Medicininių dokumentų automatizuotos analizės metodikos tyrimas / Analysis of automatic data extraction from medical documents

Kazla, Algirdas 25 May 2005 (has links)
Automatic data extraction from medical legacy systems into archetype-based systems is analyzed, developed and tested in this work. Electronic health record system (EHRS) is a must in today’s healthcare environment. Lots of up-to-date medical systems are still built with classic development approaches, with semantics hard coded into systems. Modern EHRS standards propose new “two-level” methodology, which is based on separation of knowledge and information levels. This work suggests a methodology for heterogenic medical legacy systems that exist today to be transformed into ones, built with “two-level” methodology. Transformation is based on knowledge, residing in new system. By creating a comprehensive transformation scheme, it is possible to analyze and extract relevant data from semi structured or unstructured text fields with mixed information. Suggested methodology is tested with software prototype by extracting laboratory results of clinical blood test from semi structured fields of cardiology database. Achieved results are about 95% of data successfully transferred from legacy system. This approach preserves medical data accumulated during long years of work and transforms it into more useful form, creating structured data from unstructured text fields. It allows an automatic means of information technologies to be used by medicine expert to analyze and interpret legacy data (draw charts, calculate statistics and so on).

The Empirical Analysis of Stock Exchange Regulatory Enforcement: Evidence from China

Chung, Yu Hsuan Unknown Date (has links)
The first line of defense in firm supervision is a stock exchange regulatory enforcement, and its disciplinary sanctions convey important information to stock market participants. This study thus examines the causes and consequences of the disciplinary sanctions on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. This study also uses disciplinary penalties found in credit record files to analyze the effect of stock exchange regulatory enforcement. The results indicate that the firms with disciplinary sanctions have no reaction on stock price. Additionally, this study finds that governance and supervision mechanisms can explain a.) occurrence of disciplinary sanctions in a given firm, and b.) probability of detecting stock exchange regulatory enforcement. Finally, further analysis suggests that disciplinary sanctions significantly improve firms’ financial reporting quality.

Gaffuri, Flora 03 1900 (has links)
At a time when the music recording industry is going through some shake ups, Internet is seen both as a responsible for a disc crisis and as a plateform for diffusion and promotion of recorded music. This cultural industries' mutations context is now revealing multiple promotion opportunities for independant labels, as part of the music industries. This can be seen through websites which I consider to be a broadcasted, encoded and decoded discourse. This master thesis explore two independant record companys’ websites, both producing rap music in Québec, with the proposal of the presence of the myth in the promotionnal discourse. Based on Barthes' theory, my analysis is built around the study of the signification in order to outline the way the myth works in the discourse. While focusing on images and text, I mainly emphasize the treatment of the artist, the musical creation and the record label in the discourse.

Short-term Statistics Of Wind Waves Around The Turkish Coast

Akbasoglu, Sinan 01 January 2004 (has links) (PDF)
In this thesis, the wind-wave records obtained at three locations along the Turkish coasts (Alanya, Dalaman and Hopa) are analyzed. Probability distributions of individual wave characteristics (wave height, wave period and wave steepness) are obtained and compared with the model distributions. Goodness of fit of the observed distributions is checked by Chi-square test and Kolmogorov-Smirnov tests. Joint probability distribution of individual wave heights and periods is also studied and compared with the theoretical distributions. The relationships among various statistical wave height parameters and statistical wave period parameters are investigated and compared with the theoretical and reported values.

Disability Pension with Special Reference to Sick Leave Track Record, Health Effects, Health Care Utilisation and Survival : A Population-based Study

Wallman, Thorne January 2008 (has links)
Background. In Sweden 10 percent (550,000) of the labour force, aged 18 to 65 years are disability pensioners and about four percent are on sick leave. The knowledge of the course from healthy individual to disability pensioner is not well known and was the theme of this thesis. Objectives, Material and Methods. The aims of the thesis were to follow the study population regarding sickness absence, health care utilisation, quality of life, and survival. Population based data including 14,538 women and men from three cities in Sweden were used, of whom 1,952 were granted a disability pension at baseline or received one during follow up. Register data, including sickness spells, health care utilisation, and mortality data during 30 years of follow up, and questionnaire data including socio-economic and quality of life data were used. Results. The most powerful determinant for being granted a disability pension was cumulative annual sick leave days, more powerful than all other tested determinants together. The degree of explanation for all determinants combined was 96%. Health care utilisation among disability pensioners continued to be high also after disability pension, 2.3 times higher for hospital admissions and 8 times higher for primary health case appointments than among referents. Disability pensioners had lower quality of life than non-pensioners and old age pensioners. For those who became disability pensioners after the baseline measurements quality of life measures decreased progressively until disability pension was granted and were then stabilised on a low level. During follow up 525 (7.6%) subjects died. Compared with subjects who did not become disability pensioners the hazards ratio was 2.78 among women and 3.43 among men, even when the effect of a number of other outcome affecting variables were taken into account. The mortality differences were not explained by underlying disease. Conclusions. The risk of disability pension may be predicted but only late in the course of events. Disability pensioners continue to have a high level of health care utilisation, and have a worse quality of life development and a higher mortality rate than non-pensioners. Given the unfavourable outcome of disability pension, other means of managing the reduced work capacity might be considered.

Designing guideline-based workflow-integrated electronic health records

Barretto, Sistine January 2005 (has links)
The recent trend in health care has been on the development and implementation of clinical guidelines to support and comply with evidence-based care. Evidence-based care is established with a view to improve the overall quality of care for patients, reduce costs, and address medico-legal issues. One of the main questions addressed by this thesis is how to support guideline-based care. It is recognised that this is better achieved by taking into consideration the provider workflow. However, workflow support remains a challenging (and hence rarely seen) accomplishment in practice, particularly in the context of chronic disease management (CDM). Our view is that guidelines can be knowledge-engineered into four main artefacts: electronic health record (EHR) content, computer-interpretable guideline (CiG), workflow and hypermedia. The next question is then how to coordinate and make use of these artefacts in a health information system (HIS). We leverage the EHR since we view this as the core component to any HIS. / PhD Doctorate

I’m not my criminal record" : Former criminals experience of work in relation to social inclusion and exclusion

Jonsson, Rebecca, Klingström, Filip January 2018 (has links)
At today's labor market it has become increasingly common for employers to request a criminal background check and get access to the employees criminal record. This impedes the potential of former criminals to get a new start and integrate into society. Previous research show that those who find work after they finished their penalties runs a lower risk of recidivism in crime at the same time as employers tendency to request for criminal records have increased. On the basis of this, our aim has been to examine and illustrate how former criminals experience their opportunities to find a work in relation to the criminal record and its effect, as well as how work and social inclusion/exclusion have an impact on each other. To answer our aim, we have conducted a qualitative study based on semistructured interviews with members of the organization KRIS (criminals comeback in society). The results of our study have shown that a criminal record makes it difficult for former criminals on the labor market and contributes to feelings of social exclusion. It has been found that work can have a positive impact on social inclusion, as well as an individual's social inclusion can create opportunities to find a work. The conclusion we’ve made is that work is one of the most important factors for the inclusion of former criminals in society and the possibility of work is mainly created through contacts. We have also found that the criminal record is counterproductive since it has an indirectly negative crime prevention effect at community level, since those who don’t find work more easily return to crime. Thus, the use of the criminal register contributes to the exclusion of people and the risk of more crimes being committed, in order to protect people from crime.
