Laschuk, Tatiana January 2017 (has links)
The development of surface design projects for textile printing requires the designer’s knowledge of visual composition, and textile and printing technologies. In the fashion industry, such knowledge is even more specific, since printing projects can be developed in the areas of clothing making, knitwear and shoemaking, all of which have played an important role in the State of Rio Grande do Sul. The particularities of project conception, development and printing in each area should be taken into consideration so that the projects reach the industrially required level. Surface designers’ work depends on a fine-tuned interrelation between the customers from the processing industry that order services in the fashion area and the printing service providers, aiming to adapt the executed projects to both projectual and technical requirements in each area. Considering this context, the general objective of this thesis is to systematize the process of developing surface design projects for textile printing by means of a workflow integrating surface designers, printing industries and clothing manufacturers in the fashion area. This qualitative research has been divided into seven stages. At the first two stages, the literature research was used to both contextualize the surface design and present the main textile printing technologies, the context of textile printing in the fashion industry, and the use of this resource in the areas of clothing making, knitwear and shoemaking. At the third, fourth and fifth stages, semi-structured interviews were applied to surface designers, printing service providers and processing businesses in the fashion area. The interviews with surface designers allowed for the identification of the pattern development process and the aspects considered in this process in each area. Regarding the processing businesses, it was possible to identify the particularities of each sector concerning the projects and the pattern design. The survey carried out with the printing businesses evidenced the specifications of available printing technologies and their development processes. The sixth stage involved the analysis of data collected from each one of the actors regarding the following categories: relationship between the actors, projectual aspects, and technical features. Data discussion was held at the seventh stage, supported by the theoretical grounding. From the understanding of the field findings, a unified workflow for surface design project development in textile printing has been proposed for the areas of clothing making, knitwear and shoemaking, grounded on both the real needs of interaction between the research actors and the differences found between the researched areas in terms of project and pattern printing. Hence, alternatives have been presented in order to diminish hindrances noticed between these actors; at every stage of the workflow the specificities of each area that reflect on the way the patterns are designed and printed were taken into account, aiming at the optimization of the pattern development and production.

Ekologiskt hållbara bostadsprojekt - i egen regi : För medelstora entreprenadföretag / Ecologically sustainable dwelling projects – in-house projects

Eriksson, Jonna, Olsson, Adam January 2021 (has links)
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to create a plan of procedure for medium-sized construction companies that want to work with project development based on Swedish laws and regulations. The plan of procedure will document how these companies can start with ecologically sustainable housing projects in the initial stage of the construction process. The framing questions for the study is:  What legal requirements, regulations and general guidelines exist that relates to ecologically sustainable housing projects in Sweden?  What does the initial stage of the construction process look like and what processes and methodologies are used for housing projects?  How can a process for starting with ecologically sustainable housing projects based on the initial stage and its processes be designed and documented? Method: The research project contains a case study that used semi-structured interviews as well as a document study to answer the framing questions. The respondents come from three different companies and have been based on two different housing projects, which made it possible to create a generalizable result. Findings: The result of the study consists of a plan of procedure which includes processes, sub-processes, activities and decision points. The plan divides the activities into internal and external parties and is based on seven main topics that emerged during the document study. This plan of procedure can help support businesses that want to start new housing projects under project development. Implications: The study has given tools for business development to building dwellings as project development from Swedish regulations and legislations about ecological sustainability have been created and documented. A foundation, in form of a process map, to build upon for ecological sustainable dwelling project, for middlesized contractors has been created. Limitations: One limitation of the work is that many decisions to proceed with a project, the design and choice of installation system are based on financial aspects. Since the work has only focused on the ecological aspects, the economy has ended up outside the work, which means that when the results of the work are to be used, the economy must be weighed in separately. Decision-making is also not based solely on current legislation, which the work has focused on.

Evaluation tool for large scale onshore wind power projects

Jalkenäs, Frida January 2019 (has links)
Sweden has a goal of having 100% renewable electricity production by 2040. To reach this goal, wind power is one of the most important energy sources that needs to be heavily expanded. However, finding a good project site and realizing a project is a process that takes several years and can be difficult to achieve. Between 2015 and 2018, no less than 76% of Swedish wind power projects applying for permits were rejected. As an industry player with the aim of becoming fossil free, Pöyry has the interest to pursue Sweden reaching its goal. Pöyry has long experience of wind energy development and has now requested a method that can evaluate and compare Swedish wind power projects in all stages with the aim of identifying the best available project to proceed with. The objective of this thesis is thus to investigate factors that are critical for developing profitable projects, identify the largest expenses and create a tool that evaluates projects based on several parameters. A literature review is performed to obtain knowledge about wind power project development and data is collected from various projects in Sweden from 2016 and onwards to get an updated view with information and valuable numbers from realized projects. An analysis is then carried out with the aim of finding the most important factors that can affect the development of wind power projects, positively or negatively. This is followed by an identification of the most significant expenses in a project, whereupon a simplified but realistic way of calculating these are created. Lastly an evaluation tool is developed using Excel, with the purpose of evaluating projects, finding risks and estimating costs as well as electric energy production. Finally, candidate projects can be compared, helping developers finding the most beneficial and environmentally friendly projects.

