Reduktion och besinning : Vägen till det historiska medvetandet i Husserls fenomenologi / Reduction and Sense-reflection : The Path to the Historical Consciousness in Husserl's Phenomenology

Tham, Wilhelm January 2022 (has links)
The aim of this paper is to explore the theme of history in Husserl’s phenomenology, a theme to which he had a complex relation. While in his programmatic text, Philosophie als strenge Wissenschaft, he opposed himself to the so-called “historicism” of some of his contemporaries, claiming that it leads to relativism, he later in his career sought to incorporate historical reflections into the core of the phenomenological method. The challenge, then, is to understand, or perhaps to reconcile, the tension between Husserl’s early anti-historicism and his later turn toward history and historical reflections. By highlighting some of the key points in the development of his phenomenology, such as the distinction between static and genetic analysis, this tension is shown to be nothing but apparent. By expanding the scope of his notion of essences to also include motivations, origins, and ideals, the later Husserl gives to phenomenology a fundamentally historical and temporal dimension. A central component in this development, it is argued, is the notion of sense-reflection (Besinnung), connecting phenomenology both to historical and ethical concerns. In later texts such as Die Krisis der europäischen Wissenschaften, sense-reflection is used in a variety of contexts: as indicating the retrieval of historically lost meaning (such as that within the sciences); as indicating the Socratic ethos of self-knowledge (Selbstbesinnung); and lastly, as indicating the process of performing the phenomenological reduction. Ultimately, according to Husserl, only by engaging in historical sense-reflections can phenomenology become a truly rigorous science, seeking to clarify the meaning of science as an intersubjective project aiming toward the realization of human rationality and reason.

The mark of a silent language : the way the body-mind draws

Gunter, Elizabeth 03 1900 (has links)
Thesis (PhD)--University of Stellenbosch, 2011. / ENGLISH ABSTRACT: The thesis deals with the notion that individuation in drawing provides visible evidence of experiential cognition as embodied action. It asserts that trait as enaction signifies constructive and inventive processes that involve the body-mind. Trait emerges as nonrepresentationist, non-expressive component of drawing that marks the pre-conceptual as conceptual. Therefore, drawing functions as a complex interface between drafter and world that unifies antimonies such as inside and outside; convention and invention; remoteness and intimacy; body and mind; and subject and object. The thesis outlines drawing as a self-reflexive research process that constructs and invents. An understanding of trait as invention, the thesis proposes, can aid the drawing facilitator at higher education level to develop individual student drafters’ creativity. The thesis therefore argues for a form of drawing facilitation that is responsive to the complex interaction between the self and the world. Responsive mediation develops and celebrates diversity in socio-cultural heritage, personal history, and individual differences.

Self-reflection, self-rumination and depressive mood on recall of autobiographical memories.

劉令恬, Liu, Le Tien Unknown Date (has links)
Literature review shows that depressive rumination sustains depressed mood. Depressive rumination could separate into maladaptive and adaptive subcomponents (Treynor, Gonzalez, & Nolen-Hoeksema, 2003), but the relationship of them and depressive mood is unstable. In non-clinical sample, high self-focus is not always relates to maladaptive. When it combines with mood-congruent autobiographical memory sustain negative mood easily. People with mood-incongruent effect will recall more positive autobiographical memory, has better emotional regulation. The present study tried to examine the relationship between emotion, rumination and autobiographical memory. Divided self-focus into self-reflection and self-rumination (Trapnell & Campbell, 1999), investigated the differential characteristic of autobiographical memory in different self-focus (ruminative and reflective) and depressive mood (high and low). In addition, we used Minimal Instructions Autobiographical Memory Test to measure memory specificity in non-clinical populations. Study one aimed to validate the Chinese version of Rumination-Reflection Questionnaire, recruit 545 graduate and undergraduate students as sample. Study two investigated the differential characteristic of autobiographical memory in self-focus and depressive mood with 117 students chosen from study one. The results revealed that: 1) the Chinese version of RRQ showed satisfactory psychometric properties. 2) High depressive mood is significantly associated with reduced AM specificity and induced overgeneral memory, this result supported pass researches. Otherwise, autobiographical memory’s characteristic in self-rumination and self-reflection are quite the same. In high depressive mood, high self-ruminator did not have lower autobiographical memory specificity, and more overgeneral memory. High self-reflector did not have more positive specific autobiographical memory, and less positive overgeneral memory. These two result didn’t support assumption, but matched to Svaldi’s (2008) result.

