Notace modelování procesů a jejich užití / Process modeling notations and their utilization

Bartošová, Kateřina January 2014 (has links)
The companies can choose from a wide range of tools and methodologies for mapping their processes. The key point is to select the right ones to ensure they will match with the purpose of process mapping and the process models will be clear and easy to understand for the entire stakeholder spectrum. For process modeling we often use diagrams. We have notations that are very advanced, they can be very detailed and accurate. On the other hand we have those which are very simple and with only a few symbols they can capture basic ideas and attributes of the process. The aim of this thesis is to compare representatives from each group of notations and answer the question which notation is more suitable for different types of utilization of business process models. The representative of the advanced instruments is BPMN 2.0, which is compared with the basic flowcharts. The research is based on Delphi method.

There are several clippings by which it has been analyzed the issues of inclusion of people with disabilities in research are developed in academic forums, or in the socio- political and economic debates. It is clear, in the historical context, a quick conceptual evolution in several academic publications and policies which presents the theme, especially in the last four decades, which has resulted in a redirect gaze and practices aimed at inclusion of this population. However, when we cut the policy expressed in legislation, confronted with the practical, engineering and joints developed in the municipalities, faced with a reality that exposes the lack of connection between these activities and especially the almost complete absence of instrumentalities that enable measuring its effectiveness. On one hand, the training agencies try to develop concepts that enable its graduates an inclusive society and contemplating a new look with the disabled person, on the other hand, we observe the gap between intention and practice, and especially among sectors planning and managing the inclusive processes, resulting in not streamlined processes, with overlapping tasks, or calls costing, rework, lack of care by the inference that some activity is of another sector, plus a set of Scattered or disconnected information, or lack of reliable indicators that provide validation of results . From this perception stems the urgent need of models of integration of these concepts (derived from the research and science) and practical (present in social settings) in synchrony to submit an action and alignment to a common point of convergence (human needs), and enabling to track the effectiveness of the results of public policy. This work evokes the use of the value-oriented methodology for modeling and designing processes, combined with an approach of solving complex problems, as an alternative to the establishment, mapping and verification of management indicators of inclusive processes and monitoring, validation and traceability of results of actions aimed at inclusion. We conclude that such a methodology, if applied, could make municipalities, entities or other levels of structural clippings, assessing and validating processes of inclusion and provide indicators to correction and planning of training activities or indication of areas of need in research and development contributing to the effectiveness, not just efficiency, of the activities developed for the inclusion of people with disabilities / Doutorado / Atividade Fisica, Adaptação e Saude / Doutor em Educação Física

Using Timed Model Checking for Verifying Workflows

Gruhn, Volker, Laue, Ralf 31 January 2019 (has links)
The correctness of a workflow specification is critical for the automation of business processes. For this reason, errors in the specification should be detected and corrected as early as possible - at specification time. In this paper, we present a validation method for workflow specifications using model-checking techniques. A formalized workflow specification, its properties and the correctness requirements are translated into a timed state machine that can be analyzed with the Uppaal model checker. The main contribution of this paper is the use of timed model checking for verifying time-related properties of workflow specifications. Using only one tool (the model checker) for verifying these different kinds of properties gives an advantage over using different specialized algorithms for verifying different kinds of properties.

Weller, Jens 03 February 2010 (has links)

Förstudie för implementering av affärssystemet Oracles tidrapporteringsmodul OTL (Oracle Time and Labor) : Kravhantering och GAP analys för tidrapporteringsprocess i Oracle EBS R12

Johansson, Ida, Örnjäger, Maria January 2012 (has links)
This is a report for our thesis that was conducted as a conclusion of our bachelor degree in Business engineering at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH). The work is done in cooperation with the firm Navigate Consulting Business Solutions AB. They have their leading expertise in Oracle E-Business Suite and has previously chosen to implement Oracle EBS R12. The modules that are planned to be implemented are general ledger (GL), accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), project module (PA), purchases, and CRM. For a consulting company like Navigate, it is particularly important to have a simple and effective time reporting process. We were therefore asked to provide new tabs with a decision-making process to determine if Oracle Time & Labor (OTL) is a useful time tracking system for their business. In order to achieve the company´s aim and objective we decided to follow a development method with five different phases. The phases included a set of work steps that generated various documents, which gave us enough information to structure the entire company and helped us to create a clear picture of the organization and its structure. From this, we could work out a requirements document and then map those requirements to OTL. This resulted in a gap analysis where you can read the requirements that are handled by OTL and possible solutions to the requirements that OTL doesn´t handle. The result of this work is presented in process maps, a requirement specification, an use case documents, and a GAP analysis.

