Bellefeuille, Sophie January 2009 (has links) (PDF)
______________________________________________________________________________ MOTS-CLÉS DE L’AUTEUR : Manutention, Palettisation, Expert / Novice, Fatigue, Technique.

Įrenginio „XEROX DOCUCOLOR 5000“ ir „CONICA MINOLTA BIZHUB PRO 6500“ palyginamasis technologinių galimybių tyrimas / Comparison research of technological possibilities of “XEROX DOCUCOLOR 5000” and “CONICA MINOLTA BIZHUB PRO 6500” mechanism’s

Žuromskas, Povilas 01 July 2010 (has links)
Darbo apimtis – 57 p. teksto be priedų, 3 lentelės, 33 paveikslai, 15 bibliografinių šaltinių. Darbo priedai pridedami darbo pabaigoje. / The research regarding colour reproduction possibilities of two electrographic machines “Xerox DocuColor 5000” and “Conica Minolta Bizhub pro C6500” was made. In it two stamped machines were used, which had to stamp fixed numbers of calibration test (a paper with specially made, same size and various colours quadrants for spectrofotometer, where is different number of all four CMYK bitmap colour dots), which colour intensity was measured with using spaectrofotometer “Efi ES-1000”. The results have shown that “Xerox” machine has larger colour reproduction depth comparing to “Minolta” . This condition is made because of varnish that covers stamp. It creates specular effect and eliminates resolved light that comes to measuring devices. Self calibrating system cracks were discovered as well. Also two machines have to be calibrated after fixed number of stamps. Thesis has 7 parts: Introduction, literature review, research methodology, results, results discussion, conclusion and recommendation, literature list, appendix. Thesis consist of: 57p. text without appendix, 3 tables, 33 pictures, 15 bibliographical.

A Computational Approach for the Study of Color Modulation and Contrasts in Visual Art

Agahchen, Anissa 28 August 2014 (has links)
This thesis describes a computational approach for analyzing the color aesthetics of images from the perspective of color theory. Our work has been informed by the works of Johannes Itten, one of the most influential theorists of color aesthetics. To the best of our knowledge, developing computational models that are based on Itten's theories is our unique contribution to Computer Vision. We focus on three aspects of color usage in visual art, namely modulation, contrast of hue and cold-warm contrast. For modulation, we introduce the color palette, a novel 3D visualization of the chromatic information of an image in the HSL space and propose a set of simple descriptors for evaluating color modulation. For contrast of hue, we assess the spatial color composition of the homogeneous regions. For cold-warm contrast, we assess the spatial color composition of the homogeneous regions and the hue adjacencies. Further, we assess the relative warmth of the homogeneous regions and adjacent hues. We also propose a visualization, namely a 3D histogram to visualize the patterns of the contrasts in an artist's paintings. We validate our methods by comparing our results with Itten's descriptions and comments. We hope that this computational approach improves the color-based features used in the aesthetic classification of images. / Graduate / 0984

Colormoo: An Algorithmic Approach to Generating Color Palettes

Rael, Joshua 01 January 2014 (has links)
Selecting one color can be done with relative ease, but this task becomes more difficult with each subsequent color. Colormoo is an online tool aimed at solving this problem. We implement three algorithms for generating color palettes based off of a starting color. Data is collected for each palette that is generated. Our analysis reveals two of the algorithms are preferred, but under different circumstances. Furthermore, we find that users prefer palettes containing colors that are compatible, but not too similar. With refined heuristics, we believe these techniques can be extended and applied beyond the field of graphic design alone.

Skanska’s Deep Green Journey; How can the Building Industry Push Sustainability in Practice: A Case Study of Skanska’s Color Palette™

Nabholz, Timothy January 2012 (has links)
The environmental impacts that will affect earth due to continued population growth are staggering. They can be seen through the depletion of finite resources, increased pollution, and climate change. These environmental fluctuations will no doubt have a significant impact on how 21st century societies are designed. In order to reduce the potential catastrophes that these environmental issues will bring forth, societies must learn to adapt and accept new methods of building their cities. This paper delves into how the building industry can help address the issues that the world is facing environmentally. The goal of the study is to develop an understanding of how the building industry can push sustainable building practices. It looks at how Skanska AB, the largest Nordic building company, has focused their internal strategies to push towards sustainable building practices. This paper hopes to determine how with the help an internal rating tool, a global organization can reduce their environmental impacts. Through the examination of Skanska’s Color Palette™, key learnings were gained that could be used to reveal how private corporations can make good business sense out of sustainability. The paper also illustrate how Skanska has identified gaps between traditional certification tools and goals of true sustainability, and what that means for the built environment. The paper presents a case study of Skanska’s Color Palette™ as a key aspect of the company’s environmental journey. It looks at how the company was able to repair their reputation and illustrates how they have proved that they are serious about their goal of pursuing a sustainable future. The study involved secondary analysis of both public and Skanska documents, theoretical analysis and 4 semi-structured interviews. The analysis proved that the Color Palette™ is a tool that has great value for private corporations and is something that should be studied by other organizations seeking to reduce their environmental impacts. However, it was clear that if the earth is to progress sustainably, public policy, markes and internal organizations will all have to work together.

