FORMA DIVERGENTE COM APLICAÇÕES / [en] GLOBAL BOUNDARY WEAK HARNACK INEQUALITY FOR GENERAL UNIFORMLY ELLIPTIC EQUATIONS IN DIVERGENCE FORM AND APPLICATIONSFIORELLA MARIA RENDON GARCIA 02 June 2022 (has links)
[en] This thesis focuses on global extension of the interior weak Harnack
inequality for a general class of divergence-type elliptic equations, under
very weak regularity assumptions on the differential operator. In this way
we generalize and unify all previous results of this type.
As an application, we prove a priori estimates for a class of quasilinear
elliptic problems with quadratic growth on the gradient and we investigate,
under various assumptions, the multiplicity of the solutions obtained for
this problem.

Regularität schwacher Lösungen nichtlinearer elliptischer und parabolischer Systeme partieller Differentialgleichungen mit EntartungWolf, Jörg 31 May 2002 (has links)
In the present work we study the regularity of weak solution to q-elliptic and parabolic systems partial differential equations in appropriate Sobolev spaces in case 1
