Aux XVIIe et XVIIIe siècles, des représentations théâtrales sont régulièrement donnés dans les différents collèges parisiens de plein exercice, les dix attachés à la faculté des arts de l’université de Paris, comme celui tenu par les jésuites (le collège de Clermont devenu Louis-le-Grand), avec un faste et un retentissement variables, où la musique et la danse peuvent prendre une large place. Cette thèse est consacrée aux pratiques musicales et de danses en usage dans ce théâtre collégien. À l'issue d'une recension des représentations (établissement d’un catalogue des représentations et d’un répertoire de sources) et d'une reconstitution de plusieurs fragments musicaux, ce travail envisage l’inscription des scènes collégiennes dans l’espace artistique de la capitale, tout en les replaçant dans les usages pédagogiques de chaque établissement. Les conditions de ces représentations, leur publicité et les nombreux écrits qu’elles génèrent, enfin les acteurs et les milieux professionnels impliqués dans ces spectacles, sont successivement étudiés. La deuxième partie de la thèse est consacrée à un genre remarquable par sa continuité et son prestige, le ballet, l’élément le plus marquant et le plus polémique des spectacles de collège depuis le milieu du XVIIe siècle. Les spécificités du ballet de collège et leurs évolutions au cours de plus d’un siècle de répertoire sont analysées. La scène collégienne parisienne apparaît dès lors comme une interface, où se mêlent des acteurs et des usages chorégraphiques et musicaux de diverses origines et de diverses esthétiques. / During the 17th and 18th centuries, there were regular performances given by Parisian Colleges, the ten belonging to Paris University, and the one held by the Jesuits (College de Clermont, later College Louis-le-Grand), with variable pomp and success, in which music and dance took a significant role. This thesis studies musical practices and dances as part of these performances. A complete catalog of the performances and the preserved sources along with a reconstruction of musical fragments gives an image of the artistic life in these pedagogical institutions in particular and in the Parisian theatrical context of the period. The specific conditions for these performances, the numerous publications (programmes, commentaries, manuscripts, posters, etc.), the actors and their professional environment have been studied. The ballet, with its continuity and prestige, is the subject of the 2nd part of this work. Since the mid-17th century, it holds an important and polemic position within the theatrical performance. The particularities of the college ballet and its century-long evolution are analyzed. The Parisian College Scene appears as a place of multiple assimilations, with actors, chorographic and musical practices from various origins and styles.

De La Place de l’Etoile à L’Horizon, peut-on reconnaître la même « griffe » de Modiano ? D’esprit maniériste et de caractère flamboyant, le premier roman (que son auteur jugera plus tard comme « une espèce de pamphlet ») cède ensuite la place à des œuvres portant plutôt la marque d’un (néo) classicisme. Une rupture serait donc intervenue dans l’écriture de Modiano. Mais à quel moment est apparue cette rupture ? Il est certain que dès le deuxième roman, La Ronde de nuit, le ton a changé. Pourtant La Place de l’Etoile forme avec les deux romans suivants la première trilogie de Modiano, centrée sur de vieilles histoires d’un Paris sous l’Occupation : cette remarque nous invite à nous interroger sur la continuité et la discontinuité dans l’écriture romanesque de Modiano. Fait de ressassements et de variations, le style d'un écrivain présente certains traits saillants facilement repérables. Sans doute, en lisant rétrospectivement tous les romans de Modiano, force est de constater le caractère aberrant de La Place de l’Etoile : pourtant, si l’on fait abstraction de sa parure délirante, ne peut-on pas y repérer déjà certains signes avant-coureurs de l’écriture modianienne ? Le présent travail part d’une étude détaillée de La Place de l’Etoile pour en examiner les éléments romanesques. Nous confronterons ensuite à ce roman les ouvrages postérieurs. En suivant la chronologie de la création romanesque de Modiano, nous repérerons dans son écriture les ressassements, les variations et les ruptures. / From La Place de l’Etoile to L’Horizon, can we recognize the same "signature" of Modiano ? He marked his début with the first novel by a flamboyant character (the author deems later as "a sort of pamphlet"), then the mannerism yield to a (neo) classicism. A break would be intervened in the writing of Modiano. But when does this break occur ? It is certain that from the second novel, La Ronde de nuit, the tone has changed. However, La Place de l’Etoile with La Ronde de nuit and Les Boulevards de ceinture forms the first trilogy, focusing on the German occupation of Paris : this character invites us to examine the continuity and discontinuity in the fictive writing of Modiano. Due to the rehashes and variations, the style of writer has certain strikings features that can be easily identified. There is no doubt, in reading retrospectively all the novels of Modiano, the aberrant nature of La Place de l’Etoile is strident . However, if we abstracte his appearance delirious, isn’t it possible to notice that there exist already several signs of forerunners in the writing of Modiano ? This present research starts from a detailed study of La Place de l’Etoile to examine the “petite musique” of Modiano. We confront this novel with his later works, by following the chronology of his creation, in expectation to identify in his writing the elements of rehashes, variations and breaks.

