No. of bitstreams: 1 DissRRP.pdf: 3465607 bytes, checksum: deab8698703924f483f149c7a9daad86 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2016-06-27 / Não recebi financiamento / It is noticed in the last years a prominent growth in the national construction industry which has driven to an increase in competitiveness among its professionals. These new levels of competitiveness have led professionals to study possible innovations in the design process to create more efficient and cost effective planning methods. In general, architectural designers choose to develop their products using 2D design software. These tools are often able to meet the minimum representational requirements. However, technological breakthroughs have brought up new methods that are capable of adding quality to the final product, namely the executive project. Therefore, this study sought the theoretical background to present a review about concepts in 2D design process and the context of its coordination. As complement of that, the study aims to reveal possible qualitative increments to the project phases through the use of performance flowcharts of the existing steps inside the studied company, which takes into consideration the current scenario surrounding technologies in Brazil. This approach required the development of case studies to assess the coordination of architectural design process typology adopted in small office. Three projects of different sizes, based on the most commonly found typology in the studied company, were chosen in order to conceptualize the development of the design process. Based on that, the case studies were produced and evaluated to yield proposals for new studies regarding coordinative improvements in the design process. These studies focus an ideal performance model for design project management. Thus, the noticeable outcome of this study is that the target company must incorporate new methods to refine the design process once it presents noncompliant quality and excessive rework due to the lack of compatibility among projects. In addition, another evident fact affecting the product quality is that employees of this company deal with a high demand of parallel activities which reduces their productivity and consequently decreases the quality of the final product.

Our differences are a prerequisite for creating equality : A qualitative study of the concept of equality in preschool from the perspective of preschool teachers and principals

Vallenius, Tove, Haglund, Emelina January 2020 (has links)
In July 2019, the preschool received a new curriculum that emphasizes that the education in the preschool should be equivalent regardless of where in the country it is organized. Our purpose with this study was to see how an assistant principal and four preschool teachers conceive of and lead the work with this concept of equality in preschool. We did this through a qualitative interview study involving the said participants. The research questions that guided our questions to the respondents were: how is gender equality defined by the assistant principal and preschool teacher and how the assistant principal and preschool teacher implement equality in the preschool and how the preschool teacher leads the working group in this work. When we compiled our material, we were able to distinguish certain recurring factors that were linked to the concept. We could also see how the deputy principal's view of equality was more from an overall perspective, while the preschool teachers linked the concept to an equal education for the children. Other factors for an equivalent education were competence, the profession's responsibility, organizational conditions and quality linked to both structure- and process quality. Our conclusion based on our thesis is that equality is a concept with many interpretations. The preschool teachers lacked time to implement this in the work team, but it was something they asked for to create a dialogue and bring to life the concept of equality in the business. By doing so, you create the conditions for an equal education but also to develop the pedagogical relationships.

Developing process quality measurement in shipbuilding industry

Basic, Selma January 2019 (has links)
This thesis investigates the possibility to adapt Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), tothe development process in the shipbuilding industry.More specifically the development process wasdelimited to the phases; design, work preparation, production and verification.Ordinarily, OEE is a performance measurement for mass production. Itincludes aquality parameter which has been the focus of this thesis. Both literature review and case study investigation show that process quality is of critical importance in the shipbuilding industry because of the needs for dimensional accuracy and high-quality assemblage. The three main factors affecting process quality are;the flow of information between engineering phaseand productionphase, and the amount of rework and delays. The factors wereevaluated along an optimization method with a specific attention to process quality. Acase studywas conductedto confirm the relevance of the literature review on factors affecting process qualityand allowedto gather factors in process quality that are relevant to the industry. In light of those results, I re-developed a model providingnew measurement of what I call OPQE (Overall Process Quality Efficiency). This study contributes to a betterunderstanding of process quality in ETO(Engineering-To-Order)industries. Notably it shows how deviations that require rework and causesdelays are impacting process quality. It also shows that detecting errors early in the process of production is essential for insuring quality control. An error detected late affects negatively process quality and increases cost.

Lean Six Sigma for In-Process Quality Improvement : Case Study of a Battery Cell Production Process

Bihi, Amiin January 2020 (has links)
Purpose The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the efficiency and performance of Quality control with focus on the inspections performed within production processes and how Lean Six Sigma can affect them. This can be done through mapping a current state to identify inefficiencies and wastes. The research will be used to answer following questions: How can Lean improve efficiency for in-process quality control? How can integration of Lean Six Sigma be applied to optimize processes? Can Six Sigma techniques increase the performance of quality control? Method A production process approach to quality control was investigated through a case study. Data was gathered through Interviews, Observations, Measurements and a Survey. The case study was complimented with Theory through a literature study which provided data from books and scientific articles. The literature study also created more room for generalization within the study as connection and conclusions could be made with results found in other works. Results Through the case study it was discovered that the production process under examination was working with Lean practices to a certain degree. Regarding Six Sigma, not much trace was found of using the concept and its methods in practice. It was exposed through Lean that there was waste generated within the process defined as motion, transport and inventory which could be eliminated to improve efficiency. Through Six Sigma there was noticed that implementation could be made to increase the performance of operators to detect deviations and generate more data for quality management within their quality inspections. Conclusion The conclusion drawn within the research based upon the case study and literature study is that an integration of Lean Six Sigma can be made to improve efficiency as well as performance of quality control within a production process. Lean tools can be used to improve speed of the process and utilization of resources. Meanwhile Six Sigma can be used to increase the ability to detect deviations and perform quality work.

Nowadays, it is widely recognized that the quality of a software product depends on the quality of the software processes used in its development and maintenance. With this, much work has been done aiming to support organizations in their efforts towards process quality. The software process research area has explored two main directions: (i) approaches for modeling, analyzing and improving software processes, and (ii) support technology for software processes. The first goal focuses on approaches for structuring, organizing, documenting and describing software processes and includes process quality standards and maturity models. The second goal is concerned with the development of Process-Centered Software Engineering Environments (PSEEs) that integrate tool support for the development of artifacts with tool support for software process modeling and execution. The explicit representation of processes, its products and its interactions are the basis over which the modern development environments are built. Providing more powerful ways of describing and implementing software processes, PSEEs have also provided a powerful way to integrate processes and tools, and to automate, at least partially, tasks. This work presents a software process infrastructure that includes a tool for defining software processes. This tool was built and integrated to ODE (Ontology-based software Development Environment). To support this integration, the proposed infrastructure was built based on a software process ontology. This ontology was evolved in the context of this work, taking into account recent quality models and standards.

Dopad procesní a datové integrace na efektivitu reportingu / Impact of the process and data integration on reporting efficiency

Sys, Bohuslav January 2013 (has links)
Nowadays, when the difference between failure and success is amount of the available information combined with exponential growth of the available information on web leads to rising need to track the quality of the data. This worldwide trend is not only global, but it affects even individuals and companies in particular. In comparison with the past these companies produce higher amount of data, which are more complex at the same time, all to get a better idea about the real world. This leads us to the main problem, when we not only need to gather the data, but we have to present them in such way, so they can serve the purpose for which they have been gathered. Therefore the purpose of this thesis is to focus on processes following the data gathering -- data quality and transformation processes. In the first part of the thesis we will define a basic concept and issues, followed by methods necessary for acquiring requested data in expected quality, which includes the required infrastructure. In the second part of the thesis we will define real-life example and use the knowledge from previous part to design usable solution and deploy it into use. In conclusion we will evaluate the design compared to the result acquired from its real-life utilization.