Utveckling av ergonomiskt armstöd för dentala operatörsstolar : Ett produktutvecklingsprojekt på uppdrag av Support Design AB / Development of ergonomic arm rest for dental operator chairs : A product development project commissioned by Support Design AB

Berg, Elin January 2017 (has links)
This report treats a product development project conducted in the course Degree Project for the Degree of Bachelor of Science in Innovation and Design Engineering, MSGC12, at Karlstads University. The course is a part of the faculty of heath, sciences and engineering. The report is written by the student Elin Berg, the supervisor of the project is Kristina Gullander and the examnier is Leo de Vin. The assignment is provided by Support Design, a Swedish company in Sunne that manufactures and distributes ergnomic chairs. The chairs are mainly sold to clients working in the dental and medical markets, but also office workers. Customers often sit on the chairs for long workdays, and several users sometimes perform precision work that requires relief for the arms and shoulders. Today, Support Design does not manufacture its own armrests but buys these from the US and China. The aim of the project is to develop an ergonomic armrest for dental operator chairs where the target group is dentists, dental hygienists and dentist assistants. The armrest should have functions that relieve, provide support and are flexible in order for the user to change the working position. The purpose of the project is to expand the Support Designs business by introducing its own armrest production. Eventually, this would give the company competitive advantages, facilitate logistics and result in better margins. The work process follows the methods that are part of a product development process. The phases of the project are project start, project planning, research, product specification, concept generation, concept selection, sub-report, design, final prototype, opposition, presentation, and exhibition. The research is the most important phase in identifying the user's needs, thus developing ergonomic armrests that fulfill the necessary functions.

Infrastruktur vid nyexploatering : Förslag till byggherren / Infrastructure in Relations to New Building : Proposals to the Developer

Enström, Martin, Gyllberg, Johan January 2015 (has links)
Housing developments in urban areas entail considerable expenses in the acquisition of land, the infrastructure development and the production of housing. If the developer, public or private, owns the site the infrastructure can be organized differently. JM, a big landowner and developer, on a site in Liljeholmen, Stockholm developed the infrastructure parallel with the production of housing. In contrast, Stockholm’s Exploateringskontor on their site in Norra Djurgårdsstaden, completed the infrastructure provision before starting to build the housing. This study analyzes how these two approaches affect the economy of the project developments, infrastructure and housing production, logistics, work environment, external environment and sales. In this study infrastructure covers the facilities that the community uses on daily basis, such as roads, electricity, tele communications, heating, water and sewage. The study does not contain economical calculations because of the short time period. A review of the literature was made at the beginning of the studies to create a broad and general knowledge of the subject. Subsequently question templates were designed and used during eleven personal interviews with experts from JM, Stockholm’s Exploateringskontor, Forsen Projekt and WSP. Furthermore, a survey was made to understand how the completion of infrastructure affects the community’s self-rated satisfaction of the environment of occupancy.  The result of the study show that a large-scale completion of infrastructure at an early stage of the development is the most advantageous. The large-scale completion increases the potential for a cost-effective infrastructure and housing production and it also creates better conditions for a good working environment and logistics. It also allows a faster housing production during a boom. However, the large investment at an early stage of the development is a disadvantage when it comes to large-scale completion. The large investment causes capital costs and financial risk. The result is that the parallel approach is more advantageous because the infrastructure is produced in stages after demand with a lower financial risk. JM, as a housing developer for ten blocks in a development area, is recommended to complete the infrastructure as a combination of the two approaches. This means that infrastructure, excluding detailed planning, should be completed for three blocks of the development area along with the surrounding roads and pipeline systems. This takes place before the housing production begins. This enables a more cost-effective infrastructure and housing production because of easier coordination, availability and logistics at the workplace area. It also creates more time for effective soil remediation methods, leading to lower cost and environmental savings. The partial investment in infrastructure is less compared to a completion of all infrastructure in the site area. This reduces the capital costs and financial risk. The detailed planning work is finished with the completion of the housing projects, just before the customers move in. This minimizes the risk of wear and damage due to construction traffic during the construction period. It also increases customer satisfaction when the detailed planning work is completed, making habitation attractive.

WIND POWER PROJECT DEVELOPMENT: A MULTI-CRITERIA DECISION ANALYSIS FRAMEWORK FOR SUBCONTRACTORS’ EVALUATION

Chetouani, Yassine January 2022 (has links)
The Swedish Wind Energy Association (SWEA, 2019) reported the wind power project's total investment cost between 2017 and 2021 was over SEK 72 billion. They predicted that at project completion, the total production will be approximately 22.4 TWh per year. Due to project size, complexity, and long-term contracts commitments, almost all wind power project developers outsource some or most of their project activities to different subcontractors, after which they perform monitoring activities of the project process. Therefore, the pre-qualification stage and subcontractors’ evaluation become essential parts of every project. Most corporates and authorities are usually awarding projects to subcontractors with offers based on the most competitive price advantage. This approach results in high risks that can affect the delivery time, the overall cost, and the quality of wind power projects. This research paper aims to use a multi-criteria analysis to identify and select the most adequate subcontractor. To achieve the research purpose, a sample of five subcontractors nominated by a windpower developer were evaluated in a selection phase under nine criteria: (1) management capability, (2) product or service quality, (3) planning and capabilities, (4) quality assessment,(5) environmental management, (6) health and safety measures, (7) financial strength, (8) contract insurances and guaranties, and (9) cost. After the evaluation and the ranking of companies, a result of the most adequate subcontractor for the project offer was presented. At the end of this study, a comparison analysis was followed at the final stage which compared the method with a similar procurement approach used by one corporate where it showed that this paper’s method can uncover critical aspects with subcontracts which can alter the selection process.