Previous issue date: 2009 / Resumo: Esta pesquisa analisa a emergência do pensamento sociológico na França por meio da produção intelectual dos membros do Instituto Histórico de Paris (IHP), com o auxílio de documentos manuscritos e de publicações concernentes às atividades deste Instituto entre 1834, ano de sua criação, e 1850. O IHP, criado por Eugène de Monglave, pretendia estimular exclusivamente a pesquisa histórica, mas, de fato, seus estatutos e atividades indicam uma forte proximidade com a ciência social. Sustentamos que essa "aproximação sociológica" ocorreu por meio da escola bucheziana, liderada por Philippe Buchez, de origem saint-simoniana, que continuou fiel ao projeto de Saint-Simon, de constituir uma ciência social. Particularmente, o IHP empreendeu uma tentativa de definição da ciência social e promoveu a pesquisa sociológica por meio de discussões ocorridas nos Congressos Históricos anuais organizados pela sociedade. A análise das idéias debatidas no IHP, sobre a necessidade de reorganização moral da sociedade, a teoria das raças, o higienismo e as pesquisas estatísticas esclarecem algumas condições de surgimento, ambições e preocupações que caracterizaram o período pré-disciplinar da sociologia / Abstract: This research analyzes the sociological thought emergence in France through the intellectual production of Historical Institute of Paris (IHP) members, with support from manuscript documents and publications regarding this institute activities between 1834, its foundation year, and 1850. The IHP, founded by Eugène de Monglave, intended to exclusively stimulate historical research, but actually its statutes and activities indicate a strong closeness with social science. We support that this "sociological closeness" happened through the Buchezian school, leaded by Philippe Buchez, from a saint-simonian origin, who kept loyal to Saint-Simon's project of constituting a social science. Particularly, IHP undertook an attempt of social science definition and promoted sociologic research through discussions that happened at annual Historical Conferences organized by the society. The analysis of the ideas debated at IHP about the society moral re-organization demand, races theory, hygienism and statistic research elucidate some conditions of emerging, ambitions and concerns that featured sociology pre-disciplinary period / Doutorado / Doutor em Sociologia

O objetivo deste trabalho é identificar o sistema de ordenação do mundo e o lugar social do magister nas correspondências trocadas entre o Mestre Pedro Abelardo (1079-1142) e sua esposa Heloísa (1090-1164), abadessa do Paracleto. O corpus documental utilizado nesta pesquisa consiste na Historia calamitatum, as sete epístolas trocadas entre Abelardo e Heloísa e os problemata, uma carta escrita por Heloísa e respondida por Abelardo sobre diversas questões teológicas. Entendem-se como sistemas de ordenação do mundo os modelos ideológicos de ordenação social. A análise deste conjunto documental permite compreender como se produziram os discursos que visavam autorizar a forma que a sociedade toma ou deveria tomar para melhor funcionar. Estes modelos ideológicos são projetos políticos e, por definirem graus de hierarquia, também justificam qual grupo social deveria manter preponderância na sociedade. Pesquisar a ordenação divina ou os modelos de ordenação divina significa estudar, nas exposições de clérigos e letrados, os projetos políticos daqueles que constroem ou seguem estes discursos, suas mudanças através do tempo em razão das necessidades impostas pelo período e pela sociedade analisada. Significa, também, o esforço de entender qual o papel de cada categoria hierárquica dentro destes sistemas e as funções, modelos de comportamento e tentativas de enquadramento das pessoas que a eles são sujeitados. / The objective of this work is to identify the system of ordering of the world and the social magister in letters exchanged between the Master Peter Abelard (1079-1142) and his wife Heloise (1090-1164), abbess of the Paracleto. The documentary corpus used in this study consists of the Historia calamitatum the seven epistles exchanged between Abelard and Heloise and problemata, a letter written by Heloise and Abelard answered by on various theological issues. Understood as ordering systems of the world the ideological models of social ordering. The analysis of this set of documents provides insight into how it produced the discourses trying to authorize the form that society takes or should take to best work. These models are ideological and political projects, for defining degrees of hierarchy, which also justifies social group should keep the preponderance in society. Search the divine ordination or models of divine ordination means studying, exhibitions of clerics and scholars, the political projects that build or follow these speeches, their changes over time because of the requirements imposed by society and the period analyzed. It also means the effort to understand the role of each hierarchical category within these systems and functions, role models and attempted framing of people who are subjected to them.

