Numerical Simulation of Entrainment and Recirculating flow at the Base of a Truncated Aerospike Nozzle with Supplementary Base Flow

January 2017 (has links)
abstract: The aerospike nozzle belongs to the class of altitude compensating nozzles making it a strong candidate for Space Shuttle Main Engines. Owing to their higher efficiency compared to conventional bell nozzles, the aerospike nozzles are being studied extensively and are being used for many Single State to Orbit (SSTO) designs. A rocket engine nozzle with altitude compensation, such as the aerospike, consumes less fuel than a rocket engine with a bell nozzle. Aerospike nozzles are huge and are often difficult to construct and have to be truncated in order to make them feasible for application in a rocket propulsion system. Consequently, truncation of the aerospike leads to pressure loss under the base, which in-turn decreases the overall thrust produced by the rocket nozzle. To overcome this loss, a technique called base bleed is implemented in which a secondary jet is made to flow through the base of the truncated portion. This thesis uses dynamic pressure contour plots to find out the ideal base bleed mass flow rate to avoid base recirculation in 10 %, 20 % and 30 % truncated aerospike nozzles. / Dissertation/Thesis / Masters Thesis Mechanical Engineering 2017

Webbläsartillägg för inhämtning av data

Karlsson, Albin January 2011 (has links)
Speedledger is a company that is working to automate electronic accounting for businesses, organizations and associations. In the current situation bank data is sent from the users internet bank to Speedledger via a virtual printer driver. The driver transforms the web page into a PDF and sends it to a server for interpretation. The problem is that PDF is not created for this sort of data transfer and makes the interpretation of data is very problematic. The goal of the thesis is to study whether there is a possibility to develop a browser add-on that can retrieve information on the customer's banking page and send it on to Speedledgers server for interpretation. My task was to implement a add-on for one of the three major browsers Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome or Microsoft Internet Explorer, and then study the possibility of implementing it to the other two by reading the documentation. What I concluded was that it is possible to implement for all the three browsers. However, the techniques will differ slightly when developing these add-ons.

Efficient polygon reduction in Maya

Flaaten, Marcus January 2015 (has links)
Reducing the number of vertices in a mesh is a problem that if solved correctly can save the user a lot of time in the entire process of handling the model. Most of the solutions today are focused on reducing the mesh in one big step by running a separate application. The goal of this implementation is to bring the reduction application into the users workspace as a plugin. Many of the modellers in the various computer graphics industries use Autodesk Maya the plugins intention is to create a efficient tool which also give the modellers as much freedom as possible without the need to ever leave Mayas workspace. During the process the possible issues and solutions of creating this tool in Maya will also examined to help introduce the process of creating a tool for Maya. This plugin has the potential to improve on the existing reduction tool in Maya by giving the user more options and a more exact solution.

Reusable component oriented agents: a new architecture

Boshoff, Willem Hendrik 13 May 2008 (has links)
Researchers in artificial intelligence and agent technologies are presented with a massive array of various technologies that they might use for their research projects. It is difficult for researchers to test their theories effectively in the field. It takes a great deal of time to develop the platform on which the newly created agent will be tested, with little or no time left for troubleshooting and the investigation of further solutions. Every time a new technique or agent is researched, the agent has to be redeveloped from the ground up. This makes it difficult for researchers to compare their own theories with previously developed components. With the wide range of technologies and techniques available, there is no easy way to effectively make use of the various components, as each tool uses different technologies that cannot be combined easily. This dissertation outlines the new plug-in oriented agent architecture (POAA) and describes the agents that use the POAA. POAA agents make extensive use of functional and controller-based plug-ins in order to extend the functionality and behaviour of the agent. The architecture was designed to facilitate machine learning and agent mobility techniques. POAA agents are created by mounting newly created dynamic plug-in components into the static structure of the agent. The static structure of the agent serves as the basis of agent functionality and as the controller for the agent’s life cycle. The static and dynamic components of the POAA agent interact with each other in order to perform the agent’s required tasks. The use of plug-ins will greatly improve the effectiveness of researchers, as only a single, standard architecture will exist. Researchers only need design and develop the plug-in required for their specific agent to function as desired. This will also facilitate the comparison of various tools and methods, as only the components being reviewed need to be interchanged to measure system performance. The use of different plug-in architectures is also investigated. This includes deciding if the plug-in base will be configured at application run-time or at the time of application compilation. This dissertation focuses on techniques that will facilitate machine learning and agent mobility. For these purposes, extensive use is made of the machine learning tool WEKA developed by University of Waikato in New Zealand [Wi00]. The use of Java in the prototype will also facilitate the cross platform capability of the proposed agents. / Prof. E.M. Ehlers

Interopérabilité sur les standards Modelica et composant logiciel pour la simulation énergétique des sytèmes de bâtiment / Interoperability based on Modelica and software component standard for building system energy simulation

Gaaloul Chouikh, Sana 18 October 2012 (has links)
To better reduce its invoices, control its energy flows and respect various restrictions in this sector characterised by important consumption, the building becomes more and more complex including various innovative technologies such as Energy Management Systems (BEMS), efficient insulation and integrating renewable energies. This complexity requires a changing in building simulation techniques and paradigms in order to take into account its various developments. A global modelling of this system taking into account its various components and ensuring an efficient simulation of its heterogeneous subsystems must be performed. These objectives can only be achieved through the use of interoperability methodological approaches. Several interoperability solutions have been explored in the building sector and the state of the art make an accent on the standardization lack of applied solutions. A white box approach based on Modelica language has emerged in this area. To raise its interest and limitations, this solution is adopted for “PREDIS” system, a high energy performance building, modelling. A complementary black box approach, based on software component standard and dedicated for simulation is also applied to overcome the first approach difficulties. This approach is based on software component bus concept that is able to ensure an effective interoperability between modelling tools and simulation environments. In addition of the established software architecture around the platform interoperability, an efficient simulation of heterogeneous systems requires appropriate simulations techniques. These techniques may require several adaptations of used models that are provided by the component standard.

Intelligenta plug-ins : En undersökning av dess validitet

Nylund, Tobias January 2022 (has links)

Habiger, Pascal, Hildebrandt, Gary, Drath, Rainer, Barth, Mike, Fay, Alexander, Zor, Ayhan, Marseu, Moritz 27 January 2022 (has links)
