Paula Grandini Cunha 23 February 2018 (has links)
A elaboração do website seguiu as etapas: análise e planejamento, modelagem, implementação e avaliação. / This research aimed to evaluate a website with information from the field of Speech Therapy with a focus on Parkinson\'s Disease. A website containing information on the subject was developed with simple, clear and objective language, with concise content, based on books, articles indexed in databases and manuals on the subject. The preparation of the website followed the steps: analysis and planning, modeling, implementation and evaluation. The evaluators were invited to participate in the following categories: elderly (I), caregiver of elderly (CI) and speech therapist (F). The groups completed an online form with information on identification, frequency of internet use and level of education. The sample consisted of 45 participants, the majority being female (64.4%), 15 elderly (mean age 68.13 years), 15 elderly caregivers (mean age 32.20 years), and 15 speech pathologists (average age of 26.13 years). Statistical analysis was performed using the Kruskal-Wallis test and Spearman\'s correlation coefficient. The content of the website was evaluated as \"appropriate\" with higher ranking in sub-menu S4 (84%) and lower in sub-menus S5 and S8 (77%). The comparison between the 3 groups of grades attributed to the content by the Kruskal-Wallis test did not show a statistically significant difference between them in any of the submenus. There was a significant correlation between the speech-language pathologist group in submenu S3, in relation to time (p = 0.006) and age (p = 0.014) with assigned scores. Spearman\'s Correlation Coefficient was negative, implying that the higher the age and the training time of the speech-language pathologist, the lower the scores assigned in submenu S3. It is concluded that the contents prepared based on scientific literature, composing a source website for consultation and complementing reliable information on Parkinson\'s Disease.

The rapid growth of the elderly population leads to increased demand for health services, satisfaction of the elderly is defined as the degree of congruence between the assistance provided by the health team and the reflections of care they received. The research aimed to know the level of satisfaction of elderly hospitalized with nursing care. For such a descriptive, xploratory research was conducted, crosssectional and quantitative approach 102 elderly patients, at least five days in the medical clinic of the University Hospital Presidente Dutra (HUPD) in São Luís, from April to October 2014. Data collection was performed using a questionnaire relating to demographic and economic partners aspects and also the Patient Satisfaction Instrument (PSI). The collected data were entered into spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel® 2010 program; after that, they were imported into a statistical processing software (Stata® - Version 12) in which tables were generated. The study followed the Resolution 466/12 of the National Health Council. The results showed a higher number of elderly men, aged between 60 and 69 years old, married, with up to five years of study, and to a lesser extent had eighteen years or more of schooling, family income between 01-03 times the minimum wage. As for religion, most respondents were Catholic, with a small difference from evangelicals. It was found a good level of satisfaction of elderly with nursing care, and the field of trust with the highest average, followed by the echnical-professional area and the level of overall satisfaction and satisfaction by area, above the midpoint of the Likert Scale . It was identified that satisfaction was significant in the correlation between the fields and variables "sex" and "age" of the elderly. It was found that the elderly were satisfied with the care provided by nursing and the nursing work influence the satisfaction of hospitalized elderly and stressed the importance of a competent performance, through the use of their technical skills, scientific knowledge / O envelhecimento é considerado um processo natural, dinâmico, progressivo e irreversível, pois cada ser vivo envelhece de forma singular.

Dievas elgeta: elgetos vaizdinys lietuvių papročiuose ir mitologijoje / God the beggar: the image of beggar in lithuanian customs and mythology