A pesquisa pretende trazer a luz os antecedentes e desdobramentos da atuacao de Joseph-Antoine Bouvard em Sao Paulo, no inicio do seculo XX. O objeto da pesquisa e o duplo papel desempenhado por Bouvard em Sao Paulo, onde desenvolveu, no ambito publico, o chamado Plano Bouvard para Sao Paulo e, no ambito privado, esteeve a frente da criacao da City of San Paulo Improvements and Freehold Land Co. Ltd.. Sao objetivos da pesquisa contribuir para a compreensao do episodio de sua contratacao pela Diretoria de Obras Municipais, esclarecendo as condicoes e repercussoes de sua visita ao Brasil, a partir da experiencia projetual em um meio diverso e distante de seu pais de origem, a Franca. Pretende-se, ainda, esclarecer as razoes das diferencas observadas entre suas propostas bonaerense e paulistana, bem como as elucidar as condicoes que presidiram a criacao da City of San Paulo Improvements. Para a consecucao dos objetivos procedeu- se a confrontacao de varias series documentais, depositadas em diferentes acervos, alem do exame acurado do material grafico relativo ao plano e aos primeiros projetos da companhia imobiliaria, visando a verificacao de seu posicionamento teorico, as bases em que se efetuou a sua contratacao, incluindo os fatos que a antecederam e seu modus operandi, isto e, a maneira como desenvolvia seus projetos. A pesquisa propoe-se a esclarecer e dimensionar o papel de Bouvard na organizacao da City of San Paulo Improvements, que se deu em paralelo ao desenvolvimento do Plano para Sao Paulo. Ainda foi possivel avaliar o quanto os modelos culturais importados pesaram nos projetos desenvolvidos em Sao Paulo, em ambas as esferas, notadamente advindos da Franca, a partir das reformas empreendidas pelo Barao Haussmann e Inglaterra, pelo ideario cidade- jardim. A principal hipotese de trabalho parte da premissa que Bouvard ja detinha um conhecimento previo do contexto brasileiro e para ca se dirige, apos aposentar-se do servico publico frances, afim de prospectar negocios. O recorte cronologico da investigacao corresponde a vida profissional de Bouvard, desenvolvida entre 1964 e 1920. Do ponto de vista espacial, a pesquisa estende-se, na Europa, pela Franca, Belgica, Turquia e, na America do Sul, Argentina, Uruguai e Brasil. No entanto, concentra-se principalmente em Buenos Aires e Sao Paulo. / The research aims to bring to light the history and repercussions of Joseph-Antoine Bouvard brief stay in Sao Paulo, in the early twentieth century. It focuses in the dual role played by Bouvard in Sao Paulo, where he developed, in the public sphere, the so called Bouvard Plan for Sao Paulo whilw, in private, he led the creation of the City of San Paulo Improvements and Freehold Land Co. Ltd. The research intends to contribute to the understanding of the episode of his hiring by the Directorate of Municipal Works, explaining the conditions and consequences of his visit to Brazil, an experience in a diverse environment and so far from his country of origin, France. It is intended also to clarify the reasons for the differences observed between the Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo proposals, as well as clarifying the conditions, which led to the creation of the City of San Paulo Improvements. To achieve the goals we proceeded to the confrontation of several documentary series, stored in different collections, in addition to a thorough examination of graphic material relating to the plan and first projects of the real estate company, in order to check its theoretical position, the basis on which it made its hiring, including the events leading up to it and its modus operandi, that is, how developed their projects. The research aims to clarify the role and scale of Bouvard in the organization of the City of San Paulo Improvements, which took place in parallel to the development of the Plan for Sao Paulo. It was also possible to assess the extent to which imported cultural models weighed in projects developed in Sao Paulo, in both spheres, arising notably from France, from the reforms undertaken by Baron Haussmann and England, the ideas garden city. The main working hypothesis assumes that Bouvard already had prior knowledge of the Brazilian context and forth goes after retiring from the French public service, in order to prospect business. The chronological outline of the research corresponds to the professional life of Bouvard, developed between 1964 and 1920. From the spatial point of view, the research extends from Europe - France, Belgium, Turkey, to South America mainly Argentina and Brazil.