Living lens: exploring interdependencies between performing bodies, visual and sonic media in immersive installation

Verdaasdonk, Maria Adriana January 2007 (has links)
Living Lens is a practice-led study that explores interdependencies between performing bodies, visual images and sonic elements through two main areas of investigation: the propensity for the visual mode to be dominant in an interdisciplinary performance environment; and, a compositional structure to integrate performing bodies, visual and sonic elements. To address these concerns, the study necessitated a collaborative team comprising performers, visual artists, sound designers and computer programmers. The poetic title, Living Lens, became an important interpretative device and organising principle in this study, which is weighted 70% for the creative work and 30% for the written component. Working from an experiential and emergent methodology, the research employed two iterative cycles of development. Drawing on a previous work, Patchwork in Motion (2005), the extraction of one fragment entitled Living Lens (2005-6) was selected for further development, specifically to balance the relationship between performers and visual media with a deeper focus on the sonic component. The initial creative development (June-July 2005) addressed the area of interdependencies through the concepts of "poetic felt space" and "living painting", whilst the final stage of the study (June-July 2006) adopted the concept of "worlds within worlds" to facilitate greater contrast and connectivity in the piece. The final performance made partial progress towards shifting visual dominance and the development of an integrative structure, the digital media serving to enhance tangible connections between aural, visual and kinesthetic senses. As an immersive performance installation, the study thus adapts and extends painterly and sculptural sensibilities into a contemporary and interactive arts setting. Presenting a case for the personalised position of the practitioner voice, the study also offers practical and conceptual insights and solutions, to be adopted, adapted or applied tangentially, by other practitioners and researchers working in the domains of body movement practices, visual and sonic arts and human communication technologies.

Recherches sur le système de représentations symboliques de l’art néolithique aux textes des pyramides- Origines et formation des éléments de la religion solaire de l’Egypte antique / Research on the symbolic representations system in Egypt from Neolithic art to the pyramid texts.- Origin and formation of solar religion elements in pharaonic Egypt

Sweydan, Francois 28 February 2011 (has links)
Since the beginning of the first dynasties, the pictogram in writing was the extension of naturalistic figurative representations, logograms in the decorated funerary protodynastic palettes. This statement carry us to link them with the parietal art of Neolithic Nubia, the egyptian Predynastic, and peripheral cultural areas. We have reconsidered the petroglyphs as polysemic symbols and ideograms, i.e. mythograms as well polysemic logograms-phonograms, allowing us to draw up a structural system of symbolic representations, universal in the Nile valley. Basically funerary, the system is organised around a new reading in connection with the founding of the ‘Eye of Horus’/solar myths, and express itself in primitive Neolithic and Predynastic rites of revivification, rebirth, more explicit afterwards during the first dynasties on labels, votive cylinder-seals, and anointing the deads with the seven holy canonical oils, finally in the Pyramid Texts. Contrary to the common idea which opposite the Nature-Culture notions, there is some question to combine them, to reconcile the non-binary duality and to see, for example, the heliotrope functions and/or heliophore animals of the sub-Saharan bestiary, with Sokar the funerary hawk, the benevolent guarantors for the rebirth and metamorphosis of the sun/deads; otherwise felids, canids, antelopes…, invested by the numinous of the protecting divinities. In consequence of a new reading of the primitive ‘osirian’ myth of metamorphosis, we have reconsidered the conceptions about animal sacrifice on the basis of religious anthropology. Far from bringing under control and submission of nature, and diffusionnism, the intercultural (cross-cultural) of the first archaic mythic thought in the multi-ethnic nubian-egyptian valley and associated neighbouring areas involves, towards the natural world and the numinous spiritual strengths, the cross-cultural of solar conceptions and multicultural, trans-historic sharing of the polycyclic resurrectional believes. Thus, the animal petroglyphs, cynegetic scenes, boats and sandals representations, etc., are of funerary votive, apotropaic nature.