Modelling towards a lean product development process : A case study at Scania customized truck development

STYFBERG LUNDQVIST, ANNA January 2019 (has links)
The increasing demands on producing products in an effective and resource efficient manner has put more focus on modelling internal processes within organizations. Models of internal processes show what work is to be done and how to do the work in order to get to the desired result. Modelling internal processes is also a way to capture knowledge that by many is seen as the most meaningful resource and valuable asset in today’s organizations.  This thesis project has created a model of the project process for customized truck development (s-order) at Scania. The purpose has been to create a model that facilitates the everyday work of the project managers and can be used to improve the process. The goal of this report is to add to the theoretic field of process modelling by focusing on how to use a process model. A qualitative case study was conducted in parallel to a literature study. The result is a model in two layers providing different levels of detail. The model can be used for project planning, project execution, project control and project development the most important part being to create a standardized way of working which is the basis for a lean product development. The process of modelling can in itself generate important insights into a process, the report therefore ends with a discussion on suggestions for improvement of the s-order projects towards becoming a more lean product development process.

A New Paradigm Integrating Business Process Modeling and Use Case Modeling

Brown, Barclay 01 January 2015 (has links)
The goal of this research is to develop a new paradigm integrating the practices of business process modeling and use case modeling. These two modeling approaches describe the behavior of organizations and systems, and their interactions, but rest on different paradigms and serve different needs. The base of knowledge and information required for each approach is largely common, however, so an integrated approach has advantages in efficiency, consistency and completeness of the overall behavioral model. Both modeling methods are familiar and widely used. Business process modeling is often employed as a precursor to the development of a system to be used in a business organization. Business process modeling teams and stakeholders may spend months or years developing detailed business process models, expecting that these models will provide a useful base of information for system designers. Unfortunately, as the business process model is analyzed by the system designers, it is found that information needed to specify the functionality of the system does not exist in the business process model. System designers may then employ use case modeling to specify the needed system functionality, again spending significant time with stakeholders to gather the needed input. Stakeholders find this two-pass process redundant and wasteful of time and money since the input they provide to both modeling teams is largely identical, with each team capturing only the aspects relevant to their form of modeling. Developing a new paradigm and modeling approach that achieves the objectives of both business process modeling and use case modeling in an integrated form, in one analysis pass, results in time savings, increased accuracy and improved communication among all participants in the systems development process. Analysis of several case studies will show that inefficiency, wasted time and overuse of stakeholder resource time results from the separate application of business process modeling and use case modeling. A review of existing literature on the subject shows that while the problem of modeling both business process and use case information in a coordinated fashion has been recognized before, there are few if any approaches that have been proposed to reconcile and integrate the two methods. Based on both literature review and good modeling practices, a list of goals for the new paradigm and modeling approach forms the basis for the paradigm to be created. A grounded theory study is then conducted to analyze existing modeling approaches for both business processes and use cases and to provide an underlying theory on which to base the new paradigm. The two main innovations developed for the new paradigm are the usage process and the timebox. Usage processes allow system usages (use cases) to be identified as the business process model is developed, and the two to be shown in a combined process flow. Timeboxes allow processes to be positioned in time-relation to each other without the need to combine processes into higher level processes using causal relations that may not exist. The combination of usage processes and timeboxes allows any level of complex behavior to be modeled in one pass, without the redundancy and waste of separate business process and use case modeling work. Several pilot projects are conducted to test the new modeling paradigm in differing modeling situations with participants and subject matter experts asked to compare the traditional models with the new paradigm formulations.