Previous issue date: 2013 / Estudo sobre o avanço do poder real à época de São Luís, rei de França, visto através do relacionamento deste com os trabalhadores urbanos de sua principal cidade e capital do reino, Paris. Para tanto, utilizou-se o Livro dos ofícios de Paris, compilação contendo os estatutos e regulamentos de todos os ofícios da cidade. Através da mesma fonte estudouse também a relação inversa, isto é, a visão que estes citadinos formam de seu rei e a representação que eles sub-repticiamente propõem, acerca de seu soberano, nos seus estatutos. O posicionamento e atuação destes personagens em relação à ideologia da tripartição funcional da sociedade constitui o pano de fundo do trabalho. Como lente de análise teórica, utilizei as formulações de Bourdieu a respeito da dinâmica das relações sociais, a partir dos conceitos de habitus, campo de significado e poder simbólico. A principal questão é a atuação do rei no espaço urbano parisiense e a percepção desta atuação pelos mercadores e artesãos naturais deste espaço. / Étude sur l’avance du povoir royale à l’époque de Saint Louis, roi de France, vue par lê rapport de celui-ci avec lês travailleurs urbains de sa ville principale et capitale du royaume, Paris. Pour atteindre ce but, on s’est utilisé du Livre des métiers de Paris, une compilation qui contient les status et règlements de tours lês métiers dans la ville. Parmi cette même source, on a étudié aussi lê rapport envers, c’ est à dire, la vision que les citoyans forment sur son roi et la représentation qu’ils furtivemente proposent su leur souverain, dans les status. Lê placement et la performance de sés personnages envers l’ idéologie de la triparticion fonctionelle de la société representle le fond du travail. Pour l’ analyse théorique on a utilisé lês formulations de Bourdieu sur la dynamique des rapports sociaux, à savoir, les concepts de habitus, champ de sens et pouvoir symbolique. La question principale c’est la performance du roi dans l’espace urbain parisien et la perception de cette performance par les merchands et par lês artisans habitants de cet espace.

