Desde o ponto de vista da oferta de trabalho / The leisure and work part time. The approximation of this relationship from the labor supplySaavedra Martinez, Manuel Enrique 10 April 2018 (has links)
The economic boom that we have been receiving is based on extraordinary macroeconomic figures, all economicactors are involved, the most influential being the level of involvement of the human factor that boosts productivity and increases returns profits to companies. The labor market is really dynamic and form part of this expansionary cycle gear, homogeneously transforming the economy and labor; however, the view of human capital in its environment the use of time, be it economically: leisure, is just one aspect emphasized in labor trials because modeling studies focus on the value of the numbers of companies, market measurements, compared asymmetries between firms, census, etc., but very little importance on the labor supply of families and the reasons that drive people to workon the dynamics of the different modalities used in employment pays off. This time, wich of the part time work, we could find the factors that influence families to join the labor market in part-time days. Thus, the purpose of the study lies in the eye of leisure and its relation to the initiative of working part- time as a single share of the person providing their workforce in the labor market. To have the theoretical basis of this dynamic resort to the theory of labor supply, which imposes the perspective of the study of the family and its members, analyzing the role that the individual and needs to face the labor market, if so, determining how to work part time. The significant element is the labor supply behavior, which is preceded by the decisions of the person, which reveals the actions of the economic function of the choice of the individual consumer and therefore its participation in thelabor market.

Social disorganization theory and crime rates on California community college campusesRavalin, Tamara M. 01 January 2014 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to explore the impact of social structure and community organization factors on campus crime on California community college campuses. The study utilized social disorganization theory to examine those relationships by aggregating data from the 113 campuses that are required to submit data on an annual basis to state and federal agencies. Crime data from the 2011 Clery report was separated into personal crimes and property crimes as reported by the California community college campuses. Correlation analysis was used for the non-categorical social structure and community organization factors. Those factors which demonstrated a statistical relationship with personal or property crimes were then regressed to further analyze the data. The relationships of categorical social structure and community organization factors with personal and property crimes were studied using analysis of variance. The results demonstrated that most of the social structure and community organization variables did not have a statistically significant relationship with personal or property crimes. However, the percentage of students receiving general financial aid in the form of Pell Grants demonstrated a strong relationship with an increase in both personal and property crimes. Additionally, an increase in the ratio of part-time to full-time faculty members demonstrated an increase in property crime on campus. The findings indicate that students on campuses with a high percentage of Pell Grant recipients are likely to be impacted by crime in some manner and that campuses with a large percentage of Pell Grant recipients need to consider additional supports and interventions to protect students from crime on campus. The findings also demonstrate that hiring a large percentage of part-time instructors may be counterproductive to preventing campus crime.

Heltid som norm? : En kvalitativ forskning om faktorerna som ligger till grund för den höga andelen deltidsanställda kvinnor inom Laholms kommuns kvinnodominerade verksamheter / Part-time as the norm? : Qualitative research of the factors that form the basis for the high proportion of part-time working women in Laholm municipality’s women-dominated operationsElma, Steinsson, Larsson, Anna January 2022 (has links)
The proportion of women working part-time in Laholm municipality's operations is high. To change that they need knowledge about why women work part-time. The municipality lacks the knowledge needed to achieve the goal of the “Heltidsresan” project. The underlying factors were studied through interviews and qualitative research. The purpose of the study was to gain knowledge about the underlying factors and the municipality's work with the project “Heltidsresan” whose purpose of which is to introduce full-time as the norm. The question in this study was “What factors affect women, employees in Laholm municipality's operations, to work part-time and what does the municipal management do to promote fulltime work as the norm? “. The theories used for the analysis of the phenomenon of part-time employment were system and life-world by Habermas, intersectionality by Los De Reyes and 3Mulinaris and the theory of emotional work by Hochschild. Through interviews, the study has gained knowledge about the underlying factors why women in Laholm municipality's operations work part-time. The result is that there are mainly three factors why women work part-time. Childcare in the home is based on traditional gender roles, the working conditions and the financial difference between men and women.