SJÄLVREFLEKTION ÖVER EN KRITISK HÄNDELSE, I EN NY KONTEXT : Kvalitativ självreflektionsstudie av två svenska sjukgymnaststudenters upplevelser av en kritisk händelse under verksamhetsförlagd utbildning på rehabiliteringscentrat Pina Palmera, Mexiko.

Lundberg, Jennie, Högberg, Jenny January 2013 (has links)
Physiotherapists treat people with different views of the world and medical beliefs, which require a good understanding of cultural differences. One way to achieve cultural understanding is through self-reflection in a new context. During five weeks the authors, two physiotherapy students, completed a clinical practice at the rehabilitation center Pina Palmera, Zipolite, Oaxaca, Mexico. At the beginning of the period a critical incident was chosen, when the head physiotherapist for the ward Cuidados Especiales intended to sell jewellery to the authors during a treatment of a patient. The authors have by using the reflection framework "Framework to guide reflective process", and Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) for analysis, discussed different ways of communication, adherence, education, and self-reflection and critical thinking. In the discussion the result was reflected against Social Cognitive Theory (SCT). The main conclusion drawn in this study was that self-reflection and critical thinking is necessary for both personal development, and the development of a workplace. Other findings were the recognition of the importance of an accurate mapping, and humility for the patients‟ view of the world and medical believes, to achieve adherence. The authors also came to the conclusion that there may be an ethical dilemma in compromising with patients regarding treatment. It may be difficult to meet patients in their faith and beliefs, and still work within the frames of the physiotherapists‟ legitimation.

University Preparatory Class Efl Students&#039 / Attitudes Towards Electronic Portfolios As A Method Of Alternative Assessment

Yasar, Engin 01 December 2005 (has links) (PDF)
This study aims to investigate university preparatory class students&rsquo / attitudes towards the assessment system by which they are evaluated and alternative assessment before and after the implementation of the electronic portfolio, their attitudes towards the electronic portfolio before and after keeping it for two months, their suggestions about improving the electronic portfolio and how keeping the electronic portfolio affects their computer literacy. For this purpose, 19 intermediate level EFL students in the Department of Basic English, METU were chosen as subjects. For this study, data were collected by administering two questionnaires before and after the implementation, conducting informal interviews with the students and keeping a diary in order to record teacher reflection. Then, the data collected through these data collection tools have been analysed. Finally, the results are discussed in order to interpret students&rsquo / attitudes towards the current assessment system at DBE, alternative assessment tools and the electronic portfolio. The findings of this study indicated that although the students are not completely dissatisfied with the current assessment used at DBE, their attitude towards alternative assessment tools, portfolio, and electronic portfolio was also positive before the implementation and keeping the electronic portfolio for two months made their attitudes towards these assessment tools even more positive. In addition, some of the students indicated that using both traditional and alternative assessment tools may reflect better assessment of their performance.

How to Look Good Naked 'on the couch' : psychoanalytic approaches to British makeover television and gender