Depuis l'apparition des expositions universelles jusqu'à la création des sécessions européennes, le Salon parisien a joué un rôle plus ou moins déterminant dans la carrière de centaines de peintres étrangers. Sans partis-pris esthétique, le corpus d'œuvres, d'artistes et de textes étudiés retrace la présence et la réception de la peinture étrangère au Salon de 1852 à 1900. L'histoire politique et administrative de l'institution révèle un statut de l'exposant étranger presque inexistant au début du Second Empire, qui devint une question majeure à la fin du siècle, liée à la création de la Société nationale des beaux-arts. Hasardeuse et compétitive, l'expérience du Salon constituait pour l'ensemble des artistes un enjeu considérable, tant symbolique que commercial. Les carrières parisiennes des peintres étrangers, depuis le séjour de formation jusqu'à l'impact de l'exposition au Salon, se prêtent moins que celles de leurs homologues français à une opposition entre sphère officielle et sphère indépendante; elles décrivent un système des beaux-arts largement ouvert sur le monde et sur l'ensemble du champ artistique. La réalité internationale des expositions parisiennes eut un profond impact sur l'évolution et la définition d'un art français qui en fit rapidement un motif d'hégémonie. Contrairement au cloisonnement nationaliste des expositions universelles, le brassage du Salon décrit l'unité et la diversité des forces créatrices européennes. L'expression nationale participe d'une communauté de démarches et de formes, et l'Europe des arts ne peut se réduire ni aux catégories d'écoles nationales, ni aux catégories de style de la tradition moderniste. / From the origin of World Fairs until the creation of the European secessions, the Paris Salon played a fairly significant role in the careers of hundreds of foreign painters. Avoiding aesthetic biases, the corpus of works, artists and texts studied traces the presence and the reception of foreign painting in the Paris Salon, from 1852 to 1900. The political and administrative history of the institution reveals the evolution of foreign painter status: from almost nonexistent at the beginning of the Second Empire, to a major issue at the end of the century, linked to the creation of the Société Nationale des beaux-arts. Risky and competitive, the Salon experience was a considerable challenge for all artists, both symbolic and commercial. Parisian careers of foreign painters, from their training studio to their exposition in the Salon, are less interpretable than for their French counterparts as an opposition between official and independent sphere; Fine Art system appears as wide open to the world and to the whole artistic field. The international dimension of Paris exhibitions had a profound impact on the evolution and the definition of French art who quickly built a hegemonic pattern on it. Unlike the nationalist partitioning of world fairs, the melting of the Salon is an image of the unity and diversity of European creative forces. The national expression is part of a community of approaches and expressions, and Arts of Europe cannot be categorized into national schools nor the style categories of the modernist tradition.

Cette thèse présente une réflexion sur les multiples figures du romancier américain qui émergent des entretiens littéraires de The Paris Review entre 1953 et 1973, soit les deux premières décennies d'existence de la revue. Afin de mieux saisir les spécificités et l'impact du modèle d'entretien littéraire créé par une poignée de rédacteurs aussi inspirés que débutants, cette étude revient tout d'abord sur l'histoire des little magazines, sur le contexte de la création et le fonctionnement interne de The Paris Review, avant de retracer l'histoire complexe de l'entretien littéraire. Grâce à l'analyse des archives de la revue, elle met en évidence la collaboration de l'équipe de rédacteurs et des romanciers interviewés dans un processus novateur de réécriture des entretiens. Car l'entretien littéraire est un lieu de négociation de différentes autorités, entre l'« ethos préalable » de l'écrivain utilisé par l'interviewer et les diverses stratégies (scénographies auctoriales, postures, « prêt à être écrivain ») déployées par le romancier pour asseoir sa légitimité. Derrière le portrait à deux voix que semble être l'entretien littéraire apparaît bientôt l'autoportrait de l'écrivain. L'entretien littéraire de The Paris Review donne lieu à une forme de fiction biographique, à travers laquelle l'écrivain que The Paris Review était venu interroger sur « l'art de la fiction » laisse la parole à l'auteur pour construire et défendre son image. / This dissertation examines the various figures of the American novelist which takes form in the famous literary interviews published by The Paris Review during the first two decades of its existence (1953-1973). In order to analyze the specificities and the impact of the new model of literary interview created by the inspired, yet inexperienced editors and interviewers of the review, this dissertation first traces the history of "little magazines" as well as the context in which the Paris Review interviews were shaped and polished, and then analyzes the complex history of the literary interview as a genre. Through the study of the archives of the review, the author casts a light on the collaboration between the editorial board and the interviewed novelists during the demanding rewriting process of the literary interviews. The literary interview thus appears as a space where negotiations take place, opposing the preconceptions of the interviewer to the various strategies displayed by the novelist in order to assert his legitimacy. What was originally designed as a single portrait composed by two instances actually turns into the novelist's controlled self-portrait.Ultimately The Paris Review literary interview becomes a form of biographical fiction, in which the writer, initally questioned on "the art of fiction", leaves center stage to the author, who takes great care of his own public persona.