Džekčioriūtė, Vita 27 June 2014 (has links)
Santrauka Dievas elgeta: elgetos vaizdinys lietuvių papročiuose ir mitologijoje Elgetavimas lietuvių tradicijoje atsiskleidžia kaip ypatingas, ikikrikščioniškosios kultūros bruožų išlaikęs reiškinys. Šiame darbe, pasitelkus istorinius, paprotinius bei pasakojamosios lietuvių tautosakos duomenis, bandoma ištirti šio reiškinio savitumą ir ištakas. Darbe nagrinėjami XIX a. pab. – XX a. pr. Juose atsiskleidžia elgetų svarba ir reikšmė to meto kaimo visuomenėje. Nors elgetos suvokiami kaip tam tikrame socialiniame užribyje esantys asmenys, jie sulaukia daug dėmesio ir pagarbos. Tai ypatingai ryšku su šventėmis susijusiuose papročiuose. Toks savitas elgesys su elgetomis gali būti pagrįstas tiek socialiniu, tiek mitologiniu aspektu. Socialinį aspektą darbe bandoma pagrįsti, duomenų (istorinių šaltinių, tautosakos), susijusių su senosios baltų tradicijos žyniais analize. Ja remiantis, elgetavimas gali būti ta niša, kurioje, tam tikru būdu, galėjo išlikti senosios baltų religinės tradicijos žynių institutas. Mitologinis aspektas grindžiamas elgetos vaizdinio nagrinėjimu lietuvių pasakose ir sakmėse. Jose elgetos vaizdinys neatsiejamas nuo pasakose pasirodančio Dievo Senelio vaizdinio. Nors Dievo Senelio pavidalu pasirodo trys populiarios lietuvių mitologinės dievybės – Perkūnas, Velnias ir Dievas, tačiau su elgetos vaizdiniu daugiausia susijusių duomenų galima aptikti toje pasakų grupėje, kurioje pasirodo po... [toliau žr. visą tekstą] / Summary God the Beggar: the Image of Beggar in Lithuanian Customs and Mythology Begging in the Lithuanian tradition manifests itself as a special phenomenon that has retained the features of pre-Christian culture. This paper attempts to research the peculiarity and origins of this phenomenon by means of historical data as well as data on Lithuanian customs and narrative folklore. The present paper analyses beggar-related daily and festive customs that prevailed in rural Lithuanian during the period between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. The analysis of customs reveals the significance and the importance of beggars to the rural society of that time. Whilst beggars are perceived as certain social outcasts they are treated with much consideration and respect. This is particularly evident in festive customs. Such special behaviour towards beggars may be accounted for by the social and the mythological aspects. The social aspect is underpinned by the analysis of data, such as historical sources and folklore data, which are concerned with magi of the old Baltic tradition. This analysis suggests that begging can be the niche, which in some way could have conserved the “institution” of magi of the old Baltic religious tradition. The mythological aspect is based on researching the image of the beggar in Lithuanian tales and sagas. The image of the beggar is inseparably linked with the image of God the Old Man, which appears in tales. Even though... [to full text]

Reproduction of this sociability and the dominant ideology marks the dominated class, which affects the sale reflects the marginalization and vulnerability of the subject. Emana the need to emancipate the subject, to be aware of the society in which it appears and moves that enable the transformation. In the current social model, we can achieve political emancipation through a training action with emancipatory principles. Education enables the questioning of reality and the instrumentalization from knowledge. In this context we observe the situation of the elderly, such as the difficulties he faced. Discussions about aging are in evidence, since this is a global trend. In Brazil there are 25 million seniors (IBGE, 2013). Although a significant number, there are still prejudices through a negative stereotype of old age. Although they have been implemented public directed to the elderly policies (welfare, health, nutrition and educational processes), in practice have not been guaranteed its effectiveness, however, among the actions prescribed in the Elderly, it highlights the importance of higher education institutions offer educational activities for the elderly which have spread throughout the country. This research is characterized as qualitative, being grounded from the materialist dialectic, and has as its object the educational activities for the elderly developed by projects / courses in Public Institutions of Higher Education Paranaenses. It appears as problematic: The educational programs for the elderly developed by projects / courses Public Paranaenses higher education institutions fulfill their educational function and contribute to political emancipation of the elderly? The objective of the research is to analyze the educational activities for the elderly developed by projects / courses in Public Higher Education Institutions Paranaenses as strategies for political emancipation of the elderly, founded on the concept of lifelong education. The thesis is defended: Educational actions developed by Paraná public IHE through UATI, fulfill their educational function and contribute to the political emancipation of the elderly. The research is based on Furter (1976), Gadotti (1984, 2012), Konder (2009), Marx (2006, 2009, 2011), Mészáros (2006, 2008), Oliveira (1998, 1999) and Tonet (2012, 2013 ). For data collection were questionnaires with open and closed questions for the elderly of the Open University for the Third Age of the state's public higher education institutions, totaling 146 subjects from 7 institutions: UEPG (19 seniors), UNESPAR / Paranagua (18), UNICENTRO / Irati (19), UNICENTRO / Guarapuava (20), UNIOESTE / Foz do Iguaçu (16), UEM (22) and UFPR (32). Questionnaires were applied with open and closed questions for teachers of UATI, totaling 25 subjects 6 educational activities. The teachers of an institution did not respond to the questionnaire. There was also the questionnaires with open and closed questions for the coordinators. 7 of the coordinators of the UATI of the state's public higher education institutions, 5 answered the questionnaire. As a result the research shows that the educational activities for the elderly aim emancipatory processes, even though they have no such name on your goals. Developed work enable the upgrade, self-esteem increase, improvement in quality of life and social inclusion of the elderly. Even with limitations, education for seniors contributes to the awareness of the elderly, can be glimpsed political emancipation from the dialectical relationship between education, man and society.