Thomadaki, Theodora January 2017 (has links)
This project formulates an original psycho-cultural approach by studying the cultural and therapeutic value of Gok Wan’s makeover series How To Look Good Naked. Through an in-depth application of Donald Woods Winnicott’s object relations psychoanalysis to the textual narratives of the makeover show, and by developing a viewing method that derives from psychoanalytic training on observation, this thesis offers an account of the affective impact of Gok Wan’s popular makeover phenomenon. This thesis addresses key themes and elements that signal the evolution of British makeover television and identifies how Gok Wan’s format and strategies chime with what has widely been hailed as a particularly ‘therapeutic’ moment in popular culture. The emblematic features of Gok Wan’s rendition of the makeover format highlights its potential positive outcomes by examining the articulation of current embodied feminine subjective experiences, in order to interrogate the complex relationship between postfeminism and therapeutic discourse. This thesis recognises that the therapeutic opportunity of Gok Wan’s method lies in the transformational process by creating emotionally constructive spaces where the articulation of experiences leads to inner self-discovery. Playful mechanisms of creativity are central to Gok Wan’s empathetic approach to working with participants to enable transformation, reflecting a number of key themes in object relations psychoanalysis and its understanding of self-experience. The opportunities afforded to participants for self-interpretation create a useful platform to reflect on Gok Wan’s role, who has been candid about the parallels between his own emotional experience and that of his participants. Psychoanalytic models of transference and countertransference indicate how this dynamic challenges dominant notions of the makeover expert as omnipotent. This project demonstrates the value of object relations psychoanalysis for critical interventions in the field of media, cultural and feminist studies in order to provide a deeper understanding of the affective impact of makeover television in shaping notions of subjective experience.

Sebereflexe studentů zdravotně sociálních oborů vzhledem ke zvolenému oboru / Self-reflection of students of schools with the health and social fields of study with respect to the selected field of study

LIŠKOVÁ, Radka January 2014 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with the theme: Self-reflection of students of schools with the health and social fields of study with respect to the selected field of study. The main objective of the diploma thesis was to find out how the students' view of the chosen field has been changing in the course of study. The theoretical part contains the definition and explanation of terms related to the researched topic. Qualitative methodology was chosen for the research part of thesis. Data were collected using the technique of semi-structured interview. The interviews focused on what influences contributed to the choice of field, whether any differences in the view of the chosen field and the studied issues appeared, and possible reflection of these changes. The research group consisted of ten female students of the "University of South Bohemia in Czech Budejovice", field of study "Rehabilitation - psychosocial care for disabled children, adults and seniors" in the continuing Master's program. The resulting data were analyzed through a process of open coding. It resulted from the research that the motive for selecting the field of study was primarily a desire to help and work with people and interest in problems. Selected field did not meet the expectations of the communication partners, and the majority of them regret their decision in choosing the field of study. The reason is mainly the unsuitable structure of subjects and low salaries in the profession. The advantage of field of study is gaining useful information and competence development. Completing the practical experience is evaluated as positive. A significant part of the communication partners do not feel ready for performance of the profession. Communication partners often changed their attitude to health and social issues in the negative direction. They most often changed their opinion on Roma people. Children and the senior citizens are the most popular target groups. On the contrary, the homeless persons and the Roma people are the least popular. During the study, the communication partners are aware of their shortcomings and risks associated with the profession. All are worried about the "burnout syndrome". Most of the communication partners currently believe that they will be good workers. The obtained results can help enrich the theoretical knowledge of self-reflection of students with regard to the chosen field of study.

Living the theory : an enquiry into the development of a psychotherapist in training

Nabal, Venessa 03 February 2010 (has links)
This dissertation explores the experiences of a psychotherapist in training. Psychotherapeutic training can be described as taxing, because personal change often results from the process, and change can be difficult. This study is an action research enquiry that focused on a living theory methodology. A living theory enquiry strives to find answers to the question of how to improve the practice (in this dissertation, the practice of sychotherapy). In order to find answers to this question, the researcher embarks on a journey of reflective awareness, which highlights whether he or she is able to practise in accordance with his or her personal values. An explicit awareness of both personal and professional values is essential in a living theory enquiry. A living contradiction occurs when a person is unable to consolidate his or her personal and professional values. A living contradiction has a negative impact on a practitioner’s well-being, which may in turn influence how that person practises psychotherapy. This dissertation explores such a living contradiction which the researcher experienced during her training as a psychotherapist. A subtext of the dissertation can be described as the Narrative of a psychotherapist (in training) dealing with personal trauma.