À partir des objectifs qui ont guidé l’action publique dans le quartier du Marais, à Paris, notamment depuis les quatre dernières décennies, à savoir : préserver et mettre en valeur le patrimoine historique et architectural, en même temps que l’animation, la valorisation du tracé urbain, de l’espace public et l’ambiance du site, notre étude vise à entreprendre une analyse en parallèle entre l’exemple parisien et les possibilités de sauvegarde dans le centre ville de São Paulo.Le thème du patrimoine est traité dans ce travail sous le concept de chose publique, associé à la législation, à l’esthétique urbaine et à l’usage de l’espace en tant qu’important droit démocratique en termes sociaux et urbains.Au fil du temps, les politiques urbaines et les dynamiques spatiales à Paris et à São Paulo – tout en étant l’un des facteurs qui expliquent l’inégalité sociale dans cette dernière –, contribuent à une analyse de l’action publique dans le territoire, en promouvant soit des espaces de préservation, soit une forme d`abandon dans la ville.L’action civile pour la préservation environnementale est aussi l’un des outils de cette étude, concernant l’influence socioculturelle pour la préservation dans les deux villes étudiées.En résumé, l’identification des facteurs qui favorisent ou empêchent l’activité effective de réhabilitation est proposée dans ce travail, l’objectif majeur étant la présentation des directives d’action et d’intervention urbaine qui peuvent promouvoir l’insertion d’espaces préservés dans la ville, ainsi qu’un équilibre environnemental et l`instauration d`un dialogue autour des aspects techniques et sociaux relatifs à ce thème. / Based on the objectives that guided public politics inside Marais in Paris over the last four decades, for example the preserving and reinforcing of historical and architectural heritage, as well as the activities, urban form and environment qualities, our research intends to analyze the possible preservation strategies by putting the examples of two big cities side-by-side : Paris and São Paulo.São Paulo, space of attraction and heart of innovation, seems to be a battlefield between old and modern, public and private in terms of urban design and daily life dynamics in a way that always benefits private spaces and therefore the already privileged social sectors and upside sites. State market and urban policies over time in São Paulo, while being one of the reasons that cause social inequality, have left their prints in the configuration and the management of the specific heritage of this territory.Urban Politics and Spatial Dynamics over time in São Paulo have been so oppressive in terms of social and landscape inequality that they created a considerable number of abandoned and degradated spaces as well as defined a deficient notion within the popular belief about preservation and collective land use..Heritage is treated based on the concept of public space in terms of legislation, Urban Design and as a means of democratic expression of political power in this StudyIn summary, with this research we intend to identify the real and most contemporary possibilities and factors that can stimulate an effective movement for urban restoration, public management and use of space in São Paulo.

L’histoire des monuments religieux de la rive droite de Paris au Moyen Âge est étroitement liée à celle dudéveloppement de la ville. L’étude considère, sur dix siècles, l’ensemble des manifestations monumentales, dela simple chapelle à l’enclos monastique, comme des éléments structurants de la « Ville ». Lorsque le Parismédiéval atteint son apogée dans le courant du XIVe siècle, l’évolution de la construction religieuse dépendd’un espace urbain complexe dans lequel se confrontent les pouvoirs royal, ecclésiastique et laïc. La création etle développement du fait monumental religieux sont soumis à des influences architecturales diverses et à dessituations multiples dans un contexte bâti de plus en plus dense. La compilation de ces données architecturalesrépond à de nouvelles problématiques d’étude du paysage urbain, notamment l’iconologie des monuments, enmettant en place une méthodologie au confluent d’analyses architecturale, topographique, cartographique eticonologique. / The history of the religious monuments of Paris right bank in the Middle Ages is closely linked to that of thecity’s development. This study is looking at every monumental expression as structuring elements of the ‘City’,from the simple chapel to the monastic enclosure, over ten centuries of history. When medieval Paris reachedits pinnacle during the fourteenth century, the evolution of religious construction depended on a complexurban space in which royal, ecclesiastical and lay powers confronted each other. The creation and developmentof the religious monumental phenomenon were the result of diverse architectural influences and manifoldsituations, in a progressively denser built context. The compiling of this architectural data responds to newproblems regarding the study of the urban landscape, specifically the iconology of monuments, by establishinga new methodology at the crossroad of architectural, topographical, cartographical and iconological analysis.
