Max Stirner como crítico da modernidade: entre dialética do esclarecimento e crítica radical da razão / Max Stirner as a critique of modernity: between dialectic of enlightenment and radical critique of reasonErinson Cardoso Otenio 03 May 2013 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to discuss Max Stirners philosophy from a perspective in which, in his works, the defining elements of modern philosophical discourse, \"dialectic of enlightenment\" and \"radical critique of reason\", converge in a peculiar critique of modernity as a whole. If, on the one hand, this criticism is in continuity with the young Hegelian philosophy, on the other hand, it presents itself as a kind of antithetical completion of this philosophy, placing itself alongside the tradition of radical critique of reason that goes back to Nietzsche. According to this interpretative proposal, it would be outlined a \"philosophical discourse of modernity\" whose peculiarity would be precisely to resemble sometimes one, sometimes the other form of critique that is made to this subject-centered rationality. The analysis of Stirnerian texts that is proposed here, then, aims to show how such discourse constitutes itself and how the philosopher intends to take it to a climax where it cannot continue its original course without denying its assumptions. This would demonstrate that the Stirnerian philosophy does not participate in philosophical discourse of modernity as a \"failed attempt\" to leave it but as a necessary moment, capable of putting ourselves to face a new historical threshold. In this way, it is assumed that the critique of modernity performed by Stirner wants to be at the same time the realization of modern philosophy which can be noted by his allegiance to the paradigm of the philosophy of the subject , and its denial by presenting nihilism as its truth. In this sense, it would also be anti-modern, because it can only affirm itself (paradoxically) on account of a disavowal of the paradigm with which it is committed, though as its ultimate expression, an expression that deny itself when it self dissolves, thus revealing the unique one (the nothing) as a passage to the absolute other of modernity.

Razão e sociedade : da crítica do poder à potência da críticaHilário, Leomir Cardoso 14 December 2012 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The objectives of this work are (1) to analyze the core elements of Axel Honneth s critique Michel Foucault s thought in The Critique of Power, by linking it with his analysis of the work of the "inner circle" of the Frankfurt school, especially Adorno and Horkheimer. Thus it is understood that Honneth makes an approximation between Foucault's thinking and the Frankfurt School critical tradition, emphasizing common deficiencies that indicate an affiliation between these authors, while at the same time noting their failures in the analysis of contemporary society. Such a reading, despite its innovation in putting side by side Foucault and Habermas as rival developers of critical theory, is limited in not considering the reorientation in Foucault s thought from 1978 on, and in not identifying the notions of power and domination as problematic. These limitations do not preclude sustaining a convergence between Foucault's thinking and that of the Frankfurt school, thinking of it in a positive fashion that is not restricted to the limitations of its critical tools, and instead focusing on the radicality of such criticism, making it possible to highlight its relevance; (2) starts from the point of view held by Axel Honneth that Foucault and Habermas are understood as rival developments of the Frankfurt School, Adorno and Horkheimer in particular. We propose that the conduct is before the Enlightenment that departs from Habermas and Honneth Adorno/Horkheimer and Foucault. We conducted a rapprochement between Foucault and the Frankfurt School which relies initially on critical Honneth much as the other one, then to overcome it, showing at the same time, the common point and the reasons for that are not confused; (3) seek to reflect on the point from which Habermas and Lukács argues the obsolescence of the social criticism of the first generation Frankfurt School, Adorno in particular, namely the idea that the radical critique of rationality articulated with social analysis of capitalism would inevitably lead to an analytic aporia which could only be overcome by the paradigm shift within the critical theory. Focusing as Adorno seeks to maintain the aporetic situation of social criticism, we seek to resize the aporia taking it out of the record insurmountable obstacle to the condition of possibility of the critical exercise.

This works aims at investigating how the relation between moral and practical reason is approached in the programs of discourse ethics by Habermas and Apel. Attempts are made to defend the hypothesis that the controversy between Habermas and Apel regarding discourse ethics results from the different ways the moral sphere of the moral of discourse is dealt with in each author¿s program and that the distinct ways they conceive the concept of practical reason results from such difference. The answers given to the problematic of the moral sphere will lead to two programs of discourse ethics that gradually depart from their common roots and, in the end, project two quite distinct conceptions of practical reason which, on a larger scale, become irreconcilable, so that it seems impossible to classify them under the same rubric. Thus, due to the differences noticed in each author¿s initial program regarding the formulation of a narrower notion of moral ¿ deontological, as defended by Habermas ¿ or broader ¿ deontological-teleological, as proposed by Apel ¿ the consequence is that, for Habermas, moral and practical reason shall be placed within a theory or philosophy of discourse and the practical reason cannot be understood in a moral sense; for Apel, both spheres shall be placed within discourse ethics so that moral is on part A and the sphere of practical reason on part B ¿ teleological ¿ and shall be understood in a moral sense / Doutorado / Doutor em Filosofia