<b>Analyzing the Personal and Organizational Effect of Gender Imbalance in Ghanaian Photojournalism</b>Benedicta Woolley (20378817) 04 December 2024 (has links)
<p dir="ltr">This research aims to explore insights to decision makers on how gender imbalance can affect individuals, and the organizations involved in news production. This article focuses primarily on the difficulties encountered by female photojournalists working in Ghanaian media organizations. This study aims to identify the barriers faced by females in the sector and identify organizational elements that may have an impact on the proportion of female professionals in the area. Females who work in this field are underpaid and face additional challenges. Data was gathered from a sample of twelve female photojournalists in Ghana utilizing online interviews as part of a qualitative research project. The purpose of the study is to determine the common experiences and difficulties faced by female photojournalists and the impact those experiences have had on both the organization and the person. The study also investigated how female photojournalists are coping with the popular perception that photojournalism is a male-dominated field. Findings confirm several challenges that female photojournalists—both independent contractors and those employed by media organizations—face. These issues were categorized into broader themes, such as harassment, discrimination, lack of representation, and gender bias. Findings contribute to the current understanding of difficult experiences among female photojournalists, as well as inform the development of interventions to support female photojournalists in managing their hurdles and developing some coping mechanisms. Implications with respect to theory and practice are discussed.</p>

Energy and environmental benefits of alternative work arrangementsHasan, Ajaz 05 1900 (has links)
The present rate of fossil fuel burning, the main source of commercial energy, is adversely
impacting global climate. Present social and economic practices need to be examined to
question their level of energy use and related greenhouse gas emission. Energy used to
operate buildings and to transport people is a significant portion of the total energy consumption
and reductions in these uses will be crucial to addressing the global issues.
This thesis examines the potential for energy use reduction in the performance of office work
through the use of Alternative Work Arrangements ("AWAs"). The analysis considers the
operating energy of an office building, operating energy of alternative work locations and the
transportation energy spent by employees in commuting from home to work.
A brief synopsis of the present atmospheric, energy use and workplace trend is presented. The
synthesis of these trends is used as a framework to evaluate the impact of AWAs. The work
arrangements in the Burnaby Fraser Tax Services Office ('BFTSO'), Surrey, BC are used as a
case study to analyze the operating and commuting energy spent by the employees working by
different arrangements. Telework is found to be the most energy efficient work arrangement
implemented at the BFTSO. Under optimum operating conditions, net energy saving per
teleworker can be 34.06 GJ per annum. Net savings in greenhouse gas emission per
teleworker can be 1950 kg per annum. For hoteling work arrangement, net energy savings per
hoteling employee under optimum conditions can be 32 GJ per annum. Related savings in
greenhouse gas emissions can be 1532 kg per annum.
The proportion of total operating and total commuting energy for the BFTSO is almost equal.
However, the greenhouse gas emission from total commuting energy is three times that from
operating energy due to differences in carbon intensity of the fuel mix. Under optimum
conditions the implementation of AWAs at the BFTSO can result in 36 percent saving in total
operating energy and 43 percent saving in total commuting energy. The magnitude of the
savings is location dependent due to differences in climate, fuel mix and transportation patterns.
Alternative Work Arrangements have mixed social impact. It can improve the ability of
employees to balance their personal and professional life. It can also lead to isolation that can
adversely impact morale and work output. The participation rate in AWAs within organizations
is currently low, less than 2 percent. However, the implementation of AWA is widespread with
most organizations using some form of AWA. To increase the participation rate in AWAs, a
comprehensive approach needs to be adopted, considering the professional, personal,
economic and social impact of AWAs. Government intervention through supporting regulations
and incentives can be a strong catalyst for increasing participation rates in AWAs.