Fine-scale ecology of alpine patterned ground, Old Man Range, Central Otago, New Zealand

Scott, Matthew B, n/a January 2007 (has links)
This study is an interdisciplinary ecological study addressing the fine-scale relationships between plants, invertebrates and the environment in an alpine ecosystem. Alpine environments are marked by steep environmental gradients and complex habitat mosaics at various spatial scales. Regular forming periglacial patterned ground landforms on the Old Man Range, Central Otago, South Island, New Zealand present an ideal medium for studying plant-invertebrate-environment relationships due to their partitioning of the landscape into discrete units of contrasting environmental conditions, and the existence of some baseline knowledge of the soil, microclimate, vegetation and flora. The study was conducted in three types of patterned ground (hummocks, stripes and solifluction terraces) on the Old Man Range. Each component of the study was sampled at the same spatial scale for comparison. Temperature was recorded in the soil and ground surface from April 2001 to March 2004 in microtopographic subunits (microsites) of each patterned ground landform. Plant species cover was sampled within each microsite; invertebrates were sampled from soil cores taken from the same locations as plant samples in April 2001 and September 2001. The two sampling occasions coincided with autumn before the soil freezes, and winter when maximum freezing was expected. Fine-scale changes in the topographic relief of the patterned ground led to notable differences in the timing and duration of snow. The steepest environmental gradients existed during periods of uneven snow distribution. The soil in exposed or south-facing microsites froze first, beginning in May, and typically froze to more than 40cm depth. Least exposed microsites rarely froze. Within the microtopography, patterns of freezing at specific locations were consistent between years with only minor differences in the timing or depths of freezing; however, notable variation in freezing existed between similar microsites. Within the microtopography, different assemblages of organisms were associated with different microsites. In total, 84 plant and lichen species were recorded, grouping into six community types. Species composition was best explained by growing degree-days, freeze-thaw cycles, time frozen and snow-free days; species diversity and richness increased with increasing environmental stress as indicated by freeze-thaw cycles, time frozen and exposure. In total 20,494 invertebrates, representing four Phyla, 12 Classes, 23 Orders and 295 morpho-taxa were collected from 0.17m of soil. Acari, Collembola and Pseudococcidae were the most abundant invertebrates. Over 95% of the invertebrates were found in the plant material and first 10cm depth of soil. Few significant relationships were found between diversity, richness or abundance of invertebrate taxa and the microsites; however, multivariate analyses identified distinct invertebrate assemblages based on abundance. Invertebrate composition was best explained by recent low temperature and moisture, particularly in winter; however, plant composition also explained invertebrate composition, but more so in autumn. This research has shown that organisms in the alpine environment of the Old Man Range are sensitive to fine-scale changes in their environment. These results have implications as to how historical changes to the ecosystem may have had long-lasting influences on the biota, as well as how a currently changing climate may have further impacts on the composition and distribution of organisms.

The Fictional World of Ernest Hemingway’s The Old Man and The Sea: Emic and Etic Perspectives on its Worldbuilding

Löfström, Alexander January 2024 (has links)
Reading is a past time activity that is popular all around the world. It is something thathelps us escape reality and put our focus elsewhere. When immersing yourself in afictional world, it can be intriguing to think of how it was created. When we think ofworld-building, we think especially of fantasy works such as The Lord of The Rings orSF classics such as Dune takes place. But what about fictional worlds that are closer tothe world known by its readers? Ernest Hemingway based his novel The Old Man andThe Sea on the actual world, which makes it believable and relatable. Most previousstudiesfocus on underlying meanings of the narrative, on metaphors orstylistic choices. It is a novel that is narratively limited to one man and a fish out in the open ocean, butit still feels as if the world surrounding them is vast. Hemingway was known for usinga simple style when creating his fictional worlds and this essay will try to comprehendhow he managed to create such an intricate world by following one simple fishermanand his struggle with the biggest fish of his life. In this essay I will argue that the useof an emic point of view – using the perception of the protagonist Santiago – invitesthe reader to recenter to one point in this vast world, while the occasional intrusion ofan etic perspective establishes a connection between the narrator and reader thatlocalizes Santiago’s point of view.

The Inevitability of Decay: Disability in Ernest Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea

Robin, Dominic 01 January 2018 (has links)
With his suicide in 1961, Ernest Hemingway seemingly cemented into place his legacy as the classic image of the able-bodied, masculine man; he was, to many, the anti-disability writer, the author who lived for ability, lost ability, and took his life once he realized no chance of regaining his ability existed. Such a narrative, however, ignores the truly complicated and dynamic shape his understanding of the body took. Through an analysis of The Old Man and the Sea, I examine the form this ideology of ability took at the end of his life when, like the novella’s protagonist, Santiago, his failing health forced him to focus on the realities of the inevitable failure of his own body. Through the application of research such as David T. Mitchell and Sharon L. Snyder’s theory of narrative prosthesis, Tobin Siebers’ work on the ideology of ability, and Andrew Farah’s research on Hemingway’s declining physical condition, I demonstrate the ways The Old Man and the Sea legitimizes the disabled body, avoiding, in the process, several common narrative tropes such as the overcoming narrative or the kill-or-cure dichotomy and creating a space in which the inevitable decay of the human body must be seriously and honestly addressed. Through this research, a new more nuanced picture of Hemingway emerges, one that recognizes the complicated and dynamic nature his view of the able-bodied individual took.