Previous issue date: 2012-04-12 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This work, called Appearance of the clown: a rational-christian myth to birth poetry, is
an interpretive reading of the poem of the same name by L. Ruas based on some
theories about the myth, christianity, philosophy and art. It is, in particular, the ideas of
Theodor Adorno, Max Horkheimer and Martin Heidegger on the need of man be
reunited with art in a world of utilitarian vision. This hermeneutical study proposed
here, identifies the construction of two myths, which are related to the same lyrical I of
the poem. In making such narratives, the palhaço and his first form, the clown, have
great importance, because they who, after being evoked by I, direct all actions of the
poem. In the first myth, there is a critique of instrumental reason, which is framed by
christian elements. In this reality evoked by palhaço, the reason becomes utilitarian,
misrepresent themselves to produce a knowledge able to dominate nature, banishing the
symbolic representations and artistic of life. The solution for those who want to separate
out this context of oppression and, at the same time, fight it, lies in the construction of
the second mythic reality: the poetry.
No primeiro mito,

Through a critical perspective, it was demonstrate that habermasian theoretical proposal is between Social transformation and preservation. The layout of the thematic summary has its own characteristic, once it s the author s world view, discursive line, the trajectory, as well the critical speech into Haberma s ideia. It s starting from a Marxist transforming critic, to concluding that habermasian proposal is a reforming one, due the limits and contradictions. In capitalist system there isn t voluntary and peaceful understanding among equal and free rights. Firstly, because there isn t equality in society (nowadays). Secondly, because there isn t place for liberty in the world; a word completely governed by instrumental reason. Besides, the current theme is modern because it approaches the habermasian opinion about the global economic crisis, as well as Europe future on the political integration sense.

The object of this research is the immanent analysis of the Jürgen Habermas \"linguistic-pragmatic turn\" presuppositions, verified in his magnum opus - The Theory of Communicative Action, published in 1981. The goal we set ourselves to achieve is to elucidate the peculiar way as Habermas absorbs the theoretical acquisitions of linguistic pragmatics (especially J. L. Austin and J. R. Searle) for the construction of a theory of communication, whose focal point is the postulation of consensus between subjects capable of speech and action as the telos of communicative action. The theoretical hypothesis that we believe have been confirmed throughout our research is that Habermas, despite being a vehement defender of reason and the \"Project of modernity\", shares common ground with the thinkers of that period is conventionally designate postmodernity: the so-called \"linguistic idealism\", i. e. the seizure of communicative acts as autonomous entities, because separed of socials and materials relations of men

Desenvolvendo o percurso teórico apresentado neste estudo, procuramos compreender alguns dos traços da indignação filosófica nietzscheana / Abstract: The basic purpose of this research is to try to comprehend the weak wish from the conceptual relation between décadence and the Christianity. To thresh such way, it is essential to follow Nietzsche's footprints, developing a criticism to the religion, more specifically to the Christianity. The study has beginning with the discussion conceming the religious belief phenomenon, seeking your meaning and foundation. One of the basic foundations of this first moment is the dedicated attention to the faith concept structuring, just as it appears on The Antichrist. Developed this matter, in a second moment we try to comprehend the weak wish from Cristianity - according to Nietzsche, the best representative of this kind of wish. We base this study on the Christianity
configuration as a "bad enemy", in the "wish corruption" concepts" and "compassion" - conceptual elements with considerable importance in Christianity's characterization developed by Nietzsche. This discussion forwardfor the chapter development that care for décadence concept. The study has beginning with the presentation that Nietzsche considers his "personal experience with décadence", in which he considers himself as a "master". In the chapter sequence, deepen décadence concept discussion, introducing the influence that Nietzsche had of the work reading Essais de psychologie contemporaine, of Paul Bourget, from his criticisms to Richard Wagner, in The Case of Wagner. Perhaps is in these criticisms that is possible to realize in a better systematized form the characteristics of décadence process. Process that finds in the weak wish your best representative and in the Christianity its best support. Done basic conceptual discussions, at the end of the chapter we try to show, in the footprints of Nietzsche, the Christianity as a "décadence religion". Finally, in the fourth and last chapter, we seek to realize the affinnation of the foundations that the Christianity is the principal representative of décadence, from its origin and historica1 characterization. For so much, we follow the
conceptual route developed by Nietzsche in The Antichrist, passing through Israel's history, the interpretation of Jesus's psychological type and his historical disfigurement, which principal responsible was the apostle Paulo. One of the principal philosophy preoccupations of Nietzsche was the accusation of a kind ofwish that is wanted strongly denying the foundations ofthe force, in the values affinnation that weaken the man. And here we come across to the Christianity, as the responsible religion for universalization of these values. Developing the introduced theoretical route in this study, we try to comprehend some of the philosophical indignation nietzscheanna traces / Mestrado / Filosofia / Mestre em Filosofia

