Hansen, Carl January 2016 (has links)

Åhrström, David January 2017 (has links)

Ink Key Presetting in Offset Printing Presses Using Digital Images of the Plates

In order to generate reliable transfer curves the print jobs used for calibration must be of high printing quality and representative for that particular press. How the ink key presettings are presented in the press control room depends on what kind of press it is. IKPS works with CIP3 PPF files as well as low-resolution cmyk tiff files.</p>

ESSAYS ON SHARE REPURCHASES

Moore, David 01 January 2018 (has links)
In my first chapter, we document and study the use of Rule 10b5 1 preset repurchase plans. We exploit this new and widespread form of payout to examine an issue at the core of payout decisions—the tradeoff between commitment and financial flexibility. Relative to open market repurchases, preset plans provide an expanded repurchase window and increased legal cover, albeit at the cost of reducing repurchase flexibility and the option to time repurchases. These costs and benefits are significantly associated with Rule 10b5-1 adoption. Consistent with preset plans signaling commitment, Rule 10b5-1 repurchase announcements are associated with greater and faster completion rates, with more positive market reactions, and with more dividend substitution than open market repurchases. Lastly, we find that preset repurchase plans represent a unique payout tool whose introduction encouraged a different set of firms to buy back stock and significantly altered the payout landscape. My second chapter examines the strategic use and timing of share repurchases by insiders for personal gain. Using grant level compensation data and a hand-collected sample of monthly repurchases, I find a positive relation between CEO equity sales and share repurchases. I identify the relationship by instrumenting equity sales with equity grant vesting schedules. This relation is persistent across firm characteristics and does not appear to be destroying shareholder value. The results indicate managerial self-interest motivates a subset of share repurchases.

Optimeringsanalys av en modern, systemintegrerad operationssal : Jämförelse av tre styrningsfall / Optimization Analysis of a Modern,System Integrated Operating Theatre : Comparison of Three Maneuvering Alternatives

Lindberg, Therése, Malm, Emma January 2019 (has links)
Healthcare system complexity can be simplified by equipping hospital operatingtheatres with an integrated system solution. The goal is to improve the hospitalworkflow by enabling maneuvering of all the equipment from a common unit.Today there is no data to support the claim that the system offered feature of usingpreset scenes provides any improvements. The aim of this study is to demonstrate the benefits of the integrated operatingsystem. This is done by performing a workflow analysis based on three differentcases (with preset scenes, maneuvered through the applications and without use ofthe integrated system) and three different parameters (clicks, steps, and time). Thepurpose is to clarify the, from a user perspective, most beneficial case. The measured result shows an advantage when using the system with presetscenes. All of the assumptions in the survey, including the limitations ofquantitative data, are considered in the study. The result is validated by the analysis. A combination of the case with preset scenesand a distributed control between the users are therefore the best alternative for anoptimized workflow.

Management of inset for secondary school educators in rural areas

Rathogwa, Livhalani Frank 31 March 2006 (has links)
The aim of this study was to investigate the management of in-service education and training (INSET) conducted for teachers, in particular in rural secondary schools in the Zoutpansberg West Circuit, Limpopo Province. The problem was conducted by a literature study and empirical investigation. The literature review explored various definitions of INSET and related concepts and dealt with the provision of in-service training for teachers in developing countries such as Kenya and South Africa and a developed country such as Britain. The empirical study investigated the management of INSET for secondary school educators in rural areas using a questionnaire administered to educators in eleven secondary schools in the Zoutpansberg West Circuit. Findings indicated strengths and weaknesses of INSET. Based on the literature and the empirical investigation, recommendations are made for the Department of Education with regard to the provision of INSET. / Educational Studies / M. Strategies for the privatisation of black education with reference to teacher training

Maitland, Irene D. M. (Irene Daphne Manda) 06 1900 (has links)
The poor quality of state controlled black education in South Africa in the past was mainly caused by low pupil per capita expenditure and poor teaching. This resulted in many problems. Because of past neglect, as well as the increase in number of children to be educated, black education must be revitalised. Government funding is not adequate, therefore, privatisation and semi-privatisation of education is a recommended solution. Community and business involvement is encouraged, and state control should be reduced. Short-term strategies have been fairly successfully implemented. With a view to proposing strategies for the upliftment of black education, the upgrading of teachers through improved INSET and PRESET Q!_Qfil_~mmes is considered a priority. Already implemented models, such as Promat, TOPS and the Molteno Project should be investigated. These programmes have been successful to varying degrees. Strategies have been proposed based on the above findings and guidelines for further research suggested. / Educational Studies / M. Ed. (Comparative Education)