[en] TYPOGRAPHY IN SPACE: SENSE AND SENSIBILITY IN A GRAPHIC PROJECT / [pt] TIPOGRAFIA NO ESPAÇO: RAZÃO E SENSIBILIDADE NO PROJETO GRÁFICOANA MANSUR DE OLIVEIRA 11 October 2005 (has links)
o designer privilegia
a razão e aquela cujo foco é a sensibilidade. Através de
uma análise do
significado dos períodos moderno e pós-moderno, buscamos,
inicialmente,
trazendo a discussão
para o âmbito do design propriamente dito. Começamos por
expor
diferentes idéias sobre este tópico, escolhendo, em
seguida, três autores: Jan
Tschichold, Emil Ruder e Wolfgang Weingart. Após um breve
histórico,
foram selecionados alguns exemplos práticos que demonstram
as crenças
racionalidade
quanto da sensibilidade. Várias imagens foram reproduzidas
no capítulo
quatro, no qual é feita a análise gráfica do material. O
designer: as várias
[en] This dissertation aims at establishing a discussion
between two ways of
thinking the solution of typography in the graphic space:
the one in which
the designer emphazises the sense and the one which
focuses sensibility.
Through an analysis of the meaning of modern and pos-
modern eras, we first
investigated the context which gave rise to those two ways
of thinking.
Subsequently, we examined the ideasof some authors
concerning the best way
of arranging typography in the graphic space, bringing the
discussion to the
design context. We started analysing different ideas on
this topic, and then
focusing in three authors: Jan Tschichold, Emil Ruder and
Wolfgang
Weingart. After a short historical review, some practical
examples have been
selected to demonstrate the graphic believes of each one.
After that
immersion in the past, we brought the question to
contemporary times,
studying it through the point of view of designers to whom
this aspect was
also important. A case study of spreads taken out from the
brazilian magazine
Gula was developed, in which graphic elements related
both to racionality
and sensibility, were identified. Various images were
reproducted in the
chapter four, in which a graphic analysis of the material
was carried out. The
objective of this dissertation was to raise some points
that might help futures
discussions and research over this vital point to the
designer: the various ways
of arranging typography in the space.

[pt] Esta tese representa a segunda parte da pesquisa: Razão e
Psicanálise. A
A primeira parte
Popper, Adolf Grünbaum, Gregório Klimovsky e a crítica e
Wittgenstein e a
Psicanálise - sua complexa relação com a proposta
freudiana, seu entusiasmo e
crítica. Fazemos uma avaliação própria da contribuição de
Wittgenstein,
articulando-a com um desenvolvimento da psicanálise: a
teoria de relações de
objeto. Dentro desta, tomamos a vertente kleiniana como
referencial e, em
particular, as contribuições de W. R. Bion. O Caso
anteriormente;
contextos. Discutimos sumariamente a relação: terapia
modernidade. A tese privilegia a dimensão clínica do
[en] This thesis represents the second part of the research:
Reason and
Psychoanalysis. The research aims to investigate, within
the contemporary Anglo-
Saxon debate, the epistemological foundations of
psychoanalytical theory and
whether it presents itself as an adequate tool for
investigating madness and its
manifestations. The first part of the thesis corresponds
to a current summary of
philosophical appraisals of psychoanalysis, in the
traditional field of research
development. It presents the following appraisals: Karl
Popper s, Adolf
Grünbaum s, Gregorio Klimovsky´s and Larry Laudan s
criticism and alternative
regarding Anglo-Saxon epistemology. The next appraisal is
Marcia Cavell s one,
already in the scope of the modern philosophy of language,
initiating the second
part of research. The next topic is: Wittgenstein and
Psychoanalysis - his complex
relation to the Freudian proposal, his enthusiasm and
criticism. We show our own
appraisal of Wittgenstein s contribution, linking it to a
development of
psychoanalysis: the object-relation theory. From the
latter we took the Kleinian
vision as referential and particularly W. R. Bion s
contributions. The Case of
Schreber (Freud,1911) is presented and investigated as a
case study, with the aim
of evaluating the validity of the philosophical and
psychoanalytic notions
previously exposed; particularly the notions of internal
irrationalism (Cavell) and
ways of living and certainty (Wittgenstein). The thesis
suggests that delusion
(taken as a paradigm of madness) may be seen as: a bizarre
way of living, also
suggesting some candidates as invariants for madness and
its manifestations in
varied contexts. We briefly discuss the relation between
philosophical therapy
and psychoanalysis. The background to the thesis is
identified as what is known as
the crisis of psychoanalysis, which we have placed within
another, more
comprehensive and durable one, the crisis of modernity.
The thesis favours the
clinical dimension of psychoanalytic project, suggesting
new perspectives for it,
through its dimension as a critique of culture. It calls
attention to the two facets - clinical and cultural - of
Freud´s work and the importance of establishing their
differences and relations.

Tight VS loose coupling, managed VS enforced safety, engineering VS field knowledge... As they are now confronted with uncertain, complex environments, organizations manage safety by oscillating between rigid control and the flexibility required to manage hazards. At the heart of this tension rests the individual, who is able to determine whether following the rule is enough or if some level of adaptation is required. Yet this implies that the individual is no longer considered as a factor, neither of failure nor of reliability, but as a person who is autonomous and in a capacity to make enlightened, reasoned decisions. Building on Paul Ricoeur's practical philosophy, we develop the notion of « practical Safety ». It defends the idea that safety can be preserved by relying on people's practical reason rather than on organizational rationality, by mobilizing individual will rather than obedience. The PhD demonstrates that such an approach is both relevant and anchored in reality, using field data gathered within a gas distribution company.
